Casa Marina Reef Resort: Amazing resort

Perfect location. Great staff. Clean and safe. Good variety of food and drinks. Great animation team and entertainment. We loved the pictures with Mario the monkey. Walking off the resort was safe and had excellent shopping. We'll be returning. Thank you to Kevin Dupuis at tripcentral for the great service.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great Vacation!

This was our first all inclusive beach vacation together and the we are very happy of our resort choice! If you are looking for a place to stay with a lot of selection you have made the right choice. From the Puerto Plata airport it is an easy 45min shuttle ride. The resort is massive! If you are interested in going to other parts of it you can take a free shuttle that are constantly running from all the lobbies of the attached sister resorts. There are a lot of stairs to climb to get to and from your room, beach, restaurant, pools, etc. You will most likely be climbing 20 flights of stairs every day. The service throughout the resort is fantastic! All of the staff were very helpful from the bellboys to the landscapers. There weren't many employees bothering you for a tip and they would still be courteous if you don't tip at every meal and bar. At the resort, you have over 10 swimming pools to choose from, the majority with a staffed bar. If you are interested in the hustle and bustle pools the main ones are good for you. There are also many others that are more secluded where you can relax without being interrupted by loud music and party goers. It was easy to find a lounge chair at all the pools with a shaded area. That being said, there are a lot of VIP only areas such as pools, beaches, bars, and restaurants that you won't be allowed into. We thought next time it would be worth it to upgrade to VIP. The beach was pretty standard. There was a gated beach exclusive to the resort with plenty of lounge chairs to choose from and some covered beach beds that you can use as long as you get to them first in the morning. Resort security were constantly watching the beach as it turns public on one side of it. There were only a handful of vendors on it and once you said no to whatever they were selling they wouldn't bother you again. We were fairly impressed with the quality of food offered at the resort. You can eat at two buffets The Palms at Cofresi and Casablanca at the adjoining resort the Tropical. Casablanca is by far thebetter buffet. It is larger, nicer architecture, and the food seemed to be a bit better. The a la carte's are ok. Nothing incredible or outstanding. The best one we ate at was the Mexican a la carte. All in all, Cofresi is worth it! With the lovely pools, good food and great service we would go back in a heartbeat.

This is the second time we have been to this resort and it was a great both times. Staff is friendly and food is good. The disco is a good place if you want to party at night. The pools are always clean and a good place to hang out.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great Memories

The pool and beach are beautiful and well maintained, there was a variety of food everyday. We stayed in the newly renovated room and it was clean and service of the cleaning staff was awesomesome. Great trip

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Good resort

Let me start off with everything good about this resort. - The grounds were kept immaculate. Staff were constantly cleaning and maintaining the resort. Not a plastic cup in site. Pool was clean. Staff worked tirelessly each morning to clean the seaweed off the beach. - The staff were some of the most friendly people I have ever encountered. Lots of activities and games and every moment of the day! - You won’t go hungry. Always good available for any diet type (hamburgers, salads, fruit, fries... whatever... available 24/7!) - Good mix of ages. Would be good for any age group. Now for the negatives. - I am by no means a food guru... but the food was far from what I was hoping for. Pretty crappy if ya ask me. - The rooms were awful. We went with 3 other couples and each of us had to change rooms about 3 times due to broken doors, mould, damaged locks and overall disgusting rooms. - There weren’t many bars or places to drink... pool bar... beach bar... that’s about it.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Relaxing week!

We enjoyed our stay at this resort ! Beach was perfect. Lots of room and lounge chairs. Workers were all clean and neat in appearance and atmosphere was perfect. We recommend this resort to families. Pools were maintained and landscaping was well kept.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Lovely resort

Love everything about this resort. Second stay there and everything was as good as the first time. The rooms are clean, staff friendly and courteous. The food is well prepared and they offer a great variety of items on the buffet. The specialty a la carte options are wonderful especially the Italian one. The portions are plentiful and always have a vegetarian option. If I had one complaint that would be not enough shade around the pools. To get a shaded area you had to get up by 5:30 a.m and [... read more] go and put a towel on your chair. That takes away from the rest and relaxation you may have been hoping for.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo (Samana DR) does not live up to 5 star rating!

