Riu Republica: I want to go back

I've been on several vacations to the Caribbean over the past several years. i have to say that Riu Republica has to be the finest that i have had the pleasure of attending. The check in staff have been the friendliest by far, the room was awesome and the food was delicious. yes there were some things that i didn't like at the buffet, but isn't there things on your favorite restaurant's menu you don't like too? my only disappointment, cant say a complaint, is that there was no bar or bar servi [... read more]ce on the beach. not a huge deal fro me, but sometimes when your comfy you just don't want to have to get up for a drink- lol overall we loved the time there, i will be going back again

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Very nice resort

We stayed here during March break, we travel every year during this time. We really enjoyed the Royalton and the waterpark at Memories. The resort was very clean, the rooms were nice. The beach is gorgeous! Lots of chairs and shade. The food is very good at the buffets and most of the dine around restaurants, the Japanese and the steakhouse were excellent. The sports bar has amazing burgers. The one complaint I have was the front desk staff and check-in. When we checked in they told us the hot [... read more]el was sold out and overbooked and that we would have to go to Memories for a few nights. Really??!! How do you overbook a hotel where people are arriving on airplanes with reservations? If I wanted to stay at Memories I would have paid the significantly less money it cost to go there! I paid for the Royalton. We had to go to Memories for 1 night and for this trouble they upgraded us to Diamond Club at the Royalton. I have been travelling for 25 years to the Caribbean and never had that happen before. By talking to other guests during the week we found out they did this to many others.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Wonderful family vacation at an amazing resort!

We just returned from a 7 day March Trip at Dreams Palm Beach with our two teenagers. The resort was truly wonderful; the food was excellent, accommodations great, resort small and manageable, truly spectacular staff who always had a smile and offered amazing service. The entertainment staff were especially wonderful and we made many new friends who we would love to pay a return visit to see again! Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue-Not as quiet as is use to be

Love the resort but it's busier than usual. The Ambar use to be more quiet and romancing. Similar to a Sandals resort. Now, it's still an Adults only but they have on-going classes and dances by the pool, mediocre shows at the lounge and they seem to attract a more rowdy crowd. It has lost it's finesse to call it a "Luxury" resort. Will be looking at other resorts within Punta Cana that caters to Adults Only.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: not a 4 star

food was good. waiters and waitresses good.[ winston and katherine.] room clean.advertised as a new resort but it was just renovated.beaches and ocean looked great in pictures but a big disappointment. beach was suffering from erosion which made it hard to get to ocean because of incline. ocean had breakers to help prevent erosion but don't know if it helped as ocean floor had many drops. my wife could only swim in the ocean once because of this.we feel air transat should of informed you people  [... read more]of these conditions so we could of made changes. unfortunately other than the weather and food we feel we didn't get our moneys worth

Grand Bavaro Princess: Amazing resort

Beautiful grounds. Love that you didn't have to pre-book the a la Carte restaurants. Amazing food and friendly staff. Beautiful beach and lots of chairs available. Great shows. Loved the Micheal Jackson one.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Great Resort

The resort is a clean, new, modernly decorated resort with a most perfect kiddie pool. The drinks were fab, although service was slow as it was March Break and very busy. The buffets offered a variety of healthy options as well as funfare. The à la carte restaurants were good especially the steak house and Asian cuisine. Music was pumping during the day adding to the fun vibe enjoyed by all. The beach unfortunately was a bit of an eye sore although totally swimmable. Paradisus Punta Cana: 5 STAR RESORT

This is the nicest and cleanest and friendliest resort we have ever stayed at! Starting at check in, the manager Luis upgraded us to an updated suite in a superior location. Our room was clean, bright and very spacious with a large balcony and a mini fridge that was always restocked with drinks and snacks. The food was excellent and a huge variety and we were given a reservation at all the separate restaurants too, We tried them all. Paradisus had three times the beach front than any other resort on Bavaro. Jose Reyes was the beach attendant and he was exceptional, extremely attentive and so friendly and chatty. There was always a bed (love them) on the beach and lounge chairs by the pool available! This surprised us with it being March Break! At the pool Jose Fernandes kept us busy with dancing lessons and pool exercises. He was friendly and happy and inclusive. The shows at night were excellent, (especially Michael Jackson). We do not have one negative thing to say about the resort. We loved it and would definitely highly recommend it!

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Best trip ever!!

Everything about this place was amazing from the staff to the grounds to the FOOD!!!! I would highly recommended this resort! The beach was beautiful as well. Definitely would go back to this resort again!!!

Grand Bavaro Princess: Breathtaking

This resort was very well kept. The food was delicious and the beach was breathtaking. We upgraded to a suite and was well worth it. It didn't look like upgrading to platimun would have been worth it though. I can't believe how clean and well kept this resort is. We had an amazing time at this resort.

