Don Lino Hotel: Cuban resort

Don Lino is a real Cuban resort where people can find tranquility and peace, away from the city. It has a beach with some stones therefore water shoes are useful. About 2 km away is a very nice sand beach called Playa Blanca with a village nearby. Many rooms are located near the sea and have nice views to the sea as well as trees for shade. Better option is an "a la carte" restaurant where food is fresh, very tasty, nicely arranged and served. Only on my last day at the resort I was not happy. I had leave my room with the luggage at 12 noon. My flight was at 9.15 PM!!! the bus for the airport was supposed to leave at 5:15pm, but it was changed to 4:15pm but nobody told ME about it! I almost missed the bus. As for luggage handling. Most Canadian tourists are older 60-70-80 years yet there no help from the staff. It is something management of the hotel could think about for the future.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort, very clean and neat, works do a excellent job keeping the resort nice clean

We have excellent service playa pesquero premium, beautiful room, pools nice and clean food at the Premium was always a la cart, excellent food, works do such a good job keeping everything so neat, always so friendly with people, I had a fantastic holiday, thanks for making it special

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful resort

The resort was beautiful.The staff in the in the resort were out standing.The waiters were very professional. the drivers were very accommodating were there in minutes when you called when leaving they handled our luggage with care. We didn't GET THE ROOMS WE ASKED FOR THEY WERE CLOSED DOWN. a lot of walking very thankful for the cart drivers I would recommend this resort and will go back.

Playa Costa Verde: Acceptable

Rooms are acceptable, but not impressive. Upkeep of the resort is mediocre. Staff is very friendly, helpful. If you’re not a nightlifer, this place is probably not for you, as partying is going on till at least midnight, with a lot of noise

I fell in love with this resort ! Very clean , huge pool , love the swim up bar and bartender Jesus !! Easy access to the beach ,lounges and a beach bar . Bring swim shoes ! They have a 24 hour snack bar ,lobby bar and buffet! Plus so much more ! Must see ! The people were the most amazing!

Grand Memories Holguin: Fantastic Vacation

My daughter and I recently visited Grand Memories Sanctuary. When we booked our trip we were upgraded and it was amazing. The hotel was very clean, all staff were so kind and always made us smile. We never had any problems with finding something good to eat. We actually loved the Italian the best. The cheese pizza was delicious. Our lobster lunch was a great finish to an amazing holiday.

Grand Memories Holguin: visual communication

The hotel does not use visual communication. It is very difficult to find the spaces and their contents because there are no markings of where things are and in which direction. It is especially difficult to find elevators and toilets, which should be marked with visible signs and a light above. The same is true outside the hotel, swimming pools, beaches, restaurants, bars

Playa Costa Verde: Good and not so Good week at Playa Costa Verde

Just returned from a good and not so good week at Playa Costa Verde. Good Staff were excellent and very friendly. Beach was gorgeous and the pool was good but needed some repairs. Our room 5422 was good, lots of hot water and good pressure. Grounds were well kept and very clean. Beer, Wine, Rum, Voldka drinks were good. Ice Cream (Chocolate) was very good. Pasta, Eggs and Fish were in good supply. Ala Carte restaurants were good . Not so good Lack of toilet paper some days. No  [... read more]Olives, Lemon's or Lime's for Martini's or mixed drinks. No milk for two days, so Black Coffee and Tea and no specialty coffee's those days either. Few or no condiments for Hot Dogs, Fries etc. No Pizza for first 5 days, then they had heated up frozen pizza. Little or no cheese. No Hamburgers. No Ketchup, Mustard, Hot sauce We went with friends, so had a good week despite the shortfalls. If you don't mind carrying around your own condiments for breakfast, lunch and dinner the food is ok. Covid has really set Cuba and especially this resort back. We will no be returning until Cuba gets things back to the way it used to be.....

