I love Negril!

Between finding my perfect little spot on the beach and eating authentic Jamaican cuisine - I spent a week in heaven. Riu Negril is a beautiful place to spend a week away from the Canadian cold weather.

Amazing resort

all areas well maintained , our rooms were well looked after and the food was great we never were without , met a lot of other great people , the staff was most curtious and accommodating , We would recommend to all our friends , and make a return trip

Amazing vacation spot

We stayed at the Riu Club over the Christmas break. We had perfect weather and a memorable trip/stay. Room: well maintained and cleaned daily. When we requested something we needed it was delivered. Food: excellent. We had buffet everyday, food was plentiful and never cold (if it was supposed to be hot). The jerk-chicken on the beach during lunch time was delicious. We ate at the Steakhouse and Italiano a la carts and both were pretty tasty, a nice change from the buffet. Entertainment: terrific entertainment staff, the evening programs were enjoyable; Beach Party and Dancers were my favourite evenings. Beach: was cleaned every morning and ready to use for the guests. Within the water it was muddy (not sandy) which made it murky. Everyday we walked the Bay and the beach water by the other resorts was much cleaner and wasn’t as muddy. The water was always warm and refreshing though. We still went in the beach water everyday in front of the Riu Club, no problems. There are sting rays, fish, sea stars, and sea urchins there which was amazing to see so close to the shore. Bar Service: friendly, we tipped but didn’t feel an obligation to do so. Excursion 1: Sunset Catarman to Ricks Cafe (Sunwing) amazing. We spent time at Seven Mile beach at Margaritaville before getting on the cat., we enjoyed the wait with the white sand. Our first stop was snorkelling, where we saw fish and coral. After we cruised to Ricks Cafe. We didn’t jump off the cliffs, but many did. The atmosphere there was pumping with a DJ spinning tunes and people dancing. The cruise back was awesome, lots of dancing and music blaring from the DJ on board. Excursion 2 (Tropial Tours): YS Falls, Black River Safari, and Appleton Estate. The tour guide, Karen, was informative teaching us about the history of Jamaica. All three stops were amazing and memorable. First stopped at Appleton, your guide thoroughly explained the process with tasting throughout, and then taste of three types of Rum at the end. Ate lunch at YS before heading up to the falls. A guide escorted my husband and I only through the falls, he took our camera and took pics and we navigated our way up to the top of the cascading falls, so awesome! The tour guide at Black River was fantastic and witty, he kept us laughing as we toured through the river. We saw many different crocs. We are going back tomorrow, haha! No we will be returning in the future.

Amazing resort

I would definitely recommend this resort. The staff was fantastic especially the entertainment group. Food was very good and lots of it. I would suggest you take water shoes if you plan on spending time at the beach. My only complaint was how uneven the sand was in the water (I didn't feel safe walking) A shout out to some of the staff Kevan who checked us in at 12:30 am Kevin who served us our first drinks in the sports bar. We ate most meals at the buffet but did eat at the steak House twice. I highly recommend the jerk chicken hut on the beach. Great resort

Very clean-always cleaning common bathrooms. Food was great great, lots of options at buffet. Great drinks and service. Paul at the lobby bar makes a great Long Island ice tea!! Beach is nice. Overall great resort, no complaints.

Fantastic experience

The food was awesome, resort was clean and not dated. Cleaning staff could have done a bit better in the daily room clean, but not a big complaint. Entertainment was good, not amazing. Staff were all friendly. Had a great stay and would go back.

Relaxing Vacation!

We stayed at RIU Negril for 1 week at the end of November. Here are some Pros and cons of the resort. Pros: clean large rooms, excellent food, great beach, great sea life, clean resort Cons: poor to none existing waitress service, nightly entertainment is repetative, staff not too friendly at beach bar Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this resort to others.

Food was good.....place was big the only thing that bugged me was the access card would not work at times but the place was great...........................................I gave the correct stars for the place

Happy wife, happy life

It was perfect, we stayed in building 2, room 2017. best view of the bay and near the beach bar. Jenn Black of Tripcentral.ca was terrific at helping me get the most for money. the crystal clear water of the bay is outstanding from the beach we seen Stingrays, Starfish, barracuda and crabs. the staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and the food was delicious. ( Mandalay restaurant, pass on that, had better food at the mall ) Best dinner was at the steak house! Room was up to date and v [... read more]ery clean, we had a fresh pool 30 feet from our room a salt water pool about 150 feet away. and they had great nightly entertainment including a beach party. simply put, this is the best of the 3 Riu hotels I have stayed in.

Stunning resort

Loved everything about the resort. From the friendly staff to the delicious food. Our room was always cleaned never did it slack. Definitely would come back to this resort!! The beach was beautiful!!!

Breathtaking Experience

This hotel was such a great place ! The staff was so welcoming, the food was amazing and the hotel was so up to date. I’m so happy I didn’t listen to the negative reviews because there was nothing wrong with this resort !

Ya Mon Jamaica

We recently stayed at the Riu Negril the resort was amazing. The people are the best part of Jamaica. Curtis and Natalia took really good care of us at the Main Bar making our trips a positive experience that we always looked forward too. The Resort always has events happening if you like to keep busy or you can either hang at the pools or the ocean. The Food was great with lots of variety. Family friendly

It was beautiful, the dancers were amazing and the entertainment was plentiful. The food was amazing and had lots of choice for allergy suffers like my son. The only issue i had was with the day staff not cleaning the room, i had three kids and a few clothes on the floor. She took the tips and tried to skip my room like she had done the days before even though we needed toiletries and bedding to be replaced. She was rude to my kids and myself and huffed and puffed while she added new sheets whic [... read more]h smelled bad and didn't replace the cover. My baby was ill and needed a nap so we covered the whole bed with towels to mask it. Other than her (other maids/staff were very kind) it was amazing and the excursions and entertainment were great ( bit pricey). i also reccomend the massages : ) it was gorgeous and really felt like paradise.

