Amazing resort

We loved loved loved this place! The service was amazing. They were so welcoming and eager to get us anything we needed. The food was actually quite amazing. We had 2 a la crate meals ( Mediterranean and Asian) and they were better than home. Our room was comfortable and easy to get to. We enjoyed being able to hop on a cart and travel around to different spots with ease. They are renovating, but you can barely notice as they are quiet and clean up very promptly. They are always upkeeping the [... read more] grounds and very friendly as you pass by. We will be back for sure! We can’t wait!

Memories to be made! But not with the bathrooms

Loved the very friend staff and people at the resort! Clean rooms and the beaches are to die for! The first day when I arrived I had no water or beverages in my room which was not convenient. Food was decent for Cuba! Excellent breakfast but Not very impressed with the lack of vegetarian options on the “a-la-carte” menus. The Mexican restaurant was not very Mexican but still very tasty food. Bars were not stocked up all the time and always lacked booze. Very sad to see stray cats and dogs on [... read more] the resort that looked to be abused. We tried feeding them some meat but there were signs for us not to feed these starving pets. Also the washrooms amongs the resort never had toilet paper and if it did it was a miracle so make sure you bring your own from your room. A lot of them also had broken locks and broken toilets. A lot of the sinks were broken and the beach bathroom was very run down and not clean. Activities listed on the website such as fruit carving were not offered and when we inquired about it the staff laughed and said they don’t offer a lot of the activities listen online. Overall very fun pool area with a swim up bar and a clean beach. Me and the girls still had a wonderful trip despite some of the issues on the property.

I would give 2.5 star

Not what I expected., food was mainly pork, beef dishes chewy, no phones,,working. Hall way lights, stand up light not working, telephone shower, the fridge not working. Changed the room, 3 times. Food had mainly pork dishes. No accommodation for , non pork eater.

Amazing staff!

I loved every second at Memories Paraiso! The grounds are beautiful. The beaches are unlike any I’ve seen before. The food was amazing, people had warned me about food in Cuba and we had no problems, every meal was delicious. The snack bar served ham and cheese sandwiches 24/7 and had awesome lunch buffets. The lobby bar serves up amazing coffees and other drinks. My only complaints are things the hotel cannot help because it’s so hard for Cuba to get their hands on simple things we take for [... read more] granted. The hotel room was a bit run down but it was clean and comfortable. Every staff member we care across was a gem. Especially the service manager Havier (?). We would come back to this resort ANY TIME, I hope to be back in the next few years!

Memories Great chain!

Ola! The grounds were clean and well maintained. Staff were great, cleaning staff and restaurant staff courteous and helpful. Beach white, white sand fluffy and amazing. Food was great for Cuba. Pools were clean and little cold. Weather was fantastic. Entertainment was great but started at 9:30 which is a little late if you have kids. Lots of kids activities. Buffets had lots of good hot freshly cooked food. Many assorts to pick from. Sand flees to get you so bring bug spray. Trolleys pick you up and can take you all over the repost but the resort is definitely small enough to walk it all. This report is shared with Grand Memories but we have the bigger pool. Towels were plentiful and always exchangeable. Sports area always had something open or someone to play with. Managers and staff always said good morning and talked with you. Will definitely go back and recommend this resort. Bus ride 1. 3/4 hours off the cosway from the airport but you get see the marvelous Cuba and culture on the ride and the sunsets and sun rises are amazing!!!!! See you again soon Cuba

Great Resort

We stayed at the Memories Paraiso in Cayo Santa Maria from January 26-Feb 2nd. We had a great time and the service was EXCELLENT! We were very pleased with our room. Villa 35 great location overlooking the pool and our room was very clean. Great layout of the grounds.We were a walk away from the market.We will definitely go back! Would I recommend this resort.....Absolutely!

