My stay at Bahia Principe in Mexico was the most luxurious holiday I have experienced. Our hotel was beautiful and clean.
The food was so delicious. All the A la carte restaurants were top notch. The presentation was as impressive as the taste.
The hotel staff were friendly and courteous.
I can’t wait to visit again.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great vacation!
This was our first time in Mexico and our first all-Inclusive resort in years. The grounds and facilities were immaculate and very clean. The majority of the staff were excellent and took very good care of us. There were a couple of points about the resort that I had issue with however. First of all, I did not care for the Dolphinarium onsite. I was very surprised that in this day and age that they continue to have dolphins in captivity in a very small pool. This is something that I do not supp[... read more]ort and do not understand why the resort would continue this practice. Please end this.
My other issue is that the activities are not available after 5pm. While we were there it felt like 41 degrees in the daytime so it was not cool enough to play games until later in the day. It would be nice to have access to the table tennis, bocce ball etc in the evening hours. The mini putt is free during the day but after 7pm it is available for $15 US per person to “pay for the lightsâ€. Seriously? I can play mini putt here at home for $7 CAD per person. All of the activities in the 24 hour sports bar had a cost and were quite expensive. I would have expected that there would have been some activities there that were included. The buffet was fairly good however I would have liked more of a selection of Mexican food. The buffet heavily catered to the American palate. The restaurant food was excellent, especially the teppenaki, Italian and seafood restaurant. We took a half day fishing trip and had an amazing time and caught some really big fish including a barracuda and two large mahi mahi. Overall we had a very good experience at this resort and would recommend it to others.
Everything was exceptional except the view from your room in the gardenview area. It is not a gardenview but rather a swamp with trees with a bad smell coming from it. Could not sit out on your balcony

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette: Paradisus La Perla
The resort was beautiful. The beach was a bit disappointing, too much seaweed and dangerous water levels. The pool entertainment was great along with the food and drinks. The resort Israel’s was huge so the first day a lot of time was spent wandering around. The maid serve was always great as they came 2 times a day

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great stay
We just got back from our 7 day stay at Bahia Principe Tulum and it was very good. We would rate our experience as 4/5 for the following reasons:
Pros:
- the grounds are impeccably kept
- each meal at the buffet had a large selection of food options
- the pizza at dinner was especially good (very different from the lunch pizzas)
- the Queen show was great
- the Abba tribute group was amazing as well (same lead singer as Queen)
- the flank steak at the Mexican a la carte was perfectly c[... read more]ooked and tasty
- the fried rice at the teppanaki restaurant was so flavorful
- the weeks activities were clearly scheduled and displayed in numerous places so it was easy to know what's happening, when and where
Cons:
- we were given a room with 2 double beds as opposed to the king room we booked
- the double bed room had a door that connected to the adjacent room which made the walls seem paper thin, I mean so thin that you could hear luggage being zipped/unzipped.
- when we changed rooms on the third day (to a king room) the AC was not working. It was 30+ and the AC was absolutely necessary. It was fixed (after numerous calls to the front desk) within 24 hours however this made for one extremely uncomfortable night.
- the beach floor was quite rocky in places (apparnetly expected due to proximity to coral reef). Water shoes would be a good idea
- drink service in the buffets was slacking at times
Other:
- our room was reasonably cleaned each day
- staff were friendly and helpful
- we received the best buffet drink service from Israel.
- We visited Coba on occasion and it was much busier, we're glad we chose tulum. There was plenty to do but without the overwhelming crowds.
- The beach, while not huge, was pleasant and quiet, although it could have used some activities on the beach (if you're on the beach you're kind of isolated and unaware of what's happening).
- The water was great, they have barriers to break the waves so the water coming in is fairly calm.
- We were happy that Tulum was very close to the Hacienda Doña Isabel, only a 5 minute walk.
- The magic show was AMAZING!
We would return.

