Amazing resort

Rooms clean and good service Amazing place and i will recommend this nice hotel resort to my friends and my relativls the wheather was amazing 👏 . And I would like to visit the same resort. Thank you so much

Nothing But Praise!

This resort is amazing. Every encounter with the staff was pleasant! (Note that it matters to me, but every employee, without exception, wore their masks 100% of the time. Even the lifeguard sitting alone). The grounds and the buildings are immaculate. Food was great! This is one place that we said we would actually go back to.

Everything was perfect !

Nice grounds, gorgeous, spacious, new rooms. Full bar in room. Staff wore masks ALL THE TIME, guests were very much aware and obedient of the sanitary rules, in most part. Always as few dummies that you can easily avoid. Staff super friendly. Not the best hotel for Scuba Diving. But beach was nice.

Rui Dunmar opened it self up to more of latin amirica than in previous times. I was a mice mix of people. The beach was excellent and cleaned of sea weed (sargasus) daily at around 6-7 am. For those who are "pineapple friendly" there is a long stretch of the beach at the end of main beach. The pool bars are nice, how ever make sure to pick a spot and stick with it as it can get crowded/ full (limit is 20 people max). How ever the disco is closed as well as some of the restaurants when i was there. The rooms and enemies are spotless. Expect to spend some cash though as everything is marked up (due to covid and lower than normal attendance). Coco bongo club and synore frog are open so book early.

Nice resort

Very clean resort and overall great food. Staff was great except for some of the front desk employees Pools and beach were excellent. Shoot out to the entertainment staff. Nighttime entertainment was also very good

Disappointing, not a 5 star

I am sad to say Riu Dunamar was a big disappointment. The hotel is woefully understaffed and over worked but they aimed to please, here is a quick run through of our family vacation. We are traveling as a family but had our rooms on different wings of the hotel and different floors, this should have been a no brainer as i requested adjoining rooms. The elevator location and the limited number of them is awful, I have back issues and walk with a cane and had specifically asked to be close to an  [... read more]elevator but was over 100 yards away, I guess i should be grateful that i wasn't at the end of the hallway which would of doubled my walk. The hallways to your room are dark and dingy , long wide hallways with only a occasional fire extinguisher for decoration, reminded me of school not a 5 star hotel. The rooms we were given were nothing to write home about, however they were clean and the bed was comfortable, mini bar stocked. This hotel is new (2 years) so everything is in great condition. The buffet is extremely repetitive and after 3 days just down right boring. You do not need a reservation at the 4 restaurants but that doesn't mean your getting in , you will have to line up and hope your one of the lucky ones as they are small and only open 3 hours. None of the restaurants are full service and you will have to go to a mini buffet to get some portion if not all of your meal. They do not restock the buffet or the restaurant buffets in a timely fashion and we experienced that if your not there when it opens you could be out of luck of your favorite dish. There is no coffee bar or room service, premium cocktails are non existent, pool service consists of one guy with a push cart covering 4 pool areas. This hotel would appear to cater to families whose parents neglect and let their children run wild throughout the resort, when we were there the hotel was full, i would say about 1/3 if not more of the guest were children. There is absolutely no quiet or adult areas in this resort except for your room. Our experience was the main buffet was as noisy a school cafeteria, the so called restaurants not much better, very few people dressed for dinner and I believe this sets the tone for the evening. The evening entertainment was varied from boring to ok but after 9:00 your on your own. My entire family had some sort of illness from mild to severe, we did not leave the resort or eat elsewhere which makes me question food quality and hygiene. From my experience here i will have reservations about booking any Riu Hotel in the future, I am a seasoned traveler and have stayed at many 4 star hotels and some 3 1/2 stars in mexico that would put this so call Riu 5 star to shame. So would i return ? No for the following reasons, this hotel is not handicapped friendly, food was 3 star boring, no adult or quiet areas. I have always felt that a 5 star resort should have a wow factor, all you'll find here is a yawn!

Great resort!

