Great resort!

Great resort! Staff was wonderful, beach was fantastic. Food was great with a good variety. Room and balcony were very spacious. Jazz band was great! Overall wonderful resort that we would highly recommend!

This resort was just wonderful, the grounds were so well maintained and everything well kept and beautiful! The beaches were spectacular and the service was absolutely great!The staff was so accommodating and pleasant, I absolutely loved this resort and would recommend it to anyone!

Amazing services

I did really Enjoy my stay at the Resort . the water was amazing and clear . the rooms was clean but i advice you to bring some sheets with you or towels because i felt it was not clean and i felt that my body was itching from the bed cover . apart from that it was fine . Regarding the entertainment i saw better but it was good . there is no place for disco it was at the snacks bar . The food !! for breakfast i kept eating eggs for 7 days .lunch and dinner was not bad because there was  [... read more]variety, but the sweets the only thing i could eat was ice cream because the insects was flying around the cakes and sweets. the over all experiments was 7%. Really bad experience

If something happens to you on this resort - you are on your own. I got my kneecap displaced while swimming in the ocean. Paramedics on the beach are pathetic and didn't know what to do. Since they didn't have medical stretchers, they have used sunbed instead to get me to the hotel. No painkillers or medical equipment for the first aid on the resort. Ambulance had no gas to come to the resort and I was forced to go by the regular car with a lot of pain to the closest medical center where ambulan [... read more]ce had a gas...Resort management were more worried about the extra towels that they have provided rather than me and my injury. They just wanted to move me out as quickly as possible to hide from other tourists. Unfortunately, didn't get manager name (Tall lady in the glasses). When I have arrived to Matanzas hospital it was just a nightmare experience as there is no painkillers or crutches either (i got a piece of lumber from before with nails in it instead, I am not joking). After all this nightmare I got back and on the following day management called me to see if I am ok and to follow up if I have returned the towel...is it a joke? I was "lucky" enough and got a proper crutch rented and on the final day security guard came to take it away from me as soon as he has seen the bus arriving, didn't even let me get in. And the last drop - Westjet representatives who should of done special reservation for me because of my injury for the airplane and who have confirmed that everything is fine and has been taken care of, didn't actually do anything and I got regular seats and has been suffering all the way back to Toronto. Go there on your own risk. I do not recommend Blau Varadero and do not recommend WestJet as your tour provider. Really bad experience. #BlauVaradero #WestJet #WestJet Vacations #StayAwayBlauVaradero

Amazing resort!

It's an excellent hotel with original layout. Rooms are comfortable with spacious balconies, air conditioning works well. Common areas are well designed. Food is good with international variety. Beach is magnificent.

Blau Varadero - a very, very nice resort!

The grounds of the Blau are beautiful & well-maintained. The inside of the building is lovely as well and the bar area, activity area & upper floor restaurant are very nice and spacious. My room was terrific. The staff were all very nice & helpful. And the activities were lots of fun. The food & drinks were very good, especially at the Palma Real restaurant - extra special.

Worth a Visit

I hadn't planned on vacationing yet given what these Countries have suffered the last 3 years but I'm so glad I had a change of heart. We flew Sunwing the day after a big storm and through no fault of their own, were delayed 6 hours! Pearson wouldn't give them a runway to get to Waterloo Regional. Frustrating to say the least given this took away from our first day by arriving at Blau at midnight as opposed to 3:30 p.m. The flight was uneventful. The resort is stunning. They have vines hangin [... read more]g from the top of the building (14 floors) to the bottom ending in an indoor garden of sorts with plenty of greenery and small palms. The lobby bar is very unique as well. PROS: Spacious main floor with different sections for different preferences. You can sit in quiet and play a game or sit and listen to live piano or otherwise calming music or sit in a place with louder upbeat Caribbean music. They have a games space as well. Not huge but there's a ping pong table & pool table. Outdoors is beautifully maintained. Everything is close by or small 5 minute walk away. The beach is clear and breathtaking with loungers awaiting any guest at any given time of day. They have beds as well but some are in need of levelling. NOTE: take travel toilet paper... washrooms outside your room seldom have any. The a-la-cart is as good as any high end restaurant you'll dine in at home. I'm very cautious about eating meat when I travel but our dinner was fabulous and I finished my plate. The rooms are very spacious and cheerfully decorated. Very comfortable beds (soft mattress) with plenty of pillows. Ample storage space for clothes NOTE: Take a plug adapter.... you'll need it! The nightly shows were very entertaining. Our favorite was the water ballet one evening. CONS: Obviously the food. I generally live on pasta the whole week and Juan made my dinner to perfection every night. Only issue, it was only spaghetti noodles available. My husband enjoyed the selection at the buffet though. The snack bar leaves much to be desired. It's closest to the beach. Most the time, your option was a ham & cheese sandwich. Seldom they had pastries or fruit. Main restaurant wouldn't use the coffee machine at breakfast. We're coffee drinkers and having a good cup of coffee is appreciated but we had to walk to the snack bar and bring one back most mornings because the pool bar wasn't open yet. I will definitely pay this resort another visit. If you go to Cuba, you MUST remember, you're not at home. Things here aren't as easy to come by as you're used to. If you want all the comforts and conveniences of home, then you're best to stay there. These people work with what they have and work hard to make your experience a joyful one.

