All I hoped for!

We had a lovely time at Occidental Cozumel. It was everything we hoped for. Quiet, peaceful with excellent service by everyone from check in and restaurants and activities. The grounds were very natural and beautiful. It felt more personal than going to a massive resort. I would recommend this hotel and island to anyone and I have since being home. The food was really good at both the buffet and the ala cart restaurants. Thanks for a great holiday!!

Great Vacation!

We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The ground were very lush and jungle-like, very well kept and beautiful. There was lot's of wildlife around, which was fun to watch. The food was great, with lots of options for everyone. The rooms were clean, and large, and had everything we needed. The only downfall for us with this resort, was that it was very quiet (perhaps too relaxing). We travelled with a group of 10, and we were looking for fun and to party. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing resort with not much to offer in terms of entertainment, than this one is it! Being in a larger group, we were able to make our own fun - but sometimes were told to quiet down :o( The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely recommend this resort to a friend - depending on what you are looking for.

Great trip to Occidental Cozumel

Thank you to Jarius at trip Central for assisting with our travel to Occidental Cozumel last week! Had an excellent time at the resort. Occidental is a smaller resort but we enjoyed the accommodations. Rooms are great and kept very clean. The beach and pool areas were great, just needed more lounge chairs on the beach as you had to go very early in the morning to reserve chairs. Very fun atmosphere at the pool and beach. Food was good,small buffets but you could always find something t [... read more]o eat. We went to 2 of the 3 restaurants and found the food was just ok, not spectacular. Rented jeeps through the hotel and toured part of Cozumel and then did a snorkeling trip which was great. Had a great vacation at Occidental.

Great resort!

Occidental is a small resort, which I loved! We have been to other resorts that were so big one needed a tram to get around! Great nightly entertainment and wonderful staff. You can book many activities around the island right at the resort. Love all the vegetation and the iguanas and coatis are everywhere. Only two drawbacks - the beds are quite hard and we didn't have hot water in the shower for three nights.

Quiet, and small resort.

The resort is very clean and well kept. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time as a group, but feel that as two people we might have been a bit bored. The food in the buffet was quite good. The late night pizza was great, but we found the a la carte restaurants a bit lacking- I would steer clear of the beef dishes, as those seemed to be the worst. The wine was not good, and drinks were inconsistent. However, because they are free pouring, just find a bar tender you like [... read more], and go to him. The shows at night were quite good, but day time activities were lacking. Overall, I think it was a nice trip, and would recommend the resort to couples or groups. Children would be bored stiff here.

We love it here!!

Awesome staff! Front office Gabriel is the best. Small resort with a big heart. Beds are very comfortable; clean rooms; large bathrooms. Food delicious, many options. Love the beach-able to snorkel from shore. Entertainment staff are amazing, great shows.

Great holiday

we were celebrating our 45th anniversary and had a really good time. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and well maintained and the food was very good. People always talk about the liquor being watered down at all - inclusives but I had a few straight shots while we were there and they were not watered down. The pool was nice and the beach was beautiful and well looked after. We went to all three a la carte restaurants during our stay and had three excellent meals. We  [... read more]asked to change rooms after the first night because we were right beside the entertainment that went til 1:30 am and they were very nice about it, moving us to a quieter area. It was mostly couples staying at the resort, with a few larger groups who were a little boisterous, but no bad behaviour.

Amazing Resort!

We stayed at the Occidental Royal Level mid January for 1 week. We loved it. The grounds are immaculate, and sooo lush. The food was average to very good. The ala cartes were excellent. The rooms very spacious and clean. Staff always very friendly. Would highly recommend, and would definitely return.

Beautiful and intimate resort on the white sandy beach.

Even in high season, this small resort offers solitude amongst the lush greenery. The Occidental Grand is located on a beautiful beach, great for wading, swimming, and snorkeling. There's a pool right on the beach if you'd rather not swim with the curious and friendly fish in the water. The food is great, and always available. Drink service right on the beach while you relax on one of the loungers at your convenience. Great staff

Smaller resort with really nice grounds. Outdoor entertainment was outside or first block and we had to move. Rooms are 24 per block and set up in a courtyard fashion - you hear everything/everybody. Got super busy/uncomfortable just before Christmas.

Not a 4+ Star - Needs improvement on the food.

