We choose Grand Sirenis because of the beach, pools and Lazy River. The staff, food and room always exceeds our expectations. We also enjoy looking at the wildlife on site. The night and daytime entertainment are great. We watched the fire show on the beach and the Lion King at the theatre. We spent our days on the beach and they had Valentines Day entertainment one day and a fabulous 3 piece band another day. We also enjoyed swimming in the ocean and snorkeling. This was our 6th visit to the r[... read more]esort with our friends and we will be going again this April with family and friends.

Tesoro Los Cabos: Not the first time but definitely the last.
Let me start by saying I have been going to Cabo for 11 years. While I wasn’t satisfied with the hotel, I also was not very happy with the flight schedule that Tripcentral provided. We ended up with an 11 hour layover in Toronto.
As for the hotel we found their policies to be bizarre. We had booked with breakfast included and they wanted us to wear a wrist band. They had several different colours of wrist band for a number of different options. I have travelled extensively and except for a stay[... read more] at a remote resort never was asked to wear a piece of plastic. I carried my band in my wallet to use at breakfast only. Secondly, hotels usually ask for your credit card to use for room charges. They did take my card number but when I tried charging a drink to my room, I was told that inly incidentals could be charged. I tried to explain that a drink charge is an incidental but to no avail. At the pool where there is space for only a fraction of the guests they have an unusual system where individual cards are used for towels. Perhaps theft of towels is an issue but I felt like a criminal the way I was monitored. The marina view room was small with a bathroom so small the door couldn’t be opened fully because the toilet was in the way. We tried using the air conditioner but the result was clamy air with a musty smell. Food at breakfast was plentiful but two things you think of with Mexican food, avocado and tomatoes were absent. The coffee was flavourless and the “cream” was really evaporated milk. We found out from a couple that didn’t have the breakfast plan that the cost was $33 US per person. We made the best of our vacation and only used the hotel for sleeping. Sleeping is difficult however as there is the constant barking of sea lions day and night. Hopefully I have said enough to make people take a look at an alternative hotel.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: A great resort
This was our second time here and we had a great time. We love this resort. The staff is really friendly, we had no issues booking any of the à la carts. The food was great lots to choose from on the buffet and the drinks were really good. We did manage to get lounge chairs at the adult pool and we did have to go out early to get them but after a couple of days, there was lots of chairs still available at 8 AM. Our room was cleaned every day and replenished with towels and if we needed more towe[... read more]ls, we just asked and they were given. It’s a great location if you want to walk to Bucerias. We plan to go back next year.

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort but getting sick blew it
The resort is a beauty, super clean. We were Diamond Club. The room was great and all worked, plenty of hot water, fridge restock daily, room cleaned perfectly except the day off of the regular cleaner. We were in block 17 7th floor and the view was fantastic. Our Butler Jhonny was great but I felt that we miss some information as we were 8 and in 4 different rooms and there was not much informations regarding directions to places. The check in was LONG over one hour, yes we had drinks and food [... read more]at the check in but it took a long time to get to our rooms.
The resort is great but they need to change their beach towel rules and stop the chairs reservations with the towels. This was a big issue for the none Diamond Club. In the Diamond club area we always had chairs available.
Pools were great, drinks at the pools were also great specially at the Diamond club pool.
Food was good to my taste at the Italian restaurant, the Buffet but we went to the Cave one night and did not find the food good.
The beach is great we were surprise we could walk it pass our resort with no concern.
Here is my main issue, we were a group of 16 12 adults anf 4 childrens. All was well until we went to the Japaneese ZEN Hibachi style restaurant. 12 of the adults had dinner there and 6 of us got extremly sick the next day, 5 did not have the energy to get out of the room. I was the brave one going for my walk and ended up tthrowing up 5 times at the Diamond Club pool in front of multiple resort employees and No one came to help me.
We my wife and I travel multiple time yearly and never have I been so sick. The good thing is it last like 12 hours in my case.
Once the butler found out I was sick he came to see if he could do anything for me but it was too late. 2 more of the group got sick during the return home in the plane.
Resort is one of the nicest I have seen but they have issues with the FOOD and Nora Virus that hit nearly every groups that are there.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Good resort, enjoyed out time.
This is our second time going to the Barcelo Mayan resort as we were there in 2018 for the Luke Bryan Crash My Playa and it hasn't changed much since. The resort is kept clean and maintained to a certain point but the more you look the more you see broken or well used items. As it is such a huge resort the maps available in the resort or online are terrible, you can easily get turned around or lost and also having multiple staff tell you a particular restaurant or place in the resort was totally[... read more] incorrect and have you running around getting frustrated. The buffets were good and the a la carte restaurants were very good, we especially loved the Tokyo and Capri restaurants!
On average the staff were pleasant but encountered more staff that didn't attempt to understand what you were asking and also would not look at you even after saying good morning or hello...
Air Transat had it classified as a 5 star but I would say it is more of a 3.5 to 4 star.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Lovely Cozumel
We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The start was difficult as there was no room for us due to maintenance issues. We were relocated for one night to a dismal room at the adjacent resort Dreams, though came back to a nice room at Secrets, but it was a disruptive start. Highlights were good snorkelling off the beach, fabulous weather, good food and overall nice resort. Night music and entertainment was minimal.

