Beautiful, Relaxing Resort

Our stay at this resort was great. It had all the amenities and more than enough variety to keep you busy and entertained for a week in paradise. Food, amenities, grounds, and staff were all excellent.

Amazing resort

This was our 13th trip to Grand Palladium in Punta Cana. Disappointing arrival experience. We were at resort at 10:15am. Totally prepared for our room not to be ready - always have beach necessities in carry on. We were told we would receive our bracelet at noon. If we wanted it sooner it would be $10/hour until noon. Our only option was to SIT IN LOBBY as we couldn't go to beach or get food without bracelet. After spending thousands of dollars on our vacation we were very upset. After much d [... read more]iscussion & asking for manager we were given bracelet. We specifically asked at booking time NOT TO BE IN JUNIOR SUITE because of stairs to sleeping area with bathroom on lower level. Yep, Junior suite it was. We were so tired & had no fight left in us we didn't even raise the issue.

Another amazing holiday

Everything was amazing... right from the moment we arrived at the resort. Our room was spectacular. The food was amazing and the beaches and view was awesome. This was our second time at this resort and we would go back for a 3rd

Lovely resort, great staff

Our first experience with the Palladium resort chain last year in Mexico was very positive and based on that first experience we chose the Palladium in the Dominion Republic and were not disappointed. The grounds are lovely, beach great, rooms generous in size and clean. Staff were wonderful. Our overall eating experience was 4 star in terms of the variety of food, preparation and presentation. The overall atmosphere of the facility was relaxed. My one slightly negative comment is th [... read more]at as a family of 9, aged 17-76 who travel once a year to reconnect and enjoy each other's company and have dinner every night together.at a time of our choice isn't possible.. I would like to see groups of this size at least be given some leeway with regard to the timing for meals. We had no choice but to eat each evening at 6 pm. We didn't mind that a couple of nights but we would have preferred to eat later a few nights as well. This was not possible. That said, we did not let that temper our vacation.

Awesome resort

Everything was great at this resort..beautiful beaches and the grounds are well maintained. There are plenty of restaurants and the buffets ...well there is everything ...including fruit loops . No one can say they can't find something to eat. They have assorted dishes and meats, fruit, breads.ect.. The staff at the resort are the most friendly that I've ever met at a resort.They sing and dance almost always which gives you this welcome happy feeling. Rooms are spacious, cleaned daily. There are 3 large pools, one has a pirates ship, slides for the kids, they also have a huge castle which is a daycare centre. There is also a casino, meringue hall Different shows nightly and another hall that has a Micheal Jackson performance. I definitely would go back to this resort. This resort is super clean and friendly.

Beautiful beaches!

My mom and I really enjoyed this resort, a little too big for our needs but quite impressive grounds and rooms were lovely. We also really liked the food and buffets. The beaches immaculate! Also, we went to the spa, which was a great experience. We came back feeling very refreshed!

Amazing resort

It's a great resort. A little bit like paradise. A lot of different restaurants with great menu's. Less to complain about. If they try to fix the issue immediately. Sometimes a bit unorganized but I think that's Dominican Republic lol.

Wedding destination

We enjoyed our stay. Come for a wedding of our cousin...beautiful backdrop...the ocean!!! Large place with many different pools to change up the days rest and relaxation. Sad day when it was time to go home = (

My Paradise

Grand Palladium Punta Cana this is our 3rd visit and we call it home away from home everything you can ask for is there! Excellent through and through we have yet been disappointed. William the bartender is amazing! Excellent value for your money! Stunning beach food is amazing I can go on and on but you must experience it for yourself! Highly recommend Grand Palladium Punta Cana!!! Can't wait to go again!!!!

Great Beach

We stayed in recently renovated rooms , which were quite nice, had to pay $50 per night for the upgrade which was worth it for a family of four. Grounds were well kept, beach was awesome. Service at the bars were great, however you had to ask for the top shelf drinks such as vodka and rums, but they did have it. Biggest downfall was eating at the a la carte restaurants. You couldn't make reservations without showing up at 5:30...even then at the most popular restaurants you might wait in lin [... read more]e for 45 minutes to make a reservation and then they would inform you that it was full for the night. If you were a member of Palladium travel clubs or if you were in the Adults only section of the resort you could make a reservation. The result of this policy, with kids, we ended up going to the buffet 3 of the six nights...which was ....buffet. I didn't pay this kind of money to eat at buffet restaurants for dinner and for that reason, I wouldn't recommend this resort.

A tad disapointing

We enjoyed the beach and the awesome weather. The resort was very clean and the staff was amazing. Really disappointed in the Christmas decorations or should I say lack there of. Not even a tree in the lobby. The food was good was lots of it. Would go back but not at Christmas.

