Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Great staff
We found the grounds and pool well kept. The staff take pride in all they do. The restaurant staff efficient and friendly. The rooms basic but suit the purpose. The walk to each beach short and simple. The only annoying fact the smoking policy lets people some in pool and all around the pool. The large ash trays can be found right out side the restaurant which is just not acceptable when trying to eat. The smoking was very bothersome as I have asthma and did not realize before booking at this re[... read more]sort. If they had a smoking area away from pool and restaurant I would stay again. Do to the small size I’d only ever do a week as the food never changes. Location was fine.

TRS Coral: Not a 5 star hotel
Let me start by saying this is a beautiful resort and that’s were it stops.
We arrive late Saturday night and Sunday Morning we went book all of our dinner reservations with a butler and CHIC. We were offered 6 or 9:30 for dinner reservations and were told CHIC was booked. We were also told all the restaurants were booked for the next 3 weeks. So we took what we could get for the restaurants and the 1 st Butler didn’t even book CHIC. On Monday we had to see a new butler trying to get Chi[... read more]c tickets and we were told the same thing. The other couple that went with us went to see his butler and was basically told if we want a normal time for dinner and CHIC tickets we would have to pay him. So we did.
The spa was included and after being hounded everyday by the people selling massages we were told we couldn’t get in unless we purchased a massage.
All events were cancelled at trs because of weather so we were directed to the sister resort at the sports bar. There were kids running around the bar at 10-11 pm so we left. Also we were told at the sports bar that if we wanted premium alcohol we would have to pay for it. There is no buffet or coffee shop on site so again you have to travel to the sister hotel and deal with children. There were children on the adult side of the beach and no one asked them to leave so we left.
We also had to pay the butler to have our fridge restocked. We had no towels in our room and took 4 calls and a trip to the front desk to finally get them.
When you go on vacation it should be relaxing and shouldn’t be this hard to get things that were included in our package. This trip was not worth the money and more stressful trying to book and alway having to grease the butlers.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Everything you want in a resort and more
This is my third time back to the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it still is one of my favorite resorts in the Caribbean. The resort is built around the lush natural grounds with walking trails. There are Mayan Ruins on the property that date back over 1500years. With all the greenery you will find on the resort monkeys, just playing around in the trees and from time to time they will hang out on your balcony if you are in or around buildings 18 & 19. There are flamingos and deer on site[... read more] along with the most recent addition of Bambi a baby deer that is being raised by the wonderful staff that work at this hotel. She is like a puppy she gives kisses all over and you can pet her for hours. She is the sweetest. Parrots are partnered and placed throughout the main lobby areas of the resort. there are turtles and countless iguanas and geckos. You will see little furry animals as well going about their daily business. The inlet is amazing, you have calm waters (especially great for thoes with little kids) with hundreds of tropical fish and minnows from the ocean that hang out there all day so bring your snorkels as there is much to see in this part of the ocean. Food is fantastic there is always something for everyone. You no longer have to make reservations for the a la carts. It is first come first serve. We never had to wait for a table but do keep in mind we went the first week of November and the resort was not at capacity. The steak at all the a la carts was amazing. Tender and delish definitely recommend. Don't forget to check out the Xcaret Eco Park that is right next door however admission is aproximately $100US per adult and $50US per child. There is also a nightly Mayan ritual that is held in the lobby at 7pm weeknights. It is definitely worth seeing. The resort is big however there are carts that go around the resort and will stop and pick you up and take you to your destination if you don't want to walk through all the nature. Again, this resort will not disappoint so do check it out.

Secrets Huatulco: Great vacation resort
First off, Huatulco is very laid back compared to Cancun, PV, etc. Overall this resort was excellent. The facility itself was very clean and good condition. Workers were very polite and helpful. Room was great and the service, like cleaning, restocking was done daily without question. There are 5-6 ala carte restaurants so lots of variety. We had good dining experience in all, well except the Oceanic. Must have been a bad chef day, we finally left and didn't even finish our meal.
We are not bi[... read more]g buffet fans, but here it was quite good for breakfast. Never ate at the buffet in the evening, but every night they had a different theme, moved outdoors, etc.
Pool area was excellent, clean, neat, and decent bar service.
Beach area is hard to beat, lots of covered chairs, sand sand and more sand. No other resorts in site, had the whole bay to ourselves.
Nightlife is slow on the resort. A few shows, or a little band, but it was hit/miss if you liked the music.
Also don't bother with the "preferred club", definitely not worth the extra $$. The lounge was a tiny room with a couch, snacks that sat out all day long. The buffet was way better than the ala carte breakfast.
The couple misc things missing was no big deal, overall very good, and would have no problem returning.

