Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing time and Fantastic Resort
This resort is amazing, the grounds are huge and the beach is 1st class. We loved the employees at the resort as well as the transfers. The food offered at this resort is the best I have ever had. Each night was a different restaurant and the food at each was delious and the desserts were to die for. The only complaint that I would have is the reception, they were very slow and didn't understand english very well. Once we were checked in everything went great and we had a great time.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Great resort
The resort was really nice, rooms can use some updating and entertainment can be a bit better , the buffet was great! Food was awesome just a bit repetitive... the a la carte restaurants need too step it up ... food and service from ala carte was good but not spectacular... over all an awesome resort.. beautiful beach! And well worth it

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Relaxing resort
The resort was clean and very well maintained. Room service was excellent and the staff very helpful. Our room was cleaned early in the day so anytime we went back it was done. This resort has many areas besides the beautiful beach and pool to go and relax. The shows as we're very entertaining.

Melia Braco Village: Excellent resort
The entire facility has been completely re done. Exceptionally clean, all working personel were friendly, respective, and always went the extra mile to create a beautiful vacation. The place is like a small village with five restaurants and Coble stone walkways. THE FOOD IS BY FAR THE BEST SURPRISE. The
quality was excellent as well as the constant entertainment through out the entire day and evening.

Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort
Lovely newer resort with fabulous staff. Food was amazing. Only criticism is no hot water for the shower in our room. The tub was fine but not the shower. Our room kept having lots of power outages. Beach could have been kept a little cleaner as well. Lots of seaweed. But overall a great place.

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Superb family-friendly experience!
We felt very at home with the wonderful people who cleaned our room, our concierge, the waiters, the bartenders, the chefs, and especially the kids zone staff. Every need was tended too and our children were occupied by the pools, kid zone and the beach so, in turn, my husband and I were able to relax as well. We will be back!

Paradisus Punta Cana: 5 STAR RESORT
This is the nicest and cleanest and friendliest resort we have ever stayed at! Starting at check in, the manager Luis upgraded us to an updated suite in a superior location. Our room was clean, bright and very spacious with a large balcony and a mini fridge that was always restocked with drinks and snacks. The food was excellent and a huge variety and we were given a reservation at all the separate restaurants too, We tried them all. The resort had the largest section of the most beautiful be[... read more]ach that stretched on for miles in both direction. Paradisus had three times the beach front than any other resort on Bavaro. Jose Reyes was the beach attendant and he was exceptional, extremely attentive and so friendly and chatty. There was always a bed (love them) on the beach and lounge chairs by the pool available! This surprised us with it being March Break! At the pool Jose Fernandes kept us busy with dancing lessons and pool exercises. He was friendly and happy and inclusive. The shows at night were excellent, (especially Michael Jackson). We do not have one negative thing to say about the resort. We loved it and would definitely highly recommend it!

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort with few negative points
Hotel is beautiful. Modern style and well kept. It is very clean. We had a Jr Suite and it was beautiful; lot of space, and very clean. Food is the best I have ever had among all the resorts I went I recommend Fuego and The Palapa for dinner. Staff is very kind and dedicated. Many transats and Bali beds at beach and pool; it is easy to get one.
There are few issues. The resort space is not well exploited as far as we are concerned.
-There are many nice bars but they are all empty making[... read more] atmosphere boring. -Lot of empty space where they could for instance organize evening events like a tapas bar with music.
-The nightlife is rather quiet and when there is a show, it is not in a theatre; the stage is on the main floor and it is hard to see if you are not seated in front row.
-Beach is rather small.
-Buffet is a little limited in variety but food is good.
-The adult section should have the tequila tasting salon and the cigar room rather than the family section.
-Towel system should be revised; they are very strict you only have one towel you can change whenever you want. One of the person travelling with us has backspin. We asked for an extra towel and the hotel staff refused to satisfy our demand even after we explained him the reason why
Though I really enjoyed by vacation at Paradisus La Perla.I probably will not go back because of the atmosphere.

Zel Punta Cana - All Suites: Beautiful resort but...
The resort was beautiful and immaculately maintained. The rooms were beautifully appointed. The food was quite good on the whole although probably not the island you want to have steak on. I would recommend sticking with fish as its fresh!
We have a 2 year old and they have so much for kids to do. Very kid friendly. This is why we chose this resort. One huge caveat though and I think the resort didn't address properly. They're too afraid to offend guests. There were a couple of people in the k[... read more]ids area and even in the kids pool smoking!!! Staff did ask them to stop but they continued. I understand that the resort is not a non smoking resort but they NEED. To make kids area and pools non smoking. Anything less is an insult to parents with young kids that can't swim in other pools. Frankly this is a deal breaker and as much as I liked the resort I won't be back. Frankly I may not return to DR if they are so smoker friendly. This is beneath our standards.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Decent hotel, good staff
We recently returned from a stay at the Melia PV. We had an upgraded room (Ocean front) which was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, and it was extremely quiet. It had probably been renovated as there was no sign of it being dated at all.
The buffet was fairly good. the selection was very limited, but what was offered was very tasty. It wasn't the usual bland, buffet food, but had nice flavor, use of herbs and spices, etc. There were simple things missing like jam, cheese for b[... read more]reakfast, but we always found something good to eat.
We only ate at the lunch restaurant twice: they had great selection and a really good pizza selection (fresh and lovely crust).
The staff were very helpful for the most part and we had no issues. The bar tenders at the lobby bar were very friendly and the staff providing service around the pool were quick and courteous.
The clientele was extensively families with young kids, as it has a kids club. Made it fairly 'screamy' at the pool. The other half seemed to be fairly senior. We saw very few people in our age range (early 50's) and English.
This hotel is in the Marina zone and very handy to shopping. You can pick up a city bus just outside the hotel. The buses are frequent but bring your ear plugs as they are very noisy!
Beaches in PV are okay but no one really swims in the ocean as it apparently has a lot of under tows.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Superb Resort
The entire resort is 5 star.......from the food to the rooms to the great staff to the amenities to the bars and a la carte restaurants. First rate.
However my wife had her phone stolen from our room. She and I both know that it was a maintenance guy who was in the room when we were at dinner. He was there to fix the toilet. I know he swiped it.
Security came in to our room. They did a thorough investigation etc. and then provided my wife with a letter that was pure BS......not appreciated[... read more]!!

