Palma Real: Made the best of it

The resort could use a lot of work. We were told that management recently changed so hopefully this means things will improve. Beds felt like sleeping on a box spring. Mold in most rooms. Hours were very odd for buffet with minimal to no food options in between. Very slow service at the bars. And we were never offered beverages at meals. On the bright side, we went with a great group of friends, made tons of friends, and enjoyed that we were located on the main stretch in Varadero.

Paradisus Varadero: Good resort, Not a 5 star hotel for sure !!!!

Hotel OK. The grounds beautiful and very well kept.Rooms do need a lot TLC.Staff not so good specially in the buffet area. Luck of towels in the rooms and new showers do not work properly very bad workmanship. This hotel has a beautiful location but the rest needs better management.Would I come back to this hotel no never.I also will tell my friends never to go to Paradisus Varadero.

Hotel Los Cactus: Los Cactus - Great resort

A great weeks vacation at Los Cactus. The hotel grounds were well kept. the pool was always spotless. Hot tubs everywhere. Lots of entertainment and activities, but still quiet. Our room was in the junior suite section and I had imagined I would be hearing the disco all night long, but not a sound was heard. No problems with the room. Finally, the food - not bad as far a Cuban hotel food goes. All in all, good hotel, good times.

Playa Caleta: very nice resort

The hotel was a bit run down, the elevators didn't always work properly(doors not wanting to close etc) and they all stopped working one day for half a day. Elevators were a constant issue and slow as well. The food for breakfasts was very poor but lunch and supper were okay. The resort grounds, pools and bars, as well as staff, were great. The evening entertainment, put on by the regulars, was terrible, but some of the musical groups, that were brought in to entertain at the bar were good [... read more]. Half the visitors were from Russia and those people seemed very pushy and rude most of the time. All and all, for the money, Cuba and its sunny weather was worth the trip, but if you like to be well looked after/pampered go elsewhere.

Playa Caleta: Bad Hotel with many problems. Elevators had problems daily, broken or missing tiles. First day found a big cockroach in our room.

I have been in that hotel many years ago and it was not so bad. The hotel now has been deteriorating. Walls are pilling off. tiles broken, elevators not working generally it is a bad building. The small refrigerator in the room was rusted at the front bottom face. The sliding doors will not open had to put a lot of force.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort, great people and beautiful beach

We spent a week in a diamond club jr suite. We were in building 33#307. I would recommend requesting second floor if you like to sit on balcony as 3rd floor rooms have cement walls! Our butler Jose was wonderful and eager to help. Room was cleaned and restocked daily. No hot water or AC issues. It was fairly plain and simple but definitely roomy with lots of cupboard space and a safe. We ate all our meals exclusively at the sanctuary section. We enjoyed the lounge at various times every day with their varied entertainment. Some of it was superb actually! Drinks were always great. Pool was lovely and clean. Lots of chairs and cushions if you wanted them. The beach was expansive with lots of chairs. Didn't really understand the way the water sports operated as they appeared to only be available for a short time and then beached. We would go back to this resort!!

Los Delfines: Club Los Delfines

Hotel was clean. The staff in general were ok. My chamber maid was very good. The food selection was the same everyday.and was never hot. The hotel allowed everyone acess to the beach area which created no seating for the guest of the hotel. The beach chairs were in very bad condition. I will not be returning.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing resort

First , the room service is good, staffs are polite and nice. Second, the view of room are wonderful. we are very enjoy to live there.Third, the price is very attractive, only 650 for 7 nights in 5 stars hotel. Tips: You can get all information form the pass boy in hotel, example, I book a one day trip to Havana, only 135 for 4 people through Louise, pass boy.

Club Kawama: Good choice if you have upgraded room.

Better than average food, facilities and service. Great area and beach. The small room we had, was below average with no sliding door or balcony and in need of serious redecorating - stained bedding/curtains, peeling paint and some plumbing issues (drains). Quite a few got sick with colds/flu but medical service here is good and resort can't be faulted. TIP: Buy the room upgrade before you leave - probably not available after - roughest room I've had in 20 trips to Cuba.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Just okay

We have been to Blau Marina before, however since then hotel lost its charm, everything seems run down, even the beach (not clean). We won't be coming back to this hotel. This was our 15th time in Cuba.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Terrible Resort

This is the second time I have gone to this resort and what a difference 1 1/2 makes. The food was still good in most of the a la carte restaurants except for the Cuban Restaurant. Terrible food there. The service was down right terrible. We paid to be in the Royal Service area with a Swim up room and it was not worth the extra money at all. The butler was supposed to make all our reservations and on 2 occasions we showed up and they said there were none made for us and we couldn't go in.  [... read more]We called for a golf cart to pick us up to take us to Hilltop Restaurant and we waited an hour and then went elsewhere to eat. We went to Miramar and we were practically ignored the whole time and took an hour to get any food The night before we were to leave we ordered room service for dinner and didn't get the food for 3 hours because of some "problem" in the kitchen. This is unacceptable for the price we paid for this vacation. Very disappointed.

