Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing Memories!

We recently stayed at this resort and were pleasantly surprised at its wonderful lay out, picturesque grounds and pristine beach and pool areas. We had an amazing time. Most staff are wonderful and we became close with a few special ones. We always had fresh towels, clean linen and water left for us everyday. The lobby bar was always buzzing with activity and fun. Hotel Los Cactus: Good Resort

We stayed at Los Cactus from Feb 19 to Feb 26/17. The resort although dated was in pretty good shape. When you drive up to the main entrance there is still a welcoming entrance in good shape. The staff were friendly although they were lightly staffed at the time. The resort we were told was sold when in fact it seemed to be in transition all through our stay. There were few if any staff on the grounds but the area was clean. The room was spotless although dated still nice. The bathroom however w [... read more]as old and the fixtures were old and worn , rusty and in desperate need of replacement. There was hot water , you just had to play the time of day game to get it. The maid was excellent and did a great job. There were supposed to be 3 A La Carte's and that was a stretch. The Italian was nice ! the Cuban has basically everyday fried chicken but was good ! the Grill was not !!!!! it was just the beach grill with table service ! The night we were there it was raining lightly with little cover !. This is not a A La Cartre it's just the basic beach Grill with table service !!!!!! (repeated) !. The buffet was clean and adequate ! it had limited selection but the hold temps were good. Service at the buffet for drinks and coffee was ok with some help yourself at times. Pool and area was spotless. The beach was excellent as expected except no clean up on Sunday !. We had a great week headed into town a couple of times on the bus (best way to see The whole Peninsula and reasonable 5Peso for all day !. Watch out at the Airport ! it seemed to be the place you had to be careful the most ! Our tour guide on the way to the Airport came off as helpful NOT ! She said if you have money to change back to Canadian to see her ! DO NOT DO THIS ! She will rip you OFF ! As well there were numerous people walking around the check in area with Canadian Currency trying to get you to exchange your Peso ! DO NOT DO THIS ! Wait until you check in and go up stairs there is a booth and they will give you the correct exchange ! (As long as you realize that the Cuban Government makes 7 % on all Money exchanges ! You buy for 1.37 and sell when you leave for 1.30 !!!!!!!!! THATS THE BEST YOU"LL GET !!! So we lose anyway ! AND DONT TIP ANYWHERE EXCEPT FOR GOOD SERVICE !! Which you will get the majority of the time ! To Sum it up ! The resort Ok ! The food Ok ! The Beach Perfect ! The Staff Great although limited ! The Experience a 31/2 out of 5 !

Melia Las Americas: a resort thats above any thing we seen to date

food was amazing from morning to night always something available .you don't feel well one day room service 24/7 wife was sick for a day staff brought a special tea to make her feel better and she did . beach is one of the best I have ever seen service at the beach bar very good . lobby bar staff made us feel like family all the staff at this resort was very respectful and were there when you needed something golf walk out the main gate and you are on the course and the course is in terrific sha [... read more]pe and golf is included but the main thing I noticed was the Manager was greeting everyone all through the hotel everyday he made time to see if there was anything he could do to make your trip better

Resonance Blu Varadero: Better than expected

This resort is pretty large so be prepared to walk quite a bit. The beach is beautiful and there are lots of chairs and palapas available. The staff are pretty good except a few seem unhappy and surely. The food is OK for Cuba. Not gourmet but you won't starve. Generally I would recommend this resort for a budget friendly vacation.