We really enjoyed this resort, the food was fantastic, the beaches were nice and the pools were warm. We really enjoyed the individual sun shades that we could open or close as we wanted. We had a room with 2 double beds for the 4 of us but the beds were pushed together which was odd. On the first day our water was never replenished in the fridge, we tried calling the front but they never answer the phone, I had also noticed while seated in the lobby that the phone just rings and rings and t [... read more]he staff do not answer. We went on an excursion to isla mejeures which was a lot of fun! Given the resort is secluded it was not a short trip to get anywhere so we opted not too as we were with a 3 year old and an 8 year old. The kids loved the water park however the fact that they don’t have a bathroom in that area to use was quite a pain as it was quite a distance to the nearest facility. The kids water park does not allow drinks in, we even got in trouble for having soda, this makes it really hard to hang out in for any length of time given how hot it is. The pool bbq was amazing, they should offer some kind of fruit or salad to have with it, the first day with burgers, fries and chicken was ok, but after the 3rd day We were feeling malnourished, We did end up going to the buffet, but a fruit or veg would have been nice with the bbq. The photographers going around the resort were a nice touch, but became very pesky always looking at us to take photos, at the end the we priced out the packages and they are completely insane which is too bad. If they lowered the prices all of the hours that the photographer spent taking photos wouldn’t be such a waste. Our room was on the 4th floor above the restaurants around dinner time we noticed our room smelt like fish which was a little gross. We had the thermostat set to 21 at night, but it seemed much warmer in the room, the system would turn off and on but we would all wake up sweating in the night. On the last day we paid to extend our room until our 6 pm departure, check out being at 12 we wanted to enjoy the last hours at the pool and know our belongings were in the room and we could shower before we left. After we paid and went to the room, we went up to the room and the room key didn’t work so we had to go back down again to get the key programmed.. it was never extended. The resort is excellent for couples who don’t mind kids or people traveling with small kids as it’s easy to contain them, my 8 year old was getting restless on the 3 rd day as the big water slides were a little intimidating for her and the small ones were a little too small.. all and all it was a good resort, but could use a few things.

Sunny Days

We spent all of our time down on the beach, because as my Husband likes to say we have pools at home. Bar service and a beautiful beach for walking and getting a tan. The room was very modern and kept clean. All the food and drinks were great. Liked hanging in the sports bar, although no hockey games were on.

Spectacular vacation retreat

This hotel is amazingly clean and the staff very helpful, from the first welcome to addressing any concerns that may arise during your stay. We walked the entire grounds and not once did we notice anything seemingly out of place or untidy. You definitely will not be hungry or thirsty at this resort, from the well stocked fridge in the room to the several bars and restaurants, there is always something available to keep you hydrated or full. Great resort...!!!

The resort is fairly new 2017?) and this is reflected in the room décor and layout that we had. The grounds, pool and beach amenities were comparable or better than some other beach resorts that we have stayed at in the past. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The few requests that we had were promptly attended to and followed up for satisfactory resolution. The food was quite good although appearing a little repetitive to us at times.

Beautiful resort amazing service

Very clean, excellent service, beautiful beach. Restaurants were really good, and rooms were amazing. Public bathrooms always clean. Pools were always clean as well during the day people were constantly cleaning them. Beach was clean and very beautiful.

Exciting and So Much To Do and See !

My room was perfect! I loved the view. Bathroom was comfortable and shower felt nice before and after the day. The pools and buffet layout were perfect as well as the beach front! Sports bar was very much what I needed to catch the NBA Toronto Raptors Championship Finals!

Sooo Nice!!

RIU Dunamar is an amazing hotel. Had everything. It’s a newer hotel so everything was fresh and up to date. Service staff was wonderful. The entertainment was fantastic. Food incredible! The photography packages were outrageously priced. More than double what we paid for our wedding photos in Jamaica. The braiding skills at the salon were lacking but other than the cost of the photography and the salon everything else was a cut above. I would definitely recommend this resort!

Perfect family resort

This was our first time in Cancun. The hotel and staff are undeniably the best. Always respectful, quick and generous with their time. Our room was great and spacious. Food was delicious and more than enough for everyone. The only thing I would say about this hotel is there was not one pool left for adults. Even the pool bars had children in them. I am not interested to having other peoples children always around. I found with 4 Pools and water slides they could keep the Bar pools for adults  [... read more]only. Some times I found people who had too much to drink in these pools were not acting appropriately for children. And watching them jump in the pool bar was always scary a there were tables and stools hidden under water.

