Best Trip !

From the Start to Finish we couldn't say enough but Great reviews about our 8 day stay! Our 3rd time here and won't be our last! The resort has kept up its cleanliness and appearance after all these years. The staff are the friendliest people and are serving and maintaining all day around the resort! THE GRAND RIVIERA PRINCESS IS A FABULOUS RESORT, THIRD TIME THERE!

The Grand Riviera Princess was amazing! The meals, drinks, rooms, pool, beach and staff were wonderful! This is our second time there and we will be going back again! November is a great time to go, no mosquitoes, and no hot stifling humid weather! Great Vacation with Great friends! Hope this review helps.

This is the second time to this resort for me. I travelled with 8 adults and 5 kids ranging from 4-16, from July 24-31. Large resort but I really enjoyed it! I would definitely return to this resort again. PROS: No problems checking in. We were upgrade which was a nice surprise (not to the platinum section). All four families were located close together. Great food at the buffets, lots of variety, maybe the best tasting hamburgers on the beach I have ever had. The steak restaurant was very decent but the best was the Miso restaurant where they prepared the meal in front of you on a grill. Fantastic! Great drinks at all the bars (Jesus was fantastic, made the best mojitos) served in 500 ml plastic glasses. Rooms did not smell musty which can happen at these types of resorts. The a/c worked great in the rooms and the beds were very comfortable. Rooms were clean and functional. We spent a lot of time in the sports bar, great service and great drinks, also a place to cool off in the a/c and play some pool. The evening shows were hit and miss for us, really depends what you like I guess. Aladdin and Moana were the big hits for the kids. They had fun meeting the characters after the show and getting pictures with them. They were well done. The grounds are very well maintained and all the staff I met was always polite and friendly. I was told it was 98% occupancy when we were there but there were still lots of chairs on the beach and around the property. Chairs around the pool were usually taken by 8 in the morning. Saw monkeys and lots of the Coati mundi - tropical raccoons, especially at the beach bbq. CONS: Fondue restaurant was just okay, wouldn't choose to do it again. The trolley could run more frequently. On a separate note, there was/is a seaweed problem in all of the Caribbean. The resort did a good job keeping the beach clean when they could. From the plane you can see small island size patches of floating seaweed so when one of those hits a beach it is a lot of work to clean up. This resort did a good job. If you have a chance, go snorkeling with the whale sharks if you can. It was an amazing tour! Saw lots of giant manta rays as well. Highlight of my trip!

Not so Grand resort

Grand Riviera Princess is showing signs of needing a facelift. -Pool tiles missing or broken - lounge chair broke on us because it was all rusty - clean up was not done on a daily basis example the same cockroach sat squished in the hall way for 2 days, we went for breakfast someone had spilled milk or cream along side of the wall, came back for breakfast the next day and it was still there. Same towel sat on a walkway light the whole week we were there. -staff was grumpy - cockroach in ou [... read more]r room - not enough lighting in hotel room (hallway especially) - Oriental restaurant really bad not oriental at all, Pad Thai was made with a BBQ sauce and was more like noodle soup. We got up and left not finishing our meals, we were warned not to eat at the sushi restaurant by another couple who had gotten sick from it. We heard a few other bad things about the other restaurants so we stuck to the buffets which were ok. - we are not big drinkers, but the drinks were definitely light on alcohol. Just overall if was not a pleasant/welcoming atmosphere. Would not recommend to anyone and would not return to this resort.

Nice Resort

The resort itself was beautiful and very clean. It was a massive place, in some parts it was really quiet and dead which depending on what you like could be good or bad. Didn’t really have that Mexican feel that I like. The staff were very nice and helpful, we had a few minor issues with our room and they were quick to fix it. Again, depending on what you like could be good or bad. I would recommend bringing your own music and speaker. The family club pool does not connect to the other pools. The beach was very happening, lots going on and tons of chairs. I did not like swimming in the ocean. It was very rocky and lots of seaweed and could not see the bottom. I went in holding my toddler and I struggled to get back out. If that stuff doesn’t bother you then you can get to nice sandy spots. Water shoes would help.

