The Now Jade Riviera lived up to everything I had expected. The junior suites were clean and up to date. We stayed in building 2 on the non preferred side and had a third floor room with a comfortable balcony and nice view above the trees. We did not use the pool because we spent most of the time on the beach. The beach was nice though a bit seaweedy, but it was cleaned off daily. There were a lot of rocks in the water In front of the resort so we walked a short distance to the beach in front o[... read more]f the adjoining resort when we wanted to swim in order to avoid stepping on rocks in the water. This was not as arduous as it sounds. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Do take lots of small bills to tip the staff. We planned one day trip off the resort to Mayan ruins and snorkelling. Unfortunately I was unable to go on this trip because I was suffering from a severe case of suspected food borne illness (cramping, vomiting, diarrhea and fever) on our fourth day at the resort. They would not refund my money for the day trip. The resort did take down the particulars of my illness when my husband went to tell them at the front desk, but no one made any effort to follow up with me to see how I was doing, nor did they send someone to clean up as promised (garbage cans and toilet - I mean I was truly severely ill) despite my husband requesting this and leaving a substantial tip. My husband and children were fortunately not affected and went on the day trip while I suffered in our room. This is the only negative experience I had - almost 48 hours of being severely ill. I had been drinking and eating very moderately and used only bottled water to brush my teeth - and all our food was from the resort - so at least an acknowledgement of my situation by the resort would have been nice. And the loss of the $103US for my share of the day trip which was booked at the resort was also disappointing. I am thankful that I recovered before having to fly home because flying in that condition would have been impossible. Other than my illness and the disappointing response to that, everything else at the resort was as we had hoped and a very pleasant experience and the staff in the restaurants provided very good service.

Now Jade Riviera Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Mexico
I stayed at the Now Jade from January 27 - February 3, 2017 in a tropical suite.
Transfer to the Hotel by Nexus (Sunwing transportation company) was swift and no issue. However on the return the bus was 45 minutes late with an excuse that the originally booked bus had mechanical difficulties. We asked to be taken directly to the airport but the driver stopped at Now Sapphire and waiting another 20 minutes.
First impression, the Resort was very clean and modern. Check in was quick (note t[... read more]he ask for a $300US deposit, not an imprint but actual charge on your credit care which is suppose to be refunded 3 days after your return). We were quickly ushered to a gentleman waiting for us to do a resort orientation. Much to our disappointment it was a sales pitch to upgrade to the preferred side, the salesperson gets a bonus/percentage if you upgrade. A firm "no" and a healthy tip solved that problem promptly, however we were called one morning in our rooms to see if we wanted a 90 minute discussion and to upgrade.
Service/Staff: Outdoor lobby bar is open and airy and a view of the ocean with a beautiful warm breeze. The staff at this bar were very friendly, accommodating and pleasant. Wonderful service and staff and all services were excellent. Room services was very good as was any issues there were there within 5 minutes. Bar and beach service was excellent.
Grounds: Well groomed and plush vegetation. Beach was cleaned of seaweed every day, towels were refreshed on the beach.
Rooms: Spacious and very nice, kind bed and sitting area with medium sized balcony. Bathroom was gorgeous, deep jetted tub, separate shower with rain showerhead, marble floors, bidet and two sinks. The beds were very comfortable. We were located in Building 3, sufficient but would ask for Building 4 - closer to lobby, pools and restaurants.
Food/Restaurants: The food was top notch. Enjoyed the restaurants (Italian, Asian fusion and Mexican). Restaurants and food were outstanding in the restaurants, buffet and pool side grill (great for burgers, hot dogs, ribs, fries, nachos etc.). Coco cafe was also excellent (get your take out coffee, cappuccino etc. here) late night snacks etc.
Beach: Rocky when sitting near the centre; further to the right side for the sandy part which was the only part good for swimming; There was lots of lounge chairs till about 9-10am; there was some seat reserving but still remained lots of loungers but not as many palapas. Beach drink services was quick and very friendly.
Pool; Did not use the pool at all.
SMOKING: When we arrived we were told the resort was Non-smoking. We were shown a small smoking area beside the lobby essentially standing on a small roadway where the staff would smoke. We were stunned as their website does not indicate "non-smoking" nor were we informed by sunwing or our travel agent of this and it is not the norm in Mexico. We then asked (several times to different staff) where is a smoking area and we were told this was the only location. On the third day we found a bar "The Mix" and noticed ash trays everywhere so in essence you were allowed to smoke there, also found a spot outside the lobby. We were disappointed that the staff would not inform us of this when asked several times and had to find on our own. We also encountered a few other guests who were also not told about these smoking areas. I felt the resort did itself a disservice but not informing us of smoking areas, we tried to figure out their motivation and the only conclusion we could reach was that they did not want to look their tip by sending us to another part of the resort.
It is a beautiful resort with amazing food but I would not return to this resort

Now Jade experience
The resort was good. I had to change my room as I was facing a swamp and it smelled really bad. They changed my room after few calls but it was a hassle. Overall the food was OK nothing spectacular. The staff truly tried to provide good service. They did not let my 15 year old son to a restaurant becasue he did not have long pants. Overall I had a good time.

