Great resort!

My experience at this hotel was awesome. The rooms and eating areas were kept very clean.The grounds, garden areas and beaches spotless. The entertainment and food amazing. The staff very pleasant. I was never bored. The excursion trip I took to the Blue Mountain was very informative and entertaining. Beautiful scenery!

Great Resort

We recently returned from Riu Ocho Rios! We had an amazing time for the most part at this hotel. The properties size(large and sprawling,) lack of ease with placement of elevators and placement of restaurants was difficult. Also food not being replenished at the buffet was at times an issue. Go early to eat or you may be disappointed! Quality of food was great just not a lot of it at certain times! If you have any physical challenges this is perhaps not the hotel for you. Results promised within 48 hrs did not always happen, some not receiving results a few hours before their flight. Service was great, people friendly and ocean was gorgeous! All in all we met some amazing people, made new friends and had a blast on this holiday!

Nice resort

Very clean,nice pools.beach was nice. Our room phone not working upon arrival, 3 people up to see about it never fixed.Had to walk to lobby which is a distance away to get towels and face cloths which were not replaced on a couple of locations. Ice machine was near our room stated leaking over floor on Wednesday and was never fixed was a hazard to people walking in hall they were aware of situation towels down absorbing water and an orange cone to warn people. Still a beautiful resort with amazing qualities!

The resort was still amazing as it was two years ago. Amazing staff, food, drinks,entertainment and beach. However it is now a family resort and if you don't want crying babies or toddlers having tantrums this is not for the mature adult. If you have children and want a family environment by all means. Wonderful water park added. My next resort will be adults only.

Riu Ocho Rios. Exceptional Resort

This resort is clean, great atmosphere, attentive courteous staff, grounds well kept, food is excellent lots of variety. I would recommended this resort to others, and I am looking forward to going again.

Fantastic resort

very nice resort ,staff were very friendly, well maintained and easy to find your way around the resort , very nice beach with lots of lounge chairs available , food was very good at all dining locations , bar staff very friendly and eager to serve you , room was well maintained and cleaning staff did a good job room was always cleaned when we returned in the afternoon .

Amazing!

My husband and I stayed at the Riu from Jan 6th to Jan 13th. This was our first tropical vacation and it did not disapoint! The hotel was beautiful. It was very big and expect to do a lot of walking, but its all worth it. There were 4 a la carte restaurants and a buffet. We tried all of the restaurants and liked them all. The french cuisine place was unique but very tasty. The italian was half buffet (salad and appetizer bar and desserts) while the main courses were served. The steakhouse w [... read more]as delicious. We went there twice. The japanese restaurant was a buffet which was disappointing but it was really good food. You do not make reservations but if you line up around 6 it is quick to get in. They have a buzzer system too for those who do have to wait. The pools and grounds are very clean. The staff were all friendly, even the ones trying to sell you drugs (which is common in Jamaica). The entertainment staff was stellar. We loved all the night shows. They have a foam pool party and a beach party each week. The jerk chicken hut near the party pool is delicious. My only "conplaint" is the long ride from the airport. I would recommend getting a private transfer so you can go straight there,otherwise you are stopping at numerous resorts on the way which takes at least 2 hours. I give this resort a 5/5!

Great Time

Enjoyed our vacation to Riu Ocho Rios. We did not enjoy check-in as there was a full bus load arriving all at the same time. We were all tired after our travels and this portion of the vacation could have been organized in a better way. Many people were not offered assistance to their rooms and found this very confusing. They had lots of selection and one night we even had lobster tails, plenty of other seafood offered. The sportsbar made excellent fresh ground coffee and we had them add rum cream, but their snack food was really terrible. The hotdogs rolled in a warmer all day and the nachos were non-existant. They definately need to put some effort into the 24 hour snacks. Staff in dining area made our dining enjoyable. The orientation wasn't helpful as it seemed to be promoting excursions rather than giving info about the resort. We would have appreciated more info regarding what was happening at the resort at various times and where everything was located. The staff did their best to make announcements from the pool area and beach. We had a very nice clean room and the grounds were beautiful. Our room keys stopped working a day early as did other friends rooms, and had to be reset at the reception area. The staff were very attentive and helpful, polite and friendly. This resort seemed great for all ages. There was quite a bit of walking if you are going to beach and back to your room or to meals. There is a very nice kids play area. One more note, there are no local vendors on the beach or resort to bother anyone. Overall, a very nice place to vacation.

