Great resort for young families

The hotel is clean and the grounds are well kept. Our room was large, bright and cleaned daily. We enjoyed the a la carte restaurants. The Japanese restaurant is loud so avoid if you don't appreciate the loud clank of metal spatulas used as drum sticks continuously at 3 or 4 different tables at the same time. The pool is large and clean and well serviced with several Bars in and around it. It is hard to get chairs poolside. People are keen to put towels on the chairs early in the morning a [... read more]nd in some cases even the night before. The beach is small and hard to navigate due to shallow coral in the swimming area as well as rocks in most areas. The privilege beach is nicer and has a larger sandy area. Beach volleyball court is great. We did not use basketball court or tennis courts as they are far off at the front of the hotel. The privilege upgrade is great because it gets you access to a butler to book your restaurants which is super convenient. Most enjoyable for our family was the waterpark especially for kids under 10. They loved it and spent hours there every day. Of course the Jerk Chicken is hot and delicious!

Beautiful resort; halal food options available

This was a beautiful hotel; clean grounds and modern rooms. Everything was easily accessible. Room number 1426 is pool and Oceanview. Buffet food was OK but restaurant food (Thali, Sakura and the Italian restaurant) was absolutely delicious. If you have dietary restrictions i.e. can eat halal food only, please speak to their food and beverage manager. He will accommodate for all meals. We will never forget this experience and will definitely be back.

Mixed reviews

The best feature of this resort is the amazing food and drinks and the restaurant servers. They made the stay great. The hotel rooms were nice. They were clean when we arrived. But slowly downgraded over the coming days as housekeeping did not sweep floor for several days or would take towels and not replace them. It was near impossible to get them replaced. Our room was at the end. Air Transat sold it as an ocean view. But it was partial and the view included a bunch of tents, an open pile of garbage and the venders emptying their bucket of human waste in the bushes. The resort also lacks Jamaican culture. Once on the resort you had no idea you were in Jamaica. No local art, music or culture that I could see. If you like snorkeling however, this is great place. The swim area is full of seaweed and I’m sure in it must be fish. But you’re not so lucky if you like to spend the day in the water. The beach is short but sand is nice. There wasn’t a 24 hour place to get coffee. We are early risers but there no where to get coffee before 7:30 am. They open at 7 am but by the time you get through the line it’s about 30 mins. There are often high pressure sales people bugging you or crowded on walkways chatting causing tourists difficulty getting through. Overall the resort is nice. But service is 3 star at best. Don’t waste your money and go to Cuba or the Dominican. You’ll get a lot more for your money.

Beautiful resort

The grounds were beautiful as well as the rooms and the restaurants. The food was good although they should have beef patties at the buffet everyday. Staff could have been a little friendlier. Evening shows were nice. I loved the live band and dancing outside after the show. The singer at the piano bar is amazing!

Horrible Experience

The grounds are very nice, but the hotel is new and falling apart, the service was terrible. No one was polite and it was as if we were inconveniencing them whenever we asked for anything. 20+min to get a drink or food and it wasn't even crowded. I would not recommend this hotel and we were a group of 11people that will not be coming back.

Excellent resort, but SLOW service.

Excellent food! Had absolutely everything you’d want. Their Jamaican jerk sauce was fire! Excellent pool! Excellent entertainment! Very friendly staff! Cool extras like lazy River and bowling lanes. Beach is even better than we expected. Disco was active! Children’s splash pad was incredible! Two massive shortcomings - coffee shop was subpar for what I’ve seen at other places and service is SLOW. But with 2 kids it just made dinners unenjoyable as they would get tired and were ready for bed before the dinner would even be served. Drinks at dinner were so slow I even went over to the sports bar to get drinks for my wife and I one night as they hadn’t arrived after one hour of initial order. Having said that… food was worth the wait. We went to al of the a la cartes - the ribs and brisket at Route 66 were to die for! The butter chicken at the Indian restaurant was delicious! Our server even made a special spicy sauce with bonnet peppers on the side for us that was awesome! The tapanyaki spot was excellent. Great service and funny chef! But it is hot in there with poor AC and only 2 fans. Italian and sugar cane were okay. Overall, I’d go again but the service was truly painfully slow, especially with kids.

The good, the bad & the ugly honest review

Privilege was a rip off, only benefit was not paying for room service. Only one day we received service on the beach. Our butler was little to no help. Found a BIG cockroache hiding in our room. Not the best...

Beautiful Resort but!

