Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing beaches, water and even resort.

The rooms are OK (included bathrooms in room, not outside). People are nice, the food was good (we didn't go in mod special for food!). I can't say something wrong about the resort, but we were in Havana (nice city etc), but will be good if you don't need to go at washroom.

Muthu Playa Varadero: 3 star not 4

The food was pretty awful, not much variation. Same food at all meals. Service pretty slow. Many of the rooms had mould around the air conditionner and doors. Beach is nice, however no beach bar or bathrooms super close. No pool bar. I would say this resort is more a 3 star, and would be a decent resort if gotten for a good price, under 1000$. Definitely not worth it for more then that

Brisas Los Galeones: Wonderful Little Hidden Resort

This is the second time we have been to Los Galeones. If you want to party all the time, this place might not be for you. If you want a quiet place with friendly staff beautiful weather and a great chance to make life long friends, This is a great place. It is not a new Resort but very clean. The food was always plentiful and good tasting, they even BBQ’D a whole pig one night. The staff are amazing, they really look after you well. When we returned this year they greet you like long lost fr [... read more]iends. There are goats that come every day for a visit and a drink. The place is fantastic if you just want to relax. The climb down to the beach is not as hard as the climb back up ( 300 steps) but most people can do it and spend a lovely day by the sea with a made to order lunch if you wish, a bar, shower and washroom facilities. Most people who come here return year after year, we might too.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Hotel in need of serious upgrades

This hotel wasn’t great. It was clean, staff were friendly, and beautiful oceanfront, but everything else was lacking. Pool is only open until 6pm, rooms are basic and in need of upgrades. The shower flooded every time it was used (less than 5 minutes) and we had to call several times to get the issue addressed. All of the other members of our groups experienced issues with their rooms as well. The food was horrible even by Cuban standards. Would not be going back.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Occidental arenas blancas

Good set up although personel at reception desk were rude most of the time except at the day of arrival. . Service and food average and again missing wine for 4 days. Shows were good with great dancers. Advertised as a 4.5 stars at booking but to me only a 3 stars.. Olkis at the supper diningroom was the most helpful waiter to guide us and answer all our questions of all the rest of the staff! Loved Varadero Cuba but will not go to this resort and will choose a 5 stars resort for sure.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great as always

Seventh time back to Brisas. The grounds are kept clean and the selection of restaurants and bars is more than you ask for. The staff is polite and will make sure they make your stay very pleasant. The beach is clean with lots of shade if you don't want to be burned all the time. There are places to snorkel and locals to facilitate that for a small fee. Horseback riding just outside of the hotel if you wish to go for a ride along the beach. The market is just walks away if you want to buy some l [... read more]ocal souvenirs. All in all fantastic place. Will recommend and will return next year.

Grand Memories Varadero: Below average

The grounds of the resort are well maintained and nice considering it is quite large. This is the first warning for elderly or people with young kids. Resort is huge. From standard room section to beach is roughly 15 minute walk. They have lots of trolleys but only guests checking in/ out get rides so you will be walking- a lot! Beach is beautiful with lots of chairs but whereas most resorts use the beach chairs with the blue fabric this resort uses the more standard wal mart style with the pla [... read more]stic slats. Not that other guests always respect this, I’d still recommend getting to the beach to reserve chairs around 0530/0600 as premium seating areas are full by 7am. The only beach bar is not on the beach but the pathway down to the beach and there are no close washrooms. Because of this seating near the path is at a premium and you could end up walking 15 minutes + for drinks or washroom. The pools are nice but again premium seating and unlike beach there are not enough chairs so a lot of people laid their towels on the grass. Rooms themselves are gross. Our group had rooms from each of the available options and basically all the same room. Patio doors are difficult to open at best. Furniture in our room was about five years past it’s life expectancy with broken doors, handles etc. sometimes lights were dim, sometimes bright. All five rooms we had had toilet seats, yet none were attached to toilet- try that after a day of booze! Broken tiles throughout the rooms, A/C is a joke. Once we were able to force open our closet doors we did find that the safe worked fined despite the broken handle and display on it. All rooms were dirty when we got them but if you tip the staff well they’ll at least mop and make the bed. Due to national shortages of soap our sheets were not changed for the week, toilets not scrubbed and clean towels only show up with tips. Mini fridges have similar issues. Shortages of beer mean without tipping the staff so they get to know you your fridge will likely only get one beer, one pop and one water per day. None of our group tried the al la cartes but from what we were told they are similar quality to the buffet, snack bar and bbq restaurant. I could go on and on about how trays of meat, cheese, shrimp, etc are left out on counters from breakfast to dinner then the same trays are topped up and put out again the next day (we marked them to verify this) or how the cooked and raw chicken breasts and wings are mixed together on the bbq leading to many people being served raw chicken but I think the best way to sum up the food is we made plates for the stray dogs and not one would eat the food. Overall it seems management are trying to bring this resort back to where it should be by having staff renovate rooms, paint buildings, repair/ replace broken everythings but they are dramatically understaff for the amount of work and are renovating rooms one at a time when they need to shut down a building at a time at the very least. A building next to us had guests (Staying in rooms above the construction rooms and crews worked from 6am to 10pm daily.) Overall thoughts- if we were give a free week to this resort we’d decline.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good food, hotel needs upgrades

