Our stay from January 7 to 14 was very relaxing. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The À la Carte restaurants were excellent. We tried Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Steakhouse and French and lots of variety at the buffets. Unfortunately, the whole resort was without hot water for about 24 hours so cold shower was not too pleasant. Beach was not the best I've seen... lots of coral. Nice sandy area for guests to lounge but the area where it's nicer to swim is more on one side where the[... read more]re are no lounge chairs and looks like a desert. We had purchased the Privilege package and was well worth it. Our butler José was the most dedicated, professional and friendly employee that we have ever experienced. He made our resort experience so much better so thank you José.

Nice Relaxing vacation (by choice)
We enjoyed our stay at this resort. We stayed on the adult only side. We wanted a quiet, relaxing vacation and for the most part, that is what we got. Our room overlooked the El Beso activity pool and it was very loud from 10 am to 5:30 pm, every day. Some of the "music" was very degrading to women and filled with swearing and disgusting lyrics. I know we all have different tastes in music, but if you want a quieter stay or enjoy an afternoon nap, ask for your room to be beside the quiet [... read more]pool, not the activity pool. The quiet pool was just that, quiet. We spent most of our time on the beach down by the lagoon. It was beautiful to take our floaties and just float in the lagoon. Unfortunately, the El Beso, Adults Only signs were too small and lots of people brought their kids over there, as the main beach was quite rough. The Lagoon is not on the property so anyone can go there, the issue was they took the chairs from the El Beso privilege area over to the lagoon or they just sat in the adults only area with their kids, leaving less room for those of us who paid for adults only. No one from the resort cared or did anything to stop people from taking the loungers over to the lagoon or from having their kids in the adults only area.
The food was ok. We certainly didn't starve but everything was overcooked. Our dinner in the steakhouse was sub par. The steak and the ribs were way overcooked and tough. We felt rushed through our meal, even though the place was over half empty. We enjoyed dinner at The Blue Moon. It was delicious and we had excellent service. there from Neomi. Sakura was tasty, but the rice was undercooked and all the meats were overcooked. We ate breakfast and lunch at Pez Dama (El Beso Adults only) almost exclusively. Clemencia greeted us by name every day and seated us at our favourite table. Miguel, Isaac, Ricardo and Melvyn were very pleasant every day. They were great and took good care of us. We also had a few evening meals there and they were very good. Dinner in the lighthouse was also very good.
We enjoyed the piano bar and the lobby bar. There was usually some entertainment there every evening. And we loved Yuli, the lobby bar supervisor. She was so kind and lovely. Yudelka and Yobildania make sure we had a drink when we wanted one.
Most of the staff were friendly, but some were definitely not, and would do anything rather than serve you.
Mikes coffee bar was excellent. Those folks work very hard all day as there is always a line up there. Nice place to have an afternoon pick me up.
Overall it was nice. Biggest complaints were that they allowed smoking in outdoor dining areas. We love to eat outdoors, but not when people are smoking. There should be designated smoking areas around the resort, away from the eating areas. The other complaint was the wine. There was one red, one white and one rose unless you wanted to pay for a bottle, even for privilege guests. The red wine was no better than grape juice.
We would go back.

Resort Review
The hotel is beautiful, especially the lobby. The food was good as well as the entertainment and the entertainment staff. mike's cafe also amazing! While I never saw a cockroach in my room I saw about 5 outside on the walkways and one on my balcony. I've never seen one at a resort before so that was unsettling. The night with vendors, and the staff trying to get you to buy timeshares along with constant emails to purchase overpriced items was too much. We go on vacation to relax, not to be [... read more]pestered and ripped off. We also called for toilet paper and were told they had none, had to get some from another guest. For those reasons we will not return.

