Great Resort!

First time to Cuba. This was an amazing family resort. Staff were great. Food was great. We travelled with a 3 year old and there was a gradual entry in the pool which was perfect. Beach was amazing (as expected for Veradero). Nothing to complain about!

Amazing Resort

We found the Iberostar Varadeo to be a top notch resort. The grounds are beautifully kept and guest friendly with multiple walking paths. All areas of the resort were very clean and well lit for night time strolls. Our room was spacious and the king sized bed comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and strived to meet our needs to insure we were having a good time. Down at the beach is an employee who assisted with locating beach chairs with shelter. Walking about the res [... read more]ort we encountered different employees most of whom inquired if we were finding our stay enjoyable and if we needed assistance with anthing to ask. This made us feel pampered and we loved it, never having experienced this kind of hospitality before. Regarding dining one will never go hungry as there is a multitude of selections. However, much of the prepared foods, in the buffet dining area, had very little flavour so we had a variety of cheeses with our breakfast and dinner. I would highly recommend supporting the local economy by purchasing fresh, seasonal, fruits, as those that were available were tasteless--I had never seen pineapple slices so white before instead of the deep yellow of ripe sweetness. Our favourite dining spot on the resort was the Cuban al la carte. Our first meal was succulent and flavourful--so much so that we returned a second and third time. Had we visited longer we would have had all our dinners at the Cuban restaurant. We were able to sample a bit of the local cuisine with the rice and beans and the yucca--Yum! The lobster, fish, shrimp and soup were also most flavourful. We plan to return in 2 years with a few family members and some friends.

Iberostar Varadero - Awesom

We just spent a week at the Iberostar Varadero in Cuba in March 2018. It was amazing! The room was clean and easily accommodated the three of us (two adults and a seven year old). Yeni always made sure we had fresh towels. And we never had issues with noise coming through the walls. We mostly ate at the buffets where the wait staff were quite attentive, ensuring we had coffee, water and juice at breakfast. At supper, we never had an empty glass of wine! The food selection was diverse and  [... read more]there was always something to enjoy eating, even for our picky 7 year old daughter. Jorge, Roxy and many other took care of us! The beach was wonderful and we were always able to find chairs and a shady spot to relax. The bar was close by, and a waiter was always near to top off a drink. Poolside was the same, and Julisa kept us well hydrated! Activities were great. Zumba lessons with Chocalate, shuffle board, pellet gun competitions, quizzes with Denis, kept us laughing and busy all day. A few pluses was the proximity to the airport, only a 30-40 minute drive and it was easy to organize a day trip and tour of Havana. Only 355 more days to go until we're back!

Nice resort

We can to Cuba for a mother daughter beach holiday and the beach was everything we expected and more. So beautiful! The hotel was also as expected. A five star in Cuba is not really a five star but was fine. The food also lives up, or down, to expectations. You don't go there for the food

Great Cuban Resort

My husband and I were both really impressed with this resort! When booking our honeymoon we chose to go to this resort because of its rating, and we weren't disappointed. Aside from the Parque Central in Havana, this is our favorite and by far the best all-inclusive we have been to in Cuba. We have previously stayed at the Blau in Varadero and felt everything about this resort was better. The grounds were well maintained, the pool was in great shape and the service was awesome. The entertainment [... read more] (star staff) went above and beyond to make sure the guests were happy and entertained. The fitness center and spa were both great and every one catered to our needs. Our only complaint was that the food workers were handling raw and cooked meat with the same utensils. We noticed this both at the Japanese restaurant and at the buffet. The employees would use a fork to place raw chicken skewers on the cook top and then would serve you your cooked chicken skewer with that same utensil. This would be an easy fix for management to implement this basic food safe practice. Despite this, neither of us became ill and we both thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We would go back in a heartbeat and next time would gladly take our kids!

Great resort

This resort is clean, beautiful grounds. Great for all ages. The food was fantastic, but I think the beach grill could have had a little more choice other than burgers and hotdogs. The buffet had a great selection of different food every day. The service was amazing, everywhere in the resort. Loved every minute . We were a group of 10 and we were all very happy with this beautiful resort.

Great resort!

We recently visited Iberostar Varadero in Cuba, where we are return customers. It was sad to see a lot of the trees and green areas damaged by the hurricane, not just at the resort but all over. The resort itself has been rebuilt and repaired and you would not otherwise be able to tell they experienced the hurricane. It was not the best weather this time around (cold front came in the week we were there), but the staff were wonderful and we still had a great time. Service is excellent. People ar [... read more]e friendly and helpful. Resort and rooms are kept up in very good condition. The buffet is excellent and we are there most days. I'm not personally a fan of the themed restaurants, as I've found they miss the mark in terms of the cuisine. We also travel with children, so the buffet is just easier. The pool was cold due to the weather, but the entertainment staff were great in engaging the guests and keeping things fun and upbeat. The beach is kept up well, and there are lifeguards on duty. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

Amazing resort!!