Second time at this resort. Positives: The food was good (both times), one of the best in my 10 Cuban vacations. The staff were up there too. Beach is beautiful, like all Cuban beaches, zero complaints. Negatives: The hotel needs some upgrades, and some cleaning in the main floor hallways; we also had nightly cockroaches in our room. No pool bar.

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus Varadero Resort - 4 1/2 Stars it is NOT

Paradisus Varadero, Cuba is a nice hotel in general but it is far from being a 4 1/2 star category given to it by many sites. It's more like 4 stars and even 3 1/2 in many aspects. The location and beach with its swaying coconut palms right on the white sandy beach is a lovely sight and to be cherished. It does not get more beautiful than this. Our disappointment started upon arrival. We arrived at the hotel at 2 pm but reception did not give us our 2 rooms until past 5 pm because they were not  [... read more]ready! Granted the resort is huge and spread out but management should hire more house-keeping staff. Finally, when we got the rooms they did not have any smaller towels and we had to ask for them. The tiles were cracked and most locks in the resort did not work - especially most annoying were non-functioning locks in the public toilets around the resort. Faucets to wash sand off feet did not work. There were no more beach towels left after 12.30 pm !! Food was OK but extremely bland - there is enough variety in the buffets to satisfy almost everyone but by the same token because they have so much variety they could easily make some dishes a bit spicier. Their salt is bitter IF it came out of sprinkler in the first place. We didn't understand why they don't use iodized salt which runs freely even in humid countries. The beer is good, but liquors were terrible.The staff and all waiters were great and very friendly.. 5 stars for the beach, most waiters and housekeeping. Cashiers exchanging money were very unfriendly and rude. The dining room is new and has a great view of the beach. The resort is TOO BIG TO RUN EFFICIENTLY UNLESS MORE STAFF IS HIRED. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE EVENING SHOWS ON A FAIRLY BIG STAGE WERE FANTASTIC - 5 * STAR

Playa Vista Azul: Awesome Resort!

We had a terrific family vacation. A beautiful resort and I’m looking forward to going back. We upgraded to Privilege and were not disappointed. Amazing service, very nice restaurants and great people. Our family enjoyed the wonderful Cuban culture. Pools and beaches are all within a short walk. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort

This was a great resort that my boyfriend and I have visited from February 20th-27th. If You’re going away as couples and are looking for a party resort this wouldn’t be your best choice but if you’re looking for a nice relaxing trip it’s great. Although it was hard finding beach chairs due to the resort being full but everything was great. We did have vip which we weren’t fully informed on which meant we got to eat at another little restaurant that wasn’t a a la cart and it was ta [... read more]sty and nice to break up from the buffet for every meal that is if you had the silver wrist band you had this feature including a adults only pool which was nice and quite. Also the rooms were pretty ran down if you are a very picky person overall I wouldn’t recommend Cuba at But if you don’t mind the little things like the room not bothering you then it’s good. It would’ve been nicer if the room was a little more modern but again you’re there to spend your time in the sun not in your room. Beach and ocean were amazing.

Blau Varadero: Awesome staff- beautiful beach

Loved the layout of the resort- the different restaurants, entertainment and bars were appropriately scattered out making it feel less crowded and overwhelming. The food in general was good. We had one a la Carte at the Italian Restaurant and it was very good. Entertainment was also good. Staff at this resort were all amazing. Would definitely go back.