I I have to say the hotel is beautiful and the lobby is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were nice and large clean nice big balconies lots of closet space and drawer space. TV also had excellent quality which I was surprised by. The pools are very nice little cold but they were really nice. I was not impressed by the beach at all it was very Rocky and full of seaweed the kids still had a good time playing in the sand but other than that it wasn't very nice at all. We booked three nights at restaurants two were absolutely terrible but the Japanese restaurant I would recommend it was amazing the food was great the people were very nice and friendly and they put on a nice little show , the kids really enjoyed it. As far as the bars go they run out of things a few nights they ran out of vodka and beer the only thing they do have lots of of course is rum. We were not impressed with the service that we received there it was very slow and like I said they ran out of a lot of things and every time you ordered a drink from a different bar it was made differently. I have to say I did not find the people as friendly as the last time I was in Runaway Bay in Jamaica the people were very friendly but here they didn't seem that nice maybe they were overworked I'm not sure. All in all we still had a good time but it is not a place that I would go back to or even recommend to anyone I would give it a three-star at best

Nice Resort!!

Good modern rooms,buffet was good and we tried all the restaurants,they were all good except for some wait times.Beach was a bit rocky, small but no sea weeds.kids enjoyed a lot in the kids pool and lazy River. Bowling area was a nice to have.The service was top notch at food areas. However, the house keeping was a bit off, they dont have a regular schedule.If you are not up by 8am forget about getting a bench by the pool.

Amazing resort!

I thought the grounds were very clean. The staff was amazing and the layout of the resort was very convenient. The decor was very modern. The service was very good but a bit slow once in a while. The resort is a great place for young families. We had an amazing stay at Ocean Coral Spring!

Nice Resort!

The hotel is clean and spacious. The pool is large/nice and the grounds are well maintained. The food is good, service is excellent and staff are pleasant. The beach is not that good but the overall facility makes up the difference.

Worst resort I’ve ever stayed in

I traveled with my husband, a 2 year old and a 9 month old baby. For the service: After the check in, nobody informed us about the operation of the resort. When you are looking for information, each person gives you a version. We were told that no reservation is necessary for the restaurants except for the buffet and Sakura. On the other hand, when we decided to go to eat elsewhere than in the buffet we were refused because we do not have a reservation. Or because they are the privileged one [... read more]s who are only allowed to eat before 8 pm. I found it ridiculous that a number of people have more rights than others for an all inclusive resort. They try to force you to upgrade to their privileged plan. For the rooms: we were given a room without air-conditioning, without dryer, steamer. We called several times to get them and to fix the AC, but without success. They changed our room when I finally told the lady that I will stay in the lobby with the kids until they fixed the AC. Our flight was delayed for more than 7 hours. When I went to check in, I asked for accommodation like a late check out because I couldn't sit in the lobby with 2 kids for 10 hours. The gentleman at the front desk told me that they don’t offer late check out and that if I want to stay in the room I have to extend my vacation. I was shocked and thought that this was inhumane. However, on the way to the airport I met a couple on the bus who told us that they were given a late check out until 3pm. I guess because we are black, the treatment is different. Bunch of racists. I don't recommend anyone to spend their vacations in this place. Too much inequality and racism.

Great Family Experience!

Everything was awesome from the room to the pools to the grounds to the amenities!! Just remember to get up early to get your seats if you want to sit at the main pool! Also they took amazing care of our dietary restrictions like celiac and peanut allergies. The chefs Manuel and Shanna Banana.

Perfect vacations

The resort was perfect for us. The staff was amazing, the service was good, the food was good, there was a lot of things to do, the restaurants were good and there are many of them. Our favorite was the Indian restaurant. There are 2 beaches and the one on the right was beautiful. The other one was a little Rocky. We Enjoyed the lazy river everyday. Everything was well organized.

Very clean resort

This resort was very nice. We really were made to feel welcome. We had read great reviews about the Sakura restaurant so we were excited to make reservations. Sadly we were very disappointed. When we arrived our drink orders were taken. The chef came and told us about we were having but it was so loud in there you could hardly hear what she was saying. She cooked, gave us the rice and vegetables then cooked the meat after, using the same utensil back and forth with the raw shrimp and raw chi [... read more]cken. We were barely finished eating, and still didn’t have our drinks when the cook told us we needed to be leaving because they had another sitting coming. Not impressed.

Definitely not a 4+ resort

Let's start with Check-in it was a horrible experience. We went with a large group and everyone's rooms were all wrong it took us over 1 hour to check in. Food quality was Ok. I was very disappointed that none of the food had any allergens labeled. My daughter has celiac and there was nothing she could eat for breakfast thank goodness I had brought her bread with me at least she could have that with an egg. FANTASTIC VACATION FOR FAMILIES!

