Melia Las Antillas: Great Resort

First class facilities. Food was excellent. Only criticism was the Wi Fi reliability and the lack of rooms with double beds on upper floors. The staff at this resort were exceptional, from the resturant to the outdoor activities. The three a la carte are amount the best we have ever dined at.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good resort

Good resort but needs tlc food could be better Entertainments could be better Grounds are really good and kept clean Staff are really friendly but should take care of guests first before talking with other staff.

Memories Jibacoa: Over all a good resort

food good staff fantastic Pool excellent beach not good for swimming or walking. My wife phoned Sun WING to ask about Baggage policy and your people had no idea !! When checking in contrary to your written instructions we were told we could check two bags each as long as the weight was less than the allowed weight,

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Good resort

Been here a few times, its a basic resort close to All THE action of THE locals and beautiful beaches. Most rooms have ocean view which is nice, the food is ok I guess I don't like any Cuban food though. I personally will only stay at this resort in Cuba because it's clean I know the staff is trustworthy and close to everything.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

I was always taught to say what is good before the bad. Well the good things are the room we had in the motel/hotel part was renovated beautifully and we had hot water 7 days. Sorry for those who went 2 days with out hot water. The view, well we paid for a standard room and got the back yard view with the disel and heating system. Not so pretty. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Unique Location

Resort in much need of cosmetics but we went for sun, beach and relaxation and weren't disappointed. 2 minute walk to town was a new experience and was absolutely safe night and day. Also, vendors didn't once appear pushy. Hop on/hop off double decker bus for 5 pesos pp great way to see entire peninsula. Also, take facecloths(there weren't any). Problem during our stay with huge shortage of single pesos.(?)We started asking bartenders to break large bills so we were able to tip. Speaking of bartenders (and servers)excellent service even as busy as they usually were. Thanks Karen at Las Dunas pool bar and Juan the gardener at Arenas who supplied fresh mint daily. We were pretty happy with the food -small buffet at Arenas handy with attentive staff and large one at Solymar naturally more selection. Sorry to say the Spanish, Italian and Oriental A La Cartes we tried were not that great and we had to pay 1 Peso for a beer at Spanish El Quijote. All inclusive a la carte?? Should also mention food labelling was often mixed up or non existent at all of them. Overall, quite good with excellent and hard working staff -sweet Daimtis (sp?)constantly working to clean Arenas lobby or coffee bar area and always smiling. Hope the powers that be for Barcelo keep their front line staff happy as they have much to do with the happy guests.

Melia Las Antillas: Good time

Just got back from a week stay at this resort. We stayed in the concierge suites. Well worth the extra money. Entertainment, food, room service all 4 star. They could improve on specialty drinks, nothing was frozen. Beach was fabulous. What made our trip special were the Canadian and Cuban friends we made. Would definitely recommend this resort.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Clean but needs improving

This hotel is advertised as a 5 star however I would rate it a 3 star. Clean overall, booked Elegance package and our room certainly was not the junior suite you see online. Major issues: poor lighting on the resort walkways at night and the buffet service was extremely slow and lackluster. Difficult to find a clean table with cutlery and servers very inefficient and non existent. Expect to sit for 2 hours at the A la cartes. Beach great however can be dangerous if you don't go down the slope sl [... read more]owly. I have stayed at Melia resorts before and this one is definitely sub par. Used to be Tryp peninsula and those signs still exist on the resort grounds. Hotel is old and needs a major overhaul and makeover.

Melia Las Antillas: Great value for the $

The hotel was nicer then expected. Very clean and good service. There was always plenty of shade at the pool,or beach. Food was typical resort food, a little bland for my taste, however how can you complain about having delicious lobster for 4 of the meals! Lobby bar drinks were the best and mojitos from the mojito bar were always spot on.

Muthu Playa Varadero: "A Top 10 for us"

Stayed a week from January 25th and had a great time. The Hotel was just taken over by Gran Caribe about a month before we got there and you could see they were putting some work into the buildings but nothing that disturbed our vacation. All the facilities worked just fine but if you wanted a hot shower before dinner then get it early as hot water was a little cool just before the dinner hour but that can be avoided.The Staff were great and the ground workers were always busy but you wouldn't e [... read more]ven know they were around. The grounds were kept very clean and if someone left a mess they were right there to clean it up.The Buffet had just about everything you would want and could always find something to suit your taste. The Ala Cartes were very good as well as well as the entertainment. As always the beaches were great but as with all resorts the "Chair Savers" were out in full force. We try not to play that game but if you didn't you'd never get a seat by the pool or a banyan by the ocean.Looking for something off site, try the Marina across the street where you can get Lobster or at the restaraunt called Waco's in Varadero. It's a little hidden jewel tucked in at the end of a dead end street that runs right beside the Beatles Bar. I certainly recommend it and was there last year as well. Two grilled Lobster tail for $20 peso's. This was our 7th time to Varadero and will be returning again hopefully in April. We have never stayed at the same hotel but would certainly not have a problem returning to Playa D'Oro, we had really great time and you could be as busy as you wanted to be. Oh yeah...the Swim Up Pool Bar wasn't serving but it wasn't a big deal, you could still sit there as we did and just have the wives serve the drinks... ;-). Go for it, you'll have a good time.

