Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beautiful Resort

All in all this was a great resort, especially for the price we paid. Most of the bartenders are fantastic (especially Gilbert at the 24hr bar!). The pools are the perfect temperature and kept very clean. We saw them being hand scrubbed! The Dining is a bit hit or miss. The Yucatan buffet was quite expansive and the fresh grill section always delivered great food. The Tao restaurant's teppanyaki was hands down our favourite, so delicious and always entertaining. We were not impressed you had to pay extra for the outside tipi type things. We didn't even make it to the rest of the restaurants but I heard good things about the bruschetta. The night life was a little disappointing while we were there but the resort in general wasn't very busy. You could go over to the next princess where the night club is - which we found odd since we were at the adults only section. We thought the club would be on our side but oh well. It was nice that we coukd go anywhere but only the Yucatan Platinum members were allowed in our area. The beach is quite beautiful with plenty of chairs and shade to choose from. There is seaweed that is cleaned up daily but you can't fault the resort for that. As far as we can tell the entire coast from at least Cancun past playa del Carmen is plagued by the stuff. It is definitely windy but it keeps you at a nice temperature during the peak heat hours. The staff were all around very helpful and friendly and clean. Beware the one lady that cleans the bathroom near the main bar, she will forcibly braid your hair and expect a tip! The room was very fancy at first glance but shows some wear and tear on close inspection. Nothing major and we were still thrilled about the size and appearance of the room. The free necklace amulet was also a nice touch as well as welcome Champagne. The location of the resort should also be mentioned as quite convenient. You are 15mins from playa and half hour from Cancun. So most excursions and tours (except for ruins) are quite close by and don't waste a lot of time on a bus or taxi. We went all over the place so we really appreciated the central location! Overall we had a fantastic experience at this resort and would definitely come back in the future. Bring your own sunscreen though! You own believe what they charge for it there...

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Breath taking resort

This was an incredible experience and stay at caracol eco resort! Thankyou for the amazing hospitality, service, food and entertainment. Myself as well as my young children had the time of our lives. We will definitely be back for another vacation in the near future. So much to do, so much to see and a relaxing atmosphere all in one.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing Vacation

Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort surpassed all our expectations. The service was top notch. The food delicious and fresh. The rooms were clean and quiet. The bed comfortable. Snorkeling right from shore was amazing. Saw lots of turtles and an aquarium of fish. I can't wait to return.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Stunning Resort

This Resort is absolutely amazing! It is beautiful, the beach is fantastic, the pools are massive and amazing! So much for kids to do. The entire Barcelo Maya Grand is spotless, they have thought of everything! The food is fabulous! There is so much to chose from, they have the most amazing desserts! We can't wait to return! Even the rooms are nice, even though we did not have a newly renovated room, the rooms were still fresh and clean. I consider myself and my husband to be very picky people, and we were so impressed! Mexican restaurant and Japanese our favourite a la carter, but they were all very good!

Grand Riviera Princess: Nice Family Vacation

The Grand Riviera Princess was grand. It is a very well designed hotel. It had many sitting areas to enjoy a relaxing drink, talk with friends or just enjoy the surroundings. The property is well maintained. The grounds are lush and well kept. The service was good. The food was good, not excellent. Always something to eat at the buffet and the restaurants were enjoyable. The beach is nice, however, snorkeling is nil at this beach. There should be more work at making sure the seaweed is r [... read more]emoved as it does give off a foul odor at times. It should not just be raked and buried. It should be completely removed from the property. Overall, this was a nice resort for a family vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Would never return