Disapointing

We paid extra for the Diamond Club. The check in was fast and easy, the drink was delicious, the tram ride great. We asked for a King size bed, but there wasn't any available then, we did get one the next day. The first room was on ground level, looking at a bunch of bushes with garbage strewn through it. Our AC didn't work and there was no bar in the closet to hang our clothes on. The mini bar was not stocked and the other 2 couples got Champaign, we didn't. None of the room phone [... read more]s work either. The next day we spent at least an hour trying to get a room change. Happy to say we did and had to ask for the bar in the closet again. One was brought right away. We had to ask for water because the mini bar didn't have any. The sliding door to the balcony worked great, except, someone put the latch on upside down, so it didn't lock. We were suppose to get premium drinks, but they kept running out of it. The pool bar ran out of beer kegs, but they did offer cans. The main buffet was ok, but they didn't have enough things to make omelets and didn't bother getting any more. The bathrooms beside the main buffet didn't work all week, but the ones off the lobby did, except for the mens and for the 1st 2 days they used the ladies. The beach is perfect! Thank you Mother Nature. The bathrooms at the beach were disgusting. We had someone come and ask us for drink orders a few times, but later in the afternoon, nothing. It's ok, we can walk. But it says in the brochure we paid for that service. The concierge was in the lobby 2 days only, then disappeared for the rest of the week. As I said, premium amenities in the room was zilch. We weren't told about the exclusive lunch at an a la carte restaurant. We did go to the dinner show, it was ok. The other 2 couples we went with are still there. From what I've been hearing, you won't like what they have to say about this week. Something is going on, are they selling, going under or don't really care about their guests.

2 star resort

This was a very poor rundown dirty resort. Food was terrible not sanitary at all. Service was slow. Rooms were old and falling apart. The only good thing was the beaches and they were full of and fleas.

Family oriented resort.

Beautiful white sand beach, shallows slope gently, but no coral & no fish & often high waves. Lovely landscaping & attractive architecture. Good swimming pool. Children's programs, but not enough adult activities. Large complex but only one pool table & one dead ping pong table. No bicycles, no horses. Gym in market square was okay. Buffet food variety good if you go early. Lots of crab & shrimp. Security was very good. On the other hand, no chance to meet non-resort staff Cubans. Often have  [... read more]to dodge electric carts along pathways. Exchange money at resort bank counter rather than reception.

6th Time as good as the first!

My time at Memories Cayo Santa Maria is ALWAYS fantastic. This is our 6th trip and I just don’t see is not going there year adter year! The people are amazing, the facality is always improving! The price of the vacation can’t be beat!

A good resort more of a 3 star

This resort is more of a 3 star resort. The room was comfortable and nothing too fancy. It was clean and spacious. The resort is beautifully maintained lots of flowers and shrubs. The pool was very clean. The did have some issues with the pubic toilets. Most times they ran out of toilet paper. Suggestion bring a roll of toilet paper from the room and put it in your beach bag. It needs more variety. Too bad they don't do cuban food. As for the a la carte we tried the Mediterranean and the Mexican restaurant. These two were great. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. The best place to have lunch was the Grill. They had a good variety of food choices and the service was superb. If you go to the grill ask for Anyisel she was a fantastic server. The best part of this trip was the beach. It is one of the most beautiful beach I have seen in Cuba. As for my overall experience I enjoyed my stay at the Memories Paraiso. Would return but would probably try the Memories Sanctuary instead.

Mediocre resort

After many trips to Cuba I expected more from a 4 star resort. Food was very lacking. Things that could be easily fixed. Food stations not hot enough, eggs luke warm. Food not labelled. Many washrooms non functioning. No toilet seats on toilets at pool. Out house at beach beyond disgusting. Entertainment was excellent. Rooms were adequate. There was often issues with keys not working. Very long bus ride to resort. Beach is lovely but really no better than Varadero beach

Wasn't the greatest resort but beautiful beach

The room was not very nice, we got so many bites and were worried that we got bed bugs. The food was pretty bad. Not much to pick from, barely any all you can eat shacks. The market that was a 5 minute walk was really nice. The beach was incredible.

