Hotel Los Cactus: Very Nice Resort

Everything was to our liking and expectations, the rooms were nice, the food was okay, the a la cartes where very good, however, if you didn't like coke with your rum, sprite, ginger ale ect. was not available unless you purchased it from the gift shop or off the resort, if you didn't like rum, rye was not an option. The entertainment was very good, I like it anyway. Some of the staff I was not impressed with, especially at the bars, you could be standing there and they seemed to ignore you, however the servers at the restaurants and buffet where excellent. Was very surprised that there where no face clothes in the rooms, will make a mental note next time to bring some.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great hotel

The hotel is very nice. I found the food good and loved the idea that I could book all the a la cart on line This saved me from lining up and waiting to book a restaurant. Alot of people complained that it took forever to book at the hotel. Some of the staff was not the friendliness I found and slow. The rooms were very clean and we had no problem with the housekeeping. The mattress was not the best and the rooms could use a face lift. I found the resort very quiet doing the day a little more music and more staff involvement with the guest would have been great. Beaches were great and plenty of room to relaxes. We had no problem getting a lounger by the pool or the beach. All and all the resort is good but could use an update and the staff could use more training on guest relations. Also it was very hard to tip we could never get dollars at the hotel bank. Every time I went they said the smallest bill is 3 cuc. Your question if I would recommend this hotel can go either way depends on the person if your looking for alot of stuff to do and activity during the day then I would so no.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Awesome staff

Sanctuary Grand Memories Room 33206- Feb.4-11 Room: Room location was perfect, Very close to everything Amenities and room size were excellent. Having a his and her bano was also a nice Luxury. The room was really starting to show wear, but was clean. Bar fridge and liquor dispenser were also a nice feature. Service: Everyone was soooo friendly and accommodating. Sanctuary Resort- very peaceful, well kept, excellent entertainment. After going over to the Grand memories side, we were thankful for having booked the Sanctuary. The Grand memories side was unkept, almost completely under repair, most things you looked at were broken and the noise level was higher. Food: It was really hit or miss. Food standards are not the same as home. Bring medicine for gastro/ diarrhea issues... You'll need it. Breakfast Sanctuary restaurant,from the menu, was good. Although the pancakes we ordered gave us a good chuckle as they were 3" in diameter. The buffet at grand memories is gross and the are flies on everything , which can really turn your stomach...especially after a night of drinking. Lunch: The beach BBQ was our best bet. The bbq part, not the buffet inside. Also the pool side menu service was excellent and the staff at that bar were super accommodating and friendly. We wandered around most days at lunch trying to find something decent, but couldn't. We were told there was a place that served chicken fingers, quesadillas... But could not find out where. Supper: When we arrived we were handed our pre booked reservations for the restaurants. The times we were given were quite late and our butler was very accommodating to make the changes. Gin Seng- by far the most flavor of all. Awesome food and service Italian- barely edible... Alpha-ghetti tastes better Sanctuary restaurant- i enjoyed the seafood ..menu and theme changes each night Creole- beach bbq section turns into a la carte at night... It was ok...not great Room service- very convenient, but can be slow Entertainment Everywhere we went in the resort there was some type of awesome entertainment. Music in the lobby, antique cars parked around resort, bubble party at pool, white party at night with excellent music, aqua dance, cuban day and party... Such a talented bunch. Beach Once we discovered our own area at the beach with service to our seat, we were happy campers. Excursions: We went to Varadero the first day on the double decker bus. I enjoyed the trip, as we got in at night and it gave us a good sense of the area. Felt very safe and enjoyed the market! We also went to Havana in a classic car taxi with our own tour guide. It was perfect as we were on our own time schedule and Chayane, our tour guide, answered ALL of our questions. She walked around old Havana with us and was really informative. They took us to an awesome restaurant and it was the Best meal we had all week! We felt very safe and would highly recommend doing this. Our butler made the arrangements. Overall we enjoyed the vacation and would have loved it if there were more information in our room about the services, restaurants, and entertainment each day at the resort. Also the internet is REALLY sketchy and dial up at best....

