Very Nice Experience

This is our fist time in Mexico but definitely not our last time. The staff in this resort are very helpful and friendly. Our son got sick during our stay but with their help and quick response my son was able to get to the doctor fast enough. The food was great with lots of varieties. Would like to go back sometime in the future.

Our Mexican home away from home

“Our Mexican home away from home” Stayed November 14th to 25th (Celebrated both our 33rd wedding anniversary & my birthday) My husband and I stayed here on our very first all inclusive vacation back in 2005. This past trip was our 9th GBP vacation and we will be booking #10 next spring. We have also been to the GBP Puerto Plata location once, and Punta Cana's Luxury Ambar four times. We are still very impressed with the whole layout and beauty of the hotel, rooms are clean and they have all the basics things you would expect. There is a large selection of both the buffet food, and also all the a la carte choices. We like that so many activities are available, and that the nightly shows are so enjoyable. The staff is always courteous, and the service is always quick. The only cons that we could come up with is that compared to 10 years ago the hotel has really cut back on the selection of toiletries you used to get in the optional upgrade "Golden Section" rooms that are located near the quiet pool that we always book, you can no longer have wine or cava (sparkling white wine) at any of the beach bars, and as of this year you can no longer prebook your a la carte restaurant preferences in advance via e-mail. Some vacationers feel that the hotel is too far from the airport and I do get that a 90 minute transfer is longer compared to hotels located closer to the airport, though what you learn after visiting just once is that there are so many things nearby to do that it's really an excellent location. We take the local collectivo and do things on our own rather than paying a higher cost of booking a tour which gives us the freedom to do things on our own time schedule which we much prefer. Even if you never leave the hotel there are many things to do. Here are some suggestions for first time guests: - Sign out a bicycle and ride around the resort - Climb up the lookout tower (take a selfie just for fun) - Play a game of ping pong, or pool - Go see the free short dolphin show (ask for the show time) - Treat yourself to the Mexican Fiesta show (additional charge) - Lay in a hammock (place your beach towel done first) - Get on a tram just to ride around and see more of the hotel layout. - check out a different pool just for a change of scenery and different ambiance. - play water volleyball (consult activity schedule for the time) - sign out snorkel equipment (or just stand in the ocean around the pier and the fish swim all around you,) - follow the shoreline going south and you will come to a bay that is very nice for photos and you can cool off in the water. (must wear shoes and bring water) - sip a drink and "people watch" - talk to other guests they may have some suggestions or helpful tips. The staff really are fantastic and very hardworking. We highly recommend and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Great resort

Everything was great except our room was very dank and mouldy smelling. Unable to run the ac as the mouldy smell actually cause a flare up of my asthma. The grounds are very large but the shuttle was wonderful. Like the ability to go to all the hotels.

Love the Bahia Principe Coba

We have been to many resorts In Cuba, Dominican, Panama and Mexico etc, but the. Bahia Principe Coba is definitely our favourite. Beautiful grounds, great pools, excellent food and the staff are wonderful

Awesome resort

this resort was everything we expected and more. We have been twice in the last 6 months, staff are friendly. lots of activities never have to leave the resort. Food was great loved the Italian restaurant.

Not so amazing service at this resort

Hello, Looks like it went downhill since we left that resort. I’m getting private messages from tripadvisor members with “horror stories” about how that resort changed in just few months. Few times in Mexico but first time at this resort and our stay was fun but unfortunately there is that but. In not to many words resort is gorgeous, location is very nice, beach long enough for a walk ( my favourite ), accommodation more than adequate, facilities - something for every taste, food acceptab [... read more]le ( food is not my first reason to go places) same menu repeated every day with small changes/additions with frequent shortages of some items ( hurry it wont last too long) but the crown jewel was staff - compared to last years Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda this resort gets 0 cause i cant rate negative for service. It was a shock to see empty tables and no one around to set them up until you asked for it many people set up tables them self taking utensils, glasses and napkins from the cart because there was no one around many many times. There were big misunderstandings between staff and tourists ( some staff had no English language skills i would think otherwise would have to accuse them of malicious behaviour ) - in buffet restaurant its normal to go for the second plate and come back to your table what is not normal is to find your table cleaned and prepared for new clients. It happened to us and initially we were joking about it but when couple beside us also from Canada had the same experience after explicitly telling the waiter WE ARE COMING BACK ( next waiter came and cleaned everything) it stooped being a joke. Because preset tables shortages were frequent one older couple from Russia or just Russian speaking had nasty awakening - they sat at one table and did not notice a piece of paper left by Premier Club representative who had a presentation at that table and just left with his quests to show them around i guess. When he came back his reaction was anything but expected - he shouted at them that this is his table and then moved on to another but cleared everything from that table leaving them empty - no fork, knife, napkins or water glass. Considering that this was a Premier Club rep. and 5* hotel in Mexico i have no words to explain this behaviour. Two day after coming back we both got stomach flu - i'm sure from Mexico because three - four days into our stay they started to offer hand sanitizer at the restaurant entrance so it was not a coincidence. Overall like i sad i don't go for a food and hotel was wonderful, Mayan ruins unforgettable and weather was gorgeous, nasty stuff that we did catch at the resort comes and goes. Will probably check another hotel next time.

