A better holiday once we paid for the upgrade

Booked a basic AI room for a last minute getaway, arriving Feb 2023. The resort looks beautiful from the front driveway, with an awe-inspiring view through the front lobby. Very impressive. The room we were initially given was a bit dingy, dark, and smelled damp. No view. We asked reception about an upgrade, which was available, for an extra charge, the next day. So we stayed in the dingy room one night, then moved to a MUCH better room on day 2. The a la carte restaurants were good - the As [... read more]ian restaurant was our favorite. Gotta get up early, though, to make a reservation at reception! The buffet was alright for breakfast, but only basic at any time of day. The pool canteen for lunch has the best fish tacos! A must have! Getting a sunbed at the pool or beach is near impossible, unless you get up at 4am and put your belongings on them. And even then, other hotel guests moved our things to other beds on two separate days. I guess they were more important people than us lol. The employees working the lobby and the beach bars and the restaurants are all very helpful and welcoming. Be sure to bring your pesos for tipping! The staff really do deserve it - they worked really hard to make sure we were comfortable. And we were!

Better than the reviews suggest

We were worried after reading the reviews, but pleasantly suprised. I wouldn't book this resort again, but if you've booked don't worry it's a decent place and we had a blast. It's a smaller resort than we were used to, but was family friendly and the staff were great. The buffet was just okay but definitely not bad like the reviews suggest. Our only real issue was we booked a "Tropical view" that was off a loading dock and covered in insulation. They moved us to the 6th floor and everyth [... read more]ing after that was great. But if they didn't this review would be very different.

Resort was very good

The resort was good the place was clean and staff were friendly. The booking went as planned no complaints. We would stay here again if we went to Nuevo Vallarta we will also tell others of this place.

Could make many changes.

I will start with the positive: The room was large well kept and after the first day of requesting a time that we would like the room serviced and of course a tip to the maid each day all went well. The A la Carte restaurants were very good and service in most cases was very good. The negative however was quite negative No: 1 the beach was not easy to walk on and of course being on the Pacific the ocean was very rough.The worse part of this hotel and probably the same with nearby hotels is the [... read more] reserving of the pool and beach long chairs. At 7 am 98 % of all chairs that would be in sun were reserved with towels,shoes magazines etc and by noon probably 50% were occupied. I could mention a lot about the Mexican Mafia but space is not available on the review. All and all we gave over the 2 weeks 2800.00 pesos in tips.

Tout d'abord, j'aimerais indiquer que nous étions très anxieuses avant notre départ, suite à de nombreux commentaires négatifs lus sur les différents sites. Mes seuls bémols concernent le buffet et la réservation des chaises (piscines et plage). En ce concerne le buffet, pour ceux qui recherchent avant tout une expérience culinaire, je ne pense pas qu'il s'agisse du bon hôtel. Mais, bien que le buffet était limité, on arrive quand même à trouver de quoi se satisfaire. Et effectivement, c'est très mexicain. Si vous aimez c'est parfait pour vous, sinon, c'est plus difficile. En ce qui concerne les chaises de piscine, ceci ne concerne pas seulement cet hôtel, mais je trouve qu'il est indécent de réserver une chaise pour toute la journée, alors qu'elle n'est occupée qu'une heure ou deux. Cette pratique généralisée devrait être interdite. Vous utilisez la chaise ou pas. Point à la ligne. Si vous ne l'utilisez pas, vous la laissez à quelqu'un qui s'en sert. Les chaises étaient réservées à partir de 6h00 le matin (parfois plus tôt). Très difficile d'en trouver. Heureusement que je suis une lève-tôt, j'ai pu faire mon choix, mais malgré tout, je trouve dommage de laisser des chaises vides si longtemps. Il y a beaucoup de mexicains qui viennent en vacances à l'hôtel et personnellement, je trouve que ça rend l'expérience de voyage et de dépaysement encore plus intéressante. Les chambres étaient propres, confortables et bien entretenues régulièrement. Nous avons grandement apprécié notre séjour et nous y retournerions sans problème. Merci beaucoup.

