Starfish Varadero: Nice place

I thought my stay was good overall. It was a big layout, between one place and the other. It was clean, people and staff very friendly. Good variety of food was available. If I had one complaint it would be that the internet connection was a bit slow. The only other complaint would be a lack of shade on the beach, people cabbage onto those spots by placing towels and what not and walking away only to return at their leisure. But that's not the fault of the resort, that's the fault of inconsidera [... read more]te individuals. I bought lots of gifts for the staff working there, If I had known then, as I do now, I would have booked my flight with a different carrier, as they allow an extra checked baggage for humanitarian aid. I could have brought a lot more with me then what is allowed 50 lbs. with the carrier I went with.

Club Kawama: Very nice

Beautiful beach, clean room,decent food. Would definitely go back again. The only thing missing is entertainment, there really isn't any. Close to bank and markets. Grounds well kept and most of the staff are very helpful.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Exceeded expectations!

The food was NOT bland, in fact it was excellent. The Japanese restaurant was our favourite but the others were excellent too. Resort is clean and well-maintained. Felt safe the whole time. Beach was awesome. Pool is the best we have seen. Wine with dinner was actually quite palletable (bottled, Chilean). The tips are expected despite what you might read... really hard to get CUC currency as the Cadeca cannot provide small denomination and then you are forced to give large tips (like 10 CUC = 15 [... read more] CAD)... Nobody wants to give change for a 10 CUC note. Restaurants setup the tipping so you feel obliged to tip more than once for a single meal. I guess the tips are the only negative but it is a big one. Loved it and going back next year for sure. Will try to source some currency in smaller denominations prior or at the beginning.

Playa Vista Azul: Fabulous Resort

Fabulous resort.The staff works dillengcy to ensure guests satisfaction. The grounds and buildings are well maintained.The entertainment at night includes musicians that are extremely talented.Easy to access.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Terrific Resort,Amazing Staff!!

The grounds are beautifully maintained, the food in all restaurants & buffets as great and all the staff are excellent especially Marion in the Italian restaurant and Marcello that is at the door to greet you when you get off the bus!

Hotel Villa Cuba: Worst Stay EVER!

The staff was rude , they locked us out of our room after we asked for a late check out and threaten myself and my husband, about keeping our passports and worst the room was full of bed bugs which we have photo proof of. I would like to speak to someone further about this as it was a VERY bad experience and I wouldn't suggest this place to ANYONE.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful Spot!

Had a great time at the Blau Marina with my young family. I would characterize it as a family oriented resort. The food was great, the staff was friendly and the rooms were sweet. My daughter really enjoyed all of the shows in the evenings. We would stay again!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: amazing resort!

Beautiful grounds! Wonderfully renovated, friendly staff, Crystal clear beach and the rooms were fantastic! No complaints about food though the 25$ lobster dinner was not worth it at all.. Resort is still not 100% open with ongoing renovations but we had a fabulous time and will be definitely returning!!

Starfish Jibacoa: Cuba Libre!

This resort was our first in Cuba. It had a great staff, perfect beach for snorkeling, and rooms were nice. Food wasn't incredible, but not a big deal. Off resort felt safe and had a few restaurants and shops to help support locals. We will return!

Palma Real: Not The Best

The facilities are very clean and the rooms are clean also. However, the food is absolutely awful. Cold and always the same thing. Even the a la carte restaurants (if you want to call them that) are the same. The staff is NOT friendly at all, so you don't have to worry about tipping if you don't want to. Never met my maid, but she was excellent. The beach is extremely small with broken chairs. If you want a chair, get there before 8:30 as you will have none. Starfish Varadero: Good Food , Good Fun ... Beautiful landscaped property and beach... lots of character ...