Palma Real: Relaxing time

Resort was nice overall. Across the street from the beach (i didn't know that before I booked), decent food everyday, and good drinks. Friendly atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and the pools and grounds were clean. Resort is close to the town area so it's easy to walk and go explore day/night if that's your thing.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Fabulous service,food and rooms

Went with 3 girl friends for a fun week. The food was fantastic, the service exemplary (special shout out to Javier in the lobby bar). One of the group had a seafood allergy and all the restaurant staff absolutely assured her that there would be no cross contamination. The vibe was very chill and it was definitely an older crowd than I was expecting but a fabulous week at a beautiful resort. Would definitely go back.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Really great resort!

The Ocean Varadero El Patriarca was a blast! From the amazing beach to the lovely, well-maintained room, lobby, pool area and grounds to the thoughtful offering of services, it is a great place to vacation. The music in the Piano Bar was outstanding! In the Lobby Bar, Rosanna took extremely good care of us and was a riot! Libreto at the Beach Bar was great as well, and Hector and Adonys were always smiling and helpful at the Beach restaurant. Overall, the service was excellent! The musi [... read more]c was out of this world, with live bands at the Piano Bar every other night and some live acts in the disco as well. It is the first time in many years I have enjoyed a resort disco. The restaurants were delicious, and in particular the Chinese restaurant where the service and food were superb. The buffet was plentiful, well-laid out, and the staff very helpful. Reynoldo went the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of. I would absolutely return to this resort again!

Blau Varadero: Okay visit.

This was my second time to Varadero and it was better than the last but I will probably not return. The food is just okay, nothing great and very limited and repetitive. The Mexican a la carte was terrible and the International was better but not great by any means. We stayed in a renovated suite and it was nice, the TV had CTV Montreal so we were able to watch prime time TV. The nightly entertainment was pretty bad and way too smoky in the confined area. The people were nice, pool good but [... read more] cold and the beach was beautiful. Would not return to Cuba as they clearly do not have all the amenities that I like on an all inclusive vacation. I would much rather visit Mexico or Jamaica.

Roc Barlovento: Very Nice resort

We really enjoyed our stay at the Roc Barlovento. Had a few issues on the first day such as no hot water, but we reported it and it was fixed. Trying to get pesos for tipping at the front desk was a challenge. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to return to this resort. Very happy with our vacation.

Playa Vista Azul: Not bad

Grounds a general property well kept and clean, music in pool area too loud room service no changing of sheets or pillow cases during our complete stay of 8 days , no first aid station ,not Evan to get one bandad !!

Villa Tortuga: People were great but unfortunately would not stay there again

The location of this hotel was great, you could walk into town and the staff were great. When we arrived we noticed that they were putting new beds in the room which was great. Although our room was in a good location it was very small you had to move the bed to get into the closet. There was no phone and no safe even though it was listed on hotel information. When I went up to the desk to ask about this there was many people arguing about their rooms. We decided not to bother we would just keep our room it was not worth the hassle. I enjoy Cuban food but the food here was horrible. You would see the same food every night and also for lunch. The dining room was not air conditioned, there was no fans and most of the time the door was closed , so it was to hot. When you walked out of the dining room it felt lie you were walking into air conditioning outside

Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing stay!

This was our first time in Cuba. The staff at the Arenas Doradas are just amazing! The beach was beautiful, the food was good, and the entertainment was just wonderful! The resort is an older one, so if you are looking for new...stay home! The rooms are clean, always had hot water, towels and bottled water. The staff go out off their way to make you happy. I would recommend this resort and will be returning next year.

Melia Marina Varadero: FANTASTIC RESORT!!

This is the second time I have been to Melia Marina resort in Veradero Cuba. The resort is beautiful and so very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had a wonderful time...........again and would highly recommend trying it. I know everyone complains about the food in Cuba but it was good and there is always something to find that you will like. Hotel Villa Cuba: A very clean and friendly resort

Although you can see some deterioration in the villas, they are kept reasonably clean. I missed having a hair dryer but survived for a week. The food was good with quite a variety. The staff in all areas were friendly and helpful. If there was ever an issue, the staff tried to resolve it as soon as possible.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Nice Place

Hotel was very nice, room was great with king size bed and real nice shower. Staff was very good and beach was perfect. Cant complain very good price. Only problem is hotel is along ways from downtown so you need transportation, along walk for sure.