Stay was from 5-12 April 2019. This resort was rated as a 5 star resort but it did not live up to its star rating. The resort is no more than a 4 star. Hotel room cleanliness - The room was very clean Hotel room comfort of bed - Bed is very hard and not comfortable Room cleaning staff - had to call conceirge to have fridge stocked properly as depicted when we booked our trip Room request - not honored *asked for double beds and got king size Language - language barrier and problems throu [... read more]ghout the resort Service staff - in the buffet area, should all be fired. Had to get our own water. Curdled cream was served in the coffee repeatedly. They never smiled. When you moved plates away from a table to sit down, they got angry with you Buffet food - repetitious. Not many varieties of desserts to choose from Snorkelling - amazing and right off the beach Lounge chairs - signs say no reserving and that was not enforced. Hard to find a lounger Drinks - terrible on the beach (watered down). Better inside but they went down hill fast too Front Desk Staff - language barrier - need to have English speaking people working the front desk Air Transat Rep - there needs to be one available from Monday to Friday. Was not there out last day and he was supposed to give us the declaration documents for our return back Beach - appreciated that it was cleaned everyday Local vendors - keep them off the beach and not to bother the people on the beach. Set aside maybe 2 days per week and have them located in 1 area. It was very annoying to be approached by vendors all the time In speaking with other travellers there, a couple who was there last year for 2 weeks, indicated that the resort had went down quite a bit this year since last year. Shame on Grand Bahia Principe hotel chain - do not deserve the 5 star rating as they are not that in the Dominican. Not as bad as going to Cuba but had 5 star expectations when I saw it was a Grand Bahia Principe. Will not stay again at this hotel chain.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Excellent resort

Hotel was nice. Food was ammazing. Drinks were good sometimes took a while to get one.beach and pools were amazing.staff was very nice and helpful.wifi only in lobby.loys to for children. All in all great resort but it is quite big

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: AWESOME VACATION SPOT!

We just spent our 2nd vacation at Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville and had a wonderful time! The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the food was good! Would definitely recommend this hotel! It even has a casino (albiet, small - but it's there and lots of fun!) 2 wonderful pools - a quite one and a PARTY one! If you go, be sure to wander over to the infinity pool located along the beach. It's beautiful.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not bad for the money

This resort is small which is ok but definitely needs updating around the pool and the rooms do smell mustie. The buffet is very difficult to maneuver around. The tables are way too close and people were getting bumped into when you try and get up to the good. Animation was excellent with us and seemed to want to get people involved in their activities. The reception staff was excellent and responded to problems very quickly trying to help you out. There was the odd wait staff that was friendly  [... read more]with us but the majority of them couldn’t crack a smile or say good morning or say something to you unless you had tips for them. Oh then they would come running when we were done and getting tips out. Gotta laugh!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Prestine resort

The grounds of the Aquamarine resort were in prestine condition from the landscaping, tiles, pool , restaurants and rooms. We had an exceptional stay with so many things to do. We will definitely be looking in to staying again next year. The weather cooperated nicely. The animation crew was fantastic, lively and friendly. All staff were courteous and helpful. Thank you for making our stay a memorable one.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful resort!

The Bahia complex made up of 7 properties has a complete resort experience. It is like a small town connecting the various areas with walk ways and “avenues”. We stayed at the Esmeralda. Although the Ámbar is a newer upscale complex we preferred the Esmeralda. The grounds were impeccable and the majority of the services were good. The 2 buffets had food for almost everyone. The rooms were spacious comfortable and clean (no problems with water or air). We prefer firmer bass but I could understand if some would find the beds a little hard! Lol). And yes you may have to ask for some items at times but they were prompt in bringing them. We did have a mini fridge that didn’t work but we were seldom in our room. Satélite reception was not good. Once again...not often in our room. The Esmeralda had 3 pool areas which we really appreciated. The quieter pool was our go to area. Maria and Alex were a pleasure! The main pool area was situated with access to the beach, the large outdoor restaurant overlooking the beach for lunches, the Asian and Italian restaurants for a la carte, the main buffet, and the many relaxing lounges Inside and out. The beach was extensive connecting ther resorts. There was extensive seaweed but crews did their best to clear the beach into “piles” but it didn’t hinder walking or swimming. The water was very choppy during our stay but you could go a little further out for calmer water. We had a few later evening showers and one morning one. In general the layout of the Esmeralda was very convenient. If I had a negative statement to make it would be about the lack of communication in some areas. To get around the complex (other than the Esmeralda) you had to take golf carts (like taxis). You were either ignored or told that you had to go to a certain area or take another “cart”. Very seldom did you know where these other areas were or they didn’t know? The front desk would also give you miss information. I think their main job was check-in and check-out. They weren’t interested in anything else. Even to change smaller $ for tips they told us to go to Punta Cana although they had a sign on the desk shoeing exchange area!). (The first resort in the complex). This area was also confusing. Each of the 7 resorts had a name. The first and main one is called Punta Cana. (Found this out after 3 days!). The Air Canada rep was informative about most aspects of our stay. The only problem again was the carts to a la cartes. We did have the great pleasure to meet “Jean Carlo”. His English was wonderful...but his personality was fantastic!! He did his best to make our stay a great one. Our main objective for our week stay was to have a relaxing stay with comfortable rooms, good food, and great weather. We had all 3. We had a great day trip to Santa Domingo with a special tour guide...”Nacho”! We will go back but only to Esmeralda...and maybe Amber? The room, proximity to beach...and the grounds made our week!

