Nice resort but too remote

Very modern resort, some buildings require a lot of walking uphill to get to your room, I had to change rooms one time because after 3 days it's extremely exhausting. The food is good but no Costa Rican food except a couple things here and there in the buffet... the ocean is what you would expect in Costa Rica but that's not why people go to Costa Rica. Not a 5 Star Resort

I would probably give it 4 stars. Mostly based on the food. It was such a disappointment. I mean, how can you screw up hashbrowns? But they re-fried them so many times to try and not waste it that they ended up with a hard and cardboard tasting product. The variety of the buffet was not great either. The restaurants were ok, with the habachi table in the Japanese restaurant and the Italian restaurant being the best options. I would have reserved the hibachi table twice if I knew the other [... read more] options weren't that great. Although the hotel said they were 3 years old, the rooms seemed outdated. The housecleaning service was inconsistent. They forgot to give us back towels the one time we asked them to be changed, the turn down service was anytime between 7-930 pm, and the floors weren't cleaned each day, which was obvious since the floors were tiled. I still had a good time in Costa Rica, the warmth and the surroundings were beautiful! However, if you're looking for clear blue waters and white sand, this place is not for you. The sand was nice enough for me and although the water was not clear, it was still a nice temperature to swim in. I did not use the hotel's recommended excursion company, but used Alex on the Beach instead. They were cheaper and their service was much better. On the two excursions we did with them, there were only 4 of us on the tour, so it was practically a private tour! This was awesome on our Nicaragua tour, especially getting through the many many passport checks when we went through the border. We got through in less than 15 mins. While others who were on the busier tours, had to wait much longer, since they had to wait for all 30-40 passengers to go through the same checks over and over again. I would definitely visit Costa Rica again, but would not come to this resort again.

Awesome resort

The entire resort is surrounded by a tropical jungle. It is perfectly laid out on the side of the mountain. Restaurants and food were top notch. Resort itself was only 3- 4 years’ old. Rooms were very modern and clean. Very little walking required in resort.

Awesome resort

This resort is the best one that we have been to on our forth trip to Costa Rica, the service, food and hospitality was excellent during our stay. Except for the last night we had dinner at the Buffett restaurant, the cook behind the seafood grill was very rude and miserable. Maybe he was having a bad day but he should have left at home. The only thing was that the Air conditioning was not able to shut off when we pressed off, it would automatically turn on after a few minutes, they did try t [... read more]o fix this problem three times but I guess this one was an auto mode no matter what setting you entered. Over all we had a great time and the grounds are beautiful. The location of the hotel is surrounded by rainforest and we got to see three out of four kinds of monkeys. Thanks Dreams for a great week, we are planning to return in the near future.

Most beautiful Resort we stayed at ever.

Dreams was an absolutely beautiful resort. The pools are endless and surrounded by beautiful lounges with comfy cushions. The pools are set up in such a way that you have a lot of options for privacy. Lots of options for kids at kids club and kids pool that close to the other pools. Food was excellent. The sushi restaurant was excellent. The Italian was very very good as well. Many options and you never felt like you didn't find something amazing to eat. Gift shop was great. Many bars an [... read more]d a night club. Staff are very friendly and had great options if it rained. One night movie night was moved inside and it was on a huge screen in the conference centre. Spa was really expensive. Beach was nice and well cared for. Room service was available everywhere even though it didn't say that on the website. The only real downside was the resort is very far from everything else.

POO-rah VEE-dah

PURA VIDA "Pure Life" well defined for sure. They say that a lot in Costa Rica and for good reason. In short its an AMAZING place to spend quality time with your family. We decided to go in late June, it's their rainy season but Guanacaste apparently is not so rainy. A few days with rain lasting anywhere from 10 min. to an hour and at times raining while the sun was out. All around no big deal. In my opinion the food was too good; excellent well presented, and suited for any palate. The excursions, really good, a little pricey but all around great deal. I would caution to watch your wallet. They prescribe to the 3 foot rule, If your within arms reach your given a sales pitch to a; Hammocks, wooden bowls, pencils etc. The children are poor and they make crickets and heart shaped art pieces from palm leaves, I didn't want to be a heartless bastard so I took lots of $1.00US bills and freely gave them some money for their efforts. Sad, no one should be hungry especially in 2017. That said ... Amazing place, I generally have a rule not to visit the same place twice, but in this case I will return for sure.