Grand Memories Cayo Santa Maria Trip Experience

As written to Jessica this morning: Good afternoon Jessica; happy Friday. With cordial salutations from Vancouver, we’d like to wish you first-off a very prosperous 2019 and beyond! Having just returned from our Cuba vacation, we thought it’d be prudent to share some comments about our vacation experience. ~ Rather than commenting on Trip Advisor, we prefer sharing our experience with you, but by all means please feel free to share this information with Sunwing and Memories Resorts [... read more]. Since nothing, other than the Spanish cheeses and cold-cuts was truly exceptional, we’re dividing our comments on what was good, not so good and bad… The good things: 1. The hotel property, consisting of Memories Paraiso, Grand Memories and Sanctuary is very beautiful, and we really enjoyed walking back and forth the entire resort. 2. The white sand beach is also very beautiful, though somewhat spoiled by fallen palapas and piled-up beach furniture. 3. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, though not as friendly as the staff at Memories Jibacoa (our previous Cuban vacation). 4. Sunwing representatives were present at the lobby most of the day, which gave us a comfort feeling. 5. The food, amazingly enough, was pretty good, particularly the cheese and cold-cuts selection from Spain. 6. The ambiance at the Grand Memories lobby was quite relaxed (beautiful live music all evening), and the cappuccino coffee was simply delicious!! 7. The entertainment at the Parranda Theatre was quite enjoyable, notwithstanding the terrible sound system. The not-so-good: • Our “4-star” bedroom looked more like a “2-star”, though we were not surprised about this (same at Jibacoa’s resort). ~ The closet was missing one door, the mini-fridge was rusted and old, there was a strong mildew smell from humidity, and the toilet seat was quite wobbly (reported twice to room maintenance). • The pools were very cold (even for Canadian standards), and the pool entertainment was “way too loud and repetitive” for our taste. • Our room faced the Sanctuary Pool, so needless to say we had to listen to loud and overly repetitive music every night. The music by itself was OK (party-time after all), but the DJ’s interaction was quite annoying at times. • The electric shuttle-carts were a bit of a nuisance, though we appreciate that for such a large property they’re a welcomed addition to some folks. The bad:  - The one and only 110v receptacle (on the hair dryer) was out of order, even though we reported this problem the third day of our stay (and two more times during the week) when our electric tooth brush ran out of battery. ~ We were expecting to have a 110v converter (same as in Jibacoa), and even the Sunwing’s room description stated there was one on each room.  - The balcony door was very hard to open and close, and it even fell of its track in one occasion. ~ Putting it back on its track was the only problem that was fixed (after reporting it) the very same day.  - We found this vacation overprized overall, definitely not what we expected for the price …and one more good thing (quite exceptional actually), was dealing with Trip Central  There you have it Jessica, we trust you’ll find our review honest and helpful. Good hotel for families

I like this hotel. I traveled with 3 kids.It’s a bery clean place Food is basic, I think they need to change the chef. However, we were never hungry. Amazing beautiful clean white beach! Just amazing!

Beautiful beach location

Overall we totally enjoyed our stay. The beach and pool were lovely with lots of chairs available. We ate at 2 a la carte restaurants and found the food good (not excellent) and enjoyed the buffet for variety. The resort was not too busy at the time so there were fairly quiet times in the buffet to relax and enjoy your meal. Our room was large and had everything we needed but found the accommodations a bit dated and in need of some repair. This was not an issue for us but might be for some trave [... read more]llers.

Bad rooms

Rooms have more concerns we found Roaches Mosquitos, Mold and bed bugs in our room 3519 Disappointed that the hotel was listed as 4.5 stars. It should have been listed as 3 the most. The beach was good. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Food supposed to be available at The Grill 24 hours but that was not working. Food at the regular buffet restaurant was Okay and the staff were very accommodating but almost same food everyday lunch and dinner. First day we found 2 beach towels in room but after that it was very hard to replace beach towels The rooms if the air conditioning was not turned on, smelled very musty and so were the blankets. The telephone in the room did not work could not call friend in another room or front desk if you needed help. Hotel is Not recommended.

Amazing beach!

This resort was beautiful, very comfortable and pleasant overall. Things that stood out was the beach (breathtakingly beautiful), The night entertainment was off the hook, they are talented at what they do (loved the Micheal Jackson tribute and the international dance show were the top ones). the entertainment team was great but Lisandra and Adrian were top notch quality people. The person that def made all this trip well worth it was the beach bartender Armando, and the burger guys (sorry I for [... read more]got their names). They gave us a 5 start treatment, I would come back just because of them. but def the overall customer service is terrible, when we got there they could not find our reservation because their system was down. the girl at the front made us feel terrible and just said oh well give you the room for one night and see when the systems come back. They did not tell us anything else, we had to figure everything out on our own and no one had the correct information. it was 50/50 the chance that you would get the right info lol. Do not come here for the food, customer service or service but come here to meet some golden human beings who truly care and love what they do. but most of all this beach is truly a dream.

Memories paraiso

The room had insects. I found cockroach in the desk's drawers three times. There are also lots of mosquitoes. Also they don't change the sheets / towels daily. I have nothing else to say...no need 200 characters