Amazing resort

This hotel is truly 5 stars . The quality and variety of food is 10/10 The room very clean staff pay attention to details. I appreciate how management and staff treat guests with respect you feel like you’re prince and princess from our arrival to our departure time . I will go back with my extended family I highly recommend this hotel .

Terrific vacation At the riviera Princess Family suites

This is a large resort and exactly as described.The rooms are large clean and comfortable. A large resort with a lot of walking,pools are warm large and you have a choice of quiet or entertainment. The beach would be very nice if not for the seaweed that has accumulated . There is no clean up going on so that is an issue.Food was good plenty to choose fun ,buffet nice and fresh with variety. If any mobility issues this is mot the place for you

Great time

This is a well kept resort. Very big landscape. Staff was friendly. Room was very clean and cleaned everything every day. Beach is nice but lots of seaweed and rocks at shore. Once in the water is great, your can walk for a long time with water still to the hips. Some days food was ok and some days it was great.

Great Vacation

We loved the resort , the food and the staff our only issue that we had was small children in our pool . We booked swim up room in the 13+ area thinking that would mean we wouldn’t have small children in our area. Unfortunately if you want swim up without children of any age make sure you book adult only! Kids jumping off the sides and off jet pool ledges and splashing water in our drinks was annoying and theirs parents didn’t seem to care. We paid a lot of money to have swim out with the lo [... read more]unges right out our balcony doors that are emerged in the water, people would come along and just stop and enjoy our lounge whether we were in the pool or not. Very frustrating! Those areas should have signs keeping children under 13 out or security walking around making sure kids aren’t jumping in the pools which apparently “isn’t allowed”. If I ever spend that kind of money for swim out again I will make sure it’s more of a private area where other won’t come and help themselves to what I paid for!

Beautiful resort

I will start with the grounds of this resort... Absolutely Pristine! I have yet to be at a resort that has taken as much pride in cleanliness as this resort. We had booked a Junior Suite deluxe swimout, which was awesome. I don't know that I will be able to book anything but from this day forward. It was lovely not having to pack a bag to go to the pool etc. walk right out your balcony and into the pool! Staff were attentive and pleasant. For the price that was paid for this trip, it would have been a plus to have this included.

We stayed at the Riviera Princess All Suites from Apr 1-8, 2018. The grounds are spectacular, the staff in the buffets and restaurants were very friendly. The food was extremely well received by us. We had a swim up room and we basically spent all our pool time here. The resort held many pool events as well as bingo during the day. Musical entertainment in the evenings was very good. Loved the Jamaican band with Reggae music. The rooms are all suites. Very spacious and clean. There is a [... read more]n ice-cream parlour upstairs where the main lobby is. There is lots of activities for children to do if you have children. The beach area did have a lot of seaweed, but this would be caused from previous storms. We would definitely return to this resort. Next time we will try the Yucatan Princess which is an all adult area of this tremendous resort. We give the resort a 5 star.

Great Family Vacation

The Family Club Section of the resort is excellent if you have young children . The service was good the resort very large. The resteraunts were ok . Not the best food compared to other resorts I have visited . And the service in the ala carte resteraunts was pretty slow . Tons of seaweed on the beaches . All in all a really nice vacation .