Palma Real: Decent Stay

The hotel was definitely nice enough! Service could have been a bit better, and it isn't exactly close to the beach. Buffet food was very repetitive and not the best, but that can probably be said about most buffets. I got a super saver room, and I think the stay was worth the money I paid.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Highly recommended

Grounds were beautiful- very well kept and groomed. Food was excellent and rooms very clean. The beach was amazing!!! Only complaint was that one day the lunch buffet at the beach ran out of food! Being at a 5 star this should not happen.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Not worth it

The beach was nice. Not enough lounge chairs. Pools had no shade in the day. Pool bar not open. Lobby bar always had a line. Beds were hard. Towels not changed just folded and put back. Beds just made and not changed with sand left in the sheets. When checking the room before we left under beds had lots of dust bunnies. Ran out of hot water. Door lock broke took 4 hours to temp fix. Remote for TV was changed on the third day for one that did not work, not sure why. Called the desk sent u [... read more]p a man who said he would replace it tomorrow, didn't see him again. Late check out requested for 8pm only available til 4. Had to sit in the lobby for 3 hours. Food was good lots of selection. Our tour guide was sick for the drive from the airport to the hotel.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: PARADISUS PRINCESSA DEL MAR

We stayed here from Feb 15 to Feb 26 2017, It was a 4.5 easy. The staff were wonderful, Food very Good all the beaches, pools were well kept bars were well stocked. Our chambermaid was excellent . The restaurants were very good. We ate in 5 different ones. The Buffets were clean,well stocked and food was fresh. Evening entertainment was top notch. A very enjoyable vacation.We would recommend this resort to anyone.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Great resort

The Iberostar Tainos was great! This was our second stay here. We stayed in a bungalow close to the beach and found it clean, quiet and well equipped. The a la carte restaurants we great and the buffet offered lots of choice. All staff were pleasant and accommodating . Beach and pool areas were beautiful, clean and well kept. Our only complaint was the showers we had to use in the gym before we left was awful we were very disappointed. We would go back to this resort again

Muthu Playa Varadero: Playa de Oro

What did I think about the hotel? The hotel was nice, the beach is to die for! The only complaint would be the rooms had mold Ex: on the lamps, walls. As well as the lack of towels. The service? Staff was very friendly and welcoming! Activities: The programming was very lacking and repetitive. The disco at night is horrible, the songs are the same every night. Bars: Excellent drinks! Food: The food was very good.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Nice Resort

Hotel was nicely spread out over a large area. Very long beach. It was at least a 5 minute walk from our room to the buffet with stairs (3rd floor room and extra stairs near main building) but we enjoyed it as the walkways were lined with pretty trees and shrubs. Got you moving which is also good as we ate and drank all week. Food was average to Cuban fair but the desserts were exceptional. Fish was very good. Always lots of food. Beaches were great for swimming but the entertainment was too n [... read more]oisy at times. The main lobby is very spacious and fancy. All in all we liked the resort and would recommend it.

Brisas Del Caribe: The Week of My Life

The hotel was amazing. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and the people were such a great time. My whole group loved the amount of patio seating both inside and outside the resort where we could hang out on the 1 rainy day we had, and get ready to party after dinner! Not to mention the STUNNING beach. We had a hard time peeling ourselves away from the beach to go in for lunch and dinner because the water and sand were both gorgeous.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort is Beautiful

The grounds are well kept. The front desk is manned with people who are always friendly and respond to all your requests. The maid service is excellent. The pools are well maintained. The service at the Buffet and the Ala Carte restaurants is excellent. The beach is excellent and the lounge chairs are always available. The WIFI is not good. The food was very good except for the beef.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Resort

Everything was fine, great staff, well kept grounds, beaches nice lots of beach chairs. Food fine, alcoholic beverages below average as are all Caribbean destinations these days in my opinion as they all seem to use powdered sugar based fruit juices instead of real fruit from a blender which was not that long ago. The air conditioning never reached set-point and little things like wobbly ceiling fans, sticky ( hard to slide) patio doors keep this hotel from being great. Starfish Jibacoa: A study in contrasts

