My wife and I were looking for a relaxing week on a nice beach and Coral Level at Iberostar Bavaro certainly delivered. We ate at the Coral buffet for breakfast and lunch everyday and the food was very good. Decent selection and fresh fruit in the mornings and a good variety for lunch. Enjoyed the a la cartes for dinner although we both thought the Mexican was the weakest here. Our room was fantastic! Beachfront walkout to a patio area with both table and chairs and 2 loungers and a nice view of[... read more] the ocean. Everything was close enough and were able to quickly get a cart to the front for the restaurants/shops up there. All in all, was the resort we were looking for for his vacation. We have been to Punta Cana 7 times before and therefore didn't do any excursions.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar Resort in Puerto Plata
We found the resort to be very pleasant well maintained property was in good shape food could have used a bit of an improvement to wish the food and buffets were labeled because it was hard to decide which you want to eat if you didn't know what the name it was

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Wonderful resort!
The grounds were beautiful, clean and well manicured. The room was nothing special but how much time do you spend in your room anyway?
The pool was large and wonderful. We enjoyed our vacation and would recommend it!
The only negative is that the room had alot of humidity so much so that the sheets felt wet when you finally go to bed.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Beautiful Resort
I went to the coral in October. It was a very beautiful resort. This was my first time traveling alone but after I left I knew I would go back. I can't say enough about the staff. They were so friendly and always remembered your name. It's a small resort but if you wanted more you could go to the sister resort next door which is a short walk. I recommend this resort for sure.
The resort is located in a beautiful area. The rooms are large and kept clean. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room service was good but didn’t speak English. Would recommend this resort.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Resort needs some TLC & Repair
Hotel staff where wonderful, friendly & helpful! The Resort itself needs some improvements. Bar pool was emptied on day 3 which was not a big deal for us however it was in need of repair due to tiles missing. The pool will be at least a month down for repair.
While the main pool was under repair the secondary pool was then the main pool. It has missing tiles and most ladders where also in need of repair. You just have to be careful where to walk and to watch where you get out of the pool to mak[... read more]e sure the ladder is safe.
There was a shortage of white wine in most places on the resort.
I believe there was a shortage of things to Cuba as food was limited. Ala Carte's were better than the buffet.
We changed rooms after the first night due to safe not working, no remote, toilet not working properly, and phone not working and no towels. Our second room was suitable.
The maid staff did a wonderful job of cleaning our room and always helpful and friendly.
For a beach towel you will need to use your credit card for $10 USA & when you return the beach towel you will be re-imbursed the money. (This is a first for me)
The beach area in the water has rocks which can hurt or cut you if the waves take you. You had to be very careful.
I am not sure if the hotel was short staffed as there are very few servers, however the staff that did come around where again friendly and helpful.
This is not a hotel that I would recommend, but we did have a good time regardless.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Amazing Location
Spent a week at Iberostar ParaÃso Del Mar. beautiful, lush jungle like location only a half hour drive from the Cancun airport. This is now a non smoking resort. This was great for us but we heard many people complain that they weren’t aware of this fact. A solid resort that is good value. Lots of work occurring around the property to make the resort even more appealing.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fun family time
We had fun family time at Iberostar. The rooms were spacious, the grounds were beautiful. We actually liked all the walking. The beach was beautiful. The small water park was a nice added touch of fun for my toddler and us as well. I usually don't have a problem with the food, but i think because Cuba was having a food shortage the hotel did the best with what they had. I heard from people from other hotels and it seemed like ours was still better. Also, November brought lots of little bugs, bri[... read more]ng bug spray!!!
Having just returned from a wonderful vacation here, I can report that by far, the good far out weighed anything negative. The ride from the airport is long (about one and a half hours+-) and that can be a turn off for some. It went by quickly with a great guide on the bus. The rooms were nice, clean, quiet...the grounds were well maintained, the beach was fabulous - the water warm and beach cleaned daily of any seaweed that may have been washed ashore overnight. The food (after reading lots [... read more]of negative comments about the food in Cuba) was surprisingly very good. I always laugh about the comments that the food is repetitive. Sure, if you are inclined to eat 3 kinds of fish, 3 kinds of pork, beef, various salads, vegetables, pastas, ice cream and so many pastries EVERY DAY and every meal at home...lol. Well, you might find it "repetitive". But reasonable people, respectful to the food shortages in the country and the sincere desire to satisfy their beloved tourists, will be pleasantly surprised and I guarantee that you will not lose weight! Drinks...well, yes, they had a day or two of no Cola but that was about it. Any kind of liquor you wanted was available. Spanish Coffee...amazing Cappuccino (complete with the Starbucks style foam artistry), cold beer at every bar...no problems whatsoever with quality or quantity.