The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort for Families!
We loved this resort - travelled as a couple with baby and grandparents. Stayed in two, one bedroom suites which were huge. We did not upgrade to family concierge. Beautiful grounds - easy to walk, above average AI food, excellent drinks, friendly customer service. Absolutely geared to families looking for a higher-end vacation - lots of well behaved kids and babies. I would truly recommend elsewhere if you are looking for a party scene, entertainment or a rowdy crowd. The resort is one of the f[... read more]ew higher end resorts left that are not adults only so leave this one for the wee ones if children are bothersome to you :) Rooms are well appointed but can be incredibly noisy depending in how careless your neighbours are - bring a white noise machine for children (they could use some door silencers/jammers to prevent banging doors at all hours and some covers on chair bottom covers to prevent squealing chairs being dragged across suites). In addition there are about 20 light switches and two thermostats which can cause alot of frustration. Pool is huge/clean and ocean is lovely - shaded chairs are (almost) always available. Shuttle can take you to the beach - or you can walk (probably about 12 minute walk) - as a guest of The Reserve there is a private bar/washrooms and sectioned off part of the beach which is an awesome perk if you are a shade seeker/need shade for your little one! No problem booking a la cartes a few days in advance, just see the concierge in your building soon after you arrive. We enjoyed Vento, The Grill, and the teppanyaki the best! Enjoy!

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Paradise at Paradisus La Perla
I still recall sitting down with our travel agent, Tanya V, and hearing about all of the wonderful things Paradisus La Perla has to offer. After seeing and experiencing the resort first hand, I am 100% positive we made the right choice (with her help!).
Check in: We were greeted upon arrival with a cool towel, a purple drink, an intoxicating aroma as well as stunning decor. Our room was not ready (they had overbooked) and we were upgraded to a one bedroom suite without any extra charges. They[... read more] pushed two queen beds together to make it one of the biggest, most comfortable beds I've ever stayed in (I'm used to sleeping with a 100lbs bulldog and a 6'4 boyfriend, both who hog the bed and snore, so I was more than pleased.)
Room: Modern, stylish, and clean as could be. We had living room area, a jacuzzi tub on the balcony, and a little kitchenette. Air conditioner worked great and again, incredibly comfortable beds/pillows. (There is a pillow menu!)
Resort: Breathtakingly beautiful and well maintained. There is peaceful soft music playing while you walk through, taking in the tranquil ponds with coyfish, turtles, plant life, and art sculptures. They also have one of the nicest gyms I've ever witnessed. Honestly, the staff there have thought of everything to provide the best service you could possibly want, always with a smile on their face and happy to help.
Food: Incredible. I left 6lbs heavier. Room Service around the clock. My favs were: Vento, Oilo, and The Grill. The fish tacos at the Pool side restaurant were so, so yummy. And the I'm already missing my after dessert, dessert: the scoop of gelato ice cream I would get on the family side buffet.
Beach and Pool: The beach was very nice. Again, the staff work so hard to maintain the property (the beach has some seaweed that requires daily removal). The beach servers, Ricardo and Freddy, were so very attentive, personal, and kept the drinks coming! The main adult pool is more of a party atmosphere and great for people watching/relaxing in a pool side cabana.
What I would have changed:
I wish I would have been more firm with the person who was encouraging me to attend the hour long presentation (timeshare kind of thing) as I felt like she was intensionally trying to make me feel bad for saying no and kind of taking away from the excitement of just arriving at the resort.
Our Nexus Tour guide accidentally wrote the wrong resort entrance on our excursion receipt. So we had gone to bed early the night prior and waited at our resort entrance at the designated time, only to be left behind! The tour bus waited at La Esmeralda (family side), while we waited at La Perla, one "gran problema." I then waited in the lounge of La Esmeralda for an hour and a half for the Nexus Tour person to arrive in order to be refunded the money. Although this person was scheduled to arrive at 9am, it wasn't until someone from guest services assisted us by calling Nexus Tours. The person would not issue a refund over the phone and were trying to push back a bit by attempting to say that we weren't in the lobby at the right time. After some serious back and forth, which was incredibly unprofessional and not accommodating whatsoever, the Nexus employee on the phone advised that a representative would be in at 4pm to assist us. Merisol was fast, efficient, and provided us with a refund within minutes of her prompt arrival at 4pm. We really appreciated that the agency called to follow up twice in order to apologize for the mix up, however, the bottom line was that it was precious time wasted waiting around. We are still awaiting the agency to process the refund (they advised it would be back on the card in the next 3 weeks) and indicated the intension of sending us a voucher for the mix up. In the end, I didn't get to see Tulum, however, we definitely made the best of our last day and this should not be a poor reflection of the hotel in any way.
Looking back at our week in paradise, these are the only two things I would have changed. La Perla's atmosphere, staff, service, and overall experience was over the top extraordinary. Don't wait another moment or look at any other resort option, La Perla is the place to go.
Special shout out to Venancio of Guest Services who went above and beyond to ensure our last day, despite the tour disappointment, was really special.