Sol Varadero Beach: Outdated resort

The hotel grounds are nice but the hotel rooms are out dated and need a major face lift. The public washrooms are unsanitary, no toilet seats in the ladies washrooms and no toilet paper to be found anywhere. The fridge in the rooms are empty of refreshments . On the positive side the beach is very nice. One day the main pool was closed to the public the maintenance man was painting the border around the pool.

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Very relaxing resort in the heart of Veradero Beach

We just returned from 7 nights at Starfish Cuantro Palmas. This resort , although small in size is large on service and great hospitality. The staff lead by the onsite General Manager, David, were always there when called upon. The beach in Veradero is world class, the two a la carte restaurants and the buffet restaurant are better then average. Breakfast food was always fresh, the fillet beef in the Italian style beach restaurant was fantastic and the Cuban restaurant offered great local fare.  [... read more]Many of the guests I met had been to this resort several times and as repeat clients knew the staff they were dealing with. The pool, although not heated, was very clean with plenty of beach chairs available. Value for money is at the high end of any scale. Wished we had booked two weeks instead of one!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Awesome resort!

The Sanctuary at Grand Memories in Varadero was amazing. The staff was so nice. The butlers were always willing to help with anything. The beach was beautiful. The grounds are well taken care of. I loves eating a la carte for all meals and it was really good food. Room was always clean and well stocked. I would go back again!

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Beautiful gardens and beach

The layout is lovely. The beach beautiful . The weather amazing and barely any mosquitos. Overall food was ok. Cappuccino great a good sense of community. The excursions were wonderful. Day trip to Havana ...boat trip to see dolphins and a swim at an amazing beach. Great value for your money.

Palma Real: Will not return

Hotel was poorly maintained. Food was limited and lacked staff. Only 1 key card for two guests. Safety deposit boxes archaic . Staff good. Located too far from beach. Close to town. Reception staff were difficult to deal with.

Villa Sotavento: Quaint Villa

Well knowing that I would be staying in a 2 star was going to be an adventure. It was located 2 houses up and one to the right then a short path and I was on the Beach. Water and sand Amazing!!! Nice and close. For inclusive meals , drinks we walked to the main hotel. Small bar at the start of beach path. This was nice. Rooms were clean. A few mosquito's, but to be expected with slat windows. Sheets & towels clean. Felt safe leaving my belongings in the room. No safe in room. I had friend's i [... read more]n another hotel so left my papers in there safe. We had hot water, air conditioning & locking door😊 We had heard some of the 4 stars up the road had no hot water. Also another hotel close by had no hot water for 4 weeks. All in all it was a safe clean spot to stay. I'm pretty easy going so if you are not then maybe look for somewhere else. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Disappointments

DO NOT TAKE ROOM 3111 and the room beside. Although we were upgraded to a suite at our request (we were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary), we provide you with our disappointments and concerns. The first is that our suite smelled of sewage and not musty.. We initially reported to the maid and she would put a spray. The resort was purchased by (Melia). Before this time all international drinks were inclusive. No we had to pay 6 pesos (8:40dollars Canadian per drinks). The Bamboo restaurant was our favorite the first time we were there and now it was the worst. The shower head in the bathroom was broken. Luckily there was a second small shower we were able to use. I used the gym every morning at 7:00 am and noticed that a tread mill was not functioning with a sign on it that said "Out of order. The same machine of 7 years ago. This was a 5 star resort but now is lot less. Staff was nice, room was clean but utensils were sometime dirty and plate greasy Really too bad...... Not returning.

Hotel Bella Costa: Still the Best!

This is a very small and intimate resort where the staff get to know you and treat you like family. I just completed my 5th trip to Bella Costa and even though it is in need of some tender loving care, I'll go back. The hotel rooms are large, the villas are like mini condos - but many need to be updated. The beach is amazing and it is cleaned of seaweed everyday. The A la Carte restaurants are excellent, however the Japanese one does serve small portions. They have a snack bar that is open until 6:00 a.m. serving hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and pizza. Bars have the friendliest bar tenders who will make your drink to your liking. Entertainment staff are awesome and ensure you have fun. Reception staff will go beyond to ensure you get checked in/out as quickly as possible. If you should have any problems or concerns with your accommodations, just speak to them and they will do whatever they can to make things right. Because this resort is small everything is close by: pool, beach, hotel, villa, restaurants, etc. One trip to Bella Costa is never enough!

Starfish Varadero: Has potential but staff need to some help.

We stayed as a family of 4 in the bungalows at this resort. Its a cute place with so much potential but most of the staff are horrendous. Towels are non existent and beach towels are hoarded by the staff. We as a family of 4 were only allowed 3 beach towels. The maids and servers are amazing and so friendly as were the bell boys. Bartenders free pour and pour a good stiff drink. Bless their souls Front desk and management need a complete attitude adjustment. Food was pretty normal for a Cuban v [... read more]acation. The best al carte was the seafood. The resort is going over a renovation, its needed but still good with out it. I mean it is Cuba. Its authentic Cuba.

Sol Varadero Beach: What a let down.

This hotel was nothing like the pictures...it was under construction and the staff were not personable at all. The food was what is expected in Cuba. They ran out of a lot of food and drinks. The grounds and the pool were dirty. The beach was amazing, that's about it.