The resort itself is new (two years this month I believe) and I would say it is of the more modern style. We generally prefer traditional resorts and find the newer modern ones cold, I didn't feel that way about this place. Modern but warmer than most. We had a second floor ocean view room that we paid extra for and I am not sure I would do that again. We did have a view of the ocean and a nice sunrise view but it was reasonably far away from the beach and probably not worth it for the most part. I did not see the top floor mega suites in person but, they looked really nice and only two per building..either facing the sunrise/ocean view or, to the inside of the resort. If you need a giant suite..go for it - it looked really nice. The low floor step into the pool rooms were very nice too. I am not sure how much extra. None were available when we booked. You lack perhaps a bit of privacy since most can be seen from the sidewalks but, you can step out of your room into your private area pool which are all connected to the main pools. Very cool and I think most people who had those enjoyed them. I think you can't go wrong with any of the rooms.
When you are at the Coral level, you can freely go to and enjoy the many amenities of the attached Esmeralda main family hotel. It has a great lobby...huge pool, and other features not available in the smaller Coral level. We went a couple of times and enjoyed it (much louder and full) but were happy to be on our more peaceful and smaller Coral Level side. It was nice to be able to experience both whenever you wanted.
Other 'stuff' to do. Well, there is a small 'village' for shopping within a 10 minute walk but many of the stores were closed and those that were open had the usual tourist trinkets, booze store, small grocery store (with crazy high prices), a nice spa and not much more. It made for a nice short excursion. There is also a very nice and newly built (not yet fully opened) Dolphinarium but no dolphins there yet. You can walk (or ask the hotel to drive you in one of their electric carts) there to see it for free right now. It is not yet open but they will let you walk around and see some huge turtles, rays etc. now. We did not take any outside excursions so I cannot comment on those. There is a deserted beach in that area too (a bit farther from the Dolphin area) for those so inclined too.
Best of all for last...the staff are incredible....ALL of them...if I started to name names, I would fill the page...from the wonderful people at the buffet, the grounds keepers, the bar tenders at all of the bars, the life guards and staff on the beach, the front desk staff, management, the spa staff, the chefs and cooks, the amazing entertainers especially Jose Luis who entertained us nightly and often through the day in the lobby with great sing alongs etc. .... I KNOW I missed some and that's why I said 'ALL'....I did not find anyone who wasn't genuinely friendly and fun. Awesome people!
Overall...we loved the week and had a great time. We would recommend this resort to others without hesitation if you like the amenities as described. We do like the Iberostar brand and this one does not disappoint (us at least). In all of Cuba, go with an open mind and slightly lower expectations remembering how much you paid. Trip Central and our rep, Tammy Beamish were great and thorough with reminders and email updates. Also, if you enjoy the staff and connect, you will be blessed with meeting and learning from awesome people. If you are the type who goes on vacation to snap fingers at people, demand and look only for the negative and not the overwhelming positive...well, you should probably stay home (from everywhere lol). Enjoy life.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Wonderful resort
I just came back from the 2 weeks vacation in this beautiful resort. First the grounds were exceptionally well maintained due to the hard work of many gardeners who are working there. The beach is beautiful, it does changes several times a day due to high and low tide, hence it’s difficult to predict the size of the sitting area. Beach sand is white and perfectly fine. Beach is also cleaned daily if any weeds come through the night. Food was good for Cuban standards and no issues at all findin[... read more]g something you like. Staff is exceptionally good and helpful anywhere in the resort. Front reception bar is top notch with premium alcohol served. Thanks to all of the bartenders and ladies working there. We had swim out suite and was definitely worth to have it. I will definitely come back to this hotel in the future.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good resort
The resort is situated on the beautiful beach with crystal water, it is great wing foiling and kiting. The beach stretches for several miles . Colorful villas with spacious rooms. Good service, the staff is very friendly, The food is good but not enough fresh vegetables.