Super Resort

This new resort, Riu Dunamar, is a GEM... we have to say this resort was the cleanest, well kept resort. You do not have to reserve for the A la Carte restaurants which was very nice...people very friendly...they moved us to a the room next door to our family member with no fuss which we appreciated very much. Buffet was EXCELLENT . Only one thing bothered us and I read a few reviews with the same concern but I guess they do not take this problem seriously. ..they probably will when a kid will [... read more] get hurt and the way the swim up bar are designed, some kids will get hurt one day... our thoughts on this family oriented resort is that the 2 swim up bars should be ADULT ONLY. they have 5 pools on this resort. 3 pools for family. .2 swim up a for adult. But I guess they do not consider this since it was reported before me and nothing has changed. Other than that...all positive resort.

Great experience

Me and my girlfriend went on this trip both first time at an all inclusive resort. We Loved the experience. The Food was amazing, we tried out all the restaurants! Staff was very accommodating. Would return

Looks Great ?

This resort looks great ...the grounds are well kept including the beach and pool area. The public areas are well decorated and clean. The rooms are very disappointing for the fact they're very plain. The linens are cheap both quality and appearance. The beds are lumpy it was more comfortable to sleep on the lawn chair by the pool then the bed....Not joking ... ..However the buffet was great for fresh fish. For the a la carte restaurants I was not impressed that couple of them were partial b [... read more]uffet for appetizers. I particularly believe the point of going to the a la carte is to be served and not to serve yourself. This resort is not that old by any means but needs some improvements. Would not go back.

Second Here , love ❤️ it!

We loved returning to Riu Dunamar It was nice seeing many of the staff that were still working there: Rene pool bar is always happy to serve great drinks with a smile Max is always strolling around to party pool with his deink cart and he is simply the best! JC was has entertaining as last year We missed Olimpia so much :( Dolphin is such an amazing waiter , he will make sure you have a great evening every night!!! Five pools and a waterpark , what more can you ask for?! Nightclub on site is great! Entertainment is always good 😊 This resort is secluded and not on the strip but thats the best part for us. If you are going on excursion get your food out of bar fridges prepped in to go containers. Property is clean, A/C works and riu's pretty much look the same all around the world. Shopping on site , you can negotiate a bit off. Worse they can say is no. If ever theres a major problem you can talk to management and they are always willing to rectify the situation. If you go , visit isla mujeres by taxi or rental car. Eat some street tacos, go to MiA resort beach and bring a snorkel. Visit the local shops there instead of tourist area stores and help locals. Go early and spend the day its worth it!! See you again next time !!!

Nice but no 5 star

Just returned from The Riu Dunamar. Very nice resort but definitely not a 5 star resort. The staff was excellent as were the well kept grounds. The beach is a solid 8 of 10 if you dont mind the sewage smell and endless seaweed, but that's not a fault of the resort. The food was very good but predictable. The 3 restaurants were at best average. The entertainment was just that...entertaining but nothing that would wow you. Now for the not so good. There is no coffee maker or clocks in the very av [... read more]erage rooms. I would say a holiday inn express are a step above. There was no bath tub and the shower had a glass panel that faced into the room with no curtain. I do believe this is on purpose, so they are not used resulting in a large water saving. The Dunamar is quite out of the way so expect at least a 3+ hour ride to any excursion. There was to be 24 hour food at the sports bar but when we had to leave at 6am for an excursion there was nothing there but some hotdogs. The fridges were absolutely empty, with nothing else open. The water park is quite nice and is shared with the sister resort next door but be aware its closed on mondays. All in all a good place for families if the price is right

Beautiful resort all round

This is a large hotel resort and quite different from other Mexican resorts we have been to. Basically, everything is in one huge 4 story building. The design of the rooms and hallways is stark white which is very minimalist. Adding some colorways would give the public areas some style. Rooms were large and well furnished. In room liquor dispenser was nice. Our room was on the 4th floor, over the disco on the ground floor and some nights the thumping of the base kept us awake. The buffet resta [... read more]urant was great as was the Asian restaurant. The Italian restaurant and the Kulinarium were not great . The pools are beautiful, all 5 of them. I would have liked to see one pool designated adults only, as all the pools had kids playing. Plenty of loungers on the beach and around pools. Definitely a good family resort.
