Barcelo Maya Riviera: Amazing resort!

The resort is beautiful. So well maintained and well kept. Staff keep it so clean. The staff provide amazing service. The people are friendly. Being able to use the other resort amenities is great. The food is top notch! This is our second visit and we will be back again. Thanks so Susan Snider for her help. As always, she is amazing!!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Beautiful resort

If you are looking for a resort to bring young children, this is the place. We went 10 of us four were young children 8,7,4 & 3 and specifically chose Barcelo because we had been to the one in Mexico twice and loved it. The grounds are beautiful but did not like the buffet layout, two side by side which caused chaos trying to get your food. Speaking of buffet, did not care for the food at the buffet, the a la carte which you get 4 per week were much better and less hectic. Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Good Resort

The check-in and check out is a disaster!! They don't put enough people behind the counters for the amount of people that are checking in or checking out. the wait times are very frustrating and very slow, not a good start or end to a holiday. the grounds are nice, food is good,

Occidental Papagayo: Three star hotel

Just returned from a10 day trip to occidental papagayo ……. I give it 3 out of 5 stars …….. the good …… beautiful property , food was average to good …. the pools were good …… the shuttles were very available …… the staff , for the most part were very helpful and accommodating …… the room was sufficient …… The not so good ….. no atms , or money changing at the hotel , so you have to cab it to a nearby town ( approx $50 return ) if you need cash …… you can only book one ala cart restaurant for  [... read more]every three days of your stay …… the whole resort could use better lighting on the pathways …… the regular bar doesn’t have a good selection ….. the premium bar upstairs is better , for approx 25usd a day more , yet I wouldn’t call it premium liquor , outside the Johnny walker black …… Would I come back to this resort ? …. I would , if the price were right ….. apparently , other resorts in the same bay are much better , at a much heavier price tag …… you do need to keep an eye on the wildlife ….. unfortunately , I saw people feeding the raccoons , which renders them unafraid …… I actually had a couple in my room one night , after forgetting to lock my patio door ….. somewhat of an adventure chasing them around the room naked , but I managed , everything intact lol ….. the one thing I found unnerving , was one afternoon at the smaller swimup bar pool ….. on a weekend , there were a group of younger locals , that pounding down shots , until one guy puked all over the deck around the washroom area , while another had trouble getting out of the pool , to the point where he needed assistance ….. they really should have been cut off , but weren’t ….. To conclude , if you want a reasonably priced vacation in Costa Rica , this may be your place …… oh , and great fishing , camping got 4 dorado , and an albacore tuna ….. delicious ! …..as the hotel cooked them up for us …… an older crowd , of really awesome people ! ….. cheers !

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Beautiful resort!!!

The hotel is huge, beautiful and clean. Since we were able to go to the other three resorts, there are lots of walking to do and to visit. The public areas were nice and clean. Rooms were average but clean. No issues with the AC. They should put more shelving inside the big dresser, that holds the TV, to get more storage for the clothes. My only issue was with the access cards to get in the room, they stopped working after a day. Twice we got locked outside our room and needed to go to  [... read more]the front desk to get the access cards re-magnetised. We finally got one access card to work but the second card worked for only half a day. We gave up on trying to get both to work and managed to use only one access card for the rest of our trip. Apparently they went with a new company for the access cards and they easily get demagnetised. They told me to keep them away from electronics aka cellular phone?! Weird but it did not work since one card stopped working and we kept it away from our electronics. The buffet style restaurant was nice and clean. Lots of food and good variety. The a la carte restaurants were good and the food was great. You might have to walk quite a distance to get to them because they are spread through out the four resorts. You should book them first thing after you are done unpacking and have your room number. The food at the restaurant at the beach was good. The lineup for the burgers were interfering with the lineup to get other food which was annoying and frustrating at times. The beach is beautiful but very small grain of sand. You will get sand blasted when it is very windy. Lots of palm trees for shade. Enough lounge chairs for everyone. If you want a good location on the beach, you will need to go place your towels on the lounge chairs before 8am. Strongly recommend to wear water shoes when going in the ocean because there are too many big rocks on the ocean floor and very spread out. The water is murky and you don't see them. The swimming pool are large and enough lounge chairs for everyone. We went swimming with the dolphins, it was awesome and it is located on the resort so didn't need any kind of transportation to get there. The drinks were good but I wish they had a menu to tell us what they were offering. The beer must have been watered down because it didn't have an effect on me after drinking so much of it. I will definitely go back in the future. Probably try the adult only resort located at the same place.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Very Good Resort