Great Resort

January 2020 - been there 2x and never disappointed... staff and food are excellent not to mention all the beautiful pools... the weather was not a 100% very very windy so unfortunately could not enjoy the beach with the strong waves and sand blowing... but that is something out of everyones control!

Nice resort

The hotel and facilities are very nice, we had a family room with 5 people and the only negative with the room is single bathroom and shower. Food was very tasty and many options in the buffet. The Al A Carte restaurants have great food but poor management in terms of booking a reservation because it is first come first serve so be there at least half hour before it opens or be on a waiting list for second seating. Also house wine is not very nice if you enjoy wines and no options to purchase pr [... read more]emium wine. Evenings can be a little boring because they close pools at 6pm and evening entertainment was limited and sometimes bad, like kareoke. They could improve on evening entertainment. Staff were very friendly. They do not have an ATM on site and cannot give you cash from credit card so bring enough cash if needed. They will exchange common currency into Jamaican currency.

Fantastic Resort

My family and I stayed at Riu Ocho Rios for seven days and we had a fantastic time. The atmosphere, food, staff, facilities and various activities were second to none. Over the years, my family and I have been to several Caribbean resorts and Riu is overall the best by far. Since our return home, I have and will continue to recommend Riu Ocho Rios to our friends, family and any/all acquaintances. Wonderful staff

Beautiful resort. The rooms are kept very clean, the housekeeping was extremely thorough and found the perfect balance between keeping my things organized and maintaining boundaries with my personal belongings. The staff was extremely welcoming and the entertainment at night was very good. The pool and beach areas were also kept very clean. There’s a separate pool in a secluded area of the resort for kids so while kids are allowed in the other pools it’s not overwhelming. Ocho Rios is a little bit of a drive from the airport, just over an hour but it’s a short drive away from the dolphin cove and Dunn’s river falls. The food was absolutely amazing! Zero complaints. There’s a variety of restaurants to choose from and the buffet consistently has your favourites if you’re not adventurous but offers other different meats and proteins to choose from each day.

Super fantastic resort

The overall hotel, facilities, staff, food,location was excellent. I'm really looking forward to a revisit in the near future. I would most definitely recommend it to family and friends. Being there was exactly what I needed

Great family resort

I was more than satisfied with all aspects of the resort. I visited with three generations of the family, there was something great there for everyone. My young grand-children were particularly happy with the various activities available there. The adults also had a wonderful vacation. The nightly entertainment was excellent.Alic

Beautiful resort!

My boyfriend and I just returned from a beautiful trip to this resort. We enjoyed our time there, the beach was amazing, food was very good. The entertainment at night was great, probably the best I’ve seen yet at any resort. Only complaint we had was the rooms are a bit outdated, the bed wasn’t very comfortable, tolerable but not great by any means. Our “King” bed was 2 doubles beds put together. It was a bit pricey to go here, so a nicer room would be expected. We also arrived at the r [... read more]esort at around noon, and we weren’t able to check into our room until 4:30 pm as they kept saying it wasn’t ready, it was kind of frustrating as after a long flight we just wanted to get into the room and get settled in. but other then that it’s a great place and I would recommend it!

Great Resort

The Food was really good, a lot better than I expected. The rooms could have been a little better TV wise, but I wasn’t there to watch much TV. Beach was fun, great time playing volleyball. Staff was friendly got the hockey game on for us Canadians in the sports bar

Riu Ocho rios

Hotel was nice is going through a Reno shortly so will be spectacular in sept 2019. Staff were friendly beach was awesome and had scuba onsite and close to the dolphins cove.. 1hr and a half commute from the Montego Bay airport but location is worth the trip

Great Resort

The highlight of this resort was being able to go snorkelling right in front of the hotel. Spectacular. I can not wait to see what this resort looks like once the renovations are complete in the fall.

Great resort

Overall great time. Beds could be better. Hard as rocks and seem very dated. Would go back for sure! Beach was awesome. No trouble with a 3 year old. Al la carte restaurants do not need reservations. Staff very friendly. Great vibe.

Adequate

Dated, needs work. Power issues and 2 mornings in a row no hot water. Entertainment not up to snuff. If all you care about is never ending drinks and an abundance of just ok food served buffet style this is the place for you. If you are looking for consistent delicious hot food that is served to you go somewhere else.
