We visited sandals Royal Barbados for our honeymoon from Nov, 22-29.
From start to finish the trip was unbelievable… we didn’t want to leave. Everyone that works at this resort goes ABOVE AND BEYOND to make you feel like welcome and happy. The food was incredible, there is nothing we ate during the 7 days that we didn’t enjoy. The resort was HUGE, very well maintained, luxurious no matter what type of room or area you were in. This was worth every single dollar we spent. The beach was be[... read more]autiful, warm water, no seaweed while we were there. We are obsessed with Sandals resorts now and can’t wait to book another vacation. I don’t know how anyone could visit sandals Barbados and not have the time of there life.

Sandals Grande St Lucian: Excellent Resort
Wonderful, attentive staff. The building is a little older but well maintained.
The bus ride (2 + hours) each way from the airport is the only drawback. Boat and helicopter options are added expense if selected.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort: Not bad, but not amazing.
So to start, I did enjoy this getaway. Would I spend the money to do it again….no.
First off, the staff were really pleasant. The entertainment staff were fun and engaging. The restaurants had pretty good food and the bed was decently comfortable. The resort itself is beautiful with its lush gardens and it’s pretty easy to get a place to sit and watch the ocean in the sun for the day. They have beautiful coves and the beach is kept clean and groomed.
Things I didn’t like: it’s[... read more] a long transfer from airport to the resort..1.5 hours.
The entire resort could use some maintenance. We had a king room Rivera side and although it was decent, I wouldn’t call it luxury. Things like the magnifying mirror in the bathroom was broken, the closet doors were broken and wouldn’t stay shut, the balcony railing was rusted and moved dangerously when leaned on so we stayed away from it. The air conditioner worked and made the room lovely and cool but dripped constantly on the carpet below, causing the room to smell musty. There are lots of stairs on the resort to go anywhere, it didn’t bother us at all but could bother some. Beach Towels were hard to find in the mornings, we went searching often for them.
Everywhere you go, someone is trying to upsell you. Whether it’s to get you to book the spa or buy pictures or book a table at an event which costs more, it got tiresome being approached constantly to ask you to spend more money. Breakfast Buffett was good and booked dinner restaurants were good.. but there are no snack options. You can’t just quickly grab anything. The pool has a pizza place that takes an hour to get a tiny pizza. I ordered 2 tacos one afternoon and waited 45 mins for them. There is no haste for anything and seems disorganized. We started to joke while finishing breakfast if we should order lunch right away so we could actually eat when we were hungry later. The bar frequently ran out of cups to serve people. The coffee urn was empty a few mornings which didn’t destroy my day or anything, just a little frustrating when sandals sells “luxuryâ€. The speakeasy is a super cool vibe with fun drinks. We went to watch the entertainment … which didn’t show up.
We enjoyed the piano sing along one day so checked the schedule and went a second time and guess what?…. They didn’t show up. So overall, the break from work was still nice and we enjoyed the beach but I wouldn’t do it again. It even kind of put me off the sandals brand as other people we spoke to told us they have been to nicer, much cheaper resorts.

Sandals Barbados: Beautiful resort!
We stayed as a group of 16 at Sandals Barbados from Nov 8-15th 2022. The resort has beautiful grounds, rooms, pools, and restaurants and it was a bonus to have access to the Royal side for food, activities and amenities. Restaurant booking was not efficient or easy to do, however we did secure group reservations by the end of our week at most of the restaurants and very much enjoyed.
We also enjoyed a morning of snorkelling which is offered complimentary by Sandals- such a lovely experience to[... read more] snorkel over shipwrecks!
Only complaints would be service at the beach and pool bars as it was hit or miss and tree maintenance which was being done through the day at the busiest time on the beach. Maybe this could be done at an alternate time which would be less disturbing to guests.
Overall we had a great week on this beautiful island. Would highly recommend!

Sandals Barbados: Sandals does not live up to reputation
The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The food was very good. Fifty percent of the staff was very friendly and helpful, the other fifty percent were miserable. Service level was terrible. Room was not cleaned until after 5 pm more than half the time. There is no poolside or beachside drink service and it takes up to 1/2 an hour at the bar to be served during the day. Despite a no tipping policy, it was happening all the time so that those people would receive service over others. Dinner reservat[... read more]ions are impossible to get even a week out before 8pm. Compared to other all inclusive resorts the service and availability of restaurants was terrible. Not sold at all on the Sandals hype and will not be doing another one.
Sandals Ochi is a great resort. Very clean and well kept. You have to sanitize before going into any facility or restaurant on site. We had a butler suite and I want to give a big shout out to Dennis and Danrick for amazing service and helping to make our anniversary special. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed .The entertainment was also good and kept us entertained. I would recommend Sandals Ochi to anyone and I look forward to returning again soon.â¤ï¸â¤ï¸[... read more]â¤ï¸

Sandals Royal Barbados: Lovely resort for all ages
It was a typical Sandals Resort - this was our 4th. Airport transfer was quick & efficient. We did not have butler service as we find them intrusive. Club Level was perfect. Room was modern, clean, spacious and well appointed. The grounds were very well maintained daily and were lush and in full bloom. Beautifully lit up in the evening. Variety of pools for different interests eg. quiet vs full of activites. Beach was disappointing - not very long and full of reserved cabanas. Unfortunately seaw[... read more]eed was a problem but out of the resort's control.Restaurants & food were very good. Our favourite was Chi. Several employees were outstanding but most seemed disinterested in service or a smile.Nightly entertainment was so-so. Some cute amenities as Sweet & Salty Donut Shop and Cafe de Paris.

