Barcelo Maya Colonial: It's All That!

I booked this resort for my 18 year old son and I for a last minute trip. Our intended goal was to relax and enjoy some sun. This we did! This resort was the right place at the right time. One part of the hotel was very busy with groups but the Colonial was not part of that party scene. A walk around the pier to the Beach/Caribe side revealed it also to be quiet. I enjoyed the tranquility while my son was able to go make friends. Room was good for our needs. Our minibar never worked and w [... read more]as never addressed despite promises to do so but it was not a big deal for us. The beach & pools were fantastic.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: GREAT EXPERIENCE

FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF,VERY CLEAN GROUNDS PLAN TO GO BACK. The trip was flawless from beginning to end. Entertainment was good. Of resort activities were a bit expensive. Do not take the tour that includes visiting the jewlerly factory. they are on you like vultures and they full you full of lies.

Dreams Puerto Morelos Resort and Spa: Nice property

The hotel facilities, staff, and service was excellent, however as an adult only resort who advertise the serenity and quiet enjoyment, they forgot to mention that we would be joined by over 100 testosterone fuelled IT technicians on an annual event to release their pent up energy. This was my wife's second visit but my first and I agreed it was a good plan, however in future I would seek some assurances that our quiet enjoyment would not be challenged by large groups.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: attention: people with disabilities

I have mixed feelings. First of all, I read a lot of reviews but I should have listened when people told me about the layout. The resort is pretty big, I was at location 1206 so not bad since the buffet, pool and cart stop was beside me. Kinda of central location. Other rooms I found too far. I noticed some stairs had no handrails and at certain places a little hilly for me. If you have bone problems, walking might be difficult. I would have preferred a smaller resort. Plus the little cart [... read more]s can't hold more than 7 people and if you have to wait, it might be line 15 mins. The food was so so, you'll find your regular buffet. I only went to the main buffet most of the time. Entertainment was good. Live band/ singers. A little better than usual resorts. Café was good for coffee but didn't like the cakes/ frosting - no much taste. Some were ok like pineapple cake, cookies, ice cream. I would say if you have to buy something just walk done the road to where starbucks is and the have lots of shops and good prices. Also go to 5th avenue and there is lots of selection. Go later in the afternoon when the sun goes down. To end it off. The bus never came to pick me up to take me to the airport. I asked the reception to find out why and BD Travel bus carrier ended up sending someone else to take me to the airport. It was a bad experience because he was racing to the airport and get me there on time. I got there at 9:05 am and my flight was leaving at 10:40 am. I won't be visiting this resort again because it is too big for me, too hilly, no handrails and distance was about hour drive from the airport.

Grand Sunset Princess: Very nice resort

The hotel was beautiful very big. The food was excellent. Did not like the food in the Italian restaurant. I found that the front desk staff was rude at times. Entertainment was great and there was always something to do in the evening. They did clean the beach area everyday because of all the seaweed. Rooms kept clean also.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very Nice

The resort is beautiful. Well maintained and clean. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food at the buffet was good but the restaurant was very busy and there was not enough staff to keep up. The "A la carte" meals were a little disappointing. The pool areas were very nice and the tram service was great. But I have to say that the resort not being on the beach or even within walking distance from the ocean was a huge downfall for me. Ocean Maya Royale: Beautiful place to stay

The resort staff were AMAZING! Everyone was attentive, caring and made an effort to get to know everyone! Very clean and well maintained! Food was phenomenal! So many choices. It was great that we didn't need reservations at the specialty restaurants. One thing I didn't like was the upselling. I found some of the sellers a little pushy (massage, privilege package)

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great experience

Staff was friendly and helpful, food was top notch, buffets were impressive, rooms were large and clean! The wedding on the beacj was well executed. Will absolutely recommend this resort and is at the top of my list for a return trip

Bel Air Collection Xpu-Ha Riviera Maya: DANGEROUS

We have had one problem after another. Air conditioning not working in all three rooms,door locks not working and we have waited for hours for some one to come to fix and they never come. Safe did not work and they keep promising to come but never do. Finally I broke through the second floor decking and insured my self and paramedics came for first aid and handed my wife a form to fill out but she read it and found out that it was a trick to get her to say we refused treatment and took all respo [... read more]nsibility. I could go on and on but will save it for the revue and I have pictures and video to back it up. I be-leave we should have our money refunded or some other remuneration.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Average at best!