Visited the last week of November. While the resort may not be new it is very well maintained and impeccable. The staff are warm, friendly and take wonderful care of their guests! The beach is beautiful, the food is delicious!! Cafe star is wonderful! Wish every hotel had one. Excellent coffee! I have been to Cuba many times. This resort is definitely one we will visit again.

Great Resort

Beautiful Resort. Staff is very friendly and go out of way to give great service. Very well maintained. Food is average. Speciality restaurant we book Mediterranean and Japanese and both were good. Beautiful long beech with white sand.

Amazing location

This is a very beautiful resort, Got off the bus and was greeted with warm and friendly smiles, got to the check-in counter and more smiles and comforting greetings, process was a breeze they knew we were coming and everything was prepared, with drinks in hand we were escorted to our room, which was very inviting and spacious. Great resort

excellent beach, soft sand, wide beach frontage amazing swimming pool very good food excellent entertainment, great evening shows great maid service hotel villas, pool and other buildings: fabulous architectural design. In general, the hotel catered to details; very impressive. Need to improve: - Front desk - Employees were not very friendly and not knowledgeable about the hotel rooms. - Returning guests - We were returning guests and asked for king size bed when we booked. At ch [... read more]eck-in, we got a room with 2 double bed. The front desk employee promised another room with king size bed the next day. We viewed the room the next day, it was still a room with two double beds. Therefore we decided not to change room. - We asked for a room facing the beach when we booked, our request was not honoured. However, our friend who was the first time to the hotel got a standard room with the view we asked for. We had the feeling that the hotel does not value returning customers but to please new customers. If this is the way the hotel treat their returning customers, we doubt if we should do the hotel a favour as to refer it to our family members and friends.

My expectations were exceeded

Room 1721-Great junior suite, spacious and well kept. The housekeeper was excellent and made animals and birds daily. Overall the staff was friendly and very helpful. Our stay was curt short by Irma but we will be back for sure because everyday was wonderful. We went to Havana and saw the fantastic Tropicana show and shopped at both the hotel and Varadero.This is truly a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful Resort

The resort is very clean and beautiful. Great service overall. I didn't like that there were flies sitting on the food in the buffet restaurant and the food wasn't kept very warm. But overall, I really enjoyed myself.

Great time, very accomodating

Gorgeous five star in Cuba, with activities throughout the day, and good food. Room is massive, including a huge balcony and the staff are very accommodating to every need. Maid spoke English perfectly and was helpful to every request. Lobby bar is great place to grab a coffee in the morning, gym is a decent size with aged but functional equipment and after a gym session be sure to ask the gardner to crack open a freshing coconut for you! Enjoy

BEST VACATION EVER

The resort was just beautiful. The staff was very welcoming and they provided efficient and great service. Also, the resort was very clean and accomodating. I recommend for people to go to this resort.

Great Resort!

This resort is very comfortable. Not too big or too small. It's just right. Very friendly and outgoing staff. Everyone works very hard to make your stay enjoyable. All requests ( crib, baggage pick-up) were all handled promptly. The buffet offers a wide variety of choices, from lobster to fresh fish, chicken and pork. The food was delicious. Great shows! Probably the best one's I've seen in Cuba. They did water acrobats too! The grounds are well kept and charming. The kids splash pad is also fantastic with water slides, a park and kids club. Very family oriented. The beach was well kept, white sand. Low tide you can walk out more than 10 metres! Beautiful, beautiful. Had a great time and will most likely go back again.

Exceeded our Expectations

We stayed at this resort May 18th for a week and were very happy with our stay. It seems all you hear is that be prepared for the food as it isn't very good. We didnt find this at all. This resort has an exceptional buffet that had tons of variety and was changed up each night. We ate at all 3 restaurants on site and would have preferred the buffet..they were more in the line of what you hear of cuba food. Beach is very nice and pool area had lots of chairs to pick from. Drinks are hit and miss  [... read more]and the cafe was an awesome bonus for afternoon tea and snack. Rooms were great with comfortable beds. Resort is a nice size for walking. instead of the tours we took a taxi to the caves and havana...as cool as a classic car sounds for travelling to havana keep in mind there isn't air conditioner and made for a long day and we wished we would have used a regular taxi which is what we did for the rest of the trips. Wifi worked well in the lobby area but that is about it. You pay for a card that costs $2 CAD for 1 hour.