Great resort

Great resort for the most part. could use elevators for the third level rooms, as a long climb at the end of the day! No coffee makers in standard rooms and a long walk to the Sports bar....only place for coffee in the morning other than in the buffet. Those are the only complaints, great beach, entertainment, food and staff were all fantastic! Would go again in a heartbeat! Everything Irie !

This Resort is amazing - we will be back!!!!

My husband and I went to this resort for our 6 year wedding anniversary and we are so glad we did. It was amazing!!! Our travel agent recommend this resort and she picked the most perfect resort for us. The food was soooo good - I think I gained weight on vacation. We tried the Asian restaurant and the steakhouse ( I had a rib eye steak in Jamaica - yum). The buffet has so much food and all of it was so good too so we liked going there more. OMG the beach - WOW- the resort was in a bay so the water for the most part was very calm - you could walk around in water and bottom. We saw a large star fish, crabs, sting ray. So cool !! Plus every once in a while you have a local come and sing some Jamaican tunes with their guitar - not loud - but lovely to listen to while relaxing on the beach. People were singing along and dancing. The atmosphere is so great. They have the "fun" team who will keep you entertained all week. you can join on activities or you can watch - activities were on the beach and at pool. The beach party Monday night was so fun!!! Local Reggae music mixed with top hits made everyone have a great time - bar down there on beach too made it so easy to have a blast. THE PEOPLE - they are what made this resort and Jamaica so amazing for us. They are so friendly. Laugh with you - joke around - sing - they truly care that you are having a good time. A few people that stuck out to us was Claudia in the sports bar, Lamar the taxi driver, and Famous the entertainer. Thanks RIU Negril for an amazing vacation - we will be back to see you all soon. This time we are sharing this amazing experience with family and friends.

Good until last day

Rooms are clean, oceanfront is perfect and food was great ! Day 2 we noticed a cigarette players was on the floor we thought it was our brother in law dropped impossibly, (didn’t think much into it) Day 4 noticed another so jokingly told my brother in law to keep his cigarettes in his room were not smokers) but he says no those are not mine don’t smoke these Day 6 found 5-6 again this time we thought it may have been the cleaning staff as people give gifts but this time we thought this m [... read more]any makes no sense. Obviously someone was coming into our room and keeping an eye on us returning to our room and almost got caught and rushed out?? Anyway we addressed our concerns and was surprised with the results and the conclusion. There was no staff that was in our room on Sunday when we found the bunch of them, called front desk and they definitely didn’t rush nor really care The beach area which is directly in front of the rooms is filled with locals who are continuously bothering you to purchase things from hats lobster and drugs We became aware and noticed how the grounds and beach staff are connected to the locals. We noticed a small amount of money was missing as our friends as well. We stayed in block 3, I would make sure to keep an eye out and set up your cameras if you can!! Hope they catch these people They were very smart but to take personal Items that would be noticed they were taking people’s cigarettes obviously and small Amounts of cash if left out they returned !! There was small amounts 9if money from our room and our sisters room It was very upsetting to end our trip on this note, the food and vacation was okay until we finally caught on to what was happening. Our privacy was invade and the staff just didn’t care !!

Wow 5 stars

Don't wait to book your trip. I was so worried when I booked but did I ever get it right this time. The staff were friendly and efficient. They always treated us with respect and as family. The food and the restaurants were 5 star. My husband really enjoyed the evening live bands and perfectional shows the rooms and resort are kept very clean\ We are already searching for deals to return. Thank you Riu Negril and tripcentral.

'the best vacation ever.

'don't wait just book your vacation. I was so worried when I booked my vacation, but I really got it right this time. The food and restaurants were 5 star. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The evening shows were fantastic. The staff were extremely friendly, always helpful and the service was especially efficient. Everyone treated us with respect. Hello, here is our review of the Riu Negrilstaying there March 3 until the 11, 2019 Out of all 11 RIU Resorts we have stayed at , this one would be the worst. The food is ok at the buffets, however the food is certainly not hot. the italian is the best selection for food that is served hot Dining outdoors in the am is like sitting in a bird santuary, constantly being bombarded with black birds looking for food There were cochroaches outside the Italian restaurant one night The pool with  [... read more]the swim up bar was filthy, one day i saw 2 used condoms floating tin the pool water. The pool between building 2 and 3, half the sun screens were missing off the frame work there was broken glass in several places, one lady cut open her foot 2 boys were stung by jelly fish on the ocean /beach edge The staff will go above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay. the rooms are clean The pools need some work Management is never seen and as a RIU member, there are no perks here at the resort like others The RIU Palace up the beach would be a far better choice and well worth the extra dollars o stay there as it is very clean, well maintained and operated Stay away from the catarmaran trip from RIU, Scuba Caribe staff totally untrained for emergency first aid, as we witnessed, music is fuckin nigger this fucking nigger that, every song The best RIU we have ever stayed in was the RIU Palace Costa Rica We are not hard people to please but we are very honest in our reviews

Riu Nigril Jamiaca

A good 3.5 star resort. Could easily be a 4.5 star with some small changes. Good staff rooms are very clean. Supposed to be non smoking but not enforced at all, so butts are everywhere. The beach is beautiful but muddy as you walk out further in the water. The Riu Palace is a butter choice.
