Fantastic Resort

We returned him from this resort Dec 13 it was a fantastic place for our family vacation. The grounds and hotel are kept in excellent shape. All the staff were fantastic from the groundskeepers to the hotel management. The etertainment team was exceptional. I will be visiting this resort again and Its highly recommended others do too. Needs TLC

Nice staff and huge land . The resort is very big and spacious. The beach is very long, great for walks. There is very little algea. However, there is lots of garbage laying around , broken chairs along the whole beach . Nobody seems To be cleaning up. The rooms are simple and clean. The eating area is fine. The food selection is very simple and missing breakfast items. Bread was stale and fruit loops was only choice of cereal. Not good for adults or children. I am lactose intolerant  [... read more]and cannot eat gluten , and there were no other choices or substitute. At buffet, we had very similar choices for breakfast, lunch and supper. Lacked variety. À la carte restaurant were good. Ambiance was decent. Not too loud making it a quiet vacation. Be aware of deffective / demagnetized room cards. We had to go To reception 3 times To get new cards.

Super relaxing!

The food options were not the greatest, not much for people with intolerances and I got sick. They gave us keys that didn’t work three times in a row our first night. Other than those things but was a lovely peaceful stay.

Great food

The food was amazing! Staff was great! Only 1 option for 24 hr food, if youre hungry. Had to chase down for bottles of water in the rooms. Beach was nice. More of a relaxing resort, not recommended if you want to party at all. Would definitely go back to Cuba, trying a different reaort next time.

Beautiful Beach

The good: The beach was stunning. Beach chairs were hard to find most days but luckily I brought our own. The staff amazing. Pool bar staff were incredible and snack bar staff were lovely too. The bad: food was the worst I have ever had in Cuba. Weekend maids did nothing but hide in corners on their phones. No towels. And I got a chemical burn from the pool. Beach bar was run by mostly women which is fantastic. Used to only be men who could bar tend in Cuba. However they were also on their pho [... read more]nes too much and rude when you wanted a drink. Mikes cafe had amazing coffee but most staff there acted like you were bothering them until you gave attitude back. Bus ride was way too long and they offered too many beer to the young kids on the bus, causing us to stop for “pee” breaks several times. I won’t be back.

Great resort!

Good food, attentive and friendly staff, great entertainment. Everything is close in the central building: buffet/dining restaurant, bar, coffee bar, main lobby/lounge, reception, a la carte restaurants, gym, pool table, theatre etc

Nice resort but very poor lighting

It was one of the nicer resorts for Cuba but for it only being a couple of years old it could use a little TLC especially the lights along the paths. There were also a couple of days when the lights were out in our hallways. This is a safety issue which we advised the front desk and our Transat rep but not much was done. I believe they were short lightbulbs. I understand they only get supplies once a week. We were there at the end of November 2019 so I am hopeful it is fixed. Some of the items are very difficult for them to get even if they have the money. The Transat rep was amazing and very friendly. Just be aware that Cuba is in the process of changing their currency so do not buy too much. The rep told us of the money changing and to ensure we changed it back to Canadian before we left Cuba. She forgot to tell us to change it before you leave the hotel the duty free at the airport will not accept it and you will have to stand in line to do this after you get your boarding pass so save yourself the headache and do this before you leave the hotel. The beach and sun was great but to my friends disappointment they ran out of red wine half way through the week. Loved Mike's cafe. If you want to bring some items from home I suggest tooth paste, tooth bush, shampoo, soaps, sanitary napkins and tampons, fishing line, leaders, hooks and school supplies. Overall we had a great time and have been to Cuba many many times love the people

The best resort that I have ever been to

Beautiful resort. Although it's huge everything was practically perfect. The rooms were cleaned every day, they also change towels and bed sheets daily. The staff was very nice and helpful. There were variety of food to take from the buffet restaurant and they were bringing things accordingly to the needs. Every thing was nicely and esthetically served. My husband only complained about the pork and beef that it was not very juicy. The highlight of the trip was the catamaran excursion and swimmi [... read more]ng with the dolphins which I would recommend. The dolphins were kept in ethical enclosures out at sea. I also enjoyed the daily evening entertainment. The actors were amazing.

