Amazing Resort

We were at the Royalton Riviera in Mexico again this year. Last year for 7 days. This year 10 days. Next year 2 weeks. What am amazing resort. Restaurants galore, Italian, seafood, Indian, steak, Mexican , Texan, Japanese, buffet etc...The most wonderful staff, many pools, great rooms. On & on & on. My one recommendation is book up to the Diamond Club. That will make your time there great!

Still a good resort

I would rate this a 4.5 star overall. Food for the most part was great. They changed over the Mediterranean restaurant to Indian Restaurant called Raj. That is a great choice that is seldom seen and resorts and the food was amazing. Far better than the previous one. I like the fact that no reservations required for a la cartes unless you book the Tepanyaki Cook Table. Disappointing that they are no longer serving shrimp at the main buffet. The rooms and grounds are starting to show signs o [... read more]f aging but are maintained very well. Disappointing that beach was unusable due to jellyfish.

Excellent family resort

The royalton reviera cancun was a great vacation spot. The pools and the food were excellent. The location close to the airport was great especially with kids. Variety of food was one of the best I have experienced. Usually you get the same food 5 different ways, but here each restaurant was different ( our favorite was the Indian restaurant). On the downside - there was jellyfish in the ocean that made swimming all week impossible. Also they do not guarantee 2 beds for 4 people in one r [... read more]oom - seemed strange. In the end they gave us 2 cots which worked out, but odd. I recommend the diamond club if you can. Reservations and a few extras made it more enjoyable.

Wonderful Resort

When we arrived we were upgraded to Diamond club. Wonderful clean rooms, food was beyond what we expected and the pools were all wonderful. Definitely would recommend this resort. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful Time at the Royalton

Stayed at the Royalton Feb 5-12/2020 with husband and two children under 4. Resort was well kept and cared for. Staff were very kind and helpful. Check in was a breeze. Beach unfortunately had seaweed which is expected at this time but kids still enjoyed the sand. Splash park for kids is huge. Pools are amazing. Food was okay - nothing too special but lots to choose from at buffet. Loved the ZEN restaurant - Miguel was a wonderful cook. Hunters steak house was delicious as well. Great resort

Clean hotel, amazing food and service. Beach was fabulous with lots of choices of beds with excellent butler service. So many pools to choose from but want to get there early for a lounge chair. Excellent butler service!

Good times at the Royalton

Overall a great experience for a family of four - kids 14 and 8 (didn't use kids/teen club) in a modern resort close to the Cancun airport. Pools were great - a few different options and all heated. Beach - sand was beautiful, water was hit and miss due to being murky on most days. Excellent service all around - did have an issue with our original "ocean view" room which lacked "ocean view" in building nine but this was resolved quickly and ended up in building 7 facing the pool which was a b [... read more]it noisy at night until about 11pm. Great experience at Zen and Taj (Indian). Would have been nice to have some other lunch options - other than Nibbles/burgers and the buffet (pizza place and food truck wasn't open every day).

Royalton Riveria Cancun

Overall a good resort. I would return however I would probably visit other resorts before returning. I found that if you were not in the Diamond Club you were limited to certain things. For example there were 2 restaurants that we did not have access to. They advertise that there are 7 restaurants however 2 are in the diamond club area. Then 2 restaurants close every night for cleaning / turn over so now you are down to having only 3 restaurants to choose from per night. More so you cannot make  [... read more]a reservation but if you are a diamond club member you can make a reservation. Every night we would wait 1 hour for a table unless you want to eat at 5 pm every night. Not cool. Other than than that the pools were great, lots of activities going and the entertainment staff did a fantastic job. The beach has that invasive seaweed along the shore so I would not recommend the resort as a beach destination. That goes for most of the hotels along that strip. They need to get the seagulls under control around the pool. During lunch from 12 - 2 pm the birds hover your seating area waiting for a child to drop something. They should put some fake owls up or something to deter the birds. Sunwing was fantastic. As soon as I got off the plan and exited customs they were waiting for me with direction on where to go and which bus to take. Very organized. The resort is only 15 min from the airport which was very convenient. Flying our of Hamilton was great. Royalton Riviera Maya

We stayed over the holidays for New Years. Service was awful. Food was good. Facilities were clean and okay. We had our daughter who had food restrictions (Gluten) and they made it VERY difficult for us. We even upgraded to Diamond Club and that did NOT improve the situation. Waste of money... never going to Royalton branded hotel again

Amazing experience

We absolutely loved our time at the resort. All of the staff was amazing. The food was great and fresh at every meal. The afternoon and evening entertainment was great, the resort had to work with lots of rainy weather and did their best to make it work. The gym is comparable to upper class chain of gym( Goodlife etc). Angelica in the gym was amazing. Take one of her classes.