We spent 1 week at this resort and give it a 4/5. Resort: gorgeous. Well maintained. Very big, lots of walking. Beach: not the greatest in terms of size, but we still enjoyed it. Rocky and seaweed. Food: lots of options, but did have to wait for certain restaurants. We still managed and liked it. Entertainment: GREAT! Mariah, AKA Skittles, is great with the kids. Kids club is great! Not what we expected

Not a 5 star resort. We booked a privilege suite thinking it would enhance our experience and it seemed to make no difference other than being about to go to one of the only three restaurants we enjoyed. Privileged lounge, red snapper and sugar cane. The other restaurants were terrible and the service was so rude. We waited an hr and half at Route 66 only to get cold beef brisket with no sides. Martha’s market people were extremely rude and the bacon in the morning was raw! I wouldn’t care [... read more] so much if we had just adults but we have two kids who need to eat. When I asked the on server at Route 66 about chicken nuggets she said it would take awhile of them to come out…. Kids should get served first no matter where you are. The kind server at sugar cane understood that and we super fast and even recommended chicken nuggets for my infant right away. Winston at the privilege lounge was excellent, everyone we came across in the privilege lounge was very nice and polite it felt like we were on a different resort. Same with the Red Snapper everyone was extremely polite and helpful. Anastacia our house keeper was amazing and very polite and friendly. She always did a wonderful job! Everything nice and clean and tidy. Especially with the two kids she was a big help. Malane is a wonderful bartender at the beach, great conversations and a kind person. To get a hold of someone seems almost impossible takes a minimum of 3mins for someone to answer the phone unless you call reception then they get mad you called them instead of who ever your trying to get a hold of. Running out of food items is a huge one here. Every restaurant we went to Atleast something off the menu we couldn’t have because they were out off. I think that’s more management then anything. The only reason this hotel is getting stars is because of those wonderful people mentioned above and the beautiful view. I must say the hotel is very clean and the life guards plus the blue group do an excellent job as well! Hopefully you can work on your customer service and food preparation. Also give what you promised a privilege guest.

Nice

When I arrived at the hotel there was no record of my booking , but they made me feel welcomed and arranged for a lovely room which was better than the one I had booked. The grounds were lovely and clean and the rooms were lovely and clean also. The resort is very large, so anyone with walking issues may have a problem. The food was good. The beach is not the best, very small.

Ocean Coral Spring

We were off to a good start, got the room requests we asked for but I had to call the resort as all of the emails kept bouncing back which in turn cost me about $30.00 for that call. Rooms were big, clean lots of space to organize. We had 2 rooms, my mom & daughter's room key didn't end up working and maintenance didn't come until almost midnight before they got let in. We ended up only eating breakfast here daily and sometimes had to wait over 20 minutes for water & cutlery. My advice.... find a server, sit there every day and you will get better service and a $1 tip goes a long way. The omelette chef was amazing, and I heard the juice bar was really good as well. I did also hear the handling of raw meat with bare hands happened which then touched the cooked pasta, i did not see this personally but i believe food handling training would be very beneficial for all staff. Italian: our favorite a la carte, ate their twice, service was good too. Some complained of small portions, so double up on ordering if you have a larger appetite. Route 66: This was good too, service was slow, brisket was good and the shrimp nachos were amazing. West Indian this was good too, again double up on ordering if you have a larger appetite. Japanese: WOW, great service, great food great entertainment. Line up at 10am to book reservations and you will get your pick of time. Red Snapper Lunch burgers undercooked so better to ask them to cook well done on the spot, not a wide variety but enough. A La carte for dinner, if you order patties order a few, they were amazing, the main course were average Jamaican Grill: WOW i think we had lunch 3 times from here, worth the wait for the jerk chicken and the yams were amazing. Maid Service, we had a great maid except the day she was off, we waited until 10pm to get toilet paper then our room cleaned @ 11pm we were exhausted. I probably spent about 2-3 hours of my vacation running back and forth to the lobby begging for TP & maid service. Unacceptable to wait for TP, just NOT Ok. Entertainment: there was enough during the day, big waterslide, wall climbing dance lessons, volley ball. for the Evening they should do the beach party twice a week and have more available seating around that area. I think bringing in outdoor vendors 1 or 2 days a week selling their items would have had a nice touch. Beach: it's rocky, bring water shoes and you will be fine. you can walk to public beach there were vendors there and horseback riding. They were trying to remove rock and add more umbrellas during the week so it was getting better. Bars: TERRIBLE. constantly ran out of beer. We were at the beach, the beach bar ran out, then went to red snapper, ran out, then went to pool bar ran out til we finally got to the lobby and they gave me draft beer when they had been giving us cans all week. I would say running out of beer was a daily frustrating occurrence. The servers on the beach were non existence or standing around ignoring us. My hubby got ignored at the sports bar daily as 5 would be standing around doing nothing. There is a lack of management to hold anyone accountable which was very frustrating. We chose this resort because we stayed @ oceans in Mexico and were really pleased. We knew there would be longer waits due to staff shortage but by Tuesday there were so much staff but again, just standing around not interested in customer service. We have booked with air transat for years, i can't believe air transat has allowed this lack of customer service as one of its hotels.
