VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: great resort

Clean spacious room with good view. Staff pleasant and accommodating. Nice beach with lots of walking room and lounging area at beach. Plenty of delicious food with a great assortment. Very user friendly resort and well maintained.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great resort

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Lots of food and variety at the buffets. We ate at the Italian and Japanese a lacarte restaurants they were both amazing. Top shelf liquor at the bars, all the staff were so happy and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The beach is clean and taken care of. Lots of lounge chairs both on the beach and at the pool.

Iberostar Costa Dorada gives you everything you want for a sunny getaway. The staff is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, the food is excellent. The pool is large with tons of room for everyone of every age. There is shallow areas for small kids and weak swimmers. Stairs and handrails for the elderly or unstable. The water is clean and the staff are always clearing and cleaning any debris from the trees or the guests. The beach is beautiful and the staff work hard to keep the seaweed clear. It  [... read more]is not always clear but the resort can't control mother nature. The food is amazing. The main buffet has something for everyone. The three restaurants are excellent and entertaining. Sakura is a delicious meal and an amazing show. Overall the only low point of the resort is the vendors they have come in. They are pushy and rude. If you say no thank you they will just keep asking even as you walk away. Some have even been aggressive when you refuse to look. But that is also not in the control of the resort. We have been to many different resorts in the DR and we love this one and keep coming back. The resort is also starting to update and upgrade the rooms to make it even more welcoming. WE LOVE THIS RESORT AND CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!!!!!!!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Iberostar Costa Dorada

With Iberostar you always know what you'll get. Same layout, mostly same fitures. Costa Dorada is an older resourt, but it's in very good shape. Food and service are good. Rooms are comforable and clean. We asked for delayed check out and got it for $10/hour. Beats seating in the lobby for many hours. Airport transfer could be more comfortable.

Playabachata Hotel: Will NOT Return

Internet is not available outside the lobby and very poor in the lobby. Room towels are picked up from rooms at 9 AM and no towels in rooms until 5 PM Room A/C - you could NOT adjust the temperature. It had to be turned off at night and windows opened. Beach chairs are limited unless you get up at 7 AM to reserve them either at the pool or beach. Our room patio door or screen door did not slide easily but other rooms may be ok. The maid did a great job. My grade of buffet food and service would be a 4 out of 10. The grass and grounds were well maintained though out the hotel.

Nice resort although a bit lbig. Easy checkin and good service. lRoom was ocoean view through palm trees, very nice.Modern bathroom wioth glass shower. Lots of hot water. TOwels change every day. Were in the elite section so had owen resteraunt with good food and good bar. Lots of beach chairs at all pools althjough some people saved them for no reason learlyh inthe morning. Playabachata Hotel: It was very clean!!

Honest review. Very clean. Room: no hot water all week, no water pressure in shower. Beach:beautiful but not enough chairs to sit on at beach or pool (they really need a system so greedy folks are not saving chairs at both - which we have seen). One day we sat on towels in sand (seniors). Came home with diarrhea (hubby still suffering after a week from onset).

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great value for your money!

The food was great, the bed was firm and comfortable and what I loved most was that there were always plenty of chairs at the pool and lots of chairs with an abundance of shade on the beach. If you wanted sun you could sit in the sun but there was always shade. The wings were awesome at the restaurant on the beach as well.

I have been to this resort before and found it an ok resort. I would give it about a 3 star rating. The food was good but by day 5 we were done with the same food options. This trip the resort was very busy and you had to save your chairs by the pool by 630 and stay with the chair until at least 7 or the security would remove your towels and belongings. On weekends the local people occupied the whole resort and we found them at the best of times very rude. Doing the enter and exit into the  [... read more]country was also a pain. We did the forms prior to leaving and the form was accepted in Hamilton but not in DR so therefore had to redo before departure that was a challenge as they wanted done on their computers which they only had 5 and were all busy. It is about an hour to the air port stopping on the way to pick up other visitors from different resorts. I would recommend to stay at the senator next store you can usually get an elicart at the bachata we could not get any as they were always booked even standing in line for hours trying to book. Also our room was not cleaned everyday and the phone connection to friends room did not work. We would tell at front desk and they said they would talk to cleaning staff the next day cleaned then the next day was not. bonnie kesimaat

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Average and tired

Room: The furniture in the rooms was very dated. The bathtub did not drain properly; by the end of the shower we were standing in 2 inches of water. The shower door did not slide properly, one of the rollers was broken off. There was no hairdryer in the room and the phone did not work. After 3 attempts we finally received a hairdryer but the phone was never operational during our 10 day stay. We had hot water all but one day in a 10 day stay. Most of the staff in resort were friendly and helpful except for the VIP and main reception. I always felt that I was bothering them and that they really did not care. Checkin: seemed a bit chaotic as a large group of people were crowded in small area at VIP desk but we get through it fairly quickly. Beach: clean and plenty of sunbeds but no palapas on beach? However there quite a few trees for shade. Pool: Sunbeds were not as plentiful and shade was scarce. More palapas are needed. Entertainment: We only attended 3 shows which were good. There is no entertainment before 9:30. Wifi: Terrible in our room (block 4 garden view main floor). Beach and VIP lounge were the best locations. Food: We enjoyed the specialty restaurants, especially Mediterranean. The buffet was limited and repetitive. We only had bacon one day! Drinks: Drinks were good and great variety. The best drinks were at VIP beach bar (premium liquour) and the sports bar. Note: there is no lobby bar which I found strange, the sports bar is located beside the lobby but is enclosed. Wifi is non existent in sports bar. Also this resort recently changed ownership, not sure what changes this will bring