Krystal Grand ish

Pros Food is pretty good, no they don't have 10 restos and a million choices but what they have is pretty good and there is something for everyone. Drinks are decent, good selection of liquors ect. There are servers at the pool that come by pretty regularly. Actually probably one of the best resorts I have been to with pool service. Pool area is great. Main pool, adult pool and an infinity pool (has the swim up bar). Lots of sun shelves, chairs in the pool, umbrellas, good mix of full  [... read more]sun and shade. Didn't find the classic "chair saving" was too bad. If you were out at 10 you could probably still get a spot. Hotel is attached to an oxxo, a pharmacy, a little shop and a bike rental place. The hotel will not tell you that but if you walk out and down the main stairs you are there. The city bus (22 pesos) to PV runs every 30-45 mins outside the hotel. Cons OK I know you're on vacation but the wifi is really terrible. We were only on the 5th floor overlooking the main area and had wifi maybe 10% of the time in the room. Lobby and pool area are ok but can still vary between really good and no service. Video chats home are spotty at best. I would not count on this wifi if you need to. You can definitely hear things next to you and people going down the hall but it's not really that bad. I never really found myself disturbed by it but alot of the night activities are right in the main pool area and you will hear those well into the night. If you want to sleep earlier than 10 ish, bring earplugs. Sometimes there are weddings and they have fireworks that will scare you half to death but are nice to watch. Beach is pretty nice but there are people selling horse rides up and down it all day which is fine, they just go on their way if you say no. But there was ample amounts of horse droppings getting knocked around in and out with the waves..

Budget Hotel

It was good value for the money but lots of issues like horse feces on the beach no hot water in shower, no adult entertainment, caters to children but beach was nice, adult pool was fun, grill and Asian restaurant were good

Good value with issues

The grounds on this resort are beautiful. This resort is definitely for families . There is no entertainment at night for adults. Our room looked out on to the ocean and what a view! Food in the restaurants were pretty good. Seem like the resort was short staffed . Sometimes Horses on the beach left feces. Good for what we paid

Great resort

It s a nice hotel , the staff is fantastic from the chamber made to the valet. I would like to give a special thanks to the 3 concierges Brenda, Josephina and Amirali that treated me like a king, made my reservations for the restaurants so painless. The grounds are well kept, there is pretty much always beach chairs available through out the day. The only thing i found would of been nicer is a bigger choice of pastries at lunch time otherwise everything is great. Very happy and will be back again.

The resort Krystal Grand was a great vacation. The hotel was so clean, the rooms were always clean and comfortable, the property was well kept and maintained and the food and drink areas were impressive. The food and and drink were always fresh and clean. We did not worry for one moment.

No complaints from us

Everything was exactly as we expected except the room was a little dated. However, it was very comfortable and the view was amazing. The staff are the most friendly and helpful we have ever had. There were always lots of chairs with umbrellas on the beach which is important to us because we like shade.

Amazing resort

Grounds kept clean, meals were very good. Booking for them was a bit of a chore having to be in a early line up to book for only one day ahead booking. We never knew what the dress codes were either. Other then that all good.

Beautiful resort with amazing food but limited entertainment

My wife and I spent one week at Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta in mid-April to celebrate our honeymoon. We were housed on the 4th floor, in the main building. Seems like most rooms in the main building have a partial view of the ocean. I wish to dedicate a special shout-out to the Aileen (the manager) and Patricia (concierge) for making our stay a memorable one! Pros: - Very clean and well maintained - Beautiful architecture including infinity pool - Rain showers in each room! - Main buffe [... read more]t was right by the beach/ocean, so you can enjoy incredible views during meals - The Resort was small, so regardless of which building you were allocated to, everything is within walkable distance even for those with limited mobility - Food was clean and delicious, especially snack bar (fried fish tacos + cheesy nachos were the bomb) and the A La Carte (Grill & Italian restaurants were the best, followed by Japanese, and least favorite was the Mexican). I would advise skipping the Mexican unless you’re really curious. We ate at the buffet daily and did not have any GI issues, despite eating freshly cut fruits or cold cuts - All hotel staff were diligent about COVID protocols and were wearing masks, which gives us confidence that management takes this seriously Cons: - Guests left their towels overnight on the beach/pool chairs for the entire week to reserve those spots, which is selfish and inconsiderate to say the least. - No money exchangers / banks on-site, which makes it difficult to exchange money to tip hotel staff - Have to get up at 6:30AM to make A La Carte reservations (especially the Grill & the Italian) EVERY morning, unless you’re an Altitude Member (in which case you can book 2 days in advance). There were at least 30-40 seats that were empty during our entire dining service, which was unfortunate as individuals likely booked but didn’t show. - Very limited entertainment (No live performances in the evening, no access to water sports like kayak or catamaran, no access to board games or sports) - Access to the Games room (Ping Pong, Table Pool, Darts, XBOX & Playstation) were limited only to Adolescents under 18 years old. - The waves were very strong in the week that we were there, and ocean was not clear enough to snorkel Recommendations to Resort improvements: - Please have an on-site money exchanger (even if it is small), so that your hotel staff can receive more tips - Please have someone clear out all beach towels left overnight, so that there are no “reservations” of beach/pool chairs for the whole period. The $25 cost of each Beach towel lost will surely have some Guests thinking twice about trying to reserve these chairs - Please limit each hotel guest to booking the Grill and Italian once during each 7-day stay, so that other Guests can get to experience it too - Please grant Adults access to Ping Pong and Table pool too - Please provide some board games where Guests can loan these out and return them for entertainment