Nickelodeon Hotel Punta Cana: Fun resort for kids, relaxing for parents, despite the unexpected

This resort is immaculate and has lots of fun activities for kids under 10. The food was good, compared to other resorts we've been to. The beach, pool, and AquaNick are all awesome. We had to seek emergency medical care for our son, which resulted in 3 days in the hospital. Even though the medical issue had nothing to do with the resort, we would have appreciated more assistance from the resort and maybe even an acknowledgement of the fact that we lost three days out of our week. The hotel does need to work on service-- restaurants had unpredictable hours and even though staff obviously were trained in being polite and in ending every sentence with "it was my pleasure", the service seemed inauthentic. There definitely seemed to be protocols in place, but the staff would have been more effective if they were able to make decisions themselves instead of always having to check with a manager. This will likely come in time since the resort is so new. Also, the concierge service is not at all helpful and I would have preferred to deal with restaurants and spa myself. The concierges I encountered (with the exception of one good one) made me feel vulnerable, like they were out to "get me" (e.g. Sales pitch for something) The evening entertainment was great and we would have had a wonderful time, were it not for our unfortunate medical issue.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Barcelo Bavaro Palace great Resort

Actually no complains. Resort was fantastic. Dinners were great. Buffet were unbelievable. Grounds were well kept Nice beach for walking and swimming. Friendly staff. Wonderful emergency with great friendly doctors. Wonderful lifeguards and security. I really would recommend Barcelo Bavaro Palace

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great for families

Hotel was very well maintained and the grounds were in great shape. Lots to do for the kids, especially the water park. A big property, but the trolleys make it so easy to get everywhere. Beach is pristine and water is warm.

Punta Cana Princess: Amazing food and great hospitality!

The resort had an intimate feel to it because of its smaller size. Nonetheless, it did not lack anything because of all the amenities offered at the neighboring Princess sister resorts which were part of the package (food, facilities, Entertainment). The buffet offered a lot of variety and had a different theme every night. The staff was very friendly, hospitable and very attentive to our needs. We often walked or sometimes took a small shuttle to the other Princess resort in the evenings to cat [... read more]ch a show because our resort was not well equipped for the bigger shows. The beach was beautiful and only a small distance from the rooms (the beauty of smaller resorts). Bring a pair of earplugs if you are a light sleeper because of the proximity of the Entertainment building at the Vik Resort next door (mostly to building #5 at the Princess). After the 2cnd night, I slept like a baby. My husband and I did not care for the merchants on the beach in the small stores trying to entrap you into buying something. Buyer beware! Never buy the first day. Do your price shopping first and then go back and bargain your best offer! It especially hurts when you are paying in Canadian dollars!!! Overall lovely resort!

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Older Resort

Sirenis Tropical is an older resort with little to no updates. Rooms aren't great, but they aren't horrid and really who sits in their room while in paradise. It was good got sleeping, however I would strongly recommend bringing your own pillows! Bathroom was okay, tub didn't drain well and there were no face clothes (a huge pain when traveling with two small children). Our maid cleaned our room everyday minimally, never did anything special and we always left a few gifts and a tip! Front des [... read more]k staff are the WORST during check in!!!!! Restaurants had a descent variety of food. Staff at the buffet weren't great. Often waited 5-10 minutes to get a seat for the baby and drinks. The dinner staff was a lot better! Pool is run down with tiles missing or attempted to be replaced (the work looks sloppy), but its a great pool for kids! The ground are beautiful, and the beach was gorgeous with a great breeze. The waterpark is the biggest perk of the resort and seems to be the newest thing. There are things for kids of all ages. Keep in mind, the bigger waterslides are for kids 8 years and older (we told them our five year old was seven and they let her on them). The large splash pad is for kids and they don't allow adults to go down the slides. I did notice that if you ignore them when they are blowing their whistle to tell you this, they just give up and let you go down the slides. All in all we had a good time. No we won't return to this resort, Vacation is what you make of it regardless of where you stay.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Great time

Any issues we had with the resort were minor and easily overlooked based upon the great time we had. We went with two young children and really enjoyed the pool. All of the staff seemed to go out of their way to engage our kids, it was really great.

Occidental Caribe: Nice Resort

The hotel is older but well laid out. Grounds are nicely kept, al a carte restaurants pretty good, beach is beautiful and clean, rooms are small with paper thin walls sounded like the people in the next room were in our room. We went at a bad time as there were hundreds of students there for reading week from the US and it was a nightmare. They were up partying all night, throwing up in the pool, spilling drinks in the pool, you couldn't even get close to the bar to get a drink. After 2 days w [... read more]e moved to there sister hotel 10 mins down the road the Occidential Punta Cana well worth the extra money although we did not have to pay any extra, thank you Air Transat for getting us moved. Would not go back to the Occidential Caribe been to a lot nicer resorts for the same money.

Iberostar Waves Punta Cana: Wouldn't Recommend

Rooms are dated - clock didn't work, rust in shower, no water pressure, sliding door did not lock Food was not good - I am still trying to get my stomach back to normal I would never recommend the resort

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Great Beach, and Resort, Not So Great Rooms or Service!

This resort is beautifully landscaped with a great beach. The chicken bbq hut was the best food at the beach...and the hotel all together. The rooms were not super clean, and mold and mildew was on the bathroom walls. The bathrooms were not ventilated with fans which contributed to the problem. The waterpark at the resort was great for the kids and adults alike. A short walk from the main hotel, the waterpark felt like a separate resort...two holidays in one! Food was just okay. The reser [... read more]vation restaurants the food was very disappointing. Not enough restaurants were open to offer 24 hour service. I understand that the hotel is going to be undergoing some renovations (some had already started while we were there). I would only recommend this hotel after the renovations. NOTE: English is not great by the staff. If you don't speak Spanish...learn a few main phrases. It was difficult to find help in English.