Lifestyle Residence Suites: solid four star

This is a big beautiful property. It has several sister hotels in the area which are accessible by provided shuttle buses, or walk.(maximum time to get to any hotel 6 minutes). the hotel we stayed was called Residence. There are many stairs and hills. Would not be suitable, in my opinion, for persons with mobility issues. There were many pools, never did I see overcrowding. It is my experience that the sea here is usually very wavy. (which we like). This would not be the beach for snorkelers. Food/drinks. There was never a shortage of food or drinks at this hotel. The food I gave a 3. There were a lot of stewy type foods. Even vegetables, at times were in some type of gravey. I truly believe they could do better with food, however I never walked away hungry. We went to the Italian al a carte, this was the only time we came across almost rude, employee.We came for a reservation 4 minutes early, the reception, stated, all these people are waiting, (she waved to show all the people sitting by the pool waiting to be seated) she stated, you will have to wait your turn. yikes..... I should mention, not every hotel offers everything. Example, all entertainment is at one sister hotel, the al a cartes are all at different sister hotels. It truly is not a big deal as there are many shuttle buses to take you were you need to go. There was a 20.00 us fee per person to get out of the country.

This was our fourth time there. I have all the best to say about the resort. Everyone was nice and helpful. Beach was great, rooms very nice and clean. Cleaning staff was excellent. Servers were great, working very hard to make sure we had a good time.

Major shortage of poolside lounge chairs had to get up at 6:30 in the morning to get a chair for the day. Food was repetitive and made, mostly into chopped up mixtures Staff was very pleasant. Cockroach in my room

Room 2star bathroom barely 2 star,under staffed or over booked,food very basic,Wi-Fi pretty much non existent,staff either not trained or just overwhelmed,airport customs a mess beware finger print all

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Sunscape Puerto Plata was Horrible!!

Food was terrible. My husband got food poisoning 2nd night , Violent profound vomiting, If it was not for the Medications I brought we would have been in trouble, Three other people in different families also became I’ll, Resort needs upgrading, It is a 2 star.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: 4/5 resort !!

The location of the resort is amazing and so is the view. The pools and restaurants are clean and everyone is polite. However, the drinks were not that great, very plain and many drinks were not available at the resort such as a MOJITO LIKE WHAT! Food was great with many options, restaurants need a bit of work as there were limited options and portions were the size of my pinky toe.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Stay

We spent 10 days at the Sunscape Puerto Plata Jan 26-February5th 2024. I understand everyone has different taste in resorts. We are average people and here is our review. We stayed in Pool view King Building 11 2nd floor. Rooms were decent. Hot water every day decent shower pressure. Close walk to everything. Maid was excellent fridge serviced daily. Pool was nice typical temperature. Pool bar was great, friendly bartenders. Only ate at the buffet , Pizzeria and snack bar. Buffet had an ex [... read more]cellent variety. Pizza was wood fired small selection but great taste. Snack bar was limited but wings were awesome. Beach was nice and clean. Overall no complaints. I have stayed at 4 resorts in Dorada beach and this one the best by far .

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Love it here

Casa Marina Reef resort, rated as 3.5 stars, I would rate more as a 4 or better. The reef side does need to be refurbished, I won’t deny that, but the rooms are kept clean and that’s important to us. Housekeeping is timely and efficient, only once during our stay it was after 3 before our room was done. People complain about no hot water, there’s lots, just let the water run. The meals are great, always a variety and always your choice of beef, chicken, pork and fish at each meal. Friendly  [... read more]staff tops it off, willing to help with your needs. And lastly, yes Dominicans are there on weekends, but you can’t go to any resort whether in Dominican or Mexico and not encounter local people. They pay just like us, be respectful, smile, speak to them, the younger people are just like ours. Also, worth noting, a lot of older people and long stay clients, us being one of them.

Playabachata Hotel: Beautiful Property

The positives: beach, cleanliness of the overall resort, hot showers, water pressure and friendly staff. The negatives: lack of shower towels in rooms, lack of dishes in the restaurants, lack of variety of food in the buffets, lack of staff in restaurants. Yes we paid slightly less than other resorts but we still expected a towels for showers and a plate at meal time.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Sucks

Hello the resort is to big for nothing,no excess to the vip and chairman sites , 30% of the people got sick , no dressers in the room for our clothes only 8 dirty cubbies hanging in the closet, a/c was only working at 69 degrees (that’s very cold), got zapped from a plug while I was plugging in my phone , stairs uneven and some higher than the other , beach full of seaweed and small rocks .The food was good , service was so so , the drinks at the bars is only what they have on there menu’s.