Great beach resort

We had an issue the first night upon arrival where there were no lights outside on the cobblestone to get to our room and this was reported but never fixed all week. Luckily, we found a shortcut and had a flashlight on our phone that we used to walk in the dark until almost to the front lobby. The 3rd night before our departure, the hotel ran out of red wine. For two nights, we had no lights in our hallway on the 3rd floor but the 1st and 2nd floor HD lights so it was reported to our Air  [... read more]Transat rep and it was repaired. The one beach snack bar was not open for the full 7 days of our trip so we only went once to the other snack bar but they ran out of plates and we had to wait for someone to walk on the beach and get more and they were just cleaned under running water, we did not see any soap being used. They should use paper or cardboard plates for the beach. Our rep was wonderful and made sure our room safe and air conditioning worked, which they did. We had a few burnt out lightbulbs and when I asked the housekeeper about it, she took one out a nearby table lamp and replaced it. I reported the balcony light being out all week but it never got changed. They might have had a shortage of light bulbs but we made do. There was seaweed on the beach and they had a sign saying they do not clean it up as they let Mother Nature take care of it. Overall, it was a great vacation with great sunshine and no rain all week.

Great cozy resort , very welcoming!

I found the staff on the resort very friendly and hospitable .. the few minor concerns that we raised were addressed very quickly . The food was plentiful , lots of variety to choose from ; although they ran out of red wine mid way through the week 😐 The facilities in the resort itself ; rooms , lobby area , etc were kept very tidy . The weather was perfect , great week👍🏼

Great place to go.

My g/f and I were here for a week in November. The resort was well kept, the beach was beautiful. The food is like anywhere in Cuba, not fantastic but we always found something to eat so that wasn't a big issue. What made the trip great was the staff, everyone from the maids to the bartenders to the serving staff, all very welcoming and kind. We would definitely recommend this resort to others.

Not recommended if you want to eat

If you want to lose weight...come here...food is repetitive with limited selection even by Cuban standards.... first in line at dinner...and the food which should have been hot was cold! Coffee maker is great to have in your room...too bad there was no coffee available to put in it(I gave up after 3 requests) Minibar....not stocked... apparently there was "a problem at the factory".... Lol... apparently the white wine, beer, pop and towel factory must have been on strike as well! Rooms not pr [... read more]operly cleaned. Beware using resort store...billed on 2 separate credit cards despite paying cash for purchase as I was told the POS terminal did not accept both of my cards. Pros Grounds are very well kept Gardener was very pleasant and friendly as was the pool bar staff and generally all employees (except front desk) Beach was nice, however only 1 of 3 beach bars were ever opened(oops my wife made me add that) Conclusion Yes it's Cuba.... however there's no excuse why minimal quality standards cannot be met! To Management: Don't promote what you cannot provide!

Amazing Resort

A Great Hotel very Modern, and Clean all over the Room to Great food very Nice Swimming pools, the Staff was very Friendly! and Beaches just Amazing the Beach Bar the drinks and the Food at the Beach!

Spectacular Beach and resort!!

This resort is spectacular, beautiful beaches, great staff, stunning views. Staff went out of their way to please. Rooms are clean, fresh towels and Beach towels in the room. Food was good. Typical for Cuba.

Beautiful Resort

This resort was beautiful, a lot bigger than I was expecting, grounds was well maintained, Rooms were clean and adequately sized , however the beds could use a bit of upgrading in the comfort department. Grounds very scenic, & extremely spacious. Beach front was great lots of real estate to lounge on. The condo hotel concept I found to be unique. For somewhere to relax, unwind, quiet & peaceful it’s a 10. For an all inclusive I’d say they delivered. 24 hour bar & 24 hour snack restaurant - breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. Yes we are going again this time for a longer stay. Word of advice-Get the all inclusive, book all excursion B4 U arrive, otherwise, it will cost U more, because they seriously over inflate there $ by almost 37%. If U don't need to spend Dont. Tip in your own currency Don't convert otherwise U lose.