Great vacation

My fiance and myself just returned from the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Oct 10 and we had a great time. Got there and was upgraded to the Love Suite, what a room, it had a jacuzzi and upstairs loft with a king size bed. The maid did a great job as well. This being my first time to the Palladium chain and her 4th and we weren't dissappointed, The food was great and the service was pretty good. The beaches and grounds were beautiful. Went to 3 A La Cartes with no issues at all. The Japanese and steakhouse food and service was very good. We decided to go to CoCo Bongos, that was a great decision on our behalf. The shows, crowd and atomsphere was so full of energy. Had a great time there. I would recomment this place to anyone. We will be back for sure

Small Things Add Up

AIRPORT We traveled in late August this year. This was our 1st time going to a resort in Punta Cana. All travel arrangements to and from the airport were great (just hold on to your bags as porters will try to grab them out of your hands for a walk less than 200 feet). RECEPTION When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted with a tropical drink and a cold towel (lobby is not enclosed). We had, during the booking process, requested adjoining rooms. When we arrived, the rooms were nowhe [... read more]re near each other. They eventually got us closer, but reception made it seem like it was a hassle. ROOMS We booked a junior suite and a deluxe room as we were told that you could get adjoining rooms, but not the same type. The junior suite was exactly what you see on the website. Large, beautiful view of ocean and beach, all amenities. We were very pleased (even though we had to wait until after 8:30pm to get in). While waiting, we went to the deluxe room. It was NOWERE near what is depicted on the website. It was a standard room, closer to the pool and beach. Don't be mislead by the website! The next day, we requested the room beside or across from the junior suite. We were told the were sold out during our stay. We were deliberately misinformed. These rooms were vacant during our entire stay. Staff simply didn't want to accommodate the change even though we were willing to pay for a upgrade. We made the best of it despite the minor inconvenience and reception staff attitude. VENDORS EVERYWHERE Do not expect to relax on the beach, by the pool, getting towels, walking to restaurants or walking around the resort. You are constantly bothered by vendors!!!!! There is no escape. Vendors selling excursions, straw hats, cigars, spa treatments, etc. The worst is the location of towel service. In order to get your beach towels, you had to go to an excursion desk where they would often not give you your towels until you listened to their pitch. Every single time. A real pain!! FOOD OK, food is subjective so take this as you see fit: Our best a la carte meal was at the Mexican restaurant and it was good at best. The other a la carts we attended (Italian, Steakhouse, Japanese) were very disappointing. The first come, first served method is also a pain. We arrived at the Italian restaurant around 7pm and were advised of a 1.5hr wait time. The adjacent restaurant was the Steakhouse, so we went there instead (no wait). 1st resort where you couldn't make reservations. This too was a big pain. The buffets were ok. The food selections never changed (for breakfast, lunch or dinner). We tended to eat the same thing day after day. Again, one persons meat is another persons poison. Take what you want from this. CUSTOMER SERVICE I have already noted how we were treated by reception regarding the room, so I will move pass that. In general, staff were pleasant. Some staff would look you in the eye and walk right past when you were requesting anything. Others went out of their way to offer you an enjoyable experience. It took 3 calls and one face to face to get the bar fridges restocked. even then, it was no where near daily (every 2-3 days). Small pain, but we paid for the service, it should be received. BEACH The beach itself is gorgeous! A lot of lounges available, shade if you want it, bars on the beach. The turquoise waters were amazing. Beach was well maintained. POOLS The pools were very clean, tons of lounges (again with or without shade), nice atmosphere. water was cool too, so it felt very refreshing when you jumped in!

Excellent resort

The grand palladium punta Cana was an amazing family friendly resort. The staff were all fantastic and made our stay very comfortable. The food was excellent. The grounds are big but don't that deter you, it's easy to find everything you need or want! Def recommend this resort

Great resort willing to go back!

Resort is really big lots to do great beach multiple pools and bars Great food couple of buffets and lots of restaurants. Really liked it and recommend it to anyone with family or friends great place.

A striving 5 star resort - Flaws trumps 5 star proclamation.

We traveled as group 18 (12 adults, 6 children ages 6-9) - July 30 to August 6, 2016. Booked 6 rooms since March 2016. I've been to 5 stars resorts every year for the last 13 years. Not to bore you with details, our overall review is: **This resort might look awesome in website pictures, with the 8 restaurant, huge facility, abundance of pools, nice looking rooms, BUT IN REALITY: 1 - Restaurants ARE a daily hassle. You need to line up since no reservations is allowed. And the food are  [... read more]just fresh looking as the buffet. 2 - The Tram service to take you around is so minimal. It seems that there's only 2 train going around since the wait can be as long as 30 mins. 3- Pool are so hazy that your eyes will burn due to lack of chlorine. Its more evident if you look at the pool at night and you can not even see the bottom of the pool. 4 - Its nice to have a Jacuzzi, only if the jets are not so dirty looking. Our shower head was broken and so as the nozzle for the water to come up to the shower head. We gave up complaining about it that we have to place a YUCKY garbage can to the nozzle to shower decently. Our "clean" folded towel had black stains and questionably clean. 5- Vendors selling Jewelry and excursion on every turn. Everyday, you will have hassled. EVERYDAY!! Most disappointing of all is the service and lack of friendliness by the staff and cook. It wouldn't hurt to smile back when greeted. I truly find the cleaning ladies to be snobs. The pasta cook in one of the buffet looks like he doesn't care at all. And I have to line to him 3 times. Customer service is obviously is not a priority to this resort. With these flaws, this resort is a 3 star at its best. Will not recommend to anyone. Food will be the same all else, but its the service that counts. Room Tip: Aging resort. Rooms are terrible. Very disappointed

