Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: beautiful place.........lousy atmosphere

I arrived on site at 7 in the evening and booked into my room. Upon entering,there was an extreme odor of humidity and mold. There was a band of mold around the room about 12 inches high. I had specified queen bed but there were two singles in the room. ı went into the bathroom and when I flushed,there was a squealing for about 10 minutes from the toilet. Next to the T.V. It worked but the remote didn't so I went to the front desk to change rooms. They told me that there were none available til [... read more]l 2 P.M. the next day so I stayed the night in the room. The next day, i managed to change rooms but they charged me an upgrade. when I told the lady that it was not my fault that there were no more rooms available to me,she replied....it is not my fault either.......I paid.I understand that the resort is a 3 and a half stars so I accepted what that meant. the food was good but not a lot of choice. The service was not great. The worst thing that i encountered really bad was the aggressiveness of the people there. Lots of confrontations including myself on 3 occasions. The bar was small and not a lot of choice.Service was slow. On the beach we had to pay for drinks and food which I had never encountered in other places in Holguin. when this was calculated into the cost,it was the same price as going to a 4 star hotel. I don't like to complain because I understand the difference between a 3 star and a 5 star hotel in Cuba.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great!

Food was great for cuba, crystal clear waters, could'nt ask for anything more. I didn't except such cleanliness at the resort and I was shocked. So many restaurants to choose from. Best of all... the staff!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: great time

Hotel was clean, food had a lot of variety and there was lots of activities, eg. Minnie put competitions, ping pong competitions, bingo, dance lessons, morning yoga and even a drink making competition every day. Jeep excursion was a lot of fun.

Starfish Varadero: Beautiful Resort

Good value for the money, lots of food choices in the Cafeteria, Friendly Staff and beautiful pools, i can go back again. Met a lot of people from different Parts of the world, the location was excellent, you don't need to walk too much to get to the beach and its near Varadero Downtown

Club Amigo Mayanabo: Its a beautiful resort

in my openion its excellent place we enjoyed our stay. we already recommend this place they even wants to come back , we have the same tropical food, we cant complaint well come if the price is right.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Disappointing

Hotel grounds clean, most staff courteous, but noisy up until the last night--had to move 3 times, first night moved due to noise from the stage. The night before we left there was a water leak in bathroom at the toilet. Maintenance took 2 hours to come to our room and was unable to fix the leak so we moved to another room at 11;00 p.m. But before even staying 5 minutes in that room we noticed the water was shut off. I called reception and we were then moved to room next door. On the way to the  [... read more]beach the Cubans were standing just on the out skirts of the resort asking for food/alcohol & clothing. Now to advise further the Buffet, food was good but noticed Cuban's that were staying in the resort had big purses with plastic bags inside. They then dumped plate fulls of chicken/ribs and deserts in the bags and left. As for the alcohol the Cubans also got glasses filled with brandy/dark rum and proceed to pour it into empty water bottles. One time at the Entertainment Bar I asked for dark rum but was advised they didn't have any. Another time we were standing in line one evening at the Buffet a young gentleman came out of the bathroom and yelled out "I'm going to punch someone out." He continued to say there is a Cuban in the bathroom peeing in the sink." When the Cuban came out of the bathroom the young man pointed and yelled "That's him." Some heated words were exchanged between them and to our relief the young man's friend prevented a fight.

Club Amigo Mayanabo: Definite 3 star

Being to Cuba 8 times, went with friends that had already booked here, so went along for ride. This is no more then a 3 star hotel. Food is increasingly getting better every time we go to Cuba, no complaints there. I know its not expensive and where can you go for so little, but if you can afford a couple hundred more go to a 4 star. Beach has potential to be beautiful just was not raked the whole week we were there, so dried up seaweed everywhere. We enjoy going to local establishments off resort to mingle, have never seen so many at hotel, and we did not find them that friendly, language barrier possible problem. Will not be returning to this hotel, heading back to Guadalavac

Carisol los Corales: Weather you can count on

This is a very dry area, hence little/no rain on vacation. The restaurant is open air (flies on food)..they try to cover but Saran Wrap is tricky to work with. The area is beautiful and touring is a must. Seafood at nearby restaurants was always fresh & delicious. Most return visitors we spoke with were not pleased with food and rooms.