Grand Riviera Princess - Mar 13-20/2018

Check in was a breeze! No line up at all. However, they did not accommodate our room request and did not want to change our rooms. Once we got to our rooms and called front desk, we were able to speak to someone else that was able to change our rooms. This was a bit of a hassle as we are a family of 5. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had an issue with our A/C so they were in and out trying to fix it but it was fixed within a few hours of our arrival. A/C unit was still loud though. Fridge wasn [... read more]'t working so they tried to fix it. When they couldn't, they got us a new fridge but still didn't work. Apart from that, room was fine and cleaned daily. We mainly ate at the buffets for breakfast and dinner and just got BBQ for lunch. Food is good. We were travelling with an other family that has 2 kids and we have 3 kids. No issues finding food that the kids liked or food that we liked. For the A La Carte restaurants, I would highly recommend the seafood (salmon and shrimp were delicious) and the Japanese. The Italian was not very good. But the buffets are also just fine and they have theme nights. The grounds are well kept. There is always someone sweeping, changing garbage, cleaning washrooms, etc. And everyone is very friendly. We had no issues walking from place to place but there is a "train" that you can take also. There are lots of animals that you will see. As long as you don't bother them, they won't bother you! If you leave your food unattended though, they WILL come and eat it! We had access to the family club. The kids pool was nice. It was clean, shallow, and had some slides and other things for the kids to play. They come around during lunch with hot dogs, burgers, and fries which is very nice of them. The kids club also has a schedule that you can view and sign kids up for activities. There are plenty of activities and lots of supervision for the kids. The pools are well maintained and some have swim up bars. They usually have entertainment in the main pool around 3PM but it's not always child friendly. They had a foam party at the beach also one day but again not child friendly. Didn't bother us as there was lots of other things for the kids to do. The beach has lots of seaweed but if you go in it stays shallow for quite a while and you won't find seaweed. We only went to the beach twice but that was only because the kids didn't want to leave the pool! Entertainment at night in the theatre was great! The shows are appropriate for all ages and the kids really enjoyed them. We travelled from March 13-20, 2018 and the weather was perfect! There is a bit of rain on the day that we arrived but it didn't last long. The rest of the days was sunny and hot.

Beautiful amazing resort!

This was our second trip to this resort. We loved it so much we had to go back! And we will be back again, it never fails to disappoint! This time we stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suites instead of Platinum and it was just as nice. Everything is so clean here and the gardens are beautiful. All the staff are so friendly and work so hard to make sure you have an amazing vacation. There are so many different pool areas to lounge by or head to the beach. The entertainment team also do a fantastic job keeping everyone happy - the beach foam party was so much fun! Great Resort other than one staff member

Had a great time, resort was amazing, staff were all good with the exception of this one person named Jerry who works at the front desk. My key to my room was not working and he sent me back to my room a total of 4 times (over the course of an hour very late at night) with a key that was supposed to work but it didn't. I had to insist that he send me with a staff member so i could simply get into my room to sleep. Very rude and unhelpful as if me wanting to get into my room was a problem for  [... read more]him. Second occasion my girlfriend had sprained her ankle. Security staff was very helpful in assisting her, getting ice, crutches etc. Jerry did nothing and was extremely rude and unhelpful just like the first time. Resort was excellent but Jerry not so much. This is too bad as my bad experience with him is one of the things I remember about this trip. Otherwise the resort and staff were excellent. Just a bad apple it seems.

Good Resort

Although I would consider this Resort a 4 or 4.5 star rating, there were some areas that either needed improvement or takes away from the overall experience but it depends on what you are looking for. The beach was not good, very rocky for walking into, not great for walking along either and too far from the pools/rooms The food was hit or miss, you could eat healthy if you wanted to, all the salad fixings you want but no lettuce? Way tooooooo many animals on the resort, an iquana jumped on my head when I was sleeping on a lounge chair, very unsettleing and I could not relax the rest of the week. Too many other anmials such as cats, and whatever that other animal is that roams around the garbage, etc. In addition, the bed was so uncomfortable I slept on the couch two nights. Overall I thought it was a decent resort but now looking at my comments once I have written them down, I would not recommend this resort to friends. Too large for anyone who does not want to walk a fair distance for everything. The beach was at least a mile from the main lobby.

Fantastic resort

Friendly staff, clean grounds and amazing food. We did not take part in all the activities but a whole variety of things were available everyday. I would recommend the spa services. The massages on the beach are sooo relaxing and are performed by registered therapists who provide receipts for insurance purposes. I Wouldn't change a thing. Our stay was perfect.

Amazing! Very Big, But Lots of Options

Jan 18 Feb 1 2018 Beautiful Resort, with great restaurants, lots of options for beach and pool We upgraded to Platinum, and beach are is wonderful, although water is rocky, dirty with algae and some garbage washing in.. Beautiful resort

Staff was wonderful Rooms clean The food in general was okay. I would have liked more variety. Grounds were kept very nicely with the exception of the restrooms nearest the beach. More frequent attendance to these bathrooms is required. Alcoholic beverages were poor in taste. The wine was terrible and much of the liquor seemed to have been watered down.