Firstly, This was my wife and my selfs 29th time to PV and have been to about 15 different all inclusives there, as well as about 10 other carribean destination all inclusives. We were there 2 weeks ,Dec 6 to 20th. Not a very busy time in my opinion ( just before the xmas rush) Things were just starting to get busier when we left. Great Resort if your not a terribly picky person! Buffets were very good ( as good as a buffet can be at an all inclusive ). . Rooms all getting a little rough around [... read more] the edges. Very disappointed in the fact that most rooms dont have balconies and that the rooms are a little small, but on the plus side it forced us to get up and get out of the room early and enjoy the day more. Also allowed us to get a lounger by being out early(7-8am) if it wasnt for that your wandering around aimlessly looking for a place to sit down. I complained to the concierge and she said it has always been a problem!! I told her that there is two very simple solutions... 1. GET MORE CHAIRS! There is plenty of room on the pool deck and beach to place more chairs. I cant imagine the situation in high season! 2. - enforce their own rules for not saving the chairs for so long. I saw no staff ever take a towel off a chair even after chairs sitting all day ( 8hrs) with no one using them and other people with no place to sit. The buffet in the morning was a little slow getting a server to bring you coffee or water but not a huge deal. Coffee station in the lobby was a huge plus for us! Those were my only complaints. Everything else was great! Great service. The bartenders are very friendly and quick to get you a drink. At every bar! Servers are very attentive , especially being there 2 weeks, they would bring us our "usual " without even asking. Canned beer everywhere and not draft was a huge bonus , and surprise , for me. Doesnt matter how good the draft is when its served in those detergent smelling plastic cups. Also bottled water was always available every where. My wife only drinks champagne and red wine and both were very pleasing to her and she is kind of fussy! But the highlight of our stay was the Italian A la carte restaurant. Amazing meals!!!! Our server Juan was probably the best waiter we have ever had at any restaurant in our lives!! We were fortunate enough to get in 3 times and each meal was better than the last. Cant say enough good things. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great resort

All bases well covered! Absolutely gorgeous compound, beach, restaurant, pools, food, rooms, service. You in the middle of all attractions and parks. Perfect experience will come back for sure!……………….

Occidental Tamarindo: tragic

give it one star, black mold dirt filth rooms poor drainage, pool furniture filthy black mold serious cleaning power wash and bleach. Never towels, when you get one old bad condition. Food selection very limited and poor mostly same daily , no plates utensils napkins mugs, tables linens never replaced you eat over mess, coffee machine empty, along with many other things no staff, ensuring a positive experience. 2 specialty restraunts lacked the same food quality and service.  [... read more]poor training and lack of staff. door keys never worked and this is was your fault rude vile ignorant front desk staff with attitude dont care, nor really know english. 3 hr ride from airport then 1.5 hr to check in. 30 min walk into Tamarindo very hot, beach town , tours you needed to 12 hr or more to do a tour as it very far distance to do anything. very tired resort, corporate greed on Baracelo providing less than minimum for an all inclusive I know where covid came from Think again sadly others we met felt the same way. would never go back nor entertain staying at any other resorts they own

Occidental Papagayo: Realy Nice Resort

Very nice resort, placed in area surounded with very rich vegetation, lots of exotic birds and animals, people around us were very friendly and relaxed. Stuff in resort was doing everything to meet our needs.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Something for everyone!

