Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Fantastic resort

Great resort, great food and entertainment, very clean and maintained, nice friendly staff, not the best beach front, and its very nice for families but not for couples or singles, its very spread out so lots of walking to see things, no adult night life except a sports bar, I score a good 8

The Fives Oceanfront Puerto Morelos: Wonderful stay!

The Fives Oceanfront was exactly what we needed for our five day getaway: a super relaxing beachfront place located in a lovely town. The staff were attentive and very professional and the meals were made-to-order, high quality and tasty. Pools quite cold for my liking. Though the weather wasn’t always great at the time of our visit, which can’t be helped, it was a memorable stay!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Best Resort

I loved most everything about this resort. Especially the great snorkelling off the beach. That’s a priority for me. The first day I got there there was a sea turtle swimming under me within a minute. There are a few of them around the beach every day. Mesmerizing. Plus lots of areas to explore for snorkelling. Also the resort is beautiful. Lots of pools, beautiful beach, great food. The grounds are immaculate and our room was very nice and spacious. Everything is clean. Great place f [... read more]or kids as well. Although I didn’t have any with me, I could see how great it would be for our granddaughters. It’s so spacious so if you don’t want to be around kids you don’t have to be. My husband and some other people saw a few monkeys but I missed out. The only thing I would like is some more covered outdoor spaces where you could sit with tables and four chairs. There were couches and all and we did go to the indoor lounge. We played cards a few evenings there but I would have liked more tables and chairs outside with lighting to do this. There was a nice outdoor area with these and lighting but unfortunately it was a smoking designated area.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Our Fav

This was our 4th visit to the ORP. As always, we loved it. The staff make the resort. From Antonio our butler, Benito the trolley driver, Samantha and all the staff at Mikes plus Angel at the Steak House, they all keep us coming back. The pools are great, the food is fantastic and the hotel is clean. The beach is not the best, but that’s no one’s fault. This review is from the Vanilla Latte gang! See you next year.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Highly recommended!

We had previously stayed at a Bahai Principe resort in the Dominican Republic. I enjoyed it so much, that when I looked to traveling elsewhere, I intentionally looked for a Bahai Principe resort. I chose to stay at the luxury Akumal and was glad I did! I enjoyed how spacious the property was. I like the a la carte choices, tho I recommend booking them in advance on the Bahai Principe app as spots get taken very quickly. All staff were cheerful and helpful. The buffet was very good and recommen [... read more]d waiting for staff to cook food fresh. The beach was pretty but rocky and waters rough, so I preferred to swim in the pools. The rooms were nice and beds comfortable, although the rooms are dated, I understand they are to be renovated soon. Shuttles run frequently to take you around the resort or to restaurants and other Bahai resorts.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beyond expectations

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like royalty. From the front desk staff to the bellhops to the restaurant staff right down to the lovely lady who cleaned our room, everyone was kind and courteous always with a smile. Food was amazing! Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Another wonderful holiday

We had to change our destination the day before we were to leave due to Hurricane Melissa -we decided on Sian Kaan for our fourth visit because we really like it there. I booked a penthouse room and it was lovely. we would go up on the roof in the afternoon to read and finish our drinks-my husband enjoyed the jacuzzi up there too. Breakfast was at the buffet or we would go to over to the Akumal hotel for their breakfast and lunch buffet- very large buffet with lots of choices. Manuel and his team at the Akumal were awesome to us, remembering our names and our drinks too. We went to the Don Pablo restaurant for dinner one evening and Geronimo our waiter took wonderful care of us there. Our last night there we always try and got to the Alux restaurant and had Roque as our waiter- he was also wonderful to us and we enjoyed every bite. The entertainment was really great and we had no trouble getting a seat at all- the waitresses out there were all really really good and never forgot our drink orders. We would either read by the pool or most often would go to the private beach for Sian Kaan by trolley and spend the day there- you definitely need water shoes for swimming there. The beach has its own bar and a seating area with palapas - lots of space for everyone and we didnt have any problem finding chairs to lay on. My only complaint at all would be that our last day there we were on the beach and everyone was reading when a group of six plopped themselves down and started blasting music and ordering shots at the bar. I like to party as much as anyone but when I go to the beach and its the quiet one- I'm quiet and reading. The party beach was down further and it was too bad they didn't go there- the wristbands they had were orange and when I asked the bartender what hotel they were at he said he had no idea. That was the only con of the whole trip but I'm sure they just arrived and maybe didn't realise that the party beach was further down, but still you should be aware of other people on the beach and their comfort. I highly recommend the Sian Kaan and especially to people with limited mobility as the resort itself is smaller and everything is accessible to people- there was even a woman with a scooter there.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Not that great

Gave great American dollar tip to room service workers and everything was done poorly. Broken glass left in my jacuzzi for almost 48hours 2 days. Fridge was filled at the very minimum was only given two shots of liquor on 8 days inside my fridge and again gave great tips to the workers in American dollar. Workers at the hacienda where the souvenir shops are, they have bad attitudes if you don’t buy anything and prices have gone up X3 even the workers had commented saying please give me a chance  [... read more]to rip you off. Management at Saab Kian was also terrible in the resort Luis the manager of Saab Kian struggled to get me 1 reservation in the restaurants and it had to get escalated all the way to the managers level because the resort was not able to book me at any restaurants at all. Trip central had failed to advise me I needed to book online the restaurant reservations ahead of time. I was not able to go to restaurants with my group of family because of this and Bahía Príncipe did nothing to help about that.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya: No Beach

