Catalonia Yucatan: Great family resort

We went here on our first family vacation with my six-year-old and my 11 year-old and my husband. in terms of the room, they were kept clean and tidy daily but Definately dated it didn’t bother us at all. There was many swimming areas as the two hotels are attached. This ocean was super safe. There was a little lagoon with lots of fish and sea creatures to look at with snorkels and use kayaks and the other side of the ocean was blocked off so it’s super safe from any under toes. We really enjoye [... read more]d the breakfast and the lunches at the buffet however, the dinners were just subpar. I do suggest trying to make reservations right away for the à la carte. I did that night and I could only get two in at the end of our trip the Mexican and the Italian. My husband says that the Mexican was a three out of 10 and had small portions but he is a bigger guy so for the kids and I I found it fine. Porto Ventura is just a walk away. It’s a cute little area with many restaurants. Dolphins manatees and shops. A short drive to Playa Del Carmen, which is always a great visit. But a very safe, clean and fun hotel resorts, especially with the family all in all. I would Rate it 8/10

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Paradise Found!

Beautiful, laid back adults only experience, with fantastic food - and a stunning beach. Super friendly staff and gorgeous grounds in the jungle, animated by lively Coati (and other mammals, marsupials and even an occasional monkey!) Go “Priveledged” for access to the fantastic B’Loved Restaurant at the beach

Catalonia Yucatan: Great location

Just spent two weeks there. Rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. There is great pool space and seemed like there were enough loungers at the pool and the water. The attention to food allergies was top notch. They ask at every meal if there are allergies and they took my gf around to show her what was available for her. They even cooked for her separately. It’s a short walk into town. The shows next door were great. They could use a lounge bar in the evening. We had a 5 al La car [... read more]te max in two weeks. We had 3 to choose from. It is a chill resort. Livelier next door, which we had access to. Beach is rocky but there is a way in that is sandy. Good snorkeling in front of the resort.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: 3rd time to the Catalonia

Once again, the Catalonia did not disappoint. Firstly, the staff is #1. friendly and helpful, the cleaning staff does an impeccable job with very high standards. The buffet, ala cart, coffee shop are all excellent. Yoga in the morning on the terrace, another added bonus! Flying from Hamilton was a cakewalk.

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: Ok resort

Clean rooms and resort. Food at ala cartes was good but not very hot. Easy to get reservations. Only 1 ATM at resort and its on the family side, it was not working more than half the time I was there. Beach had lots of natural shade with all the palm trees. Staff were friendly and helpful. The one really negative is when you arrive you are hit up with a "free breakfast" at their exclusive club, which is an invitation to a sales pitch to join their club. Had a problem with my shower door not closing and causing lots of water on bathroom floor, told front desk twice about it and no one came to even look at it in the 10 days I was there

Catalonia Royal Bavaro: GOOD RESORT FOR ADULTS

Grounds are beautiful and well looked after, beach is awesome. All Staff at front desk, bars, restaurants very friendly and helpful. Guest services felt like you were bothering them, made it difficult to deal with. They told us to pick 4 restaurants in the beginning and come back to pick the rest later which meant we could not get into anything for the last few days. We spoke to others that had the same thing. It looks like there has been water damage in the rooms. If you have the privileged room and are told you have premium liquor (wrong) it is only available at one bar which was not one, we went to not near pools or beach. Not worth the extra money. Do not bother going into Punta Cana it is not a small city centre but a Mall with a grocery store.

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Wonderful week

Catalonia playa maroma in the Mayan. Great week. 8/10! We upgraded to premium level and were very pleased. Location: short bus from cancun airport, smaller resort, long walk from lobby/buffet to beach and other restaurants but very scenic. Beach: amazing! Loads of chair for all. Lots of shade or sun. We had a lot of seagrass but they worked endlessly to keep it cleaned up. Service on beach not so great but always good to keep moving to get yourself a beverage. No shortage of towels daily. Pool w [... read more]as clean and looked like lots of fun but we did only the beach. Food: ate every breakfast and lunch in the beloved. Amazing service and lovely selection of delicious food. Buffet just typical. We ate dinner at Japanese, steak, Mexican and all were good. Not as great of service as beloved. Didn’t do wok which is in Japanese but separate area and sit at grill. Crepe bar excellent. Pizza good. Drinks as usual. Some better liquor. Rooms were fine. Friends had unpleasant odour and requested some assistance so were promptly moved to another room. Other friends had water leakage which was repaired promptly. Alll in all a great week and would definitely recommend. loved the monkeys!

Catalonia Yucatan: Great time

I went with my grandson to this resort, it is nice enough, cosy enough and very comfortable. The staff of course, are great. We were disappointed with the beach though. It had a lot of limestone and rocks and stones so it made it unable to really swim. You could walk out to your waist and float on top. The amount of fish that you were able to see was wonderful.

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Great well rounded resort!

Had a wonderful time with my friends. Rooms were spacious and comfy. Food was tasty and lots of variety. Only cons would be the difficulty with dinner reservations and the amount of seaweed in the ocean. But the beach was powdery soft! Staff were also attentive and friendly!

Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Would never go to this chain resort again

From the moment we stepped through the front doors we were disappointed. We were not shown to our room and left to navigate the resort on our own. Booking restaurant reservations was a nightmare and quickly discovered you needed to purchase wine in order to get in. Quite the scheme if you ask me. We paid for an all inclusive trip but needed to pay additionally in order to get in to the other dining options. The resort was understaffed and not helpful. Catalonia Grand Costa Mujeres: Birthday celebration

This resort is very clean and smoothly run. Everyone was very friendly and you're not accosted by Wildlife or sales representatives. We had an issue with our room not being near an elevator which was a must for us. They were able to accommodate us quickly with another room. There is no smoking allowed anywhere on the resort but the gate to enter the resort is not far from the lobby which is where you can go to smoke. Catalonia Playa Maroma: Great Mexican Resort

I booked this resort for our December getaway after reading reviews. It is about 400 rooms, VERY clean, good food. The beach has lots of shade from the palm trees & lots of lounges ( no need to put out towels) .Restaurant reservations are done yourself via the QIR code on the website (easy).The resort has a jungle feel with coati everywhere ! Staff are wonderful , pools large & pool area food is fast with pizza , burgers & sandwiches. Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Going back again.

Upgraded to Privilege and rooms are closer to beach but farther from main buffet and Lobby. Not the resort if u don't like walking. Walked 6-8000 steps most days just getting around. Found this to be an advantage though. Food was mostly excellent with usual buffet problems of sometimes not hot as we would have liked it to be. Lots of variety. Grounds are very well kept, lots of birds and fish in ponds. Occasional bug bite. Room comfortable. Several English language TV channels. Huge p [... read more]ool with shallow entry and deeper section. Going back again with Grandson and his parents as we are now sure they will like it. Short bus ride from airport.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Wouldn't go back

There are better options. They weren't accommodating and options weren't great. You have to do reservations for dinner and it was always booked. Would never go back. I've been at many other resorts and the food option and service has been much better

Catalonia Playa Maroma: Very good deal. Smaller resort with beautiful beach, good food.

Rooms and public areas were clean, well taken care of. The coatis own the place but they're harmless. However, look out for the monkeys. Food was usually v. good in the a la carte restaurants but could be improved at buffet. The service at the buffet could be better as well. English is not as widely spoken as other resorts we've been to, but not a problem. Tipping didn't seem to be expected as many other resorts. No need to "claim" a spot early by the pool or beach with towel like some other [... read more]s, lots available. We upgraded to Privileged; it was worth it given the proximity of the Bloved restaurant to the beach and the food and service. We've been there three times and would definitely go back again.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Wonderful Resort

We had a wonderful holiday here. The food was very good and plentiful the resort is spotless, they are very attentive to the guests, we enjoyed all the night shows and pool entertainment crew are amazing. Beach area is rocky to get in but noticed many people in snorkleing and swimming.Our room was so comfortable,Stayed on Riviera side . Great time Catalina .

Catalonia Yucatan: Resort was alright

Hotel definitely needs up grades. Patio door would not open without force and toilet broke. Shower was not working when we arrived. One positive thing is when we called service desk they had someone there within 10 min to repair things. Food was pretty much the same for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bars close to early. Only place to get drinks in the evening is in sports bar. Only 2 nights out of 7 had activities in the evening. Would of rather stayed next door.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Catalonia

The only issue I had was that the security didn’t not enforce guests smoking. It’s not fair to have to ask security to get people to not smoke around others. The staff were great, entertainment was amazing and food was good. The pool and beach were fabulous

This adult only resort is great for couples, not so much for groups. They have a policy that they cant seat more than 6 people together. Our group was 9 and they split us up all the time. We couldn't understand and after a lo g conversation with Joseph (concierge by the pool) we finally were able to be together on our last 2 days. Within our group we had a few concerns and issues in the rooms which took a few days to sort out. Things that could have been dealt with immediately and weren't. The guys were great. Both the Tequila Bar and the Margarita Bar were good as well. The Rauxca show was good. Food great. The beach was probably the best part. Absolutely ?

Catalonia Montego Bay: Great family resort

This is a great family hotel for many reasons such as the kids club, low sea water (literally about feet knee deep), large pool with kids fountain area and lots of space to roam and sit. The food was really good with lots of options for meat and veggie lovers. And the bonus its just mins or less from the airport. The gym has new equipment. You can get Wi-Fi on most of the grounds. Be advised the hotel is under some renovations but that did not not interfere with the vacation (for now). Also the [... read more]y do have a vacation membership presentation onsite, and the entertain could be improved. There are lots of places to sit, but if your looking for common tv area that too is hit and miss. We only went to the buffet and not the restaurants to I can't comment on that part, but ALL the staff were exceptional!! We would definitely go back, love to see it when its fully renovated. We do suggest that they should have a more welcoming price for expatriates or locals (e.g. day packages that expires 2 am??? why would you want a guest to leave at that time!) and travel membership that you can commit to after you leave (who wants to be on vacation and commit to $15K-20K future travel on the spot). Overall the hotel is worth a visit, its very friendly, clean, convenient and slower paced.
