Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Very nice resort.

The hotel is well maintained with species rooms well equipped and clean. The service is great. Grounds are beautiful except the beech. it is not the ideal beech because of it's nature but it could be better if it would be kept clean from derbies, like broken branches and most importantly the death fish.

Hotel Villas Playa Samara: Nice quiet Resort

This is a small, quiet Resort. We had a one room Villa. The Beach is very child safe, clean and not too busy. The Resort has only one Buffet Dining and one A La Carte Restaurant. The Buffet has a good Fruit and Salad selection every day and good selection of International cuisine daily. The A La Carte had poor service, it overbooked and very limited menu. Room was very clean although the Maids sometimes forgot to leave towels. I would rate this Resort 3 Star. I would recommend it.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Amazing Resort!!!

The service was wonderful, absolutely perfect! Pools were gorgeous!!! Had an amazing time and would go back! Beach isn't the best, but the pools made up for it! Loved our room, faced the trees and had monkeys visit us in the mornings! Great food and drinks! Fun on the waterslides!

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Excellent Resort!

The whole experience was amazing, property was beautiful & clean. The pools were great and always clean. The rooms were large and always stocked and cleaned. A great feature is room service anytime you want included. All the staff is welcoming and nice. I would definitely return to this resort

Villas Sol: Villas Sol

We met some great people at Villas Sol who were guests, and the staff in the bars and restaurants were great, but were very disappointed in the staff working in the reception area of the hotel. Certainly not a good choice for anyone who has difficulty walking (lots of stairs and hills). We found better deals on excursions in Coco Beach with more variety than offered at Villas Sol. However, staff make you sign a waiver if waiting outside the gate for an external tour company - no big deal!

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Beautiful place and people

The service at this resort was incredible. They took the time to learn my kids' names and also teach them Spanish. The whole resort was a well oiled machine. My only negative would be that the excursion options were limited and not kid friendly.

Occidental Tamarindo: Great Respite from Canadian Winter

The Occidental, Tamarindo is a lovely, compact, resort located on the south west coast of Costa Rica. It's most outstanding feature is the beach which was expansive, full of soft white sand and ever changing with the tides. The resort itself is beautifully appointed with palm trees and gardens. Given that it is not as spread out as many others, it was very easy to navigate and lent itself to meeting people by the one, large, pool. The rooms are comfortable and while they are clean, the décor is beginning to look a little outdated with some small details in need of repair. The balconies, however, are all new glass and very welcoming to sit and enjoy a morning coffee. The best part in regards to our unit were the beds...they were incredibly comfortable which goes far towards a restful holiday.The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The bar staff in particular were fast with service and made the day most enjoyable. The town of Tamarindo is a 20 minute walk away with lots to see en route such as monkeys, restaurants and stores. While we made the most of the all inclusive aspect of the hotel, the food was not always as appetizing. We enjoyed one evening of the a-la-carte restaurant which offered better quality fare but otherwise, the main restaurant on sight did their best to serve a variety of meals that were reasonable. Nevertheless, plan on a couple of restaurant visits in town to broaden your choices. We would return to this resort again and will certainly recommend it to our friends.

Had a great time at Dreams Las Marenas. Staff were very friendl, good service, good food. Would recommend this resort to groups, people with and without kids. It has activities and accommodations for all family types.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Hidden Paradise

Dreams Las Mareas is a beautiful 5 star resort. The grounds are spectacular and well maintained. The many pools seem to connect one to the other. Often buffets tend to become boring after a couple of meals, but Dreams keeps it fresh and exciting day after day with their many themed meals. Dine in or out at the buffet that is set up every evening on the patio, the choice is completely yours. The food at the al la carte restaurants is above and beyond. Top shelf liquor is available at the bar or grab a creative drink by the pool. Our room was always well cleaned and the mini bar was stocked with the type of liquor we preferred. The only negative I can mention is, if going on excursions is your preference, Dreams is far from many excursions making it difficult to do so.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Felt like Home!

Of all our Family vacations in the last 5 years this tops them all! The Riu palace staff are the best! By the second day they felt like friends we've had for years. This resort is clean, beautifully maintained and the food and drinks are equally as good. There is always lots to do like feeding the monkeys, plenty of excursions (highly recommend the horseback riding!!) and the nightly entertainment is fantastic! Punta Leona Beach Club and Nature Resort: Beautiful resort