The 'Meh' 'Not my problem' Resort. I can whole heartedly say - we will never return to Grand Bahia Principe Tulum. This is the worst resort we have ever experienced. There were a few positives, but these were overshadowed by the mass of negatives. This resort is absolutely huge, and the fact they have so many guests - the majority of the staff don't seem to care about the standard of service they give. They have a 'not my problem' kind of attitude. There were a few very polite, smiling  [... read more]staff but overall it was service with a snarl. We attempted to book our a la carte reservations on the day we arrived - we were only able to book 10.30pm reservations for the end of our vacation - nothing else available at all. We were able to secure an earlier reservation at another restaurant but only after speaking with guest services. On a positive note La Gormet restaurant was pretty good. The food in the buffet was mass slop. Often sat out for too long, and not consistent temperatures. Some days we lived off pizza and fries because everything else was flavourless mush. We are not picky eaters and have been to multiple resorts in Mexico - this is the first time we have struggled to find something at a hotel buffet. We were part of a 40 person wedding group, which was specified on booking and confirmed by the bride prior to our arrival - we were on the absolute opposite side of the resort to everyone else. I know close rooms can't be guaranteed but it would have been nice. During the wedding guests were told to be in the lobby for 2.30pm to be transported to the wedding ceremony. At 2.45pm no transport had arrived and when my fiancé asked he was told 'call wedding coordinator not my job'. Our room itself had broken air conditioning. We reported this 3 times and then gave up as nothing was done about it. It made for some uncomfortably hot nights sleep. We also woke up the morning after the wedding to find no running water, and we had one evening with no power in our room. These latter two problems were fixed but not promptly. The night of the wedding we found a room service menu in our room and called for room service. We were told 'is no for your room' and to go to the snack bar. It said nowhere in this menu it was only for certain guests. We went to the snack bar and found scraps of food , we asked the staff if more would be coming out and were ignored. We went back to reception and inquired about paying for room service as at this point we were ravenous - we were told 'no for your room' and when we asked how much it would be to add it on we were told its not possible. When we checked out the manager had a note of our problems on file and said 'we could have added room service to your room no problem' but this was obviously too little too late. We complained about the above on multiple occasions and were told the manager would contact us. On the last day we received a letter telling us to speak with a guest service manager. At this point we just wanted to enjoy the last of our trip. On check out the manager spoke with us, we did get an apology but it was very much brushed off that we didn't speak with them soon enough to rectify the issues - although we did raise the concerns during the week as they happened. By the end of our week we were ready to leave, fed up of almost being run over by golf carts every where we went and generally unhappy looking staff. If you have got this far into reading my review - I will say we still managed to enjoy our trip on the whole, but this resort is far below the standard advertised. Do your research and go elsewhere - there are MUCH better resorts in Mexico.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Go back again anytime!!

We absolutely loved this place. For our first trip to Mexico, it was hard to decide where to go. After many days of research. We came up with barcelos. Best decision we've ever made. Already planning another trip in Christmas time. Highly recommend this place.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great For The Value

Food and cleanliness exceeded my expectations for what we paid. The beach isn't great but we still spent 2 days on it. Lots of pools and games. Staff very annoying in lobby selling time shares. Do yourself a favor and ignore them completely. Some of the trolley drivers are irritating as well. They play games and say they aren't going places, but a for tip it's no problem. Really not a big deal once you catch on and depending on what villa you stay there will be lots of walking. We were proba [... read more]bly in the furthest one away so it was about a 10 minute walk to the lobby. I just saw it as good chance to shake last night's drinks! Hacienda is fun with a casino and lively disco if you want to stay up later. Never really waited too long for drinks or food. They do shut down a bit early but there are 24 hour snack bars. It's is a little far from the towns but it's a pretty lively resort so we always found stuff to do, and lots we didn't get too. If this is your first time going to Mexico I'd think you'd enjoy it. For us we had a great but would probably try somewhere else next time.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Loved our stay

We loved our stay! The only blip on an otherwise fantastic experience was the fact that we booked for a King room and got 2 double beds. Otherwise we loved the beach, the service was great (staff were so friendly).

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: Good food and service

Nice small resort, very good food and service; on a level higher than typical Mexico resorts which are already good. beach has seaweed, but cabanas were very nice. Rooms were well kept and clean, room service was fast and very good. Family friendly.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great Family Resort

It was a nice resort with lots to do for the family. They always had something on the go. You could enjoy the fun by the pool or you could head to the beach. The beach had quite the seaweed issue this year but the safe worked really hard to keep it cleaned. Everyone was friendly and always willing to help out. I am not much of a buffet girl but they always had something to choose from. I enjoyed the a la cartes but booking was certainly a challenge and required some patience and sometime [... read more]s you had to be diligent to check again and not take no for an answer. They definitely went the extra mile for us as a large group and we were able to have dinners together most evenings as a group.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fabulous Resort!

It was my first time ever being to an all inclusive resort, let alone one so beautiful! Everything that I imagined was met at this resort. I had one of the best weeks of my life. The staff were welcoming and inviting. Everytime you passed them outside or inside, they would greet you. The room service, bell boys, and bar tenders were amazing! The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing resort

Azul fives was a fantastic resort. The staff we all very helpful, doing whatever they can to make our stay amazing. The buffet and the food at the a la cart restaurants was amazing and the resort itself was very well kept and clean!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Anniversary trip!