We really enjoyed our stay at Starfish....firstly... try to get beyond the insignificant updates needed to the rooms. They are clean. Who wants to stay in their room anyway when its so beautiful, the grounds are so wonderful, there is so much to do. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just enjoy your vacation. I had heard scary things about food. Again I was pleasantly surprised. Make sure to ask for no ice in drinks, be wary of buffet tables, as food may not be kept warm, so arrive early  [... read more]for each meal, but the food is good and plentiful. there are bbqs on the beach and Vinale Grill, and the snack bars have some good tasty selections. This is my first trip to Cuba, and I enjoyed this resort. Its a little noisy at times, lots of fun entertainment choices, and live music. Probably better for a younger or younger at heart crowd. 20-55. My main complaint has to do with communication issues between sunwing and the hotel. We had asked for consideration for our room to be near a working elevator, or to have few stairs and we had a long walk with lots of stairs, until I complained and the reception was good to find us a more suitable alternative close to a working elevator. Bungalows are nice, but our room was fine.

Club Karey: Read this before you book here!!!

This hotel is beach front but that is the only kind of good thing. The food in buffet was mostly mystery food and cold. The grill cook area was open not cooled meat trays and we watched the guy drip blood over other raw meats when cooking. Food safe procedures do not exist here. Both the pool bar and main lobby didnt know many drinks or didnt have ingredients to make them. Got charged for a safe that didnt work and they kept telling me they would fix it "tomorrow". My toilet was running all the time and I had to remove lid and close plug after each flush.The beach was a nice view but no lounge chairs. We only went there once as we ran into a guy that had flea bites all over his legs and he said they are from the beach. Could be from the random cats that hang at the pool or buffet area too. Yes begging for food right while you eat. We went cheap so we paid for what we got. Pool snack bar lady from 10-5 made good burgers fries and pizza so we ate there. Palma Real: Great for the price you pay!

All in all for the money we paid: this resort was clean, the staff was pretty friendly (considering how much they have to do for the guests) and the beach was just a 2 minute walk away. The food was so much better than 2 years ago (owner change) and the pool was clean. The downtown location can't be beat as we were so close to many restaurantstudents, clubs, market places and the carnival (awesome fried chicken there) I was greeted by the same friendly staff from 2 years ago...they remembered [... read more] who I was!!! Location, price, hospitality and all inclusive can't be beat at the Palma Real!!

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great Resort

Resort is very lovely, on the smaller side. The a la carte restaurants were all good, buffet good too. Heard food in Cuba would be horrible, but it wasn't. Not a lot of variety, and some repetition, but always something to eat. Beach was very nice, always chairs available. Trouble getting spot by the pool only on day of arrival. Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful resort

We thought the Ocean Vista Azul in Veradero was beautiful....clean....well kept and very nicely laid out. Not too large with two beautiful beaches. Would definitly recommend it. The staff were warm and hospitable

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great time at Princesa

We really enjoyed our trip to this resort. The resort is beautiful and the grounds are really nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is good for Cuba, drinks were very good, except for the pool bar. There never seemed to be many options at the pool bar. The staff was good however, so it helped make up for it. Rooms were clean and spacious. Overall, we liked the resort and had a great time.

Grand Memories Varadero: Beautiful!

This was my second time staying in Cuba and when I first walked into the resort I was in awe. The grounds, buildings, and pools are all beautiful. The staff were friendly and the food was great - we ate lobster almost every night at the buffet. The beaches were beautiful and well maintained. Overall a really nice resort and I would definitely stay here again. However, in terms of night entertainment, there isn't much going on past 10pm. Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful setting

The grounds of this resort were amazing - spacious and beautifully kept. Rooms were clean and spacious. There were activities mornings, afternoons and a show each evening. The beach was long and sandy. There was good snorkeling just off the beach. Meals were plentiful with a good choice of dishes. There was not a lot of variation from day to day. I was unable to find any local transportation.

Club Kawama: bad experience

dinning was the worst ever, some of that crap I would not feed to my dog. the building that we stayed in reminded me of some of the bombed out buildings that as children we played in. and those are not fond memories. the girls looking after the place do a great job with the resourses that they have.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great time!

Grand Memories is a very nice resort and the staff were awesome! The food was amazing with a lot of variety. We ate lobster 4 out of the 7 nights we were there. We did do 2 a la cartes while we were there and our family actually preferred the buffet. We had two rooms in the standard area that were a bit rundown but we did have running hot water and air conditioning. If you do stay in the standard area it is very quiet and a long walk to the beach!