Starfish Varadero: Reduce Star rating

this hotel was bad, they say 3 1/2 try 1 star construction happening , hotel major leak in roof, the beach staff and and the pool staff are loaded on the alchool more than the visitors, they are sitting there flirting with wives and drinking , the life gaurds are drunk, every one is on the make expecting heavey tips, I was assultated when i came back from town and the security expected a tip to handle the problem, want to keep your selfe and family safe stay away, there is bugs that are biting e [... read more]very one they dont spray, the managers are not able to comunicate with you if you try to tell them theres a problem. cant belive i did not leave, i was scared not of persons at night coming off the beach but from the staff, take a lot of bug spray and lotts of money for tips, grounds around bungals are dirty with trash, never seen them clean any thing other tha with a old rag, no bleach what so ever, staff hanging all over the girls, they offer prostitution for money that is the staff , dont bring family if you are expecting a good time, this resort is bad, there were so many bugs that you better look to fumeagate your lugage when you return change the star rating and bring you own body gaurd I cant say enough about the bad place this is, watch out bad bad bad........

Carisol los Corales: They need to learn some math!

There were many people returning to this resort for the 5th, 10th or 15th time ... they stay anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks at a time. Every returnee that we talked to said that this was the worst that they have seen. The management just didn't do the math ... more people means you need more servers and more food. I won't talk about the quality of food - it was the expected for this resort ... no problem ... but when you have one cook on a half-sized grill trying to serve 30 people ,,, that's  [... read more]a problem. Unfortunately it didn't end there; under-staffing was the norm at the bars, the wait staff, maintenance ... I felt sorry for some of these workers, they seemed genuinely trying to keep up but they had no support. Until they learn the math principles I would stay away from this place.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Get what you pay for

The area is beautiful and the rooms were what I expected. There were four in our group and 1 out of 4 enjoyed the food. The entertainment staff made the trip for us, exspecially Yuny. Take the dance lessons if you have time, worth to effort. :)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Awesome as always!

I have been to Club Amigo many times in the past. This was my second time over Halloween. The staff are fantastic and the beach is beautiful. I will keep going time and time again. Fantastic! If you are wondering how it is just go to the Facebook page for Club Amigo and see what people are posting. You will be pleasantly surprised.

the rooms were clean and the maid was awesome,the resort is situated on guardalavaca beach beautiful sunsets .the locals are friendly and every sat night a big dance party beside the hotel my friend and I had a great night

My first time in Cuba and I will definitely be going back to this resort. The rooms are clean and the staff are helpful. I had heard the good in Cuba wasn't very good but this was not the case. Thank you Club Amigo.... See you in January!

Club Amigo Mayanabo: Inconsistency!

Food better than expected , service good from some but bad from others, rooms are adequate and simple, many events were not as promised, seemed to be an issue amongst employees , renovations ongoing but much work needed in general.

My 4 th trip to Holguin resorts and my first negative review. Same limited choices day in and day out. Cabbage and cucumbers daily for salad. Pasta looked awful and it was. Cuban kids didn't like it. My husband is not fussy and he had a hard time with the food!! Too many rude and loud locals come for the week ends. Unruly kids with lousy parents. So much smoking all around, in the pools and the ocean!! The price is far too high lately for this resort. Use to be reasonable . Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Mildew Central

The beach and the grounds are lovely. For the second time, the room they'd gave us was uninhabitable due to mold and mildew. My sinuses lit up like a wildfire and I had to back out of the room. Eggs were not available for breakfast. The plastic cups at the bars seemed to have gotten smaller since our last visit. We traveled on Air Canada Discount carriers and the planes were crowded, poorly ventilated, and service was non existent. I would recommend you find a different airline for your trip. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Disappointing

Just returning from Club Amigo.My room was not ready till 4:40 pm (I arrived at 12:30). The services at the front desk was slow and inconsistent. The food is so so.The best was Ashley Café. Great beaches.

Hotel Caracol: Beautiful beach

The hotel is not that bad but not that good either.The food not so good. The time we went they were always running out of food.Cannot seem to get hot water in the restaurant the water is tepid.Not enough servers . We have to help ourselves.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: more then i expected

From the food, villa overlooking the pool, pool with walk up restaurant and bar. the villa rooms are away from the main hotel and a little nicer, (well worth the few extra dollars). The best feature of the entire resort was and still is "THE STAFF" . the most friendly and accommodating I have ever encountered. The staff at Club Amigo were amazing and I can't wait to return.