The resort was clean, staff was for the most part friendly, there is always one or two. Freddie and Armondo at the main lobby bar provided outstanding service, best tequila shots ever! Weather was outstanding, only one day with a brief shower. We enjoyed our stay. The resort is huge, so make sure you are prepared for walking or taking the trolley.

Grand Riviera Princess: AMAZING VACATION

Selection Riviera Cancun: Amazing food!!!

Fine dining every night if you like or casual if you want, brand name alcohol, staff were extremely pleasant, yoga on the beach with Jorge, Pilates, beach volleyball twice a day, 3 swim up bars, marble everywhere, extremely clean...loved every minute of it!! Definately a 5 star experience!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Mush needed holiday

The majority of the hotel on a whole was good, the food was excellent. The one complaint we have was some of the staff were less than nice. Some were down right rude, these were mainly the staff at the bars on the beach and some of the staff in the restaurants. There was one person on the breakfast station making fresh pabcakes, eggs etc. She could not do more than one service at a time and could not cook eggs at all. She was very nasty if you asked her to make an omelet of fried eggs which  [... read more]were eith over cooked or under cooked. I would highly recommend that she be taken off the station and be given a job that did not require people contact and cooking. On going problems with the tolets not flushing properly, we were offered a plunger but that was about it. The last day of our visit the maids just made our beds, no fresh towels, no clean glasses and they did not wipe or clean the room. Checking out was frustrating, we had purchased some items at the hotel store and we did not have money on us at the time, we were given an option to put this purchase on our hotel bill. When checking out they were not going to provide me with a bill for the purchases rather simply took my credit card, it was only after I asked twice that it was provided. Painful to watch this person get me my receipt she was extremely slow at providing this. I questioned the bill as there were three charges on the bill and I had purchased two items, she indicated the last charge was optional some sort of tip ( of course it's in Spanish so had no idea what it said). I asked her to remove the charge it was approximately $10.00 American so since we are Canadian it is much more. Wonder how many people actually just pay the bill and not look at this extra charge. I find this quite concerning since that store is part of the hotel. Although I would recommend this hotel I would warn the people of the extra charge should they have purchases on their room bill. Also would explain that the resort has some issues mainly with the pluming In the rooms and the bathrooms around the pool and beach area.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Fun resort for families!

We stayed at Sandos Caracol for a week as our good friends were getting married there. About 10 of us stayed in the Adults Only section of the resort as we were all looking forward to the quiet areas and the pool which we were told was quiet and not a party pool like the other pools in the general sections of the resort. We were very disappointed because after a couple of days into our vacation and throughout the week, there was a very large group of people who decided to turn the pool into a  [... read more]party pool with their own loud music, playing football and frisbee as well as beer pong and just getting very drunk and belligerent using foul language that could be heard everywhere in the pool and bar areas. Unfortunately many complaints to the resort fell on deaf ears and absolutely nothing was done about it. There was also the smell of raw sewage in several areas of the Adults Only section. Our room were very clean and comfortable. The service was nothing spectacular, very average, and as the week went on, the service became slower and slower. The staff in both restaurants and bars were very friendly. The food was average in most restaurants and can use lots of improvements. There was a very mangy, stray dog with fleas that hung around the resort especially in the Adults Only section and would walk and sit on the lounges which was not very appealing. The beach was a little disappointing and although we knew that coming down, we were happy to visit the sister resort, Playacar, at no cost and we were able to check out that resort too for perhaps a future trip. The wedding venue was absolutely spectacular! The food was amazing and along with the gorgeous wedding couple, we all had a wonderful time celebrating their special day with them!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort

The hotel was spotless. The grounds were very well kept. Staff was very polite. The only negative thing that I would say it that the check-in process was not good. After a long day of travelling, we arrived to a line up to check in and it took over an hour to get through the line. In addition, our room was still not ready and it was after 3pm.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: 3 stars resort

Rooms :very old, no elevator, washroom has a smell all the time, small balcony ,no coffe maker. Ground:nature is amazing, Slides for kids- the best . Golf cars : some of them on gas it does not sound like Eco resort.Guests and golf cars has to share the road , it is not convenient all the time to stop and wait until it will passed by and the most important is safety for kids.