Sandals Royal Barbados: Wouldn’t go again - a disappointment!
Selection of food was good but invariably warm when delivered with one or two exceptions.
Large number of restaurants but limited seating in most. Reservations required at five but although we tried to make reservations the morning after a late arrival, the best we could get was 5:30 p.m. we were told to be on time as they would only hold the table for 10 mins. Arrived promptly at two to find the door locked! Wouldn’t let us in one as the manager hadn’t arrived, when we did get in we’re to[... read more]ld we were at the wrong restaurant as they have two restaurants with the same name!! Couldn’t make sense of the reason to not let us in at the second restaurant. The one booking we had for 6:00p.m. was a disaster as the table for four (large round table) was in the entrance to the main dining area. The chairs were so low they had to supply booster cushions to enable us
to reach the table. After some exchange we were seated elsewhere. Dress code required at some restaurants but not applied so taking dress shirt and pants a waste.
The room was comfortable but getting the right towels and facecloths was a challenge. The handbasins were one long trough without a stopper. Good to avoid spills but awkward to wash one’s face under a running faucet.
Overall, not what I expect from Sandals

Overall nice resort, friendly hospitality, a lot of amenities with adjoining Sandals Barbados. Ample loungers around pools & beach at any time of day. Twenty restaurants on site. Staff too busy to justify club concierge upgrade costs. Many cellular antennas / IT equipment on site and surrounding area that may interfere with sleeping depending on room location and sensitivity.

Sandals Ochi Beach Resort: Just Above Average
Grounds: overall quite good, lots of vegetation and little pathways which added a sense of exclusivity and an overall tropical feel. However, the resort was dated and I believe is the oldest Sandals, which is obvious from the more compartmentalized entrance and foyer. Also, way too many steps to get to beach on Seaside and to get to Ochi Beach Resort.
Food: Below what we expected for a Sandals and for the $3900 each that we spent for this trip - so we were disappointed. Portion size was minis[... read more]cule and in many restaurants, the food was too salty, and even cold on presentation of the meal. Room: The room was good overall with a nice view. The biggest disappointment was the bed which gave both of us little support and added to lower back pain, not good on a vacation. Please upgrade the mattresses! Sandals personnel were hot and cold. A number of their people were rude at the Airport reception area and in the hotel, which is not expected at a higher end resort. Upselling: There was a constant barrage of sales personnel continually trying to sell you trips, return visits, etc... in the main foyer, which was very tiring. Overal trip we would give it a 7/10. Would not go to another Sandals unless the pricing reflected a much better deal.

Sandals Negril: Nice week but…
Got our antigen test 48hrs prior to embarking on our flight to Jamaica. Proof of testing was never requested at airport or upon arrival in Jamaica. Masks in airport and in transit on bus but once at the resort, only had to wear them if going to store, but never really after that as everything was open air. All staff consistently wore their masks throughout the resort. Never seen anyone sick or having caught COVID. Lots of unvaccinated Americans all over the resort though so I guess they ca[... read more]n fly without any vaccination whatsoever so whatever.
As far as Sandals Negril, we were not impressed. First time at a Sandals and for twice of what we usually pay for a 5 star resort, we expected a lot. After all, Sandals promotes the Ultra-all-inclusive and second to none service etc…. Got there and were given the wrong room which they claimed was an upgrade. When we booked, that room was actually $300 less per person/wk, no balcony. We requested a Caribbean premium so we could have a balcony as I am a diver and dry my stuff on the balcony after dives. So after showing them what I booked, I requested we get our booked room and not the one that was given to us. So they found me one. Two hours later, we get the room that was booked. Air conditioning unit sounded like a jet engine winding up so we went back to the desk and asked to have someone look at the A/C at which point they said it couldn’t be fixed. After requesting that we get a room that we actually can sleep in, we were advised that we couldn’t get one till tomorrow and to check back in the morning. So first full day at Sandals Negril was spent chasing another room that had to be cleaned at 3 pm. NOT IMPRESSED. So we finally get our new room and the A/C is nice and quiet but didn’t work much. Maybe a bit cool at best so we just gave up and sucked it up for the week and sweating at night. Not a good start but once we settled in, it was a decent week. Drinks are ok but have had way better at other 5 star resorts. Restaurants were pretty good, especially Sundowner which has the best crab cake appetizers I ever had. We went there twice. Italian restaurant was disgusting at best. All 4 of us didn’t eat most of our plates. Just tasted weird like they didn’t know how to cook Italian food. Tapaniaki was good. the main restaurant near the lobby is the one that didn’t require reservations needed but discovered on the evening that we chose to eat there that it was a special private dinner and function for returning Sandals guests only, therefore we couldn’t eat there. This left many couples going from restaurant to restaurant to beg to let us eat although we didn’t have reservations. We luckily got in one but we seen many other couples getting turned around. There were no signs anywhere whatsoever on the resort. They actually told us while reserving the other restaurants that this one didn’t require any reservation and available all week long. Other than that, the week was relaxing with a nice chill feel at this resort. We enjoyed the week as the staff is mostly great and understanding. Not necessarily accommodating but they do listen and appear to care. They try their best and we felt that but I think management is the issue.
As far as the Sandals experience, not impressed. The rooms were very dated and were easily the plainest rooms we have ever stayed in any AI resort. We have been to many resort all over the Caribbean, always 5 star and tbh, this was probably the worst of all those for double the price. Ultra-all-inclusive??? If you don’t water ski or wanna go tubing, the same is offered at all 4 couples resorts in Jamaica at half the price and are very similar small resort and chill feeling. The evening shows were pretty plain and/or non existent. Some guy in a saxophone came out and did 3 songs, another guy came out and sang 4 songs and the entertainment was over. None of the advertised white nights or beach parties advertised on the sandals website.(maybe due to Covid but why higher price).
This resort is on a very narrow strip of land with the small Negril airport just across the road 30 feet from the room so when the airport shuts down later at night, many of the staff there leave with their little cars with loud mufflers and banging music waking the whole place up unless you pay $5000-$7000 pp/wk for ocean view. And at 6 am, the same people drive in to work with the same cars etc…so never a days break all week.
The 7 mile beach is stunning but this resort is full of boats and crap so you can only swim in two roped areas that aren’t very big. The pools are small and well kept except the main pool with the swim up bar near the lobby had a big outside pump that was circulating water all week due to issues with the filtration system I guess. Quite an eye sore.
So to sum it up, decent resort with a decent layout with mostly good food other than the Italian restaurant, very dated and plain rooms needing TLC but great service and staff. All 4 of our opinions…save half the cost of this place and pick another 5 star in Negril that isn’t this Sandals. You will have better entertainment, equal or better food/drinks and probably way better accommodations.