Sol Palmeras: Nice Resort!

This Resort was very Nice! This was my 4th time to Cuba and the Sol Palmeras was by far the best resort I have stayed at so far in Cuba. It was very clean, even the bathrooms. The buffet had a great variety and for the most part the food was hot. Fresh Omelet bars at breakfast and Fresh Meat Cooked to your liking at Lunch and Dinner. I do have one complaint with the main Buffet the hours they were open were not the greatest, breakfast was from 8-10 however I did notice they were usually open [... read more]ed by 7:30. lunch was from 1 - 3 pm, Dinner starts at 6:30 and was open till 10. They did not have a 24 hour restaurant. We arrived after 10pm and wanted to get something to eat and had to wait until 1130 at which time they had sandwiches at the lobby bar but were not very good. The evening shows that we took in were good, however most shows do not start until about 9:30 which we found a little late after spending longs days at the beach, pool and site seeing. They also have entertainment in the lobby that starts before the shows and continues on while the shows are going on. Every night there is something new! The staff is very friendly and helpful. There was stuff going on at the pool and beach everyday. However if you only speak English it is sometimes difficult to understand what is going on as some staff did not know English as well as others did, and when announcing Activities and shows it was pretty much just in Spanish. Other resorts we have visited used English as well when announcing activities. Roland who I believe is the new Entertainment Manager is good and bringing in some English and he really tries to get people involved. The first part of the week we were there it was a little quiet. As the week went on it seem to get better. We found it very difficult to get smaller change ie 1 dollar peso's to tip with. You could get 3 and 5 peso's but 1's were hard to get. We stayed in one of the 2 storey Bungalows in zone 1 it was close to everything. The exchange rate is not very good for the Canadian dollar, it was at.73 cents. US was .87 cents but there's not much you can do about just thought twice about spending money

Playa Vista Azul: Good resort 1st time to Cuba

We enjoyed the resort.Good staff and very pleased with the effort they put forward to make our stay memorable.Poor service on towel exchange every day.Was always closed or out of towels when trying to exchange a sandy towel for the next day at the beach.Resort was a great design for us to move around at all the amenities.Food was average as it seems is the norm in Cuba.More fresh fruit and salads at the buffet is needed.Think they could network from other buffets at other resorts elsewhere and i [... read more]mprove.Rooms were very clean and staff made sure they remained that way our stay.Great beach,sand and water.This was a good 1st impression of Cuba and look forward to returning

Starfish Varadero: I loved it

The beach was fantastic. The staff and entertainment was great . I loved the dog show . Great food great music . I will go back .this is a three star but was amazing non the less. The real jem is cuba itself. The resort did come with the beach entertainment as a part of the all inclusive. I liked that too. The paddle boats were a blast

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Awesome Resort

This Hotel is amazing, the staff are incredible, the food was fantastic and the beach and pools were perfect. We had an amazing time here and will definitely return in a heartbeat. The rooms are very nice and everything worked well.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing resort

This resort is well managed and maintained. They treat you like family and go the extra mile to make your stay forever memorable.my wife and I will be definitely returning. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a first class vacation. Cuba is a great place to holiday and the staff at blau marina makes this a no.1spot to be.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Disappointing

I may be too picky but I was disappointed. A lot of little things adding up. My expectations weren't too high, but (i) in bad need of a face lift - paint everywhere, floor tiles replaced, cracked walls, etc; buffet dining room staff inattentive (looked like they were trying to avoid coming to your table); internet, even after paying for it, was almost nonexistent; housekeeping should have just focused on replacing towels, soap etc rather than making origami swans with the comforter; room key (ca [... read more]rd, which also opened the safe) sometimes worked on the third swipe, sometimes on the 33rd swipe; gym was poorly equipped and it took over an hour to find someone to open it on Sunday because the guy with the key didn't work on Sunday (no second key at the front desk!!!). Good points - omelette for breakfast; no trouble getting a chair by the pool; weather was great.