Great place!

We truly enjoyed the view from our room, overlooking the main centre area of the complex & further the ocean. Meals were very good & the beverages were refreshing. We missed not having nightly adult entertainment but found things to keep us busy. Covid may have still been an issue. Looking forward to our next getaway. Thank you Karol for your attention, prompt responses & making this trip happen for us.

Beautiful Resort

We stayed at the Krystal Grand April 5th-12th, 2022 The resort is beautiful I loved the size of the hotel, the options of the pools, adult only, family pool and activity pool that was a infinity facing the ocean. The beach you could walk for miles and walk into town easily on the beach or a safe path. Workers were friendly but still understaffed, breakfast buffet had lots of options, lunch BBQ was great and 2 of the three restaurants were great. If night life is what you want this is not you [... read more]r hotel there is zero entertainment I would have appreciated something some music or a band and a nice area to sit at night. There was just a sky bar that had seating for about 10 people but if you don’t care about that you will enjoy it and I would recommend it for a nice place to stay, coffee bar was good. Not sure if the lack of entertainment was due to Covid but bringing something and somewhere to sit at night in lobby would be a great addition.

Never ever ever again

I would never stay here again, nor suggest to a friend. The food was inedible, the music was loud and obnoxious, there was never enough loungers or spaces for everyone (people would get up at 7am to put a towel on a chair to save for the whole day), the drinks where watered down or always tasted like aspartame, and the room….. oh my goodness the room. Worst room I have ever seen. Everything was broken and dirty. Rooms never clean properly, king bed with a fitted sheet too small (and gross matt [... read more]ress under) if you had the hot water on then a loud noise and shaking occurred, had a coffee maker for the room but wasn’t able to get coffee for it (just remove this then) patio furniture was so dirty it stained a dress when I sat down on it. Also so far from town you were just trapped on this crappy resort. Only good thing was the people working. They were lovely and helpful. Not their fault their employer is running such a dump.

Great resort

This hotel has great service, all workers are very friendly, it is easy to book and pre book each day for all restaurant. the concierges are extremely on the ball. the ground are kept real clean.Free WIFI everywhere is absolutely great and free bar fridge and safe are great features.

Well run resort

The concierge (Gilberto) was an exceptional problem solver. He provided several options for the ArriveCAN mandated PCR test. We opted for the “in room” test ($145 USD per person) with a 12 hour e-mailed result. The test took 10 min. Costs for the tests varied from $100 USD to $200 USD per person, depending upon who provided the test and where the test was performed. Beauty resort

Beautiful large room overlooking the 3 pools and ocean The Grill restaurant was excellent On the 10th floor is the Sky Bar with a stunning view of the sunset every night .Food at buffet was normal but at the beach bar everyday was Wings Ribs Fish tacos Everything you could ask for for a lunch Drinks were premium also Smaller resort but very nice Close walk to town along the beach also I would reccomend this hotel Thanks again

Amazing resort!!!

We had a fantastic time at this resort! The food was excellent! The service was amazing! The pools and the beach were absolutely terrific. It’s well taken care of by an excellent staff. Great entertainment every night!