Sol Cayo Coco: Awesome

Everyone was super friendly, helpful, clean and the drinks were amazing. Blanca at the main bar was amazing every morning, our housekeeper did a wonderful job and all the wait staff was incredible. I am excited to book my trip next year at the same resort. This was my third time going to Sol Cayo coco and like I said I’m looking forward to going again.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Surprised

My wife was there 2weeks ago and she listed an issue with the housekeeping. There are still issues to be resolved but it is getting better. Met a return guest from a year ago who was very pleased. We also visited the Rainbow hotel and learned that when you have 100 guests as opposed to 1000 in our hotel.Customer service is easier.We ate at the international restaurant and seafood restaurant. Both were excellent and a new friend said that the Chinese restaurant was also very good. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort and great service

We had a great time at the resort, the food was good, the service was great and overall the entire experience was amazing. The downside was that the washroom in our room did not have ventilation and the restaurants were too crowded. Other than that, thumbs up!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great vacation for a week

We spent a week at the MJR Feb 19-26 2020, great sunny week (a few clouds), beach is amazing. Never spent anytime at the pool only about 15 minutes at the quiet one. Lobby grand, could actually be a little bigger sometimes gets very crowded. Enjoyed the walking, would not be good for someone with mobility problems but that being said they had cars taking people around. Our room was nice, clean, 17203. Never stocked our fridge for the last 4 days, disappointing. We only had issues once with the water, none for couple hours on our last night, not a big deal. The buffets were always busy, ate at the grills mostly. It was hit or miss about getting service, although we did have a few good ones in the mornings. Not a big selection of fish, no shrimp or salmon like other Cuban resorts I have been too but did enjoy the white bass and tilapia. Chicken was good, great breakfast and salads. The a la cartes not so good, I enjoyed the Oriental had salmon delicious, but husband's pork was chewy. The Cuban was terrible nothing on the menu and had substitutes for everything, we ended up walking out an d going to the buffet. The Mediterrean was not much better desert was the best. Met some great people and loved that we could visit the other two Melia's to see what they were like. Would I go back, yes it is now on my list of return resorts if the price was right.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Fantastic stay!

Coral level is well worth it! Private a la carte restaurant with good variety of food, pool (pool bar), and outdoor bar all in very close proximity but also access to all resort amenities (main resort is a bit of a walk but I think resort is completely accessible with many ramps on site). Coral is away from the rowdiness of main pool area and very quiet and serene. Service by all staff at Coral was exceptional. You are assigned "butlers" who help with anything that may be problematic. They went  [... read more]above and beyond when needed. Stunning beach at man made Bay for all resort guests. Ideal for wading or if traveling with children as is shallow. Snorkeling opportunities on site. 10 minute walk or drive (drivers available on resort) to larger beach with water activities, windsurfing, kayaking etc. Food was plentiful and fresh, chicken, beef, seafood, fish, cheese all available. Fresh fruit and vegetables available but limited (our visit was late Feb). Some meals exceeded expectations. No real complaints. Keep expectations re: food low and you won't be disappointed. This IS a country where food is rationed for its residents. I am very sensitive to changes in water and food when I travel and I did not get sick at all. I highly recommend a visit to this resort if you are looking for some R & R and time in the sun.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort

It’s been a while since we’ve been on vacation. This resort was absolutely amazing. Grounds, rooms were impeccable. Staff were very helpful and always with a smile. Big shout out to Monica and jiovanni from the main buffet. Food and entertainment was very good.Can’t get over how beautiful the beach was. Ocean was so clear. We will definitely be back. Thank you for this memorable vacation. Our 37 wedding anniversary.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice Cuban Resort

Amazing Staff and Service, it look like a former 5* hôtel getting old but very acceptable. Room was OK and clean. Beach was nice little sea weeds et somes rocks but very acceptable. Breakfast and desert was awesome lunch and diner was acceptable. Excellent choice for the price, very satisfied. Thank you Bill !

Gran Muthu Imperial: Amazing resort

Rooms were well kept and very updated The beach was a little rocky but overall very nice, never had an issue with getting a spot. Pools were very clean but a little on the cold side. The resort is a perfect size. Had that big feel but very easy to get around The food was absolutely amazing. This is my third time to Cuba and was by far the best food experience.