We travelled as a family with teenagers. The resort is extremely large with homes mixed into the resort. From the all inclusive rooms it is a 5 minute walk to the main reception, pools, bars and beach. Close to the Salvamar section (all inclusive) is the buffet restaurant and small pool. The food was great at all the restaurants. The property was full of iguanas, monkeys and Scarlet macaws. They have transportation to take you to the beaches if walking is an issue. We had to visit the nurses on  [... read more]site for a medical issue. They were wonderful and there is no charge for their services (my daughter required two injections for an allergic reaction). The reception staff were extremely helpful when we were required to go to the hospital in the nearby town of Jaco. The only drawback to this resort is that it is about a 15 minute drive in from the main road, which makes it difficult to see nearby towns without renting a car.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Good

Hotel was good, food was good only at the buffet, the food at the restaurants was not good, service was extremely poor at the restaurants..It was a waste of time going to the restaurants. The beach is not good. This hotel is too far from everything and its difficult to travel with kids.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Good resort

This was my third stay at an AMresort property. The hotel grounds were beautiful and well maintained, rooms were nice and food was good (although a bit inconsistent). We found the buffet to be our best bet when it came to meals since we were traveling with a big group. We managed to switch our room from Building 5 to Building 2 which had a much better ocean view vs jungle room view. However, if you’d like to see monkeys come to your balcony stick with Building 5! While most of us prefer the be [... read more]ach we chose to stay poolside for the majority of the trip since the water was cold and we are used to the Caribbean Sea. Overall, a great family trip. Keep in mind this isn’t the place to be if you’re looking for a hotel in a central location since it’s far from a lot of tourist attractions and excursions and the hotel is pretty quiet at night.

Coco Beach Hotel and Casino: Hotel is dated.

We stayed there for 1 week during Jan. 23-30 2018. This hotel is comparable to most 2-3 star Cuban hotels, dated, stained bed sheets and towels, safe was broken, no fridge, hair dryer or telephone in our room. Wind gusts and clouds of dust would cover the outdoor restaurant most mornings. There was very little mosquitos but time share pushers were everywhere:-(. Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: The resort

The rooms were great but the mountain view was not the best. We would have preferred a view of the beach. The service was exceptional, and the people were kind and helpful. The buffet had a great variety of food. Could have had more steamed veggies for those who are wary of eating raw foods.

Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica: Dreams Las Mareas beauty, service and solitude

Dreams Las Mareas is a fine resort in the remote mountains of Costa Rica. Service was excellent and amenities just fine for a smaller resort. Given the resort is away from the hustle and bustle of other areas and a bit smaller than we are used to, the entertainment was adequate but nothing special lacking full shows and 24 hour party. Daily activities were just average with the slide and trampoline open for limited times. Other than the entertainment or the lack of a warm Caribbean beach, the resort is amazing. Pools were beautiful, food and gardens abundant. We were there for 10 days with an 11 year old and did 3 full day excursions. Deep sea fishing was awesone. The areas of Jobo and La Cruz quite stunning and remote as is the day at Buena Vista. Dreams does not cater to a busy Caribbean vacation if you are looking for that. We did do a full day tour down to Tarmindo, Flamingo and Coco beaches and found the water was much warmer but the traffic and garbage a bit distracting and very touristy..... Dreams is a quality resort and the service, location (other than blue warm water), food and did I say service? was excellent. Staff do say It's a Pleasure. which is nice.. but Dreams is a newer resort and needs to find something that makes them "special" or "stand out" from others.....like focusing on the uniqueness of the area maybe...eco -boutique hotel in the mountains and maybe cater to environmental conscious people by offering recycling and not using straws or plastic and wasting so many dishes etc.. Great place to visit!

Riu Guanacaste: Loved the resort.

The grounds were very well kept and beautiful. Pool area also well kept and stunning. Lobby and restaurants well kept. One issue is with the booking of dinner reservations. System they use is horrible. You end up having to line up in your bathing suit at 6 pm in order to get an 8 pm reservation. There must be a better way so one can enjoy the sun/sunset and then get ready for the evening.

Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful resort

Very nice hotel, room was ok. Promised a king bed, got 2 doubles put together. Restaurants were very good, lots of variety in the buffets. There was 4 ala carts which had reservations, we ate at 3 of them, all very good. Grounds were very well kept someone was always around trimming grounds or cleaning up. Nightly entertainment was ok, nothing special. Awesome Pool, grounds around the pool where excellent. Plenty of bars throughout the hotel. Staff was very friendly. Entertainment staff were ve [... read more]ry good and friendly. Could have used a few more restrooms around the hotel, had to walk along way at times. Beach was ok for the area.

Secrets Papagayo Resort: Excellent Resort

Secrets Papayago is an incredible resort to stay in Costa Rica! Great scenery, excellent rooms that are very clean and well stocked. The service at the resort is first rate. A wide variety of food is offered at the 5 restaurants that is fresh and delicious. Beach areas are very short walk and easily accessible. Great spa facilities as well.