First all inclusive experience! Fantastic!

This lovely, well maintained hotel is built into the hills with balcony views over the beautiful grounds, many crystal clear pools meandering through the flowering foliage. All meals and restaurants were fine, but the breakfast buffet was outstanding! The shows and activities were many and varied. One could do many things or just relax by the pool...Perfect setting for a multi generational family.

Beautiful Resort

The hotel room/property/restaurants/pools were very well maintained and clearly a 5 star. Food was delicious, my friend and I are vegetarian and there was a huge variety of options. Beach was not the greatest however that was expected. The monkeys on the resort every day was the best part!

Lovely resort

Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Dreams Las Mareas. However, the food was a hit and miss. One evening our beef was so chewy and red that we could not even complete eating our meal. We also found some of the appetizer portions extremely small. We also had ordered room service one morning at 5:00 a.m. only to have the eggs arrive as if they had been sitting out all evening. It was horrible!

Gorgeous resort!

The resort was beautiful and the service was very good. There was a great variety of excellent food and unlimited visits to the a la carte restaurants with no reservations required. The pools were gorgeous, but sometimes a bit noisy and crowded. We saw monkeys right from the infinity pool that overlooks the beach. The beach was ok, but the ocean was very cold during our first week and snorkeling was not an option. The check-in was the best and fastest we've ever had. We had a swim-up room, which [... read more] was wonderful. We usually had the pool entirely to ourselves. The only other drawback was the location - it was far to travel for some excursions, but close to Nicaragua, where we went for a really great day trip. Overall, we had a fantastic time.

Beautiful Property

Great service. Beautiful property. The food was adequate at times but there were a few terrible meals. Friendly and accommodating staff. The tours being sold off the beach were about half the price of those offered in the resort. The bay is beautiful

Truly a total relaxing resort

Dreams Las Mareas is a beautiful resort with great, friendly staff. For the size of the resort it was never an issue for seating around the many pools or having to wait for a seat at one of the 5 a la carte restaurants. The only downfall was that it wasn't close to any towns to shop and explore.

Everything we hoped for.

Dreams did not disappoint. We wanted some isolation and that is what we got. Everything was exceptional. Sure, some of the chairs around the pools were taken early but we never had problems finding some. The food was exceptional and the nightly entertainment was exactly that, entertaining. The beach was beautiful and we'll maintained. Sand as far as you could see and great for swimming. I really liked to be able to stand on the beach, loòk left and right, and not see another resort. A Little Piece of Paradise

It is a well maintained property located in a beautiful setting. Their eye for detail was evident in terms of the upkeep of the grounds, the pools & the restaurants. The staff was always smiling, very pleasant & helpful. The lighting on the property was poor which was a safety hazard. We didn't have any hot water in the shower for the 1st 5 days of our 7 day stay. Amazing resort

Outstanding food and service. The pool is amazing. We really appreciated the Preferred section and all the restaurants. Yoga on the beach in the morning is very nice. Would go back anytime and I would refer my best friends there.

Great resort! 5 stars rated in all!

The greatest client experience i have never had. Excellent food, wonderful pools, nice location, extraordinary staff, great site! No negative points to say. I dream about living a future Dreams hotel experience soon!

Costa Rica Experience

Dreams Las Mareas was definitely a fantastic resort. Zero complaints, very cozy, delicious food, spacious rooms. Definitely in my top 3 destinations globally! I would return in a heartbeat! Staff was amazing too. Although we booked just 3 weeks ahead of time, we realized we might not get double beds in the room but the hotel upgraded us free of charge to a swim out room to accommodate. Although the upgrade was great, it doesn't bare directly on the review - it's the fact that the staff alw [... read more]ays wanted to ensure you were comfortable and enjoying yourself. They went above and beyond. We especially enjoyed the fact that it was a completely non-smoking resort - very rare.

Great resort

Grounds and rooms were beautiful, the staff very friendly. The food was good but not amazing. The bar tenders Tony and Orlando were so good at their job and made it seem effortless and always with such warm smiles!

Fantastic resort

From the greeting we received upon arrival to our departure when leaving everything in between was just fantastic. We loved the food and the pools where just beautiful. They did a great job with blending the resort with the beautiful surroundings. Beautiful Location!!

This resort was amazing! Food was great in all the a la carte restaurants and the buffet was decent as well. Drink service was a bit slow but other than that I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit Costa Rica!