This resort was very nice and clean and the food was delicious, as for the service, it was very disappointing. We had a large group of people and more than half of our 50plus group had problems with there rooms and/or service. And no one seemed to care about any of our issues, they just told us to go to a different lobby to get help. It's way too big and too busy to properly accodate all the guests.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Average resort

The grounds were very nicely kept. Huge resort you needed to take shuttles to get to and from tulum to coba. They were not very reliable.we usually had to wait 45 min. The food was pretty good. The service at the buffet was excellent . At the a la cartes it was very slow. We had 9:30 reservations and they were not busy at that time. It would take 30 min before they would come over to take a drink order. They were more concerned with clearing the other tables. We stayed at the Bahia in Jamaica twice and this Bahia doesn't come close to the quality of the Jamaican one

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Very Nice

Very well kept Resort. The staff was super friendly and nice. Staff was always cleaning and great service. The food was good but really enjoyed the resturants. Had problems having a bus take us back to the airport so that made the whole trip a little disappointing.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Resort - would go back again

Fantastic .............The standard at Akumal was superior to any other resort we have been to - the staff were friendly, curtious and extremely helpful. The transportation within the resort was excellent delivering us to restaurants from our room- thankyou Cindy Callaghan for booking us into this resort

El Dorado Royale: Amazing Resort

We arrived home on April 6th, and it as one of our most favorable vacations we have had The weather was fantastic with a light bit of a breeze We were well aware that the coast has a seaweed problem but the staffed worked very hard in keeping it clear every day!! Our room was 418 and they kept it spotlessly clean, with plenty of towels, and we found the beds and pillows very comfortable, the mini bar was always well stocked, they even changed the pops for us as I don’t drink Coke We [... read more] visited most of the restaurants over our one week stay, D'Italia Royal, Cocotal, the Santa Fe Grill, La Isla where very good, as was the Rincon Mexicano. The Kampai Restaurant was great as well we loved the Sushi. We really enjoyed the Fuentes Culinary Restaurant which was a great experience, we have never seen anything like that and food was fantastic We were so impressed with the waiters on how professional they all were and how they all made us fell important The staff were very friendly and most helpful, to many waiters and staff to name them all I would say my top employee was the person that cleaned our room and am so sorry I forgot her name but I have never seen anyone so detailed on what she did - I hope the management recognises all the hard work they all do! We were so impress with the Resort, the Staff the Restaurants and the full experience the El Dorado Royale that we have become Members of the Exotic Travelers We look forward in returning to El Dorado Royale and visiting their sister locations

Ocean Maya Royale: Great vacation!

Transport to and from the hotel was clean and professional. We were greeted with a cold drink at check in. Our consierge was Louis, who went over the resort information, and then tried really hard for us to go to a morning meeting for another Ocean hotel. The hotel buildings and grounds were beautiful. Our room had a comfortable kind size bed, my only complaint would be the lumpy pillows. Food was delicious and plenty of choice whether at the buffet or the a la carte restaurants. Staff were friendly and intersted in helping Would definitely return! Had a wonderful vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Fun place!

Great hotel, terrific staff, loved the food, drinks and the service. The grounds area amazing, the al a cartes were incredible especially the Brazilian place Tortuga. We will definitely be back!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: 10 Year Anniversary

