Great Resort

The hotel is beautiful kept super clean and the staff are so friendly. The downside is there is not much to do at night. Night club opens late and the piano bar is only for an hour! The rooms are damp and a bit smelly! The beds are super comfy! Bring your snorkel gear. There are plenty of fish and sea turtles to be seen.

Great Resort, pools & beaches are lovely

The grounds were great, very clean, staff very good. Food very good, lots of chooses. Great nightly entainment, and things to do. Only problem is I found it damp, could use a better hvac system, but otherwise had a great time.

Mostly great experience!

This is our second visit to Barcelo Maya. We loved the resort last year and decided to come back again this year. We had a nice stay but there were few issues as well. To start with the positives, the resort is very big and the grounds are beautiful. There are so many places to walk and yo get a feeling that you are in a small village rather than just a hotel. We love that it had so any amenities and there is always something to do. The rooms are spacious and kept clean. The food is pretty good  [... read more]and there are number of a la carte restaurants which are quite good. The beach is amazing. Probably one of the nicest beaches on the Mayan Riviera. In regards to what could be better, there was a lack of beach loungers and we had to wake up early in order to reserve a lounger. People, including ourselves, ended up dragging loungers from the pool area to the beach. Second, there is a lack of small spoons. We had to ask for one almost every meal. Easily remedied by buying more. And lastly, Barcelo Maya caters to families and elderly and this is one of the reason we enjoyed the resort and feel safe. However, this year there was a very large group (over 100) university students from Spain that arrived near the end of our stay. They were very loud all through the night and we didn't get any sleep that last 2 days. We called the reception to address the issue but nothing was done.

Very clean

4 resorts in one. Disappointed that we were downgraded from the one we selected to the resort in the total opposite end which limited activities I planned. It’s a long walk if you’re able to make it. The buffet food was great. No beach service. Not enough beach or pool chairs available unless you “claimed” them at 630 am. Also there is not enough a la carte restaurants for the size of the resort and I’m sure resort was not at full capacity. I wouldn’t expect to get into the 4 allotted especiall [... read more]y during peak times. We managed to get in after complaining. We were told that even with premium package there is no guarantees.

Had a great time

Everything was great, food, beach, etc. the only issue was the maya mall, where there is a carousel that is so loud it’s hard to be there. I wanted to buy jewellery but couldn’t stay there. I actually cancelled a restaurant reservation due to the fact I knew I’d have a headache again if I went back there. Why is it so loud? The poor employees must be suffering.

Great place

We enjoyed our week complaint free I would recommend to friends Looks like a good place for children Pool was clean and there was lots to do if you didn’t want to just sit by the pool we will go back again next year

2 nd time there!

I have travelled to many resorts all over the Caribbean… but this resort by far stands out… enough to return a 2 nd time! So clean/food is good/staff is wonderful But above all it is stunningly beautiful!

Excellente

tres bel endroit la plage est agreable quelques petits cailloux sur le bord mais l eau est chaude les vagues sont fortes mais au large jusqu a la taille elles sont tres agreable.La nouriture est tres divercifiee et tres bonne il y en a pour tout les gouts les resto a la carte sont excellent il y en a plusieurs mais vous devez les reserve rapidement sinon les places sont apres 9 heures pm ce qui est un peu tard pour moi.Le service est excellent le personnels sympathique et respectueux.Les chambre [... read more]s sont propres avec toutes les commoditees .Le seul hic c est le matelas qui n est pas parfait et les draps ne sont pas a mon gout ,j y retourne le mois prochain et j apporte mes propres draps.L an prochain j aimerais aller au riviera maya qui est adultes puisque tu peut manger dans les 6 Barcello et la plage est plus douce a marcher ci le prix est competitif au tropical qui est mon preferre

Resort was good!

Overall the resort was good. However, a few things would improve the resort: Rooms needs to be upgraded, Hard to find chairs on the beach unless you go out at 6am, Chairs were old and broken, The grill food was not very fresh as it would be sitting for a while, Other than disco which catered to young adults, no other entertainment for adults. Theatre show same old as every other resort. Staff was very friendly and hard working. Beach was the best part of the resort.