Sandals Barbados: Christmas in Barbados
Just returned from this resort after spending Christmas there. The Merry Monkey English Pub was the best place for service by far. The staff there was amazing. Especially Jack & Joy!!! Beach/sand is beautiful! The water is a beautiful turquoise blue/green. Water was rough every day so we couldn’t snorkel. Cafe de Paris is a great spot for crepes, red velvet cupcakes, homemade ice cream, and lattes. Sushi was fantastic. Butch’s was delicious. We had an oceanfront room which was spacious wit[... read more]h sliding doors
that opened right on to your spacious patio with a
pool and ocean view. It wasn’t what I would call oceanfront. It would be more like an ocean view room, as a huge pool and restaurant separate the building from the ocean. This was disappointing as we feel like we didn’t get what we paid for. The Sky Lounge is a must see. Your pre-departure PCR test with quick test results is part of your
all-inclusive package . That was a nice perk. COVID protocols were pretty good. They enforced mask wearing. A lot of the wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispensers were empty, but there were lots bottles of hand sanitizer on the bars. It would have been nice if they had someone enforcing social distancing when lining up for restaurants. The person/s behind you were uncomfortably close at times. We had a great time and absolutely loved the beach. Although it was nice to experience another country, our next Sandals vacation will be Sandals Grenada again.

Sandals Barbados: Outstanding Resort
We had one week at the Sandals in Barbados and enjoyed every moment. The resort grounds and pools were fantastic and clean. We loved the white sand beach on the South Caribbean Sea and the food was exceptional at every restaurant. The staff was attentive and friendly. We appreciated the strict Covid protocols that were in place and felt safe. The resort went beyond by ensuring we had our PCR tests done in good time for our return trip home. Highly recommend!

Sandals Royal Barbados: Sandals Barbados - Very Good COVID protocols
We spent a week at Royal Barbados and the cleaning protocols and mask wearing requirements were very good. Staff were constantly cleaning touch points and all staff were wearing masks and some wore gloves. Guests were asked to wear masks around the resort also. It was windy the week we were there so the beach wasn’t as pleasant and the waves were rough. The restaurants eee hood and each guest had to sanitize before they went in. We really enjoyed the Bombay and Chi restaurants. [... read more]Great food and friendly staff.
Our butlers were excellent - Stephen - Shamara and Romerias. Very accommodating and Professinal. Of note - Some of the bar staff and others were not as friendly as you would expect from at a Sandals. Perhaps it’s the stress of working in COVID times - I don’t know. We have been to 10 Sandals. Jamaica SouthCoast still ranks number 1 with us. Royal Barbados is beautiful we felt safe and it was very clean but some of the staff weren’t inviting. Good trip - enjoyable week

We were there on the 1 august until the 8
As for my comments on the resort the personal is very nice ,the room are clean the foods is average not a 5 stars most of the restaurant were closed
Du to the COVID they kept it limited
Still some construction going on they should tell they’re clientele especially
The resort is pricy for what they are offering most of my travelling is in 5 stars
Don’t mind paying but I expect more for resort that advertise what they cannot delivered