The Occidental Cozumel is a very lush and beautiful resort. The grounds and rooms were beautiful. My husband and I upgraded to the Royal Rooms before our arrival, and the room was excellent with comfortable beds. However, the food in the buffet could be greatly improved.The a la carte restaurants were fine, however, nothing was outstanding. As this resort has been taken over by the Barcelo Group, the Occidental Cozumel should communicate with the Barcelo in the Mayan on how to improve the select [... read more]ion and quality of food offered. In my opinion, it should not be rated a 4+ Star, as the food needs some major improvements.

Great resort !

We just got back from a 1 week stay at the Occidental.The grounds are beautiful. The hotel is clean. The rooms are spacious. The staff is friendly. Although there is room for improvement when it comes to the food, my family and I will consider going back again.

A Fine Resort

We chose this resort, partly because we had been there 2-years ago. (We've also been to COZUMEL six times to other resorts there) Since the last time, there has been a substantial overhaul, due, partially to the hotel becoming part of the BARCELO group. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay

Great Family Trip

Occidental Cozumel is a beautiful and well kept resort. We visited with a large family group (17) and with any large group there were a few hiccups. We did not all get the rooms we requested (ie a family of four with one king bed) but with a bit of negotiating the staff was able to accomodate us (2 cots brought into our room). We found the food to be excellent (if you like Mexican food) and the service at the restaurants to be good. The beach was beautiful but due to wind the water was a bit [... read more] cloudy. We hired a boat for a snorkelling trip through the dive centre attached to the hotel and this was great. We also hired cars through the hotel (not so great as one broke down). Renting jeeps is recommended but I would go with an outfit separate from the hotel as it is expensive and the jeeps were frustratingly in poor condition. Overall I would recommend this resort if you like smaller quieter resorts.

A great family experience

A great all inclusive resort to take my Family of 17 to. One of the best we have been to. Lots of activities both at the resort and around the island. Will definitely recommend the resort and Cozumel especially for families.

Great Family Trip

Great destination, great resort, food was great, staff and service was great! Would definitely recommend this resort and David as your trips organizer! The beach was nice and close to all the rooms, the dive shop outfit that was located on the resort had great guides who were very knowledgeable and took us to some very special snorkeling spots. Thank you from all of us!

Beautifully natural and quiet

This is a recently renovated not very big resort with lush vegetation and gardens. Friendly and knowledgeable staff Amazing beach and water with nice clean pools. Well stocked bars. Very good alacart restaurants.

Beautiful Resort,very calm.

The personnel is warm and very helpful, always welcoming. The grounds are very well maintained. Our room was the best one I have had in a long time while traveling in the Caribbean, in terms of cleanliness and having all the necessary items available, everything worked well (toilet, shower, air conditioning), the bed was very comfortable. We used the back balcony a few times. It is very close to the forest, we saw or heard many birds singing. There was not many mosquitoes when we were there.  [... read more] There was always 1 or two persons near the lobby wanting to sell you time share, but after a while you know who they are and after having asked a couple time they let you be. The snorkeling was very near the hotel and other places further, the water was great, (quite strong water current on the first day we got there, the other days were better for the current) nice sandy bottom at the beach. Food was good, a nice variety, the a la carte...Mediterranean restaurant was a great choice, very well done. The food near the pool always had something for every taste. We didn't get to see many night time shows, but we saw the one where three persons were doing figures with torches of fire... We enjoyed it very much. Even if the environment is very small for the shows and in the open air, it gives it a homey feeling. For me the calmness of the place, the discovery of the little animals around, the walk on the beach and the good company made it all a very good time. I would go back. pcg0311

Great Resort (except for the food)

Everything except the food would bring us back to this resort. The food selection was limited. The food quality was “fair” at best and not up to the rating of the hotel. This also applies to the three restaurants on site. The beach, the service and amenities were all very good.

Great Resort

We had a great vacation at Occidental Mexico in Cozemel, great food, Rooms were very clean and so were the grounds. All Staff were pleasant and very helpful if needed. We did catch a show after dinner and it was great aswell. We would recommend this resort and would happy to stay there again. Beach was clean and loved the snorkeling right on the beach. We rented a car and toured the island which was amazing and beautiful aswell. Thank you. Mark and Bonnie Convey