The Trip from Hell!!!
Your booking number for this purchase is 22703854
We arrived at our resort on October 24th at 130 pm . We arrived at the check in desk of Ocean El Faro Adults Only Side at130 but our room was not ready until 430pm so we waited in the hotel lobby as requested and check back every 15minutes. Everyone else on our flight which was 28 couples were checked in at 130 to 2pm. Once in our room we had a bathroom sink leaking as the base needed to be recaulked and this took 24 hours, and 2 days later we w[... read more]oke up to our unit having several flood’s which I’ve included photos..there was a leak at the front entrance from the ceiling we filled a garbage can more than once throughout the night ….next we had the roof deck
also flooded as the water from rainfall was going down the drain instead was going through the ceiling walls only to find out it was dripping on the middle of our King bed all night and our undergarments were soiled. We called a front desk once again and after several hours of speaking with reception and having them send workers to inspect and confirm the damage as they took pictures of all the damages they approved a room change to a smaller suite then what we initially had . Our original suite wasRm11307 and now we are in 16316. This took our entire day as we weren’t moved into the suite once the damages were confirmed at10am but we were moved at 4pm as they said no rooms were available even though we felt after all these issues we deserved the best suite the resort has to offer but that was not their mindset. Less than 24 hours of being in Rm 16316 we experienced another leak issue in our main bathroom and it was heavy leak coming through a electrical light receptacle. We used a trash can to collect the water and then informed the Front Desk. They sent service men to document and take pics of the damages and said we would receive a room change. We never heard back from the Front Desk and based on all the leaks we had experienced we also didn’t feel a room change would resolve anything. Also this leak totalled destroyed the bathroom ceiling as drywall and sediment was everywhere. At this point we were worn down and depleted so thought it best to remain calm and
Collective . So in conclusion i want to reiterate that we received no room upgrades for any of these inconveniences but they did offer a late check out on Tuesday to compensate for check in mishap but we informed then that this wasn’t an offer that we could benefit from since our flight leaves At 230pm and we would Board the bus that morning at 10am. We were also offered a couple more alcarte restaurant options but we didn’t end up using them as the food was tastier in the main dining room. So we lost 2.5 days of our 7 day trip and had to relocate rooms and repack and not once did a senior or junior manager deal with any of our issues. We also notified in person our air canada rep who went by the name JC and he also
Never responded to us on the early checkin fiasco. So now I’m looking for compensation as this is below standard customer service and no guest should ever be treated with a lack of respect and service as the above message clearly indicates the issues we suffered and endured. Yours Truly Todd Shepherd If you want proof i took full videos of every situation which i will post on Tripadvisor as i know this happens all the time to guests.

Exceeded Expectations
My oldest daughter and I stayed on the adults only side. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. People always looking after the grounds especially after it rains or a windy day.
Our room was very clean and modern looking with lots of closet space and beautiful decor.
Food was great with good selection at buffet. It was nice to have all the restaurants along the main street between the adult's and family side of the resort. Made it more easy.
Staff was wonderful from cleaning, res[... read more]taurant, front desk and bar.
Good variety of nightly entertainment.
We truly enjoyed our stay. Great Resort!!

Everything was fine. Except the staff that work at the hotel were a little bit uptight. They should be a little bit more friendly...... Food was great and the Beach/Pools was good as well.....
Overall Rating I would say 4 stars out of 5...

Excellent Resort
This is a beautiful resort with so many amenities. The food was excellent and there were many options at every meal, so you will always find something to eat. The hotel room and the grounds were very clean and well maintained. Restaurants and other places were easy to find because of the layout with the central avenue/walkway leading from the lobby to your rooms and the beach. All restaurants, bars, coffee shop, ice cream shop, theater, bowling, teen club and entertainment areas were off this ce[... read more]ntral avenue. There was lots of evening music and dancing here. There were lots of beautiful places to sit and have a drink or observe others enjoying themselves.
Now for the negatives! The staff were over worked and always looked tired, so hence were not engaging at times. Service was slow in some restaurants. The music and entertainment was always in Spanish. The Piano Guy was excellent playing a variety of music for everyone!!! Given the large percentage of English speaking guests, it would be courteous to have some entertainment in English. I heard many other guests comment about this situation. If you need more tourists address this problem! The beach was terrible with weeds and rocks and was not swimmable!!! Management needs to focus on fixing this problem. You could lie on the beach but that was it! Other resorts clean their beach!

Ok resort
The resort looks nice. The adult section is generally peaceful and is not crowded. Lazy river is fun. Beach is nice. But restaurants and cafe are far from the room. Service is slow. Not enough rinsing sections. A few are not working. Food is soso. Not much varieties and mostly salty. I will give 6/10 on food. They also close early. There is only one restaurant that opens after 11pm and is super far from the room. Most of the drinks are very sweet and we found some staff are rude with attitude. P[... read more]ools close at 6pm which is very early. I will give 6.5/10 overall.
This resort was amazing. The food the service was excellent. We enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant the most. The only negative would be the beach. Not a typical Dominican beach. A lot of rocky areas . There is a small cove next to the resort that was calm and sandy. It is a vacant property that most people used but you were not allowed to bring your chairs. Other than the beach this resort deserves the 5 star rating.
Thanks to our agent Kevin Dupuis for helping us set this up