Starfish Jibacoa: nice 3 star resort

as usual the staff were very nice and accommodating. grounds nice beach better than average with a nice reef not too far offshore. water very clean and clear for snorkelling. rooms in building were ok but you are better to get a cabana room which are a little closer to everything. food was ok limited fruit selection but freshest bread made up for that only 45 min drive to resort and easy check in would recommend as good budget resort

Memories Jibacoa: Hidden Cuban Jewel

We had a great time! We chose to go to Memories Jibacoa specifically because it is the destination closest to Havana, only a short 45 to 50 minute drive rather than 2 hours from Varadero. We wanted to visit Havana for the first time. Jibacoa is a lush, tropical location situated at the base of large treed hills. The beach is lovely and while it is not the fine, white sand of Varadero, it is still a clean white beach. Snorkeling is great abounding with colourful fish very close to the shoreli [... read more]ne. We purchased travel snorkel sets in Canada and enjoyed our experience tremendously. Hikes in the hills and in the area were available. There is a small market five minutes walking distance from the hotel which had some of the nicest Cuban souvenirs that we had seen. The evening entertainment was superb. There was little problem getting chairs at both the beach and pool. The pool and two hot tubs were very clean and it was nice not to have the loud, pounding music that you sometimes hear poolside at other resorts. There were plenty of daytime activities for those who were interested, as well as fitness classes, boating etc. The resort is smaller, quiet and adults only. The main building is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting outside for most of our meals. As always the staff and service was outstanding and you always feel safe. The rooms and facilities were exceptionally clean. Cuba is not the place for foodies, but the food is plentiful and there is enough variety to please most people. You must expect that things in the rooms are not perfect, as resources are not always available. (This is why I did not give food or rooms 5 stars.) However we felt that the Cubans gave us the best that they had! We took the full day excursion to Havana which culminated in an outdoor show at the Tropicana which we really enjoyed. We have been to Cuba 6 or 7 times and while we like to try different locations, Memories Jibacoa is our favourite so far!

Roc Barlovento: Nice resort

This resort is clean and friendly , good location. The choice of food good but cold. The homemade bread very good and icecream. Water pressure in room very low and cold. Service in buffet is good. Chambermaid is also good

Starfish Varadero: good time

We have been to Cuba many times but never at this Resort. the food was good.could have been warmer but quite a variety the beach was beautiful the pools clean and most of the staff were pleasant The rooms could use some updating for sure. The price was awesome for a three-and-a-half star Resort .

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice stay...

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero is like a little oasis in a busy resort. The rooms are the closest to the beach, which has a section reserved only for guests staying at Sanctuary. The main restaurant is nice and quiet, with very good service and decent food. The pool is nice and quiet compared to the main pool at Grand Memories. The bar is nice and cosy, with good music in the evening. All in all we were very happy that we decided to stay at Sanctuary vs the main resort.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great value for money

We just got back on Friday. Overall it was a nice resort. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Paid for the upgraded spa package. Buyer beware. Not worth the extra money. Everyone has access to the spa. The jacuzzi had ice cold water and the one sauna that was working smelled of feaces! The gift and champagne that came with the spa was not worth a mention. The food was quite acceptable for Cuba. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: very nice time

the room was perfect, right across from the pool, service in the lobby was great, always a waitress asking if I needed anything, still not crazy about the food in the cafeteria but found a snack shack at the pool for fish and chips and hamburgers, real good, wish there was a way I could leave Windsor early and have the day in Cuba and come back later in the last day to get more sun, actually only have 5 days vacation, I have bad knees so the ground floor room was great, the ocean is only a few  [... read more]minutes walk, my only complaint is the cafeteria food, I am not a picky eater but I couldn't eat it, maybe a trade deal for food from Canada is in order, oh ya, one more complaint, the exchange rate is way too high, for $100 Canadian I got $68 pesos, this is not fair to Canadian tourists, I will be going back because of the great Cuban people I met

Playa Vista Azul: ocean vista azul

New hotel next door is under construction. It can be noisy in the early or late hours of the day. Our pathways are being repaired throughout the resort. Food was very good, lots of selection. Excellent entertainment. Location very good. Rooms very modern and well kept. Service prompt and very polite. Beach great.In all we had a good experience with our stay here.

Melia Varadero: Nice resort!

Everything was great but there is no entertainment at night when everybody are ready to enjoy, during the day was not bad at all. Hotel, rooms, beach were great and I am sure everything else would be better and feel better if the weather was a little bit nicer. I would go back for sure!!!!!
