Very good resort

The staff at this resort are awesome, very friendly and helpful. Resort well layed out. Room are nice the view is spectacular. The food is good. Only draw back are the steps, you can not go from one area to another without doing steps. Especially getting to the beach. But I would return

Fantastic Resort

This resort was exactly what we were looking for. A quiet week away to relax and be spoiled. The views are absolutely beautiful the pictures don’t do this place justice. The room was spacious comfortable and the maid service excellent as always. The main buffet always was well stocked and many selections. The a la cartes were also amazing. The staff here bent over backwards to be sure we were satisfied. We will be coming back!!

Quiet and comfortable

Small resort, but very well-run: management is often seeking feedback and improving things. Likewise, beach is small, but private. Food and service were very good. Not at all crowded late in April. Lots of stairs, so not suitable for some people. Wind was constant. No kayaks, etc for rent. Only walk would have been along the highway, which I declined. Gym was well-equipped. Resort is quiet, not suitable for the party crowd. Love the balcony overlooking the ocean!

It's a dream!

Such an amazing resort! Ocean views from almost anywhere, quiet, amazing staff, terrific food! We ate gluten free and vegetarian with no problem. The service was amazing. The facilities are SO clean! Loved eating every meal Oceanside. We took the free ferry out to the public beach a couple of times to snorkel. Lots of fish to see. The public beach obviously isn't as quiet and clean as the resort, so if you're just looking to sunbath you may as well stay at the resort. But if you want to snorkel  [... read more]or play in the water it's great. Only negative was kareoke night... two bad singers over and over again lol. Lots of shaded Oceanside options if you don't want too much sun. The design of the grounds is amazing... always a quiet spot to get away for some quiet time. My expectations for vacation are forever set too high now! I'll definitely be back.

Beautiful location!

The hotel and grounds were exceptionally clean and inviting. Service and food were excellent as well. Beach was small and there was very little opportunity to walk about as the resort is close to the road and has very limited grounds. However, for a quiet, relaxing vacation with lots of natural beauty, it's perfect. Be advised, though, that flying to the Puerto Plata airport will mean a 4 hour bus ride to the resort!!

Beautiful resort

What we liked the most: stunning views, great service with 24 hour room service, super clean, good food, wifi accessible everywhere even on the beach! Cons: you hear the cars from the road in your room and the beach, nothing around the resort, about 1.5 hour from airport, night entertainment is poor

Perfection in Paradise

My fiancé and I had the most amazing experience this past week at the Bahia Principe Samaná. We booked a room with no balcony or view so we didn't know what to expect, but were wowed with a first floor terrace of our own overlooking the ocean. (From looking around, it appears all rooms face the ocean) All staff was incredibly friendly and clearly there to cater to our needs. The resort is small enough that there were never lines for food, drinks or trouble finding spots at the pool and beach.  [... read more]The cliff above the beach is a local road so you can hear some traffic in the background while at the beach, but is hardly noticeable with the waves. There isn't much going on past 10:30pm, but that was perfect for us. We highly recommend taking the free ferry over to the island Cayo Laventado - and bring your snorkel! It is about an hour from the airport, but was cool to see a bit of the province and the locals on the way in. Overall, this resort was truly perfect!

Very relaxing

The resort was well appointed, the service was excellent and the food was as well, we truly enjoyed the beach the entire week. The resort was well taken care of and staff where top shelf as far as service and welcoming we sincerely enjoyed ourselves Thank you

Wonderful Resort

Beautiful grounds, very clean, wonderful staff If your looking for a smaller resort this is your place. The views are amazing and rooms are beautiful. This is one of cleanest resorts we have ever visited. The staff is very encaging and evening entertainment was was great. Only 3 la carte restaurants, but the main dinning room have a different theme nights each evening. Unlike most resorts it wasn’t a problem to find a lounge chair either around the pool deck or beach. Yes as we were awhere no much happening beyond 10 pm but after all day in the heat and fresh air we were ready to crash. Lots of stairs but we didn’t mind those at all. Keeps one in shape. There are elevators to use if so inclined. Liked the fact that if you forgot something in your room it didn’t take 20 minutes to go back. Very nice small resort.

Wonderful Resort

If you are looking for an Adult Only, small resort then this is the place for you.......there is always lots of staff to look after you and they are very friendly. For a small resort there are plenty of food choices. We look forward to returning sometime in the near future.

Intimate Resort, Beautiful landscape, Friendly Guests

This was my first time going down south, so my partner and I booked this resort as it was adults only and a small resort. They get to know you and are very engaging - Although there are only two bars, there is never much of a wait, staff is attentive, coming around to get your drinks Cons: - Entertainment was subpar for a resort at this price point. Once night was karaoke, one night was a singer of cover songs. All of this is done around the pool. The vibe is more of a country club and less of a resort - There are only really 2 bars. The bar around the pool closes at 6pm and main bar at 11pm. There is literally nothing to do past 11pm unless you want to sit on your balcony and drink from your minibar - This was an adults only resort so the crowd was older but overall this was not a very active, party like resort. It had more of a retirement home feel to it - For a resort like this I found we had to ask for things more than we should have (asking for drinks multiple times at restaurants - whether water, or mimosa, asking for room to be cleaned or more towels in room, etc) - One pool, one whirlpool (which is lukewarm and somehow managed to turn my back blue for a day so I looked like a smurf). - The bus ride back to airport from resort was embarrassing. Our bus stalled out 5 times on the way back to the airport (once on a hill) Overall: - A very nice resort, but honestly, I feel like it is designed and caters to a mainly older crowd. I don't like going to bed at 11pm but here, there isn't much to do after it. I would go back, but only if I was looking for complete relaxation and not many activities.