We should like Occidental Hotel to know how immensely we enjoyed our travel in Mexico couple days ago. Temptation Resort & Spa: This place is (optionally) wild!!
For some reason, the late-night leather bound spanking parties (all 100% optional) seems to translate to the friendliest atmosphere you can imagine. I went as a nervous solo and was adopted as a vacation puppy by a lovely couple within hours of arrival.
Sailing every day was just fantastic. (thanks Manuel). And the “boob cruise†is an overly innocent description for what happens on that boat. But so much fun that everyone must do once.
As everyone else mentions… the food, rooms, staf[... read more]f, alcohol, etc is all just about perfect. My only suggestion is that I wish the bracelets can leave tips. Also, a “game room†(Monopoly, Nintendo, etc..) would be great.
Thanks Temptation for such a great time! I’ll be back!

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Outstanding family resort !
My wife and I celebrated our 65 birthdays by spend 8 days with our sons and their families (10 of us with the g/kids ranging in age from 3 to 16) at this resort........perfectly suited for a family vacation. From the excellent choice in restaurants, the kids camp, the quality of food, the various activities(for all ages) the nightly shows to the choice of entertainment and the level of service the entire family rated this resort as a 10. The rooms were nicely laid out and very clean.......in fa[... read more]ct the entire property was immaculate and well taken care of. Service from check in, at the restaurants , by the pool or on the beach to maid service was superb. The staff were all extremely polite, fun and very caring....... Jesus & Myra at the beach roof top bar went out of their way to ensure for my second visit there was a bottle of Jack Daniel's behind the bar. Johnny, Pepe and all the event staff did an excellent job and appeared to be always having fun
A couple of recommendations would include a new location for the beach volleyball (too many pebbles) and the need to keep birds away from the pool area ( especially by the umbrellas & lounges near the restaurants)

Riu Dunamar: Spectacular vacation retreat
This hotel is amazingly clean and the staff very helpful, from the first welcome to addressing any concerns that may arise during your stay.
We walked the entire grounds and not once did we notice anything seemingly out of place or untidy. You definitely will not be hungry or thirsty at this resort, from the well stocked fridge in the room to the several bars and restaurants, there is always something available to keep you hydrated or full. Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Already wanna go back!
The resort was beautiful and had a more authentic feel. You really feel like you’re in the rainforest with the surrounding lush trees and wild animals roaming the grounds. Staff were extremely friendly, although beware of them trying to convince you to opt into a timeshare. The food was delicious, some of which I would pay to eat back home! Bartenders would you make you special drinks, I asked for something fruity and they would surprise me with something different every time. The pools are cl[... read more]ean and beautiful but the beach is even better. I was worried about it being a fake beach as it is private but it connects to the ocean so there are beautiful fish and clear waters. I went with my boyfriend and it was the ultimate couple’s retreat but I could also see it as a great place for families.