This resort was amazing! We travelled as a couple with my in-laws, and would definitely return again with our baby. There is something for everyone! You have access to 3 of the 5 resorts if you stay with at the Tropical or Colonial. These two are basically twins and you share some of the same amenities. We had no reason to explore the other resorts but the stretch of beach allowed for nice long walks. If you enjoy the water, make sure to bring water shoes as it is quite rocky in most areas. Ther [... read more]e are some access points where soft sand is available. There is an amazing water park for kids right by the main pools, as well as a larger one at an additional cost. There is a casino, bowling, a mall, rock climbing and so much more available to you. If you enjoy getting a workout in the gym was amazing and also included towel service. Food was great! Lots of options and good quality. The evening shows weren’t to our tastes, but the auditoriums were always packed. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and plan to return again! The only bad experience was the transportation back to the airport. We were packed into a tiny van & made to sit at the very back where there was no windows or airflow. I’m not claustrophobic by any means, but this is not an experience I ever hope to experience again.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Good Resort

It is a nicely located resort, .pretty well arranged . It has good facilities like pools, beach , kids club, tennis courts etc It need to be proactive for keeping these facilities cleaned. Food in the restaurants need to be well cooked and should have various different varieties.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: The Barcelo Maya is perfect.

The place is massive, with that comes an endless number of possibilities for dining, activities and beaches, you know you are in the right place when divers come to your resort to dive the reef just off shore.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing Resort, Beautiful Vacation

Amazing resort, staff were so kind, food was good, overall resort (pools ,bars, beach) fantastic! You also have access to the other 3 or 4 resorts in the compound which was great! There is a maya mall, casino, activities even a Mexican market all within the resort which was amazing. Also did the caves and tulum ruins excursion that was phenomenal. I highly recommend this resort, I would revisit 110%.

First time visitors....lovely resort. Beautiful landscaping and the staff was top notch ! Cons...entertainment ...asides from aqua aerobics , the pool area was very dull....elevator music and Disney songs. Drinks veeeery weak....I'm a lightweight and didn't even catch a buzz. Would go back again...the pros outweighed the cons..BUT will bring my own rum to top up my drink :0)

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Great value

All in all great resort with a wonderful location offering lots of different decent food and entertainment options. Not sure if you could find a better resort for the price in the Dominican therefore I strongly recommend it.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Bacelo hotel in Dominican Republic

We stayed here for 4 days . It was our 1st time travel. The beach the pool was nice and we felt safe while we here. The hotel room wasn't big and so dark. We couldn't sleep and relax because the staffs started to clean and maintain the garden area by 8am( it was so annoying). The food is ok to eat( no coconut serve for free and no seafood at well even we went to seafood restaurants). Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Great week!

Eliana Anton from Trip Central got a good package for us three. Looking to play golf , we had to deal with afternoon reservations but we had a great time. ( not necessarily if we speak about golf performances but it is another story ! )

Occidental Punta Cana: Great time at this resort!

Beautiful beach with palm trees that offered enough shade for us. Very nice shaped pools with various degrees of depth. Amazing animacion team. Nice grounds, lobby, buffet food - but no bacon during our stay, lol. Live music in the lobby in the afternoons. The negative reviews didn't materialize for us, except, maybe, for one thing - waiting staff could be more hospitable, but eventually we found pleasant people and we stuck with those. Occidental Papagayo: Amazing Resort!

This hotel was great! My first time here. It was recommended by a friend. The grounds were beautiful. I loved all the wild life on this resort. My room was large and clean. Housekeeping did an awesome job everyday. Except for replenishing my alcohol in the minifridge and replacing the coffee in my room. When I first arrived my safe was not in working order and I had to call twice and wait two hours for two people to finally fix it. The food was awesome! Occidental Papagayo: Exceeded Our Expectations

The grounds, although hilly, are beautiful. Glad there was a shuttle available to get from point A to point B. Staff all had smiles even though they were running their feet off. Our needs were met throughout the week. Very clean & lush resort with many great views of the bay. Very few people on the beach. Had a marvellous massage from Maria on the beach. On The Beach Tours had very appealing options to explore the area. They have a desk in the lobby. We booked a private Catamaran for 4 hours for [... read more] 11 people that was well run and informative by Executive Tours. Tasty snacks and wide range of cocktails, beer, etc. Snorkeled in a calm bay and visited a remote beach. Lots of shade on the Cat if you wanted it. Buffet was pretty good overall. A la carte choices included Asian and Italian 4 course selections. The beef was amazing! Drinks from the bars did their job! If it isn't strong enough, just ask for "mucho rum". At night it was essential to keep the patio door locked to avoid raccoons from opening the door to check for food inside your room. A little unnerving at first. Iguanas, monkeys, birds through the property.