One week in Royalton Riviera

The trip was a good one overall. There were some things that we really liked for example the hotel itself and the rooms. The drinks were premium. We were upgraded to the Hideaway section, which is adults only. The negatives were the location of the hotel and the beach. The hotel is located in a marshy area, so there was a terrible smell, lots of mosquitoes and no outside view. The beach was dirty water, muddy, lots of seaweed. Long lineups, hours of waiting etc. The buffet food was ok, very repeatitive, nothing special . Overall 4 stars out of 5. We expected better.

Great resort!

My husband and 2 year old girl just came back from visiting Royalton and had a great time. Great for kids with an awesome splash pad, nice pools and our room was excellent. ( Presidential Suite). The restaurants were decent with the Indian restaurant by far being our favourite

Beautiful resort

The resort was beautiful and layed out well. There was something for all ages, gender etc. The swim up rooms were amazing! The only issue we had was work being done on the room above us and it took quite a bit of effort and time to have our room switched and there was no compensation. Disappointed by that but loved everything else. Food was fantastic!

Better the 1st time !

Hello, This was our 2nd time at The Royalton Riveria Cancun..the hotel and grounds are beautiful, the service and quality of food however has gone downhill. Our second night we went to Hunter Steak house..food was cold and had to ask 3 times for a drink, Dined at Armadillo an hour later got violently ill .. throwing up and diarrhea. Scoops coffee bar was excellent, room service great, and martini bar was good except they cannot make a decent margarita if their life depended on it. Amazing Resort... definitely five star!

Was upgraded for free because we were celebrating our two year anniversary! Room was absolutely amazing! Jacuzzi in our room .. huge patio with ocean views and another Jacuzzi on the patio. two TV's with 24 hour room service!

Nice clean resort lacking in some departments

The property is beautiful. Rooms, lobby, public washrooms and pool area are clean and inviting. The mosquitos are fast moving and hungry at this time of year so be prepared. We were disappointed that there was barely any shrimp, lobster or crab available. None in the buffet and only a few options at a la cartes for shrimp and they skimp out. Always got what we wanted at other 5 star but this one is lacking. Had to call 2 days to get mini bar service and to get our room service plates picked up a [... read more]s the raccoon like creatures will spread any leftovers all over the floors. A la cartes are nice and buffet has good variety.

Great resort

the hotel and service was great the pool was also great, the beach was a disaster full os sea weeds we could not walk on beach as we alwais like to do. the other disappointing `point was the very limited choice of wine included in the all inclusive package. there was only one choice of house wine very cheap that i could not drink. what i don't understand is that the all inclusive package allows guest to sit at the bar and drink all kinds of liquor all day long and yet limit only one choic [... read more]e of wine at any restaurant. I an not a drinker but I enjoy having a glass of decent wine with my dinner. with your current system that requires extra payment. If the company is concern about cost, why not limit the amount of alcohol consumed at bars and increase the choice of wine in the menu for the all inclusive package?

Most Amazing Resort

Most Amazing Resort - 3rd time for us and it just keeps getting better and better. The most amazing staff all around - everyone is on their A game to impress and make your experience an awesome one. Food at the buffet could be better. I found myself eating pasta each evening. Breakfast selection was awesome. Restaurants - amazing. Every thing is so clean. Like I said - 3rd time there. Most other resorts - the wear and tear shows - not at this resort - still looks and appears brand new.  [... read more] The most amazing clean pools and beaches. The beach has a lot of seaweed - but that is down to nature - the staff work hard to try to stay ahead of it - but that is some challenge!!

Lovely Resort

I attended this resort for a destination wedding. The grounds were lovely and the resort was very clean. The service was very good for the most part. As the resort was so large, and there were so many people there, sometimes the service seemed a bit slow, but understandably so. I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the beach, due to all of the seaweed that washed up onto the shore constantly, and felt that there could have been more resources dedicated to keeping it clean. We were unable to [... read more] use the beach until the last 2-3 days of our 5 day trip. The pools were lovely. Be prepared to be charged a sanitation fee of approximately $1.50 per day, something we were not aware of prior to our trip. Overall, a nice resort, if you like larger resorts.

A wonderful week in the sunshine!

Everything you could need or want at this resort. The staff are so helpful and welcoming. A really great week. Ramero, Salvador and Yvette awesome! Coffee Cafe and ice cream bar staff rock. Some seaweed on the beach but to be expected in May. Pools clean and entertainment great.