Riu Santa Fe: So Disappointed - Never experienced a Riu like it
I never felt the urge to give a bad hotel review until my stay at the RIU Santa Fe, Los Cabos – Oct 14 - 21
Having stayed at many RIU hotels in the past, this RIU Santa Fe was far the WORST resort/hotel!
First like to mention: Property is beautiful!! The entertainment staff were very good and friendly – always had smiles on their faces!!
Didn’t find the rest of the staff to be especially friendly or welcoming!
Monday afternoon: check-in was good and efficient. After finding my lu[... read more]ggage in the pile of luggage’s left in the lobby, the wheeling/pulling of my luggage around the grounds (huge resort) to find our room in Block 7 (one of the furthest blocks) was on, in the heat. I asked a couple of staff members along the way where Block 7 was, they just pointed the direction. When we finally got to Block 7, the elevator was broken, only went to 3rd floor, carried our luggage’s up the stair to 4th floor. I informed the front desk, that the elevator was broken, it stayed broken for rest of the day. Two days later floor indicator lights in elevator weren’t working.
Our first room #7401 - smelled old and musty and had little ants crawling everywhere, safe didn’t work – they did have someone come right away to fix the safe.
Tuesday morning: woke up to a big dead COCKROACH in the bathroom - called reception they said they would send someone right away – we waited 45 minutes before deciding to go for breakfast, leaving money/chocolate bar on the bed for the maid.
Went back to our room after breakfast, dead cockroach gone and so was the money/chocolate that was left for the maid – maid had not come in our room yet!!  I ended up leaving more money/chocolate on the bed for the maid!!
Wednesday 2:30AM: turned on light in the room to go the bathroom, COCKROACHS running all over the floor and crawling the walls!!!!!  Called front desk, a young guy came up with a can of RAID, started spraying RAID profusely in our room, directly on the COCKROACHS on the walls/floor, and continued spraying them once they dropped on the floor – after almost choking on the fumes, had to try telling him to stop straying for a second for me to get off the bed to open up the balcony doors - could barely breath!!! He stopped once to put a dead cockroach in an empty pop bottle. Then took him a least 3 mins to kill the HUGE COCKROACH that was on the bathroom counter – the chase was on, hearing him smash the can of RAID all over the counter and floor trying to kill it. I requested another room that night immediately was told they had no available rooms!!  Next morning again requested another room – was again told by Block 7 receptionist, Lupita no rooms were available, after 20 minutes of going back and forth with her even requesting another room in another Block – she finally found a room for us in the same Block #7430 but was not going to be available till 3:00PM, again safe didn’t work, was told no one can come to fix safe till 6:30PM (3 ½ hours later). This room also had little ants!!!
Wednesday evening: realized I had left my phone charger/cord in the old room #7401 – phone reception was told they’d would have someone check the room and get back to me immediately - no call back!!
Thursday morning: went down to reception to see if my charger/phone was returned, was told by Lupita it was not returned, I asked her if she can have someone go again and check the room, she said no one is available and if I wanted to go check the room myself, I can, I refused and again after going back and forth with her, she finally found a worker to go up and check the room, he came back and said it wasn’t there! I knew it had to be there or stolen!!  Lupita said I could file a complaint report if I wanted - I did and took a copy of the report.  Later that day, my phone charger/cord appeared in my new room?
For the rest of the stay: it was the same food all week in all restaurants, no theme nights like other RIU’s.
If you didn’t participate in the nightly “pool†parties (being with all the young kids in an overcrowded pool drinking (and no one getting out of pool for hours – go figure) getting so intoxicated and with loud music, some nights till 11:00PM) there was NO OTHER entertainment!!
There was a constant pile of dirty dishes with leftover food on them and dirty cups in the restaurants and by the pools – not being picked up staff, just the flies and the birds!
Some days the pool swim-up bars were closed!? Specialty Restaurant weren't open when sign said they were to be?
Saw a lady throw-up by pool one day and passed out, no one cleaned up the mess, all day - it was gross!!
And have to note, this was the first RIU I’ve ever stayed at where the maids didn’t make any towel figures (animals) for the beds!
I would NEVER again stay at the RIU Santa Fe or recommend it - being a RIU member!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Flawless!!!
What can I say that hasn’t been said. This resort ticks all the boxes. It is so well run and well staffed that every detail is taken care of. This is such a comfortable resort in every way - the ultimate in relaxation. This was our 3rd vacation here in 6 years. We will be back.
The facility and grounds are very nice and well kept. The pool area is clean and neat. The food selection is great. Customer service is poor and needs much improvement. The room was kept ‘tidy’ at best with little attention.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great Resort
They hotel was great, friendly staff food was great. Beach area was ok a little rocky and some sea weed. The rooms where spacious and comfortable. The eco resort was great lots to do on the resort shows where entertaining. There are animals are all around which was cool. The resort was clean and well taken care off. We stayed in the adult section only complaint is they should accommodate a little more on this section. My overall review is 4 out of 5 stars.
Highly recommend great for family's.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing resort, second time at this particular one
Love this place, huge resort, great beach, awesome pools, love the lazy river, food is good, with lots of variety. Staff is excellent and very friendly. Rooms are beautiful, only problem we found was that the beds always felt damp, room 2935.
They seem to need dehumidifiers.
A/C was fine.
Actually I would like to say a couple of things other than the hotel.
First, WestJet, since they charge for checked luggage, we found that most passengers squeeze all of their belongings into carry-on to a[... read more]void paying $30 per person each way, so it is impossible to put your carryon into your above provided airplane cubbies, we had to have them at our feet and my purse as well, in the already cramped tiny seating area.
Secondly, my husband and I were not aware that we were only allowed 200 cigarettes in each checked luggage, which we had but bought 1 extra Carton duty free on the way to Mexico, since we where going for 10 days. Nobody mentioned that this is not allowed & there where no signs either, nor did they tell us at duty-free. When going through customs in Mexico they ripped all of our check and carry-on luggage apart and ended up charging us on the extra carton a 680% fine which came to 4600.- pesos, divided by 13.333 Can Exchange, which equals roughly
$ 345.- Canadian dollars for a carton we paid $45.-can. native cigs. for. Absolute Bandits !!!!
This just leaves a real bad taste in your mouth when you’re first going on holidays.
Found out a few hours later that the same thing happened to my husband’s cousin and her husband when they went through customs two hours before us.
I wish that this was written out by your company a little bit better maybe, we had no clue, never had this problem in the past.
So then because they held us there for 45 minutes we missed the tour bus the providers helped us out fairly fast though once we got through customs and onto Mexican soil. My last and final complaint would be the drive from the resort back to the airport at the end of the holidays, BEST WAY, operator, and older gent. that picked us up at the resort October 7 around noon for our flight from Cancun to Toronto, I wish I would’ve taken his name or Vin number down. When arriving at the airport in Mexico he unloaded everybody’s luggage nobody tipped him so when it came to my husband and my luggage, the last people to get our things, he unloaded all of our pieces but one of our suitcases and almost held it for ransom hustling us up for a tip.
We gave him a tiny bit of change but this should not happen.
Unbelievable !!! The nerve of him !!!
We are good tippers in general and make sure that our room service girl, bartenders, waiters,.... all of them at the resort get tips from us and if they provide really great service then a little extra.
So most of our issues were not at the resort but everything surrounding the trip.

