Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: First Time in Dominican

April 2013, 4 of us stay at the Gran Bahia Principe in La Romana. Rooms were clean, well furnished and quite nice by North American standards. Bathroom was modern and worked well. The pool was lovely and everyone was very friendly. The restaurants provided excellent food. The beach is nice but the water is not clear. So if you intend to snorkel in clear water, you will have to do an excursion. Did several excursions....best one was Catamaran cruise/snokelling to Catalina Island with a few stops [... read more] along the way. Catamaran trip to Saona Island was OK, but catamaran itself was not near as nice as our first excursion. If you do the go-carting excursion, be prepared to have food/toys etc to give to children in villages...we were not prepared for this and it was a bit upsetting to not have had enough for all of them (about 20 kids). The tour of the tobacco plantation was really good too. We learned quite a bit. Overall, we would return to this resort as it was very good value for the money. Just be prepared to travel a bit for excursions and crystal clear waters.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Excellent holiday vacation

The resort is a great place for beach lovers as there is plenty of space and guests are not crowded on top of each over. The food is very good and I appreciate the closed area where the buffets are kept to keep things fresh and safe. The rooms we stayed in were dated but kept clean.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Good Resort for Price

Staff is very friendly. A short ride form the airport, service was a bit slow at poolside bar but just because of traffic. The drinks (once you get them to customize them a bit) were good. Food was decent - enough choice for every meal. Poolside and beachside were great. Nice, relaxing environment. Nightly activities were entertaining.

This will not be my last time to this location ... remote and away from it all just what we were looking for ... NOT a party place but that is just fine with me ... if you want crazy go to Cancun ... thank you Tripcentral

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Excellent vacation! Amazing resort!

The service was very good. Staff were very friendly. À la carte restaurant was slow. Buffet food delicious. Rooms excellent. Nice beach except for troubled water. Not far from airport. Very nice atmosphere.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Very Nice Resort

Overall, I thought this resort was quite lovely. Great beach, decent service, good, if not spectacular food. Nice facilities, including bar areas. Really nice grounds with lots of greenery. Music at the main entertainment area at night a bit loud.

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach: Pleasantly Surprised

I believe this resort is under rated. The grounds and beach were absolutely beautiful and well maintained. There are a variety of accommodations on the resort and even though our room was quite small and dated, it was well cleaned and supplies were replenished daily. Our travelling companions were in a bungalow, which was very charming. There are only two bars on this large property; however, the bartenders were pleasant and efficient. The buffet had lots to choose from and the Pizza Bar was gre [... read more]at! The hamburgers and hotdogs at the poolside grill were a little undercooked for my liking. There was a language barrier at the front desk and also with the Concierge (there were very few English speaking guests at the resort). Booking Ala Carte dinners was a little bizarre in that they said they couldn't accommodate our companions to accompany us at dinner one evening as our table was only big enough for three people and upon our arrival our table was set for four and the restaurant only had five tables in use during the time we were there. For our second Ala Carte they said they could accommodate all four of us if we would take an earlier reservation, which we did. Upon arrival at the earlier time they advised us they were not quite ready for us and asked us to wait outside for a moment. When we did get in, there were again only a handful of tables in use the whole time we were there. On the up side, the food at the Ala Cartes was quite good. I would be more than happy to return to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Disappointed

It's a long way to go for indifferent service, food not properly kept heated & a hotel that doesn't meet obligations. We paid for an ocean view for 3 adults. We had to move rooms 2 times and be very insistent to get it. Our ocean view also included a view of the back of the restaurant complete with sound of the A/C. Never going with this company again

Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus: Fun in the Caribbean Sun

Loved this place - very laid back atmosphere - sea is calm & tranquil on this side compare to the atlantic side - room was nice with ocean view. We enjoyed to food and nice hospitality. The snorkling was just off shore and we could see many colorful fish.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Good value

This resort is for couples who want to just relax and chill. It was exactly what we were looking for a good value. The rooms are large and new. The beach is excellent with lots of cabanas and shade trees. It is part of a huge golf resort that is just being developed and there are miles of roads for runners. The gym however is very small and limited. The best part of the resort is the service - absolutely outstanding. Food is good but not outstanding, but as I say excellent value. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Excellant Resort

This resort is by far the best resort we have been to. Staff and Management went out of their way so keep everybody happy. Everything was clean as a whistle. The only thing we did find but not too bad was the food was not hot enough in the buffets.

Everyone and everything was fantastic but beach not so good or the color of the water maki lots of stone not so nice for 5* resort.Will not returned again. To many biutifall beaches in Carabiniers places to visit .

I really enjoy this resort. Love the poll area and not to big. food is good and rooms are clean. I take vacations by myself and really enjoy the peace and quiet of this resort. I would recommend it to anyone.

The resort is gorgeous, but the service it's way substandard. Would not go back, if they would offer us a free week. Went there to talk about organizing our wedding. The lady said in the email that she will find us. Spent there a week, never heard from her.

Beautiful resort but became ill from the food along with about 40 or 50 other people at the resort. Won't ever go back!!! The beach and pools were lovely. Ths sower in our first room leaked all over the floor so we had to switch rooms.

hotel very clean an staff were awesome. Grounds were very well kept. beach was vantastic with one complaint, should not be able to reserve chairs overnight. if you do not get up a five in morning you may not get a chair. water was very cloudy as locals were dredging sand from the bottom to make cement for future condos. when the pump was not running( which was two days out of seven ) the water would start to clear. the cloudiness was not from the river as we were told before we booked. Viva Dominicus Palace by Wyndham: Amazing Vacation. Very relaxing.

It was beautiful. The staff and entertainers were extremely friendly and helpful. We liked how the entertainers involved our children. We really enjoyed the daily and nightly entertainment. We would definitely go back again.

room and location was very nice...almost right on the beach...room service was very slow and food quality could have been much better...in most cases, hot food was not hot...language barrier led to many orders not being accurate...wifi too expensive...staff was very friendly in most cases but when asked for help, the communication to the specific staff to get things done was very poor...

Hotel grounds were impeccably kept. Staff were super friendly and happy and not pushy at all. Gabriel is an amazing asset to this hotel - truly cares about guest experience. Food was mediocre Beach was disappointing - would give this a 5 if the beach was good. Strange that beach & pool are together on this rating form (below) - pool was great!