this hotel seems to cater to a certain group and there are different rules for different complexes, depending on where you're staying. we did not receive the room we requested, we were 3 in our group and housekeeping kept leaving us only 2 towels each day, beach towels were not readily available and we had to wait 3 days to get fresh towels. There is a bar in the room that gets replenished, but they don't give you a bottle opener to open and enjoy. When we asked for one, it took almost 4 days [... read more] to get one brought to our room. The buffets do not change at all, they are the same every day. There are many restaurants on site, and you're told that you don't need a reservation, but when you get to the restaurant for dinner, they tell you that you can't be seated until the Royal Suites group has had dinner cause they have reservations. This was the same at all the restaurants on site except the sports bar that only offered hamburgers and fries (YUK). The representatives ONLY SPOKE SPANISH so it was very hard to communicate with the staff. There was no entertainment by the pool as you would expect, and when there was, it was only related to in Spanish, so you had no idea what was going on. Asked for change at the registration desk to break $100 bill and came back home to find out by bank it was counterfeit.Paid almost $300.00 to our party of 3 to take a day tour of the capital and our tour guide spoke very little english, so we didn't get the information translated as to what he was saying. So poorly organised and the tour took over 13 hours to complete, way too long of a day!. We are so disappointed with this vacation that we will never recommend this place to any family or friends. we expected so much and got so little.

Disappointing Hotel

When we booked this hotel, we were sold that it was going to be great and a lot of fun, however upon arrival, it was disaster after disaster. The hotel itself was much bigger than we expected as the restaurants are not all on the same resort, they span over the multiple Grand Palladium resorts that are connected and you have to try and find them and walk far to get to them, and the map they provide SUCKS! We were even advised by our Sunwing Rep that the map sucks so don't even bother using it!  [... read more] When we arrived it took them forever to check us in, we were exhausted and hot and wanted to get to our room. Prior to coming we had requested to get a cot in our room, and when we arrived there was no cot so we requested one from the front desk. We had to call 5 times before someone came at 10pm that night. We were also only given 2 towels in the bathroom when we were in fact 4 guests, and surprise surprise, we had to call 5 times to get towels! There were also no beach towels left by 2pm when we arrived, which is not acceptable when this isn't peak season and the resort isn't booked out. The room was good enough, however the pillows smelt like sweat, they were gross. The pool was always filthy, with hair balls, cigarette buts and garbage, it was not properly maintained. Service received from the staff was abysmal. When we went for breakfast or dinner at the buffet, we would usually get there shortly after it opened and we'd have to steal cutlery from other tables or coffee mugs because no one would come around to give us any of it. When you book your excursions through the Dive Shop, you need to make sure they are not going to their buddy down the beach to book it because that happened to us and we tried to get our money back and it took a while to finally get it back. They let a lot of hagglers on the resort so you get stopped every 5 minutes being asked to buy something or buy a tour which was really annoying, we’d avoid going certain ways or places because we knew there would be people to harass us. The food was good, no complaints about the food and the bar service by the pool area was awesome, always someone walking around and bringing us drinks. All in all I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, it was definitely not a 4 Star, more like a 2 ½ star. Very disappointing.

Amazing resort (wow)

we just got back from the grand palladium punta cana and it was great, almost flaw-less, i think the food, drinks ans service was the best i ever had so far, in my group of 12 i think everyone was happy and everyone said they will return some day, i know i will. if you go on trip advisory and if you read the bad reviews they are the people that can fine 7 things with a rain bow and should stay home. it's a beautiful place and if you do book and go you will have the time of your life. thanks for  [... read more]reading. wayne.

Great beach, okay food/service

We travelled to the Palladium Punta Cana the week of May17. Overall it was a good experience- the buffets were typical mass produced buffet breakfasts but we really enjoyed the fresh shakes and the crepe/waffle/pancake station. We never used the omelette station because we don't eat meat and there wasn't really a veggie pan and meat pan but those who did seemed to really enjoy it. We tried the Japanese and Brazilian and all the buffets- all were okay- you can always find something you like. We LOVED the Tapas and Mexican on the Bavaro side. We also showed up around 7 and could get seated right away on the three nights we went. We noticed long line when we were leaving though. There are so many bars throughout we didn't get a chance to visit them all but they all looked really great. We recommend taking the train around the resort on the first day- it will show you all the resort has to offer. Our biggest complaint was that no one introduces you to anything about the resort. You are given a map, taken to your room and you just have to figure the rest out for yourself. For example there is a huge sports area where you can rent bikes, play tennis or soccer/football, or even archery! Also, we really didn't enjoy the nightly entertainment. Overall we didn't get worked up about the little things, we locked up our stuff (twice saw ppl writing reports about their rooms being broken in to), and tried to soak up the sun as much as possible.
