Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star resort

Resort beach is excellent. Food is horrible!! Apparently the resort was fully booked and the service was like a 3 star or lower hotel. Rooms were not that great for a 5 star hotel. so all in one we would not return to this resort.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing resort

My wife and i just spend a week at el Patriarca in Varadero. We had a very nice week. The staff was awesome and made us very comfortable. The food was great and lots of selection. Walking arounds the grounds is like walking in a park all day long. We would stay at el Patriarca again without question.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice place, but it needs refurbishing

I imagine the original resort was great, but it is badly in need of maintenance. Broken fixtures, poorly done repairs, and other problems really detract from the experience of a great resort. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is okay by Cuban standards i.e. not very good. Beds are terrible and the air conditioning is feeble. Since the other resorts suffer from similar problems, I would recommend it as the better of other choices. Cuba is cheap and you get what you pay for.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Huge Resort!

We just got back from Memories Varadero: We asked for a room with balcony & central to restaurants & common areas. First room was ground floor, backing onto a jungle no lock on door, second- king size bed for 2 senior ladies. The next morning all was well & the desk clerk found us the perfect room. We have no complaints about the food (a little bland) but there is something for everyone. All common areas are clean & taken care of. The people are fantastic. Bars are fun. What makes this resort is the people. They are wonderful. Thanks Memories! Finally -we booked the excursion to Havanna. It was wonderful. Manny was our guide -he's efficient & full of info. The night ended with dinner & show at the Tropicana. Wow it was fantastic. THANKS MANNY! All in all a great vaca.!

Paradisus Varadero: Great resort

Grounds were beautiful Staff very accommodating Rooms were kept clean Only issue was my husband cut his foot pretty bad and they didn't even have a bandage at the resort There first aid kit was very limited Overall great holiday

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: 1 week is never enough!

Our 6th time to this resort and it won't be our last. The repeat customer upgrades are awesome and all the Royal Service staff is great! William, Virginia and Mary Carmen made this another memorable week. All resort staff are very friendly and work hard to keep the customers happy. Royal pool bar has the best coffee and the Royal lobby bar has the best "iced" margaritas, and always has Buccanero. There is always a good variety of food for even "MOST" of the picky eaters. The Japanese restaur [... read more]ant is a must, and if you take a trip to Varadero and like lobster, go to El Rancho! This was our first trip in February so was more$, and first time here with Air Transat out of Saskatoon. Way better flight times than AC and Sunwing, and Options Plus made trip even better. One negative this trip was mosquitos. Tiny, painless and fast when you see them. Bites are very itchy the next day, but there is an aloe vera plant straight across the sidewalk North of "The Rockhouse Grill". It stinks but it works. They did fog every evening but can't kill 'em all!

Melia Marina Varadero: Very nice facility, food and staff need a major overhaul

Very small beach with about half comfortable chairs and half old style plastic, get to the beach early if you want a good chair. The pool and entertainment are great! Food is very slow to be replaced in the buffet and was not good, I had heard Cuba lacked spices so the food is bland, That was not the problem, it was often under or overcooked and swimming in oil. Bars were solid and were not shy with the booze. The beds are ROCK hard. I would recommend Cuba if you like killer beaches but would find somewhere else to stay

Hotel Los Cactus: First timers in Cuba

Since being a barber has its own benefits in hearing diferent experiences from my clients about Cuba in general, i was expecting bad food not so clean resorts, poor sad people outside of the resort and good cheap rum. But after spending week with my girlfriend at Breezes or now Hotel Los Cactus, i can swear that there is one more Cuba that people i talked with went for visit. Big thanks to our server for last few nights Herman, really great guy and was always makings us laugh with his positive aditude. Lady at the bar who helped us with advice how to take out shripm stain that i got while going trough amazing selection of sea food that resort had one night! While at food there is nothing i can complain about, it was always fresh as it can be, if you dont like sea food there is lots of good stuff from beef and chicken selection that will keep you full for sure, and if you are really picky chef will always have something cooking up on a grill so nothing to worry. Only one time i think chef at beach grill got mad at me cuz he had to make 3 of his delicious burgers only for me hehe :) Fuit is fresh and amazingly delicious, frist day we arrived they had fresh coconuts being cutted up and handed out before entering beach (.. - to describe how amazing beach is it would take me first few years of school to learn more words that are able to describe beauty of it-..) so all i am gonna say is that if weather is nice and water calm you will have to pinch yourself just to realize you are not dreaming. But there is something you should be carefully about, its little cactus like balls not bigger that 25c coin that is sometimes hidden in sand and can poke your foot, but dont worry its not that sharp so it doesn't puncture any skin, just sticks to it and annoys a bit :) We did 3 tours, Havana Colonial- very informative but little too long for your couple that likes adventure. Took us 12hours from leaving hotel to coming back Three City's- amazing time great food in Trinidad! Again little too long to spend 15hours on tour Jeep Safari- best off road experience i had in while, versatile cuz we swam in cave, did snorkeling, visited did horseback ride and had great lunch at amazing coffee farm where me and girlfriend met 89year old house owner and his wife where he gave us private seperate tour of his house and property, amazing person, i wish i knew more Spanish i can imagine what stories he has to tell! Definitely worth money cuz you get your own standard SUV and you drive it in group of 4 people! Loved it definitely recommending!! In overall, i cant wait to have more vacation time so i can come back and get our money worth again at this beautiful Los Cactus Hotel resort. Big thanks to Herman, Adell, Steve Wonder voice like guy (sorry i forgot how to spell your name even you told me 100times), Desmarias at bar that kept rum river at good flow :) and other nice people that we met, you all made our stay amazing and full of great memories! Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Nice beach!