Positives: - The grounds were beautiful and well-cared-for. - The location really is impressive. Areas needing improvement: - When we arrived just after 12:00 noon, our room wasn't ready. In fact, their was someone still staying in the room. 2 1/2 hours later, it still wasn't ready. We were tired and hungry from the travel and just wanted to shower and change. The front desk staff were rude and condescending, waving us away with her hand. So, our first impression, in all honesty [... read more], was very negative. - Being an all-inclusive resort, the menu became extremely tedious and repetitive by the third day. Basically, the majority of the food items were the same each lunch and dinner every day. Even the outdoor "barbecue" was the same food reheated. However, the a la carte restaurant was very nice. The wait staff there were first class. - The majority of the wait staff seemed very indifferent to the clientele. Some meals, you were totally ignored when you arrived as well as while you waited service. A certain wait time is expected, but after a while it becomes blatantly obvious they would like you to go to another servers section. Having said that, I must give tremendous credit to three wait-staff members who went out of their way to make the meal pleasurable for their clientele. - The rooms/bungalows are showing the weariness of age. (mildew in most of the corners, stains on some ceilings from leaks, cracked tiles in the floor, very thin and uncomfortable mattresses, etc.

Be Live Turquesa: great bang for the buck

The rooms were outdated but clean. Large sized, intimate little town rooms. Restaurants were limited Buffet good quality and tasty Overall impressed with Buffet. Intimate community, ideal for a quiet getaway. Not the resort for you if you are seeking amenities. There are small token amenities available.

Playa Vista Azul: Ocean Vista Azul Veradero

Prior to visiting the resort, I was very wary of its quality due to the reviews that I read online. When I arrived I was very pleasantly surprised. The resort is extremely modern, clean, and well kept. I could tell that it was much nicer than some of the neighbouring resorts that have peeling paint, and are quite unattractive on the exterior at least. I would stay at this resort again. Yes, there are some questionable dishes - but I think that this is standard across Cuba. Although there is not a large range of healthy options there is a consistent omelette bar in the mornings, sandwich supplies in the afternoons, and freshly grilled chicken in the evenings. The food was not an issue for me, and no one in my party of seven felt ill from the food. My criticisms of the resort include inconsistent event services and an unclear demographic. I attended this resort with my parents, and 5 of my friends from high school. My friends and I are all in second year university now, and we felt like we were the youngest people on the resort for the entire week. There were not many young children, or seniors. It seemed like most people were from the ages of 30-50 and were couples. However, it was not an overly romantic resort and I didn't feel like I was surrounded by honeymooners. The resorts events were poorly communicated and planned. Each employee in different locations on the resort seemed to have a different idea of where events such as yoga were occurring, only for me to discover after checking all suggested locations that it wasn't happening at all. My mother attempted to attend aqua aerobics multiple times, only for it not to occur. Throughout the week we learned that activities are loosely organized on the beach, and don't have much structure. The resort did have nightly dance shows which were good, and always occurred. Additionally, after our first night on the resort they said that they "banned disco's" and that there would no longer be any music playing in the 24hr beach bar facility in the evenings. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to people who are looking for a safe, clean, and beautiful place to stay. If you are looking for a social environment, I would not recommend this resort - but it is a great place to relax.

Barcelo Solymar: Great beach

The hotel was nice. It was clean, the maids came in everyday left clean towels. There was a day we had no running water, but it was fixed by 8 o'clock in the evening. Never run short of hot water which was nice. Beds were a bit hard, could have been a bit softer for the body. Changing money at the hotel was a complete ripoff. Was very inconsistent, they just charge whatever they feel like, no rhyme or reason as to what the exchange is. Go to the bank to exchange money. Pool was beautiful, we [... read more]ather was great, beach water was beautiful, part of the sand beach did have some garbage on it, sharp cans, straws, plastic glasses etc. but overall it was nice. Entertainment was good, bars were loud, fun and happening, lots of fun activities to do. My family had a good time.

Roc Barlovento: Excellent stay

A very good resort, clean, friendly staff and the food was good. The beach is amazing. The best I have ever seen. The entertainment during the day and at night was excellent. The location is also excellent, a walking distance from the market. Be sure to ask for the renovated rooms. I recommend this resort and will not hesitate to go back.

Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing Resort

The resort had a lot of land, so there was a lot of walking. Beach was amazing. Pools were very nice, and food was very good for Cuba. The beds in the rooms are very comfy. Was really relaxing overall