The wife and I decided to take a trip for our 10 year anniversary and after extensive research, decided on Mexico (runners up were Costa Rica and Jamaica). We chose the Valentin Imperial Maya (adults only) for 7 days through Air Canada Vacations. The resort is about 25 mins north of Playa del Carmen on the east coast. Everything about the resort wa [... read more]s first class. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. The facility was extremely well maintained and the pools were quiet or loud, depending on what you wanted. We decided to spend most of our time near the party pool with the swim up bars. The resort itself had water features everywhere, nice stonework and virtually all areas were open air, even the common area bathrooms. The weather was very consistent, sunny and ~31 degrees in the day, and calm and ~23 degrees in the evening. The evenings were perfect to walk around in long pants without getting too sweaty (pants required for the restaurants) The downside was the beach. Although it was beautiful and manicured daily, it was quite windy this time of year. Too windy for us to stay on the beach though I did play a game of beach volley ball. The water was warm, but the undertoe was strong and the waves were pretty tall, so we opted not to swim very much. Besides, there was so much happening at the pool that we really didn't want to leave. We met tons of people and the pool activities (which ran non-stop throughout the day) kept us busy. We met around 12-15 people while we were down there and at least 80% of them had been multiple times to that resort (some as many as 10-12 times). The food was to die for. I don't think I've ever eaten so well in my life. There was enough a la cartes to never need buffet food for the dinners, and no reservations were required except for the hibachi. As it turned out, the hibachi was entertaining, but the food was just ok compared to the restaurants. The breakfast buffet had a very wide selection of fresh fruits, meats, eggs, pancakes/waffles, omelette and cereal bars, basically anything you wanted was probably there. As it turned out, we didn't really eat lunch when we were there except for one time, and the lunch buffet was good. Noteworthy items at the a la cartes were the Filet Mignon (italian), sea bass (french), sushi (japanese) and the cold spring rolls from the indonesian restaurant....in fact, the indonesian was my favourite despite not being a big fan of spicy food. But all the a la cartes receive top marks in my opinion. We didn't feel the need to venture off resort, though next time we go I definitely want to goto Coco Bongo's in Playa. We heard a few reviews from other guests and it definitely sounded like fun. The ruins was not a top priority for us and most of them were pretty far away. Chichen Itza was a 5 hour round trip. I did want to do the underground cave swim, but the cost was quite high so we declined. We only attended a few shows since most nights we were completely burnt out....of the ones we say, the fire show was the best. There were only a couple small annoyances. Firstly, the hibachi is insanely popular and we didn't get in on our first try despite showing up at 9am and not seeing anyone in line (our concierge did get us a reservation for the next day though). Secondly, the fire alarm in the room was directly over our bed and had an annoying flashing light...a small annoyance but still there nonetheless. Lastly, the shower in our room didn't quite have an anti-scald shower valve, so it did happen on occasion when the water went from warm to very hot (not ideal with sunburns)...it wasn't terribly bad, just happened a few times. All of these minor annoyances were way overcome with the service, food and pristine facilities. Ultimately, we would not hesitate to stay here again...it really was quite fantastic.

Ocean Maya Royale: Fantastic Resort

We just spent 7 days at the Ocean Mayan Royale.....it was an amazing resort! The service was superb, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Most spoke good English. Our room was very spacious and had a king size bed that was very comfortable. The ground are well maintained and staff are always working hard to keep the grounds looking amazing. Lots of wild life around too which was pretty neat. Food was amazing! All the AL a Carte restaurants had great food and amazing service. Favorite re [... read more]staurants and must trys are the Romantic and Italian. There is a little coffee shop on resort called Mike's.......must try it has amazing specialty drinks and treats. By far best trip we have had yet! Would recommend this resort......5 star!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Amazing resort

Very large resort, beaches were beautiful, entertaining games in the pool during the day and awsome live entertainment at night. From magic to dancing. Large variety of food at the buffet resturants. I gained weight this trip. Only thing I think they could do better is the service in the resturants. They were understaffed took awhile to get a clean table and drinks during busy hours.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Excellent Family Resort

Thanks to trip central, we were able to travel to Riviera Maya and stay at DREAMS Puerto Aventuras. This is an excellent family resort. The pool and the beach are right next to each other. The beach area was private, clean, and super relaxing. The resort offered lots of fun activities. Their kids club was amazing. The evening shows were mostly great. The rooms were very clean. The staff were extremely friendly and caring. The only con to this resort was the food was bland.