Haven Riviera Cancun: Relaxation at its Best!!
From the minute you enter the lobby of this hotel, you can feel the luxury! Our check in was the best experience I have have ever had (and we are seasoned travelers!) The hotel is relatively new, so the decor, and the fixtures are outstanding. The lobby area houses an amazing Specialty Coffee Shop, a well stocked Gift Shop, Reception, Private area for Serenity guests. A lounge for everyone, and a private lounge with food and drinks for serenity guests.
2 great pools, one a bit more upbeat [... read more]than the other. 4 Dinner Restaurants, and 1 breakfast buffet. Lunch was Buffet or a pool grill, or an a la carte option at the circular pool. The food was excellent - not one complaint. Drinks are almost all brand name liquor, and they are cracking the tops off as they make drinks (no watering down happening!). The entire grounds were incredibly clean, the spa was also a great experience (but expensive). The tubs on the balcony were a great feature - perfect wind down. So many little extra's from turn down service to sweets in the evening appearing in your room. Beds were super comfy too, and the bathrooms were the best I have ever had in the Caribbean. No lack of any kind of staff, and all so friendly - 5 stars for sure!! Have no comment on the night show or bar, but Limes which is a bar by the restaurants was superb!!
Only bad thing I could say, is the water front is terrible,...so much sea grass. No one swam at all in the ocean, however the beach front and chairs and palapa's are great, as long as you don't want to swim in the ocean, but there is not much they could do about it, fighting a loosing battle. Only reason I gave the 4 star rating for that.

The Sens Riviera: Nice Beach, and Very Friendly Staff, BUT the Resort is Very dated.
The resort is advertised as New, but in reality it is one of the oldest resorts in the Mayan Rivera (over 30 years old). It has changed hands recently, and they are calling it new. We had a fair amount of rain, and many of the main rooms were leaking badly. ie: plastic buckets in the lobby, and some of the restaurants. The whole experience was OK, but definitely not 5 STARS. Nice Beach, and Very Friendly Staff.
Would we go back to this resort?..... definitely not

Ocean Maya Royale: Definite Return!!
We loved everything about this resort. The rooms were clean, the food was amazing. Loved the daily pool entertainment. All the restaurants did not disappoint. Service was wonderful, staff was friendly. I would go back.
We went in November, so there was quite a bit of rain, but still plenty of sunshine in the afternoon to enjoy the pool.
My only issue with the resort was the lack of drainage after a rain. Always had to walk through a few inches of water to get to the rooms. They need to wor[... read more]k on a better drainage system.
The beach was not the greatest. I wouldn't go back for the beach.

Grand Sunset Princess: Great resort but huge!
I loved this resort! Just note that it is really big. Some rooms are far (10 min walk to main lobby). The rooms are very spacious. I recommend upgrading to platinum for a private pool with cabanas, extra service perks, better drinks, a la carte meals every night etc.

This resort is not for anyone with mobility issues. With 2000 rooms it has an extreme amount of walking. Rooms are great, food less than great, beach pretty but has an odour due to the seaweed. Platinum area was worth the upgrade.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Rating this resort a 7/10
I feel like this resort is really beautiful, but it is extremely huge, or should I say massive. If you don’t mind doing a lot of walking and you have kids then this is a fantastic place(for the most part). As there’s so much for them to do. Yes it has a bus that takes you around but it comes every 30 minutes which is a waste of time to wait for it. The food is not the greatest, the buffet food was not very warm and a lot of the times it didn’t look/taste fresh. Two out of the four a la car[... read more]t were really good, the other two were lacking. Tokoyo and Santa Fe were my favourite. Our bathroom light was flickering and our sink was clogged upon arrival. Almost all the staff did not know any English so asking for directions/questions was nearly impossible unless you went all the way to the front desk. Strikers bar food was absolutely terrible, it’s not even worth trying. The resort was so big that it felt so empty, I went from Nov 9- Nov 16 and we were wondering where everyone was. The nightly entertainment was very bad. I feel that they need to interact more with the audience and get us involved as it makes the experience more personal and enjoyable. they had one called “ideal couple†which I heard was their only good show for the week, and I’m sad that we couldn’t attend because we couldn’t find the place. At the end of our trip we heard you can download an app that will tell you the show times and locations which is more helpful and I would reconnect downloading before going. I’m not a very picky person, in my mid 20’s and am very active but this was a little too much walking for my liking while on Vaykay. Even finding the pool bars or best nightly entertainment was a struggle. I’ve been to many other all inclusive resorts and mexico and this was probably one of the worst ones. My boyfriend also did get sick when he was down there. Don’t get me wrong you may go and have an amazing time, unfortunately there was a lot of downfalls to this trip for my boyfriend and I.