Fantastic small resort

This is one of the best resorts available if you looking for a quite, peaceful and not at all crowded experience. The beach is small but amazing, the sun rise catches it in the morning and make for a wonderful view. The restaurants have a beautiful view of the water, as does the sunset bar. The staff is upbeat, very attentive and happy to help in any way they can. The food is very good and the al la carta are easy to book as the resort has many amenities for the small number of rooms. Fantastic Resort

We absolutely loved our stay at Luxury Bahia Principe Samana last week. The food was amazing - we highly recommend the buffet food - everything you could want and more was offered and it was all delicious. I loved the Italian restaurant, but RODIZIO restaurant for Brazilian BBQ was incredible! Book it as soon as you arrive. The staff were so friendly, accommodating, excellent service at the bars especially. Great drinks! It truly felt like 'home' for a week, with a beautiful beach, sun and ocean [... read more] waves to wake up to. Although some negative comments from other reviewers I read prior to booking were on point (ie. room fridge was not very cold, hot tub was not very hot), we found them inconsequential. Overall, this resort was perfect for us and we have absolutely no complaints at all. It was quiet, entertaining, inspiring and so much fun ... and we will definitely visit again!

Perfect spot for a fun but relaxing vacation

The Luxury Bahia Principe Samana is everything you want if you're looking for a relaxing but fun vacation. If you plan to spend time in your room make sure to get one with ocean view (most of them face the water, but the ones with a balcony are worth it). But if not, do not worry, as the view from the various spots in the hotel are breath taking. The food is fresh and delicious. Access to the theme restaurants was easy, we were able to get reservations for every night just by using the hotel app. Buffet has a good variety of fresh options and we were never disapointed. The entertainment was adequate, and events throughout the day (mostly around the pool) gave the feeling that there was always something going on. Although there were some honey-mooners celebrating around, I would recommend the Luxury Bahia Principe Samana to a mature audience (40 and up) whom, I suspect, will be able to appreciate the subtleties this hotels has to provide the perfect balance of a relaxing, fun, and enjoyable vacation.

Great resort !

Cet hôtel est luxueux avec une vue extraordinaire sur la mer. Le personnel est accueillant, attentionné et professionnel. Nous avons été très bien reçus et servis.La nourriture du buffet est très variée, abondante et délicieuse. Les restaurants à la carte (3) sont aussi très bons. Le site est très propre tant au niveau de la piscine que des jardins. La suite que nous avons occupée (# 4105) était spacieuse, bien entretenue et avec vue sur la mer. Elles sont dispendieuses et ne valent pas le coût; exemple: visite du parc national (3 heures de visite / 3 heures sur la plage à rien faire, lunch exécrable). Il est préférable de profiter de tous les atouts et activités de l'hôtel.

Excellent resort

We liked the hotel: rooms are spacious and clean, food was great, and the beach we love. The staff was great, very nice, polite and overall very good experience from the reception, bar tenders, people in the restaurants and others.. All in all one of the best vacations recently, and we are thinking of going back.

Amazing Resort on the wrong beach

Resort was Amazing..food was good quality . Rooms were very clean and comfortable. However there was No activity on the beach and beach was way too small and the water was too rough to swim. Most of the staff and servers were friendly. Some should smile more . Overall good value.

Perfect Getaway

This resort is the perfect place if you want/need to completely relax! It’s cliff location produces the calming sound of waves crashing no matter where you are. Sitting on your balcony or on one of the terraces provides the perfect place to relax and unwind. The food and service were excellent. The beach is lovely with plenty of chairs and shade options

Definitely better than 5 star!!!

This is a true beauty spot, the hotel is beautiful, small enough to be charming and large enough to have all the amenities. The hotel and grounds are perfectly kept, not a branch left lying around. I have never stayed anywhere where the staff are so meticulous, everything is sparkling clean, well groomed and yet you feel comfortable all the time. We had a superior balcony room facing the ocean. The room was extremely large, maid service was twice a day, once in the late morning and again in the early evening. Never run out of towels, mini bar is stocked daily and the bed is fresh every day. The butler service was great, even arranged for a rental car for us. One thing that impressed me and made our stay more comfortable was the pillow menu. We chose the type of pillow and it was on the bed when we returned from dinner. The staff was very good, they took care of everything for us from dinner reservations to returning the car rental. The staff was always pleasant, personable and extremely polite, always genuinely happy. You were always treated very good. There was entertainment supplied every night that was fun and gave you a time to socialize with the other guests. This certainly went beyond our expectations. There was only one small problem, when you book you are told there are three restaurants and that you can book as many dinners as you want, unfortunately they do not tell you that if you book a time that is not the height of the season then all three restaurants are not open every night, and on some nights there is only the buffet. The shuttles over to the island beach is also limited in the off season. I would recommend that this information on the change in availability during the off season should be explained to anyone considering this holiday. Luckily, the food is great no matter where you eat and if you want to go to the island, there is still a limited shuttle every day. The trip central agent, Amanda Garlough, was perfect, she found us the perfect spot for this vacation, was always there with help or to answer questions promptly. All around, it has been a very good experience!

Beautiful Resort

I tend to do a lot of research before booking, as we go for two weeks. I was very pleased to discover this resort was amazingly clean, with one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. Room was spacious, nicely designed and beautiful oceanfront view - very quite over the spa area. The food was excellent, including the a la carte restaurants. I was concerned about being bored since we didn't plan any excursions, but the resort was so 5 star that reading and playing in the ocean every day and nice dining was enough. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy meeting people. I would actually consider returning here, even though we always go to different places. It was definitely nice enough to happily look forward to another trip here in the future. As others mentioned the staff are wonderful, sincere and helpful.
