Beautiful stay

Was there with my son and we love the complex. The food is good. The beaches are nice and clean. The superior rooms are outdated but have good beds. Take the deluxe supplements, it is worth it. The animation is comparable to Cuba resorts. The people serving are amazing which make the hotel a 4 star.

Mostly Good

The grounds, beach and pool are amazing! Booked what we thought was Reef but ended up on the Beach side, no biggie except it was the non renovated side, so it was old and dated. Room was minimal, nothing fancy at all. The house keeper gave us the bare minimum for cleaning, there was hair on the bathroom floor that was there for 3 days until we cleaned it out selves. She only swept, no mopping the whole time we were there. Bartenders were not the friendliest, never spoke to me ever, just looked a [... read more]t me when I ordered drinks and the only way I got anything out of them was if there was a tip involved. When the staff switched on the weekend it was much better. The food at the buffet was the same the whole week, so by the end of 7 days it was enough.

Amazing resort

Perfect location. Great staff. Clean and safe. Good variety of food and drinks. Great animation team and entertainment. We loved the pictures with Mario the monkey. Walking off the resort was safe and had excellent shopping. We'll be returning. Thank you to Kevin Dupuis at tripcentral for the great service.

Amazing resort

Everything was great as usual. Perfect location. Great price, entertainment and food. This was our 7th year there and we'll keep returning. Thanks again to Kevin Dupuis at tripcentral for awesome service.

Great Memories

The pool and beach are beautiful and well maintained, there was a variety of food everyday. We stayed in the newly renovated room and it was clean and service of the cleaning staff was awesomesome. Great trip

Very Good

I read lots of negative reviews about Casa Marina Reef, i thought I should check it out myself, and I am glad I did, we stayed in the renovated area, it was very nice the beds are comfortable, staff are amazing, our housekeeping (Anna) was amazing, Bell Boy (Ray) was very helpful, food was great we enjoyed all our a la Carte except the Mexican was not as good as the other, and also the International $ was AMAZING. Activities and Shows staff very professional. front desk very helpful. the only d [... read more]isappointment we had is the Beach, if you like to go for a walk on the beach that is not the place for you because it is a very small and very rough from the waves hitting the large Rocks. we enjoyed lounging by the pool but they lack some umbrellas, they only have 4 Umbrellas at Pool #2. I am glad I experienced the resort myself, I will go back again for sure.

First and last time there

The new rooms are Nice and the cleaning ladies were professional The food was not good 90%of the staff was not friendly and for the pool we advised management that a lady had clean the son poop in the pool and the only thing they did was To pick up the poop and no treatment has been made

Great Vacation

Loved the resort. The updates are wonderful. I found the beds comfortable and pillows nice and fluffy. The was not one bug in our room or the grounds from what I saw in the 10 days I was there. The food was great, especially the Mexican restaurant. The entertainment staff was the best of all employees. Very friendly and get you involved in activities. Luis is absolutely hilarious and Jim, by far the best dancer. I would most definitely return to this resort.

Fair Resort

A group of us have vacationed here for the past three years. The price continues to go up but the service declines. The upgrades that have been done to the lobby and restaurants are amazing,however, the services, rooms and food continue to decline. Room service was inconsistent with replenishing drinks and towels, the food was always cold unless you ordered pasta, too many cold showers for my liking and we were locked out of room, but we could enter using a straw in the hole in the patio door [... read more].

Review

I stayed at this resort 2 years ago and had a great trip. This time not so much. The Cleaning of the rooms sometimes took until 5 pm but they already have taken our towels so we couldn’t even shower for dinner. Replenishment of water and pop was hit or miss. We didn’t have hot water for 2 days. Getting a beach towel or loungers is tough. It was nice to see the lobby renovated and the restaurant. The wait to book the a la carte was ridiculous. Buffet was basically the same food all the time. Could have had more variety. The weather was good and that was the break we needed.

Paid More - Got Less

A group of us have vacationed at Casa Marina Reef Resort now for the past 3 years. While we still our enjoyed our stay this year, all of us agree that the price continues to go up, however, the services, rooms & food seem to be diminishing. They have done a ton of upgrades to the lobby and restaurant/bars which is wonderful, however, the inconsistency of the rooms being replenished, the cold food (unless you order pasta), the cold showers (twice) and squeaky closets/doors need much improvement [... read more].