Ocean Maya Royale: Fantastic Resort
We enjoyed everything about this resort! The grounds are beautifully maintained and cared for! We ended up going to 3 of the specialty restaurants which were the Italian, Mexican and Blue Moon and the food was excellent! The food and choice in the Buffet was also great! The staff are amazing throughout the resort and really enhance the experience. Had a great time walking on the beach and loved the quiet pool area! El Dorado Maroma: Amazing resort!!
El dorado Maroma is a wonderful resort. Staff is very friendly and attentive, beach is gorgeous, food is very good. Our only complaint is that we were all( 2 couples one of which were seniors ,)on the same booking and they put us in different buildings. Trip central told me there were only two floors so we weren’t worried about stairs …. But when we arrived we were given rooms on the 4th level that had 48 stairs to climb. This was a lot of stairs for us in our late 50’s and my parents in their l[... read more]ate 70’s. I don’t blame the resort I blame trip central as I had literally contacted them inquiring and was given incorrect information by the rep I spoke to.
I recommended getting a swim up suite instead of a private pool suite if you have knee problems etc., other than that we loved this resort and plan on returning soon!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort
We have made several trips to the Bahia principe Akumal with our family it is a good family Resort and the beach is perfect for young children. It is very large and we do lots of walking which we enjoy. There are also trollies to transport you around the resort should you want or need this. Our group was 3 families. Children ages 5,9,10,11 and 2 with parents and seniors 69.
We were here two years ago with our family and we found the buffet to be exceptional for food select selection. This y[... read more]ear, the food selection was still good, but we found it not to be quite as high-end as it was two years ago. The snack bar was always our favourite for lunch this year we found it lacking. Many days there was no pico de gallo or guacamole. They still had very good fish, but it was now in an automated ordering system. My husband found the hamburger un appealing. The service here at the snack bar was also lacking this year. When I asked about this, they indicated they were having trouble securing service people, which is a common issue at home as well. The staff were all very pleasant and did their best but there just were not very many around
This Resort is being taken over by Hyatt and the transition is happening in the next few weeks from what I understand. We noticed more automation of services and the automation didn’t work well. We tried booking our à la cart restaurants online 10 days prior to arrival as they suggest and most of the restaurants were already booked. We were looking for early-ish reservations as we had children age 5 to 11 in our group.
The rooms were clean and generally quiet. They were large enough to accommodate to adults and two children. The children had their own beds and the adults had a king bed. The service to the rooms was very good.
The entertainment was good and drinks were tasty
I would highly recommend exchanging your Canadian money to pesos prior to arrival. we had planned on exchanging money at the front desk and we did some of that but they generally only had 100peso and 200 peso notes to do the exchange. We were a group of 10 so leaving tips for meals, etc. for all of us was not a problem to leave this amount for tips. However, I do like to tip the servers for drinks at the pool, etc., and this created a bit of a problem.
Overall, this is still a great resort and we enjoyed our stay very much. The food was good in the buffet and had decent variety. the KUUK À LA CARTE Restaurant was by far my favourite. The staff was very accommodating for a group of 10 and our grandchildren enjoyed having the cousins club at their own table as they could only seat six of us together. The children were at a table close to us and managed well.
We found the staff very friendly and accommodating.
We had a great time and would go back to this resort again.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Beautiful Resort
We spent 10 days at this resort in February and really enjoyed our stay. The pool and beach were absolutely beautiful. The staff were so kind, friendly and always helpful. The food in the restaurants were good but certainly not over the top delicious. We enjoyed the entertainment provided and the staff always try to keep people engaged and entertained. The room was good but very dark as we were on the bottom floor. We did book a couple of excursions through the concierge but discovered that thei[... read more]r service was much more expensive than booking elsewhere. We noticed one excursion to be $60 less per person through the trip advisor site. Because of the remoteness of this hotel we felt somewhat trapped unless we took a cab or had the tour company pick us up at the hotel. Cabs are ridiculously expensive. We enjoyed the all inclusive, adults only experience but again, it would be nice if this hotel offered daily shuttles twice a day to Tulum or other towns instead of booking a cab.

Grand Riviera Princess: A week in paradise
A beautiful resort with lots of places to relax and enjoy the warm weather. From social spaces to private. This place accommodates everyone. There’s rooms are clean and spacious, but could use more towel hangers in the bathroom. There was only 1 and it was far from the shower. Excellent food. Fresh and delicious meals at the many restaurants and bars. A highlight of the week, doing yoga on the beach with Ricardo, at sunrise. Amazing trip! We’d definitely go back.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: Good and Bad
Pros: Gorgeous views from the room, not overly busy, lots of seating/lounging options, good entertainment. Resort was clean, pools were nice. Staff was very friendly. Felt safe even with the public beach and restaurants nearby.
Cons: Both beds in our room gave us back pain because they were sinking. Pillows were too thick for my liking, more back pain lol. Food was a bit dry and not as tasty as other Barcelo resorts. Something I ate upset my stomach (suspecting it was the fruit). Beach is pub[... read more]lic and waves and undertow can get pretty strong even for good swimmers. There was no conditioner in our showers, just shampoo and two body wash.