Ocean El Faro: Beautiful Resort

Overall the resort was excellent. All the staff that we encountered spoke very good English.Check In was smooth with no problems. Lobby was simply amazing. We stayed in the 2000 block 3rd floor with a pool view. Room was very spacious, clean and modern with a King Bed. Food was very good, no reservations is nice, pick and choose where to go. Never had to wait to get into the Restaurants. They don't try and rush you out the door when you are done. Pools are very nice with no shortage of chairs a [... read more]nd umbrellas. Lazy River was fun, we brought our own floaties but never used them as they had lots. The beach is work in progress as it is a new resort. Lots of huts to lie under. It was windy with lots of waves. Kids water park was very nice. Grounds were immaculate. Only thing we didn't like is the aggressiveness of the H10 Time share agents. Way to pushy.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Nice resort

Impeccably clean. Pools were very nice. Beach was small but very nice with clear water. Red flagged one day. Not a good beach for children due to big waves and steep drop off.Limited shade and umbrellas on the beach. Umbrellas had to be rented for $3/day. Food was good and plentiful. Service at restaurants was average. Our room was beautiful, newly updated. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We had trouble getting beach towels for the 1st few days. Safe lock was $15 for the week and wasn't [... read more] available Till the 2nd day. Wifi available at a cost. We booked a triple room but only had two beds with no cots available. All in all a very pleasant week though.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: #1 in our books!

This was our 4th trip to Majestic Colonial Punta Cana since 2011. We did try another resort once but decided the Majestic was the best choice for us. Lots of palapas at the beach for shade, great drinks (premium liquors), great food with lots of variety, and beautiful rooms that are well stocked and impeccably maintained. The best is the staff- always friendly and always willing to provide the best service possible. Can't wait to go back.

Excellence Punta Cana: Our Best Resort Yet

We loved our stay for 10 days at Excellence Punta Cana!!! At first sight, the lobby, pool and main buffet area were beautiful, topped only by the warmth & great service of the entire STAFF. The foods at all the many restaurants including the main buffet was great, our favourite being Chez Isobelle. The landscape & our Garden view room was exquisite and had great sleeps on our comfortable bed.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great time guaranteed!

Our 2nd time at this resort and it did not disappoint. Service is very good and food is amazing. Resort is well proportioned and pool and entertainment area are very active and fun filled. Only 3 à la carte restaurants but in our opinion, Buffet Cafeteria can satisfy every want and need; wide variety of meal choices and options. Beach area is very nice with several kilometers of walking enjoyment along shoreline and coral habitats for the snorkelers out there. Be Live Experience Hamaca Beach: Not a great start to our vacation celebrating our anniversary

We arrived at our hotel and the Lobby looked like a 2 star in the movies in the bad part of town. Very unwelcome, unfriendly staff and not very clean. We then were put in the wrong section of hotel and had no towels or facecloths , no remote for the tv, the room had no phone and smelled like a kitchen. Very stained and unacceptable. We also had no hot water We got moved to another room after complaining over and over. The next room was much better but the balcony was covered in pigeon feces  [... read more]daily. Still no hot water until our last day when there was only hot water and no cold water. The food was ok on the last day but was attrocios the other days. We liked that we could go to town by foot and see the real Dominican, but the resort was the worst I’ve ever stayed in. The trip was not worth the price and we made the best of it.