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort

This is our second time at this resort and we absolutely love it Sure there are food shortages but that's all over Cuba but you will always find something to eat and boy did we eat!!!! Playa Pesquero: Great Resort

This is our 3rd time back to Playa Pesquero. The hotel staff are outstanding and will go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. The beaches are some of the best in the world, that beautiful blue water and the white sand! Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Stay Away (from cuba)

A struggle to get water and toilette paper, rude staff, food tastes dirty, everyone I travelled with got sick, no mixes for drinks, All water except for your water in your room (which you only get one bottle of) tastes like dirt and may not be safe to drink (tap water), No pop/soft drinks, meat made me sick. Minimal shady areas by the pool. Power goes out in room at least once a day. If you ask for water they dismiss you, I needed toilette paper in the gym and they dismissed me and said "No to [... read more]ilette paper". Country lacks resources to run an all inclusive resort. Off resort locals won't serve you. Resort is new which is a plus but everything else trumps this.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Great Resort

The hotel was clean, the rooms were always clean. The beach was nice and the pools were nice. The rooftop bar was nice, you have to pay for drinks but worth it for the beautiful sunset. The food was ok.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Too "Canadian", no authentic culture

Pros- Most staff were kind, friendly and wonderful. The grounds were clean, well kept and well designed. The pool and beaches were stunning. There was plenty of food, no one would go hungry at all. Cons- The resort is "white washed". No Cuban authenticity. The food was catered to Canadians and that's not what we travel for. Not once did we see black beans and rice- a Cuban staple. Not once did we see croquettes, yukka and there was a distinct lack of tropical fruits. Not one banana nor mang [... read more]o all week. Wild life is almost non existent, which is so bizarre. Lizards, tree frogs were missing. Dogs/cats shooed away. Every other resort we've been to, this has not been the case. The lack of follow up for any "rules" they list. Excessively drunk people constantly -both foreign and local guests. There was one local guest who was so sloppy drunk there was a puddle around her and she demanded the bar play her music during the busy evening time. Just obnoxious. They should be cut off. Period. The "saving" of lounge beds and seats at the beach, only to see no one show up for them to use is infuriating. Speaking of- the many many rude guests. Just because you can smoke in Cuba, doesn't mean you leave your manners at the door. The smokers were so rude, lighting up wherever, whenever. The amount of parents who dragged their infants and toddlers to this resort is enough to never return again. Why are you bringing small children who get absolutely nothing out of these types of trips with you? Or parents who bring their screaming kids to the A La Carte restaurants. Good lord. How about we talk about the many guests who were blaring music in the rooms with no regard for other guests who paid just as much as them. The check in was atrocious. The day we arrived on a large flight from Toronto, apparently a flight from Cuba to Halifax was cancelled. The room upgrade we paid for wasn't ready and wouldn't be for hours- at 3pm- the check in time. Why? They allowed the Halifax people to return to their rooms vs pleasing the new group that would be there an entire week (or more). Made no sense. We finally agreed to the standard room just to get somewhere to rest. Missing pop and drink mixes on certain days, never had any cheese all week (other than parmesan) and a lack of seafood... in Cuba. While I understand there are shortages and times are rough, after speaking to other guests from other resorts (while on an excursion) they didn't experience these same lack of products. While not within the resorts control, but the removal of the CUC was a very dumb decision by Prez Miguel. The fact that all items are in USD is just silliness. All in all I won't return as there was nothing Cuban about this resort. Just catered to wealthy white people from mostly Quebec. I'll stick to 2 and 3 star resorts. This 4-5 star is not my style. Lesson learned.

Playa Costa Verde: Excellent and extremely warm staff

Hotel staff at all levels continue to make you feel that Hotel Playa Costa Verde is your second home. There were some shortages resulting from supp chain and embargo issues, like milk and burgers. However there were tons of other selections. Plan to return in August. My stay was like a dream that you are in control off.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Wonderful hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at luna marrs as all ways even with only half open and supply shortages. Our 13th trip and will go back. Our trouble was with air transit after driving 3 hours to airport thay delay the flight 14 hours. 1st notice was when we dropped off our baggage 3 hours ahead. Next morning at check in thay gave us meal slips to be used at the airport .we already had breakfast and these expired the next day. Thay should of been useable on air transit plain. Brisas Guardalavaca: good resort

We all thought the hotel was good overall. They had soap in all bathrooms 90 percent of the time , toilet paper less than that . Shortages are common on the island.They had enough food in buffet , no wine until 2 weeks into our trip and no liqueurs If you don't like noise get end of hotel rooms or villas . Room was good except for power plugs should be replaced as you had to play with them to make them work . loose connections in sockets so no power .Grounds were kept well and they were replac [... read more]ing a lot of walkway tile in April . Front desk more helpful than Club Amigo although they need more bellboys when a bus comes in. We had to handle all our luggage (lots) but they had trolley carts , so we survived. Beach is great . Most of the staff was friendly and accommodating , a few were not and should not be working there. Would not serve tables , on phone all the time , etc. As a 3.5 star hotel goes it was just fine and had all we needed.