Amazing resort - best one we have been to!

This is a great resort. The La Hacienda offers a great place to gather as well as to buy souvenirs without leaving the resort. Twelve a la carte with great food and a welcome drink at each - only three of the require men to wear long pants and closed toed shoes - wonderful. Pool and beach are fantastic. Rooms were excellent, clean and a good size. Easy to get around this big resort complex with little "trains" running every few minutes. We truly enjoyed and plan to come back with more family!

Perfect Family Getaway

We have stayed here twice now. 2 adults and 2 children(6 and 4 years old) and with my parents this time. First off the service is outstanding. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Service in the restaurants is the best I have seen in any resort. The wait staff in the a la cartes go out of their way to make your experience really enjoyable and the food is very good. The buffets are very plentiful, always room and again the staff goes out of their way. The rooms are comfortable and cl [... read more]ean. The Pools - Wow. The kids water park is great, it's nice the kids have their own area to get their energy out. The main pool is huge, there are also other satellite pools for those wishing for something a little more quiet and very nice as well. The Beach - This is the reason we returned. Sand bladders block rough surf, so it is very appealing for all ages. It's a bit of a hike or you can take the shuttle, again, the guys driving teh shuttles are incredibly friendly, and they pass by every 10-15 mins. My favorite part is the snorkeling. I can't believe the species of fish you can see even if you just float along the roped in swimming area. Going outside of that(at your own risk) would will be in a small coral reef where you can see gar pike, lion fish(be careful), sting rays(ditto), sergeant majors and more. FANTASTIC and doesn;t cost you a dime. Lastly the entertainment is really good and gets better year over year. I mean, its good for a resort but going out to the Hacienda for the kids show was incredible. It was lion king last year and our boys loved it.

Best Vacation Ever!!!

This resort was so relaxing, grounds were beautiful, staff were exceptional. Dining was amazing .... Omar looked after our needs everyday, it was a pleasure going to the main buffet just to see his smiling face!! This resort was clean and was very easy to get around on the buggies. This would be a resort I would definately recommend to anyone and would go back for sure. Gotta love Mexico <3

Huge resort,

enjoyed the resort over all.... al a carte food was over the top...the resort was huge in size lots of walking areas.... if you like a massage you must get one here....it was the best I have ever had....

Very big !!!

I found the resort too big.rooms were ok, food was good, service was very good. Grounds were kept nice and manicured. The snorkeling was great! Wish they had drink service on beach as que que was long at times and quality of liquor was jit and miss. It's a long drive from Cancun.

Trip to paradise!

This hotel is absolutely beautiful!! Our room was huge and bathroom was gorgeous and we had no problem with bugs at all!! It was a huge resort and some of our dinners were on the other side but they have trolleys to take you and they come every five minutes. The food was overall pretty good the whole time! We never went hungry and always found something we liked! Whether it be a pasta bar or a yummy steak, or even a midnight snack of fries. It's no trouble at all to get to the beach from any par [... read more]t of the resort and there are so many pools and bars. The entertainment was great and the staff always had something to do if it rained. Overall we were EXTREMELY happy with this resort and bragged to everyone about it! Highly highly recommend staying here (and eating at the Japanese hibachi resteraunt) hope you enjoy as much as we did:)

5th vaca with a Tripcentral GBP #1

We stayed at the GBP, Coba for 7 nights in April 2014 and it was the best vacation ever. It's perfect for all ages and all types. The service, quality and grounds are incredible. Def will be returning!

Like going home!

Absolutely stunning. Everything on the property is so clean and well kept. It's the nicest grounds at any resort we've been to. We enjoy all areas no matter family or adult only. the adult only pool with the swim up bar is a great treat!!!

Awesome resort.

This resort had great rooms, fantastic food, lots to do, very clean pools and grounds, friendly staff and overall very well run resort. This was out second visit to the resort and will go again. Mexico also has great excursions.

Romantic Getaway

The "Don Pedro" restaurant for our last night in celebration of our 31st Wedding Anniversary will always be a treasured memory! An absolutely fantastic resort on the Mayan Riviera. We will most definitely visit again, and recommend to our friends.

It was a excellent resort

Beautiful goods great staff the buffet was very good. The Japanese restaurant was the best la cart. Rooms were great we stay near the Italian restaurant. The room was very clean and house keeping did a great job. The lobby bar was very nice the best cappuccino in the mornings. The red wine was good. We told a number of our friends and two couples went shortly after we told them. They latter told us they had no regrets. Next time we go it's going to ten to fourteen days. Amazing resort

This resort was beautiful. People were great and the food was amazing! I was very pleased with the gluten free and dairy free options. My only complaint would be the pool chairs that got reserved by towels. People would have chairs " reserved" all day and not even be at the pool. Overall we had a great experience !

Great vacation!

This hotel was amazing! This was my second time staying at the grab Bahia coba and couldn't have enough great things to say.service is exceptional and this resorts is suited for anyone as long as they don't mind the large property. Amazin food, drinks, and entertainment.

Great resort

The entire gran Bahia principe resort system is great. Ultra relaxing friendly service and amenities with enough stuff to keep you going weather your an adventure seeker our just want to relax pool or beach side. It's a little far from the airport but well worth the time to get there