Great Resort

We had a great time. The service at this resort was way beyond expectations from the chamber boy who cleaned our room to the waiters at the bars and buffets. Everything at the resort was really clean and well maintained. The pools were beautiful and the beach amazing. Plan to return as soon as feasible.

No mosquitoes!

We had a great time, stayed from Nov 4 to Nov 11. We were lucky we had a good weather, no rain, just the last day was windy, big waves but the water was still very warm. The beach is breathtaking, we enjoy it so much! Food is good, big variety of fish, cheese, meat, bakery. Room is big and everything working, we always had hot water, no problem. Very friendly hardworking people, don't even expect tips, ones I had to run behind to give it! Night shows are OK. Wi-Fi working good, 1 hour free per day. Couple things I would improve: 1. Air Conditioning in the buffet, never working, only on the first day was on; very hard to stay without in this hot weather. 2. On the beach, on the bottom of the roof shade you can badly hit your head by nails, be very careful, I hope it will be fixed soon! 3 The bridge to the beach is about to break down, we just try to avoid it, getting to/out the beach from the side, but one day they have to change it no way! 4. Bus service, panoramic double deck, is unacceptable! No schedule, they always say it's coming every 40-45 min. We were waiting 2 hours! On the way back, after 3 hours of waiting, it's never show up, we had to take taxi. Hotel receptionist told us it's not their business but it makes our stay, they should differently do something with this. 5. Ice cream station was opened only once in 7 days! I would build small beach restaurant special for lunch, they do very tasty shrimps grill, chicken and sea food but no place to sit down! Any way, we enjoyed our stay, and big thank you to everyone who work hard to make our vacation unforgettable!

Disappointed

This was my 14th time to Cuba...and unfortunately the worst experience. Let me start by saying that I LOVE Cuba, and typically I can't say enough about the staff, the food and the property but this time was different. My friend and I traveled in October 2019. It was low season so we were aware that a pool, a la carte restaurant and number of buildings would be closed. There were supposedly only 200 guests at the resort. I'll start with the positives...a la carte dining was VERY good. Food wa [... read more]s tasty and well presented. The servers in the a la carte were excellent. My only complaint would be that it was always in the same restaurant with the theme changing each night. I have never experienced that before. The rooms were clean and made up consistently. The mini bar, however was not restocked each day. We were given 2 beer in bottles which we could not open. I have never encountered beer not in easy accessible cans. A staff member delivering beer and pop did open a bottle for us, by using the edge of the dresser, but that beer was never replaced the rest of the week...neither was the pop consumed. We found the staff unfriendly. We had a waitress in the pool snack bar "roll her eyes" at us when we asked if breakfast was still being served 30mins before lunch service started. We then waited and order lunch when she said no. Sandwiches that we were served were on saucers with only a few french fries...when we asked for more fries we again received another eye roll. We wouldn't have minded too much, however the Cuban tourists staying at the hotel were served meals on full size plates. The one pool that was open has very dirty. Murky water. Tons of missing tiles. Debris floating in the water. Not once, all week, was there ever anyone cleaning the pool. As a pool owner I found this troubling. There was also a lid missing from a floor drain, in the shallow end, which was a potential serious accident/ankle turning issue. Lastly, was the Lobby bar staff...Cubans were always served first. Bar staff seldom smiled and nor made eye contact when taking orders, even though we were tipping them. The pool bar staff was very good, however. Sadly, as a travel agent, I would never recommend and Ocean property and will never return to this resort. I have always had good experiences with Melia and Iberostar.

Beautiful Vacation

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this Beautiful resort. Everything was great. Service was great, people were lovely and the food was good. I love Cayo Santa Maria the beaches are so beautiful. We look forward to returning again. Thank you to all the wonderful staff who make this resort one of a kind

Nice but need love

i have to say the hotel is nice but miss maintenance. The pool was green all week damage with weed they didn't do nothing. The path to the beach everyday was one more damage plank at the end of week was dangerous. Service by leidy at the buffet and rachel lobby make our vacation more plesant thank to them. Beach amazing and pleny of palapas so was convenient.I will not go back i still enjoy the week and will not refer my costumers or friends to go there