This is a well run resort. Staff were excellent, and food was amazing. The onsite upscale coffee shop was a favourite. The photo for this hotel is not accurate. There is literally NO beach. There is a sister Margarittaville hotel a few minutes away. I would suggest to the owners to offer , for a small fee, a beach pass to this hotel for a day. If you want a hotel that is relatively quiet day and night, this is a good choice.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Okay resort

Staff provided great service! Resort is quite run down though. There was no hot water at all, just luke warm for showers. Be prepared for a lot of walking! The snack bar by the quiet pool was closed so it was quite far just to go get a snack. Probably wouldn’t return due to the amount of walking and the overall condition of the resort. We were told it is going through an ownership change so it may improve in the future.

The hotel is old and outdated Room was clean maid was very thankful for tips .In 12 nights we had two warm showers . Common complaint for all buildings . Lack of chairs around the pool and at the ocean . The buffet was good . The restaurants excellent .The staff work very hard at the restaurants . Lack of staff at the white and black bar common for twenty people lined up for drinks in the evening . ,The west Jet rep. Was excellent . The pools excellent .Ocean from ok

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Think again

Hour and 1/2 from airport took most of first day and had to leave at 6:30am a week later losing last day. Food was absolutely the worst we’ve ever had anywhere in Mexico. Buffet was the same from lunch to dinner daily and alacartes were small restaurants with terrible food. Italian restaurant was an absolute joke with zero taste. The drinks weren’t much better, inconsistent, weak and watered down. Sushi bar was probably best food in the resort, but who wants that all week? Nobody scooped or cl [... read more]eaned the pool all day every day. The room was newly renovated and clean, but maid service was skipped on our last day and the fridge snacks and water was totally dependent on tips. No tip, no extra water, tip and load up water and snacks. Room was flooded one night in a rain storm and took until 4pm the next day after numerous calls to clean up the water which was an incl deep at 4am. Television didn’t work for 3 days until they finally fixed it. If the rooms aren’t finished, don’t sell them for the week until they are ready! Special coffee was good, but for the price, we were very surprised with all the 5 star reviews and return travellers. The views and beach were nice, but not nearly enough at this resort to bring us back ever, even if the price was slashed! Very disappointing, how anyone would keep returning here is beyond comprehension. By by Mexico!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Love this intimate small resort!

I have been to this resort 6 times, including during renovations, and it never disappoints. I love that it is not part of a large corporation of resorts and that it is family owned. I love the music and the live bands. The staff go above and beyond to make people happy. The food is excellent. I wish I could rent a more comfortable lounge for the beach as I have back issues. My only minor complaint is I don't believe the staff at reception pay any attention to prior to arrival email room requests [... read more] on arrival.

I can say only good things about this resort. Higly recommend. Amazing experience in every way. Thank you staff from me and my family . We will come back. Special thanks to security team. They are so professional and know how to handle every situation.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great customer service

Many people comment on the great service at Bahia Principe Sian Kaan and I couldn’t agree more. Just came back from our 6th visit. We had a medical issue that flared up and requested assistance from Guest Services. Camilla helped tremendously. Within a few hours she had our room moved from the 3rd floor to the ground floor in the same building. Luggage was moved by staff. She arranged a trolley to take us for dinner at Don Pablo. As an aside, the rooms could use some updating as well as the lobby bar.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Everything was perfect.pure paradise

it was one of the best resort experiences I’ve ever had. The property is absolutely stunning .surrounded by palm trees, turquoise water, and beautifully maintained pools. There were so many places to relax, from the beach loungers to the swim-up bars. The pools were always clean, spacious, and perfect for cooling off under the sun. Grand Sunset Princess: Not disappointed!

We knew the hotel was being renovated but booked after reading positive reviews. We were pleasantly surprised to be booked into a new room. Beautiful! There were a few hiccups...no hairdryer, which was brought to our room within 30 min, no magnifying mirror, and the biggest one was the shower drain not working properly. We flooded the bathroom the first day but made it through the rest of the vacation by actually removing the tile (why a tile over the drain) and not keeping the shower running wh [... read more]ile soaping up. The staff was aware of the issues and phoned our room numerous times to check that everything was okay. Very attentive and very good service throughout the entire resort, from front desk, concierge, serving staff, bar staff, housekeeping and gardening. We were in two old a la cartes the first 3 days. On our 4th day the newly renovated lobby, restaurants, buffet and sports bar were complete. It's all very beautiful and modern. We were fortunate to be able to experience all the new facilities. The only disappointment was the beach. It seems the water level has taken away 2/3 of the beach. Not much walking area and many palms have been lost. It was clean, but evidence of sandbags being used was all along the front of the resort. This was our second time at this resort. It was even more beautiful after the renovations. We would definitely consider it again.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Beautiful resort

Just returned home. Had a wonderful time. We happened to be there for the Day of the Dead celebration. You do feel like you’re in the jungle, gorgeous scenery, lots of coatis and spider monkeys. Cenotes right in the resorts. It is a large resort so be prepared to walk.

The resort was dated. Customer service representative at the concierge were not overly helpful and could not accommodate our request for double beds, despite the resort not being busy. The food was mediocre at best- however the servers were fantastic! Attentive and kind! We did not get nightly turn down service as advertised.