Wonderful holiday

Spent 1week at Blau Varadero with upgrade to select room. We had room 1230 with an amazing ocean view. The room was spacious and clean with a daily stocked fridge. Food was typical Cuban selection with always something available with the exception of fries. The a la cart dinners were very good. Entertainment was enjoyable with live Cuban band on some nights. Beach was simply amazing with 2 to 3 mile white sandy beach to walk with crystal clear water. Good value and would recommend.

Sunwing horrible

We traveled this summer with Sunwing 3 times , May to Cancun , June Punta Cana and August to Varadero. The worst.of the worse . Airport staff so rude , customer service the lowest we ever seen. We do not and we will not recommend or travel with Sunwing.

Personally was not impressed at all.

I love going to Cuba, I find the people really nice and well educated which makes it fun to interact. The staff did not disappoint on that aspect. I never expected much from the food but at the Blau, it was the worse I have ever eaten to the point that I would skip meals. Left overs were served repeatedly and the food had NO Flavour. The shows are not only sub standard but also badly promoted. We never knew what was going on. Really nice resort

We were upgreaded to the ocean view room, we had a beautiful view of the pool, grounds and oceon. Resort has been well kept. Staff are very friendly. The food and drinks were fair. We always found something to eat and drink. There is no longer the Tourist peso, for tiping they now prefer canadian dollars, no coins!

Nice resort

Nice resort. Overall well maintained. Some improvement may be needed (water in the washrooms by the pool) . Staff were friendly. Providing wifi without the use of short term voucher (a hassle) can improve a more pleasant stay. Staff used masks and guests were obliged to use the mask in restaurants.

Nice Resort

I recently spent 10 days at this resort. The Blau is a beach front Varadero resort, pleasant grounds, spacious pool (but the jets were not working), the beach is long with white sand ( most days were windy and the flag was yellow). The room I stayed in was upgraded as part of the "Select Concept" with ocean view balcony, comfortable king size bed, hot water pressure fine, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and mini fridge. Ingredients rarely looked fresh and often the buffet looked much recycled from one day to the next. Dinner at the A la carte restaurant was a bit better, you could only eat there if you had purchased the " Select". Then again, it would be only 3 times per week, not every day. The wines were good. The drinks at the various bars were passable and the "Chill out Bar " was disappointing. Could not enjoy a decently prepared pina colada. The staff were courteous and most were attentive and good at their job. All in all, I found the Blau did not live up to my expectations, and I believe I will not return to this resort. I had purchased the "Select" but 50% of the advertised items were not offered. When I enquired as to why this was the case I could not get clear answers - a reflection on poor hotel management.

Great vacation!!!

Hola!!! My wife and I had a great time in Blau Varadero and would highly recommend to anyone. We are planning to go again next year. Staff are very friendly and polite, there’s always lounge chairs at the pool and beach no matter what time of the day. We enjoyed the pina caladas, mojitos and cappuccinos 😜

Return to my second home

It was my 13th times at the Blau Varadero and it was, like usual, excellent! The staff knows my name and they are like family. They know my preferences. I would like to try other resorts but why should I change a place I love? And I would be probably disappointed because at the Blau, I receive many things I wouldn’t have somewhere else.

One of the Best

Great resort, very well kept, and clean. We have been to Cuba about 8 times to 6 different resorts and this is better than most. Food is always an issue but it's passable. Beach is amazing and I highly recommend taking a taxi from the airport to avoid the bus transfer, much nicer. We paid $40 CDN. Don't change money at the Casa de Cambio, look for a lifeguard or someone with a fanny pack near the beach. We changed at 60-1 April, 2022.

Beautiful resort

As usual the Blau did not disappoint!!! I've been going to cuba for many years, the blau is top 3 resorts. If you love beaches, beautiful people and amazing bread, pizza, the best black beans and rice...then book the Blau. Also, covid 19 rules are followed. All workers inside and out wearing masks, and everyone has been at least triple Vax, it's the law in cuba, keeping their people safe.

Amazing resort

Hotel is clean, the room had new mattresses . Food was OK as always. The staff is #1, even through these Covid times all stuff was helpful, and understanding. Hotel seemed only quarter full, mostly Cubans but Canadians were started to build in numbers. Didn't meet any Europeans yet. We had an other good vacation in Blau.

My second home!

It was my 11th time at the Blau and 7th for my boyfriend. It was amazing same it was my first time. The staff recognizes you and knows your name. It’s like my second family. This time we were at the reopening on Dec 3rd. The hotel was pretty empty but we had good time and met amazing people. The food was good. The staff takes seriously the COVID sanitary rules. Our luggages was disinfected when we arrived. Same thing with the tables, chair and lounge chairs. All the staff were the mask and  [... read more]face shield. We were feeling secured. They are doing the PCR tests at the hotel and get the result in 24 hours. The beach was cleaned and they enlarged it. I also want to thank Walter, the new manager of the hotel. He’s humble because he told me that it’s not him who makes the Blau appreciate by the client but it’s the amazing staff! Et Walter parle français! I am a big fan of the Blau and encourage people to book their next vacations at this fabulous resort.