Ocean Maya Royale: Nice Resort
The hotel was very nice. Food was good...enough variety for everyone. Disappointed when we tried to order room service and it was closed at 11pm?? Our welcome book showed late night limited menu 23:00pm - 6:00/7:00am...yet told it was closed. Floors were very very slippery when wet and large puddles up over our ankles on pathways. We had no choice but to go thru them. But we made the best of it!! Very clean rooms!

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: We Had Fun
The resort is beautiful, the pools are large and each one has good features, bubbling lounges or jacquzi , swim up bar and love the adults only, very quiet and the kiddi pool. The lounges need replacing alot of them are worn out. It was very nice that the waiter would take your drink order right at your chair. The beach was ok, not the blue that I like but oh well! All the alacarts were very good, the Asian was my favourite. The buffet was great for breakfast. Loved Mikes coffee shop, great cappi[... read more]cinos and tastey treats. Route 66 decor is cool. Blue Moon romantic is a smaller cozy place for couples. All the drinks were good, Mimosas for breakfast every morning! The shows were excellent, enjoyed the lobby bar as well. Rooms were nice however it rained alot at night and we had water coming into the closet on the third floor so we moved to a different room. The beds are hard and not very comfortable, they need new mattresses as both rooms were the same, the maids did a good job. Good sound proof in rooms didnt hear anybody else. A nice touch was a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries in our room for our anniversary thanks

Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa: Not realy what we expected ...
Negative:
The rooms are very noisy, during the night and early in the morning.
The room smells musty.
No internet- You have to pay $ 53 /day for the internet.
In the morning for breakfast not too many choices; it is the same every day.
Not too many activities on the resort for younger people.
Positive:
Beautiful beach, smooth sand, clean... and the bars are close to the beach and pool.
Very teasty food in the Restaurants, however, the same menu.
Good service

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Sunscape Sabor
This is our third time at the hotel. The first time I was not too impressed. It is a 3 star hotel. During our second visit, things were improving. But this time, not as good. Our room needs a lot of work. Everything is old and run down. Very simple. We were travelling with a f group and both of them had leaks in their rooms. It rained a lot while we were there and water came in and soaked beds, floors. One couple was offered another room, the other person was offered a room, but it was in worse [... read more]condition than the first. Even the lobby roof leaked!
Beach is okay, pool fine. Restaurants were fine, nothing fancy.
Not much entertainment at night. Staff is ok, but not extraordinary! Don't think we will ever go back.

Occidental Cozumel: Good resort but left some things to be desired
The room was decent BUT mini fridge only stocked every other day
The food was good BUT the variety was poor, lunch was pretty much the same every day, omelette bar was awesome at breakfast
The evening entertainment was not as good as I had hoped for BUT some neat things were seen
The daily activities were pushed hard at the activity pool but were still pretty much the same every day
There is no alcohol served before NOON...so if you plan to drink from dawn til dawn...not this resort
Not th[... read more]e best reef to snorkel on but there were still some fish
The beach was good and sandy BUT hard to find shade and keep it (no palapas or umbrellas on the beach but there were umbrellas at the pools)
Overall, consider whether you want a small, remote resort or a big partying resort

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: great vacation
We were a little put off the first day as we arrived at 11am and had to wait until 3pm to check in. I could have understood this if the resort was busy or full but it wasn't, we were able to change into some shorts and enjoy the resort, however after a long day of traveling you just want to unpack and start relaxing.
Got in the room, very nice, all you need, I found the bed hard, wife loved it.
Great view of the ocean.
Fridge was filled daily with water, pop and beer. Maid service did a grea[... read more]t job but were very random. We dive every morning and would come back late in the day to rest and they always wanted to clean the room late in the afternoon. We don't need the room cleaned everyday so it wasn't a big deal to us but wished they would have cleaned the rooms in the mornings. We did have a lot of rain the week we went and this in not the resorts issue, but they did supply umbrellas in areas that you could use and that was a nice touch.
Buffet was good lots of choices but fairly standard and not always the hottest (we did not starve!!!), best night was the Texmex. The 3 other restaurants have changed and do not require reservations anymore, first come first serve. The Italian was very good!!
3 pools, hot tub and lots of beach chairs and beds.
Everyone on the resort was very nice and accommodating and were generally concerned that you were happy and having a good time always saying good morning, hello, etc.
This was not our first trip to this resort and we could see and feel improvements from our last trip just 6 months ago.
We will be back.
Thanks to all the staff of the Grand Park Royal Luxury Resort for a great week, keep up the good work and we hope to see you soon.

Greeted by the bell boys immediately after exiting my transport from the airport. They took my luggage gave me a tag and I checked in. Very fast and simple check in. Explained the grounds and amenities to me. Then I was escorted to my room. Beautiful, clean and exactly as depicted on the website. I was close to the beach and pool area.