This Hotel is going through a lot of updates.....when fully done it will be really good... everyone was good.... food was you normal blah Cuba food... but you didn't go hungry... Our room was all redone and faced the beach!!! We had a really restful time..... bed we're soooo comfortable!! For the price it was amazing!! I would say.... go for it!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very nice resort

The hotel and grounds were very nice and clean.the staff was very helpful. The lobby was packed every night with people enjoying a drink.the food could of been better. I would tell my friends and family members to go, THEY HAVE A LOT TO DO AND SHOWS AT NIGHT ARE GREAT.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great Resort

We were in Varadero from Feb. 5 to the 19th. The room we were in was in a great location, close to the pool, buffet, beach, etc. The workers were friendly and did a great job. They have very nice a lacarte restaurants and a very nice well located little coffee bar for specialty coffees. The girl making the specialty coffees was very friendly and cheerful which really helps brighten your spirits even when you are already enjoying your vacation. If there was something that could have been better  [... read more]it would be the poor coffee service in the mornings as it seemed to take a long time to get a cup of coffee and then when it did arrive it would be luke warm at best. There has to be a better way to make and serve coffee in a large buffet rather than making one cup at a time. Other than that one small complaint it was a great vacation and the resort was great.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing Resort

A five star resort We upgraded to privlage and were very happy we did. The rooms were very clean and up to date, the grounds were in beutiful condition. A 30 second walk and we were at the beach. The resort staff were very helpful and quick to serve you. Our private pool and pool bar were awesome. I would recommend a ground floor room facing the pool. Melia Marina Varadero: Beautiful Resort

Just arrived from this Resort. Beautiful grounds, pools, and the beach is great. Plenty of chairs for everyone which is great. My room was on "The Level" floor, which includes Private check in, restaurant for Level customers which was awesome since we had to leave at 7:30 am and it was the only restaurant opened at that time. Breakfast food was great but could use a bit more food choices for the A la Carte Restaurants. The only thing I would like to mention to housekeeping is to concentrate  [... read more]more on the cleanliness of the rooms i.e. in our room the counters of the washrooms were not washed when we took the room and they never washed it during the 3 days we were there. The thermostat was very dirty and same thing with the telephone and the remote control. I always leave a tip for the Housekeeping people, I would like them to concentrate more on the cleaning than coming back to my room and finding Swans made with my bedspread. All the staff I dealt with were very gracious and helpful. I will definitely go back to this resort.

Memories Jibacoa: not real bad but very disapointing

Our first room stank of sewage terribly, also a lack of water they didn't relocate us till the second day. ( had to insist strongly) the new room was better but not great, the shower actually worked our departure time was six hours after checkout, NO COURTESY AT ALL............ ten cuc. per hr extra,or just hang around (what a rip) POOR customer service after being forced to sleep in a sewer for two nights food was ok, we really enjoyed the entertainment

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great Resort, good value

Resort is a little out dated, but the beach is gorgeous, food at general buffet was ok, nothing special, but al-la carte restaurants were amazing! Not much night life on the resort, but lots to do off the resort in Varadero!

Hotel Los Cactus: ASTOUNDING!!!

This was by far the best resort out of several we have stayed at. The room was immaculate and kept that way all week - NO MOLD, NO BUGS, ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES :) The grounds and pool were kept in wonderful shape all week as well. Very easy access to anywhere on the resort you cared to venture off too. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful (except one of the head chefs - just crabby faced all the time). Everyone knows you don't go to Cuba for the food well this resort worked very [... read more] hard on that issue and it turned out to be perfectly fine even down to a gala dinner served on our first night there where they bbq'd lobster tails! The BEACH, well I don't think I even have to explain...We spent the majority of our time right there...it was cleaned every morning, no issues with beach vendors, just fantastic all the way around. Take your vacation there, you won't be disappointed!

Melia Las Antillas: Both plus and minus experience

The hotel is a bit old and in need of repairs here and there. The staff are very thoughtful and respectful and decent. I especially like the staff who let their personalities shine through alongside the need to maintain their professional demeanor. Good to know real people. Food was similar to all varadero hotels Not enough chairs on the beach and I really recommend a system whereby people dont monopolize beach lounge chairs while leaving them empty all day. Grounds were beautiful and noise levels low and allow for lots of rest. Love that it is adults only.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Just what I was looking for

Grounds: The grounds have a great layout, from my room it was about a 3 minute walk to the beach or the lobby. The pool is in the middle of the resort, around all of the room buildings There is always breakfast and dinner available in the lobby building with enough options to keep options open. Every day there is a BBQ lunch just off the beach. Public Areas: It's clean, since there is a mix of people from groups of young people to families to older people. With a diverse groups of roami [... read more]ng people, there are times when the beach is quiet and relaxing while it can quickly pick up to a party vibe. If you are looking to have just one kind of setting, just party or just relax, you may be disappointed. I am sure the vibe changes week to week so you may be disappointed if you have expectations of the atmosphere. Food: It didn't have much in terms of spices or sauces so it was sort of plain but it was still BBQ on the beach so I can't really complain. Features: They have events and shows every day. There is enough to keep lightly busy, but most of the day will still be in the individual's hands. There are excursions available, I did the Jeep Safari and I was really pleased with the experience.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Nice resort

The food is the usual Cuban buffet. Pretty bland ok choices not sure why the fruit is never ripe. Beaches are wonderful. Drinks could be better. Not many choices. Entertainment was ok . The staff was amazing .