Great resort despite narrow beach
Location - Its close enough to the airport for taxi cost about $30 US one way.
Food - Restaurants were all very good, especially the surf and turf special at the french rest.
Pools - The resort was very full in the first week of december and pool side lounge chairs were hard to get if you weren't up early on the 'family side". The preferred side has an adults only pool where lounge chairs were much easier to get.
Staff - All staff were friendly and courteous and genuinely appreciative whe[... read more]n tipped.
Rooms - were spacious and very clean (oceanview - non-preferred side) . The beds were very comfortable. Friends had a preferred room with balcony jacuzzi. This room was very large, with nicer ammenities and also very clean.
Booking tip - Book preferred when you book your vacation on line when its only a few bucks more than non preferred. If you wait until at the resort check-in desk to upgrade to preferred... its around $400 more for the week and too expensive. If crowded, you'll want access to the preferred pool and the rooms are very nice. I noticed when booking that some preferred rooms were actually cheaper than non-preferred on trip central. Wish I had booked preferred then.
The entertainmnet was was as good as it gets in the Mayan. In my mind, this is a four and half to five star resort but the narrow beach took away from the quality of walks that could have made my holiday much more enjoybale. They work hard to remove the smelly seaweed every day. Too Bad there isn't enough beach for beach volleyball and other activities ... but they played volleyball on the roof on a tennis court. I was told that recent stormy weather caused the beach to become narrower than it once was.

Five Stars and the 28 people I went with I believe would agree
The Jade Riviera Cancun is a beautiful resort. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good restaurants and no problems. Lots to do on site and the concierge was super helpful with off-site entertainment, eg golf, snorkeling trips and excursions to Playa Del Carmen etc. I only wish I could stay longer.

Fun holiday
Staff was amazing kind helpful. Hotel is beautiful, our room was in the 900 block which is right beside the adult pool. We really liked the preferred club very nice light snacks, drinks and coffee. Family pool was busy and louder but lots of activity to keep, you amused. It was so nice not to get up at 6 am to try to find a chair, there was always lots around. One very unexpected charge was ,as soon as we walked in they charged our card $300 damage charge immediately, which i think the agent[... read more] should have informed us about!
This was not given back until after check out.
It's very slippery grounds,I slipped my first day and saw numerous people thru the week slipping. Although our agent said she was there she was unaware of a lot of things.

Nice Resort
The resort was clean and well staffed, the room was good but not great, the bathroom had mould on the tile and was starting to show age, not the same quality as my past experience at the Dreams Tulum. The food was excellent and the waiters were fantastic. The grounds were in excellent shape and the beach areas well groomed and looked after, the beach and ocean was good except for low tide where there was an excessive amount of seaweed but not at the hotels control. No towel card policy which was[... read more] nice and the bars and waiters in the pool area were quick and checked in regularly. The hotel evening events were ok, the fire show was great. Same vendors 3 time in a week selling the same old stuff.Hotel shops were expensive like everywhere but cheaper than I expected. $12 US for a bag of Lays chips...yikes.
Overall a nice hotel but far from a 5*

Fantastic Clean friendly resort
Our trip to Mexico to Now Jade was the first time in 25 years that we have been able to get away. We went with another family making it a group of 14 and we had a fantastic time. The Food was fantastic in all restaurants and the staff were so friendly and very quick to react. The rooms are a great size and always cleaned well. It was never an issue getting beach chairs for our big group, the ocean was nice and warm and the pool was a great temperature and always well maintained. Fantastic Vacation
The resort was absolutely Beautiful, Very Safe, food was plenty and lots, alacarte's were very good, rooms were very modern, clean and spacious. No waiting for drinks, meals. Pool chairs were plentiful with towels on hand, very good idea. All our accommodations were as requested. Entertainment was good, great SuperBowl party outdoors and lobby area with big screen TV's and outdoor cabana's. Front desk service was very friendly and helpful, upon check in and check out, front desk staff contirague [... read more]assisted us with our flight confirmation and seating upon departure and printed out our boarding passes. Resort is a moderate size with everything in walking distance, staff were very nice and cheerful, Tomas and Ricordo, pool waiters were very accomadating, cheerful and great service, maids cleaned rooms daily, had a GREAT time and were close to our other friends. Only downfall, pools could have been warmer, but outdoor temperature was cool at night. Would recommend this resort and come back as several people on resort were returning vacationers.
A great vacation and memories, all was more than we expected. Will recommend to our friends / family for future vacations.