Awesome Resort

We are a family of 12 with ages from 19 to 86 who spent the week of May 15-22 at Iberostar Varadaro. This is a top notch resort where everyone loved the food and the grounds and beach are beautiful. The staff are plentiful, helpful and cheerful. The rooms are good but we weren't there for the rooms. The nightly entertainment and ballet show in the pool was superb. The entertainment crew was really nice- not pushy but made everything available. Many opportunities to win a bottle of rum or a t-shi [... read more]rt: air gun shooting, darts, shuffleboard, mini-Putt, bingo, raffles, volleyball, water polo. We also enjoyed swimming in the ocean and nightly sunsets across the ocean. And of course-our favourite: an awesome pool with swim-up bar.

Great hotel

We are a family with a 2 years old. We stayed 5 days at april and we really appreciate this hotel and also booking with tripcentral. The staff is really friendly and they were so kind with us. The beach is great and also pools. I recommend it.

Found my "Go To" Vacation Spot!

I don't ordinarily write reviews because I feel experiences are all relative and I haven't been wowed by a vacation spot in many years. However... This resort offered everything I could ever want from a Vacation. I (48), traveled with my father (81) and his girlfriend (79). I stayed solo in my own room and I always felt safe. The room was spacious and had comfortable beds with nice linens and everything you could want to be comfortable. If something isn't there just ask. Walk ways t [... read more]o the pool and beach were always enjoyable with a wonderland of exquisite trees, bushes and flowers. The beach is incredible with white sand and clear blue water. Many days I walked along the shoreline for as long as I wanted, always feeling safe, relaxed and happy. No one ever around harassing you to buy something. It's not a massive resort but I did get in a lot of walking, which was great-- at least 6K steps a day! The food was fantastic for the most part. Could always find something delicious and healthy to eat. My favourite was the fresh fish, pizza, pasta, home made bread and cheeses, assorted vegetables, legumes and fruit. They had chicken, beef and lamb which were all tasty. I can not believe that anyone could have a problem with the food here. They cook with real ingredients, minimal oils and salt and I never had to reach for the salt and pepper shakers. I didn't like the butter or margarine so I just stuck a piece of cheese in a bun, or they do have oil at the salad bar. The ice cream is the best I've ever tasted. So fresh and creamy!! The service at all of the al a carte restaurants is fantastic. Beautiful happy people making sure you are happy and satisfied. Tip: If you are feeling snacky between 4-6, they have a Cafe in the lobby with delicious sandwiches. Atmosphere was Cuban Casual elegance. Not flashy on first impressions, but when you sit and take it all in, it's very impressive. I felt the atmosphere had a Cuban/Spanish flair with thatch roofs, pretty windows, light fixtures and tiles, open air areas, gorgeous bamboo woods and architecture. I absolutely loved all of the live music, and pop up bands throughout playing beautiful Cuban music. Always a delightful suprise popping up somewhere! Considering the traffic, the resort was ridiculously clean throughout. The service was among the best I've ever experienced at an all inclusive. Cubans are warm, genuine and helpful people. I was amazed at their ability to smile and serve so efficiently day after day. The bar staff especially, were incredibly efficient. Various drinks were served in literally seconds, and the bar was always clean. I loved how they always greeted myself and everyone with a warm way of saying hello or friendly hand gesture. They actually remembered what people were drinking and always made you feel special and taken care of. Quite a feat with the number of people they serve day after day. A Special shout out to Cesar and Mandy at the lobby bar! The shows are so fun and the entertainers are so talented. They really take you away to a fantasy land when they perform. Some of the shows are geared towards children but don't miss out on the 80's night, or dance shows. The magic show was great as well. So much fun to watch. I did make use of the Spa for a Pedicure and Massage. The pedicure was nice, gentle and effective (my toes still look very pretty). The massage with reflexology was truly the best I ever had. I will go again when I go back. I've been to many all-inclusives throughout Mexico, Dominican, Jamaica, Aruba. I can confidently say Cubans are the 'coolest', most gentle, beautiful (inside and out) and hospitable people I have ever encountered. I met many fantastic people at the resort from Europe, UK, South America, Canada, many of them repeat visitors. I can certainly see why. The only thing I would change, is to make it an adults only. The stay made for a busy time but the kids were pretty cute and well behaved. TIPS: I was feeling a little stressed about the tipping situation. Thankfully, I didn't feel pressure from anyone to tip, but when we did it was so graciously and genuinely appreciated. Mosquitoes: Not a problem for me and they usually love me. I did try to remember to spray my legs and feet, day and night though. Unfortunate things happen on Vacations. I am still (hopefully) waiting for my luggage to come home.