Good resort

The place was beautiful and very friendly staff a couple of minor things is no hot water.We stayed in the renovated side the store on the resort is very very expensive a bottle of copper tone lotion was 38 dollars US .Also no 24 hour snack bar and never really changed up the menu.Room service was great clean grounds lots of if you can ignore them if’s all good

You get what you pay for

Beautiful grounds and kept clean, we had a renovated ocean view room on the second floor and was located central to everything. Mattress was very uncomfortable and pillows are hard foam. 1 buffet which was very busy and had to wait in line up for breakfast and supper. We ate at the Mexican restaurant 1 evening 2 of our party of 4 experienced food poisoning. We lost a days vacation because they were ill all day. Nice Resort

This resort is clean. We upgraded our room to premium which was worth the money. I would not be happy in a regular room as they are very worn. Food was ok but never hot. Service lacked speed. Pools and cold tubs were kept clean. Staff were friendly.

Fair resort

This was our third visit to the Dominican in Puerto Plata Sasua..I found this resort lacking in comfort . Bedding sheets etc..could use an upgrade. From the moment we arrived , , one issue after another wrong room , clogged toilet, wasted an entire morning booking reservations to eat at one of there restaurants. Nice resort

We just went from Feb 8-15th. Resort was nice, everything close together so good for us travelling with kids. The bigger pool was cold. Never warmed up even with the heat. Food in the buffet was not very good and all of us got sick with what felt like food poisoning. The little outdoor lunch buffet had the basics like French fries and pizza and burgers but was the same every day. Room was very basic and older. Check in took forever upon arrival as only two staff and many arriving guests. There is no wifi on the resort unless you pay for it. Staff were friendly and were helpful. Unfortunately the beach was nice but the waves were very strong so scared the kids from swimming in the ocean. Bonus though it is only a 15 minute drive from the airport. I would not recommend this resort for reasons listed.

4.5 star!

My husband and I just returned from CMR and I was pleasantly surprised! My husband booked the trip and when I found out it was a 3.5 star I was very worried as we traveled all over the world and to some pretty amazing resorts and hotels. The hotel decor was chic and trendy, friendly staff and great food/drinks! We had no complaints and the price was unbeatable!

Really loved this resort

When we first arrived at the resort we were a little apprehensive. Being that it was right in the downtown area and a lot of traffic. Once we got into the resort and got ourselves familiar with the area we knew we had picked the right resort. The staff keep this resort spotless. Always cleaning. Fun times at Casa Marina Reef

My friends and I had a great week at Casa Marina Reef. My room, although not one of the updated ones, was clean and had a comfy bed. The sea was a bit rough so we spent most of our time at the quiet pool. The grounds were very clean, the staff friendly and the buffet had variety. Check-in was hectic, in part because I lost a wheel from my suitcase, but maintenance staff were very helpful and fixed it for me. Bar service was slow at times but that helped to space out the drinks. Ha Ha!

Good For The Price

Staff was very friendly and accommodating at the resort. Our room was VERY modest at Casa Marina Reef location. We had an ocean view room on the main level and were pretty happy with it. Do not expect luxury but a clean bed to sleep in and a warm shower to clean up in. No art or pictures on the walls but how often are you in the room, right? Basically, you just have to ignore rude guests as there are cultural differences. Also, prepare to be surrounded by many, many smokers. Kind of annoying, cigarette smokers everywhere and they smoke anywhere and anytime they please. Got smoked out of spots at times. No smoking in buffet, thank goodness, and 50% of food is delicious. Other 50% I just stayed away from. Coffee was pretty good, 6 out of 10. Playa Alicia beautiful and clean with respectful locals and no one trying to sell you stuff... Playa Sosua is nice, too, the locals try to please you with good beach services like food to your chairs while you relax. Casa Marina to me was 6 out of 10 but you can’t go wrong for the price. Catch a baseball game across the street or head right into the city for a bottle of cold Presidente.