Riu Santa Fe: Wouldn’t stay again.
We had stayed at this hotel two and a half years ago and it was pretty good. This time the food was absolutely horrible. Only the Asian a la carte was decent. The others were horrible. Steakhouse was barely edible. We wasted almost everything on the plate. Reservations are no longer needed however that means if you want to eat at an al a carte you need to go when they open at 6 pm. We went at 7 once and were seated at 830!! We didn’t get food until 930. The buffet has the same food everyday. S[... read more]ame roasted potatoes for breakfast lunch and dinner. I saw mashed potatoes twice and never any shredded or different hash browns. Bacon was raw or so well done it broke when you went to pick it up. The talk on the plane home was how excited everyone was for normal food as the food was that bad. Rooms are old and outdated. Ours leaked the first night we arrived and it was a huge puddle in our foyer and all the way to our nightstand and it took us two hours to convince them to let us switch rooms. They new the upstairs was leaking yet still assigned us the room. They sent a lady up with a squeegee and towel. Then the maintenance guy. The staff are very friendly which was a plus. As well the grounds and pools are quite nice. A little dated as well but palm trees all over. It is a loud resort so expect pool parties if you wander towards that side of the hotel. We stayed in a quiet building so no issues. The bars and restaurants open late. Never when it says so expect to wait as they aren’t ready. Def would stay at the new Riu California next time and just use Santa Fe’s pools.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Fun week
This resort has exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of good food I get to eat there. Most of the staffs are very pleasant and courteous. Rooms are clean all the time. Only downside was couple of staff at the lobby have promotions that they need to sell and it was tiring when you have just arrived from long airplane ride. Also the beach wasn't as gorgeous as you would want to be (Can't do anything since it's nature).