N.J.R. EXPERIENCE
AS THIS WAS OUR 5TH TIME AT THIS RESORT, I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT IT... EVERYTHING WAS AS USUAL, GREAT.. HOPING TO BE UPGRADED TO THE PREFERRED SECTION, I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THE ADDED COST WHICH WAS MORE THAN I WAS QUOTED, BUT STILL WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY.

Lots of fun and relaxing
Great resort. Rooms are big and very comfortable. Overall we had a great vacation. The food was good, great buffet but the menus in the restaurants was very similar but it's not any reason not to go to this resort. Love that you don't make reservations for dinner you can just show up to any of them. One of the better beaches we have been to in Mexico. Which is not really known for its beaches.

Awesome resort
Lots to do at the resort. The staff works hard to have activities going on all the time. The 2 shows we watched was excellent. The food was excellent everywhere even the Buffett. Liked that you didn't have to book a la carts. The service was excellent even when you didn't tipped. Even room service was included. Wifi and long distance calling to US and canada was free. This place is truly all inclusive resort. Only down fall was the beach was weedy but they do rake it up every day.

Great family vacation
We had a great vacation and enjoyed the resort. We travelled with our 1.5 year old son, and while the resort is not geared directly at families, it was family friendly enough to make us comfortable, and there were lots of families with kids there. There were high chairs at all restaurants, and a small children’s wading pool that the kids loved to splash in. A few odds and ends of toys were around the pool, of varying quality and availability. A kids menu was on offer at all restaurants, althou[... read more]gh you often had to know to ask for the selections - usually pasta with butter or tomato sauce, chicken nuggets, burger, cheese pizza, or cheese quesadilla. My son also loved the balloon animals that the servers at the poolside restaurant Castaways would make for him at lunch time. He was too young for the kids club, which is for 3 and over, but the kids looked like they were having fun on the trampoline each day.
Service was universally good throughout the resort. Wait staff were excellent, quick service for both drinks on the beach and in restaurants, housekeeping was very good and accommodating to our napping toddler’s schedule, check-in and front desk service also very quick and helpful. We particularly enjoyed not having to deal with towel cards or restaurant reservations - and because we were usually dining early at 5:30 or 6, we never had to wait for a table. We also enjoyed the free wifi.
We did end up upgrading to the Preferred building after our first night. The regular rooms are lovely for couples, but have an odd sunken living room with two steps and no railing. After watching our son climb up and down with terror and fall several times on the marble floor, we decided to upgrade to a preferred room which had a flat layout and also a door separating the bedroom and living area. The upgrade to a tropical view room on the second floor was $40 a night, which we felt was worth it (oceanview would have been $60). These rooms are close to the adults only pool, and a little further from the family pool and main beach area, but the resort is well laid out and from end to end only about a 5 minute walk, so not a big deal. We enjoyed access to the Preferred Lounge as well, to get snacks throughout the day, coffee, milk for my son, and my husband enjoyed the self-serve top shelf liquors. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi on the balcony - went in with our swimsuits on as there is not a lot of privacy, but it was a nice way to end the day. Floors were very slippery, and we had to be quite careful, particularly after coming out of the shower and around the pool deck.
Food was quite good throughout the resort. Breakfast buffet excellent, lunch service by the pool was good (loved the fish tacos, and the fresh chips and guacamole) and dinner at the Italian, French and Mexican was good. Even the buffet at dinner was surprisingly good, and I am not usually a buffet person. We liked being able to get snacks and coffee at the coffee shop throughout the day, and room service was decent, although not speedy.
Before arriving, I was most concerned about the beach, because we love to swim in the ocean and I had read some negative reviews. However, the beach was great! Yes, there are some areas with rocks, but there are also long stretches of white sand that are easy to walk in. And there is a bit of coral off the shore so you can do a bit of snorkeling which is fun - we also took the snorkeling tour, which picks you up off the beach and takes you by boat 15 min to a national marine park where there is an amazing reef for snorkeling (an hour for $50 per person). And yes, we did experience the huge seaweed accumulation on the beach, but, this is the ocean! There is seaweed. And sometimes, based on weather conditions, this seaweed washes up on shore. The staff worked hard to clear it and within three days, the beautiful white sand beach was back. We sat on the beach every day, and did have to snatch up chairs at breakfast time because there were a lot of people reserving them, but we also saw staff bringing down more chairs to the beach on request.
Overall, we had a fabulous time on our vacation and were sorry to have to go home at the end of the week. We have travelled to several other resorts in the Mayan Riviera, and the Now Jade compared well to any of them. I would recommend it without hesitation if you are looking for a good resort experience for a good value.