Beautiful Beach

Hotel was great, very clean and just the basics. Food was good, staff was wonderful. Needed more staff behind the bar. Beach and pool were top notch! White sand and turquoise blue water, can't asked for anything more. Word of advice: if you are going to the cenote's across the street, please don't take a cab ($50U.S.). They are literally across the street.

Stay at Barcelo Maya Colonial

Second stay at this resort. Quality on second stay wasn’t as good as first trip. Food and times offered at a La carte restaurants was biggest disappointment. Dinners only available at 9:30 even though we went to book within an hour of checking in.

Last time

This was our second time at Barcelo tropical. We again did not get the rooms we hoped for we were travelling as a family and we didn’t even get in the same building let alone the room we want we were on the third floor, which gives you a lovely view from your balcony of a concrete wall. We were located right near the theatre where the entertainment takes place meaning you couldn’t go to sleep till 1112 or 1 o’clock in the morning, depending on when they stop the entertainment, we had to call dow [... read more]n to get coffee delivered to the room because for some reason the maid didn’t leave it. The ground of the hotel are beautiful. The pool is perfect. The beach is lovely. It was December that we went in extremely hard to get a seat near the pool or anywhere else for that matter the buffet is always great. The restaurants are mediocre to terrible except for the Japanese restaurant. It’s a good 45 minute bus ride to the hotel from the airport if you check in late in the evening you definitely will not get the room you want.

Great vacation!

Thank you Tripcentral and personally Natasha Spencer for helping me to find a proper vacation package and resort. It was my first visit to Barcelo Mayan Riviera and have to admit it was a great experience. I will definitely use Tripcentral for my next holiday trip.

Amazing Resort

I love this resort! Been here 5 times! Food, beach and people are amazing. The only downside pool is way too cold. I would recommend this resort, especially the tropical or Maya colonial! I love it so much I brought friends with us on our last visit

Great service

It was a wonderful experience for us. We thoroughly enjoyed every bit. Really loved the great service and coordination from this team. Very professional, always available and helpful. We would definitely book our future trips with you and suggest the same to our friends as well.

Great Resort!

The hotel and grounds were very well kept. Very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beach was beautiful and pool area very nice with easy access to food, bar, washrooms from both beach and pool. Nightly shows were great. The lobby and lobby bar was very quiet all the time. A little entertainment in the lobby bar in the evenings would have been a nice touch for those who didn’t want to watch the shows.

Exceptional hotel!

This hotel far exceeded all of our expectations! I travel quite frequently and this hotel by far is a winner in every way. Entertainment, food, beach, cleanliness, service. Perfect resort!

The Barcelo Maya group of hotels are amazing, great weather, excellent food & service is outstanding! The hotels in this group are very clean & beautiful! Snorkelling right off the beach & lots of beach chairs available & also lots of seating & entertainment at the pool, great job well done by all! The restaurants had excellent food & service, the Marenostrum & SanteFe were our favourites, also Le Fuentes is very good. The service at the buffets was great & breakfast items along with the omelett [... read more]e stations were very good. The beach grill had very good service & soft serve ice cream. The Pueblo piano bar in the Colonial lobby is a great spot after all day in the sun. Excellent , friendly service! Fantastic Vacation

The resort had all we needed: room was clean, beds comfortable. Good entertainment. Beach was so warm. A bit rough but enjoyable. Pool was great too. We enjoyed the double decker bus that goes to all other resorts, overall when going to a la carte restaurants, which BTW where really good ( at least the 4 we tried). Overall a great trip

Great location and resort

There are 6 hotels sharing the same beach, but as they are spread out, there's plenty of room on the beach. The food options are plentiful and decent. Premium drinks are included. Great snorkeling location right off the beach and pier. Super large multi pools were also great. Good value for your dollar.