Amazing Resort
When you get to lobby, it is just amazing with the bar, the whale skeleton over it and the floors are immaculate. It was a breeze getting checked in and they take you to your room with the golf carts.
We were on the adult side with our pools and beach access and we saw the family side and it was as beautiful. Humongous water park for the kids along with 2 pools and a lazy river. They also had access to the beach on their side.
Our room was very clean and had all the usual stuff in it. We had[... read more] chosen the Junior Suite Deluxe with a whirlpool on the second floor that gave you a look over the buildings. The only issue we had is that it took way too long for it to fill up and we did not use it after all.
We ate at the restaurant called Pez Dama which is closer to the beach on the adult side. The food and service there was awesome with Manolin and Yoandys as managers, you can't go wrong. They have a Brazilian and Peruvian diner night and they alternate so you can chose which one you want.
We went to the main buffet but it did not compare with Pez Dama which was also a buffet. We tried a few restaurants that they have near the main entrance and it was first come first serve except for the Japanese one called Sakura. This one needed reservations and you had to get up very early if you wanted one (6am). We could not do it through the App, you had to be there in person. All of the restaurants menus were on the App that you had to scan at the entrance and you could order from that. If you wanted to pay more, you could get different kind of choices but had to pay extra.
The ones we tried were OK but we still went back to that little place Pez Dama. It was a cut above.
We looked at Privilege but decided not to go with it. For the difference that you pay it was not worth it (alcohol, rooms, etc). The alcohol in general was at or above what we have seen at other resorts without the Privilege option. They were not cheap with it but did not go overboard also. It was just a good balance.
The activities and games that they had at the pool was a lot of fun. Carlos and his buddies made it fun. They were handing out little bottles of Brugal "Ron". The music was not too loud and it had a good mix of everything.
The resort was extremely clean and well taken care of by the staff. We had brought some $1 American bills to tip the staff throughout our stay. We did not have too because it was all inclusive but if you wanted something, they remembered you and took care of you - food for thought.
We booked our excursion through the Air Canada Rep at the hotel and it was easier that way. All the other companies had one to book also. We did half a day of snorkeling and it was plenty. The only thing I would suggest would be to bring your own fins. We had brought our masks my wife and I expecting them to have fins but they did not. We could have used them immensely when we got in the water as we were pretty far out and had to swim to the enclosure to see the nurse sharks and the rays which was pretty awesome.
From talking to other people who went for a full day, they left around 7am to come back around 6pm and they were exhausted. Lol
The merchants who were walking the beach were not too aggressive. They would walk by and ask you but we politely said that we were not interested and they kept going.
If you are a beach person, this might not be for you as it was not a great beach but you had a little cove beside us that was good. It was windy and had some good waves at times but it was hot during our week (30 degrees). The humidity was not high so it was great.
I would recommend it to anyone either couples or families. We got an awesome place for a low price.

Beautiful place!
We stayed as a couple from Feb 23 to March 2 on the El Beso Side of the resort. This place is very very nice, this was our second time in Punta Cana and it did not disapoint. We stayed in building 17 swim up room and it was fabulous. Sunshine all day! Room are very nice, bed & pillows very comfortable. Our room was very clean. The food was also the best we have had so far in an all inclusive resort. The beach was nice but the water was rough most days but still nice. We mostly enjoyed our swim u[... read more]p pool room. I really dont have much negative to say except for maybe seeing people searching for pool chairs but this was not an issue for us with the swim up room. The online app to book a la carte was a little tricky but most nights you could walk up to the restaurants and they took us without reservation. Overall fabulous place and I would definitely return.

Great Resort!
We had a wonderful week at the adult only El Beso resort. I don’t have a lot of all inclusive experiences, but I was expecting a sandy beach, palm trees & decent food, and it delivered - and more! The food was surprisingly good and plentiful with lots of selections
at every meal. It was difficult to get reservations at the a la cart restaurants (a frantic 07:00 am game on their website, with everything booked solid in 30 seconds - literally), but the buffets were actually great!
The pools [... read more]were lively and very much a party atmosphere, which I would have taken part in some days if I wasn’t there with my mother, so the beautiful beaches were where we spent our time. Extremely opulent lobby, and very nice rooms. The staff were a joy to deal with as well.

Would not go back!
Cindy is absolutely amazing! Thank you Cindy. I would not recommend this hotel. Dominican is beautiful but would not return to Ocean El Faro. Although there is a language barrier in another country, 90% of staff could not understand you and we could not understand them so anything you requested was “no†or was not correct what we asked for. The first 2 nights we did not put DND on the door, so we had coffee delivered at 10pm and staff just unlocked our door and walked in. The second night a[... read more]t 10:40 hotel staff were delivering towels and again, just unlocked our door and walked in. I called the front desk to let them know and they hung up on me. I think there just needs to be a timing restraint on rooms being equipped. I did not feel safe there at all. Our butler was really good though!
We enjoyed our stay on the El Beso side as it was a bit quieter (although the staff was still quite ‘assertive’ in recruiting guests to participate in poolside activities. Rooms were nice and clean - fairly well kept up although the outside beds/loungers needed replacing. Pool bar was great - assuming you stayed in the pool as loungers were VERY hard to come by… unless you were up at 6 🤨.