Our 2 week stay was from Oct. 28th to Nov. 11th, 2023. First of all, Iberostar Selection Esmeralda in Santa Cruz is a beautiful resort and the staff do their best to please all visitors. My wife and I stayed in a suite in building #5 which was fantastic. A bedroom with a spa, shower, bathroom, and a television. In the livingroom was a sofa, chairs coffee table, a second television, and another bathroom. There were patio doors leading from the bedroom and the livingroom which gave us private ac[... read more]cess to two balconies where we could sit and relax outdoors. The only problems that we encountered in our suite was we had to get them to change the batteries for the safe 3 times, unblock one of the toilets, and change a battery for one of the TV remotes.
There were only two a la carte restaurants open, Cuban and Mediterranean. Both located at the same restaurant. We went once to each during our two weeks.
The buffet is where we ate regularly. The first week there was a reasonably good choice of food, including fish at several meals. The second week the choice of food was not as good as week one. For the two weeks we were there, no eggs were served at breakfast. Also, a couple of times they had no bread or butter. In the buffet and at the lobby bar, they seldom had white wine. In the buffet, on one or two occasions, they had no white nor red wine. We would like to express our thanks to Reinier Baez a waiter who tried his best to take care of our needs. He does his best to serve his customers and to make everyone feel welcome.
On a regular basis they were missing small bottles of cola (for rum and coke) and pineapple juice for pina colada. In the lobby, on one occasion Genny was able to get me two cans of Pepsi.
At the small pool, Junior (the bartender) took care of our needs during our first several days and we would like to express our thanks to him. We stayed at the small pool for a part of our first week only. The chairs around the pool were not comfortable and I ended-up with a sore back from sitting in one. The chairs are of poor quality at the small pool. The chairs at the large pool were of better quality and seemed to be newer, so we spent a lot of time there. To the best of my knowledge, there were no excursions available there.
Two of our friends. reservation no: 66132995 in the name Edith Bouchard and Ghislain Hainault, also went with us to Cuba. In addition to our problems, they had a few other problems. After one night in their room in building #4 near the large pool, they asked to change rooms due to the noise (music) late in the evening. The next day they were moved to the room across the hall from our suite. However, the air conditioner didn’t work and maintenance was unable to repair it . A lot of time was wasted waiting for air conditioner repairs. The next day they were moved a few rooms down the hall. The only problem that they had in that room was the necessity to have the batteries changed for the room safe. Our friends spent a lot of time relaxing at the beach. It took several days before a cleanup was done at the beach.
We paid for a 5 Star resort, however we don’t feel that we got what we were entitled to, so we are asking you for a refund of $500.00 for each person or credits from Iberostar for future stays at their resorts in Mexico or Dominican Republic.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Not a 5 star resort
Thumbs up for the cleaning lady. Nice grounds. Couldn't use the beach as we wanted due to massive attacks from mosquitos. Bad drinking water (taste like mold). Entertainment not that great. Not much variety on food, tasteless watermelon, no natural eggs (only powder) no tomatoes. Bad internet.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Good Resort in need of Care!
2.5 STARS at best.
-----
Ensenachos' beach is fantastic, that's for sure! Megano is nice.
- Staff is the usual we get in Cuban resorts, they're helpfull and very friendly specially if you tip them for everything, nothing new here.
The hotel itself is old and shows it in the "details", a great set up though in need of repairs and general maintenance.
- Food, you must not be a "pick or gourmet eater" but you probably know that already.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Perfect holiday!
The hotel was amazing - clean, service was great, food was OK, drinks were good, beach was awesome, pool was lovely - there was always chairs to sit in, whether it be by the beach or the pool, so we didn't feel crowded. We took an excursion around the island which was also very good and well organized. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing, satisfying holiday.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Would not go back
The flight with Sunwing was probably the best of the vacation...the resort is run down, pools in bad shape, tiles missing everywhere, not clean water. But the worst is food..its not my first time in Cuba, but this was bad..no eggs, no juice, no meat, the odd piece of fish here and there..pasta for breakfast, lunch, supper for 7 days..and the bar system at the lobby is the worst..plus absolutely no mix..no juice, no pop, so no mohitos, no Pina Colada , nothing..just awful, The weather was[... read more] beautiful, the beach nice..thats about it.
All in all not a good vacation..too much missing
