Occidental Punta Cana: Absolutely Beautiful Resort

Our stay at the Occidental Punta Cana was amazing! Wonderful people, beautiful, clean resort! I do not recommend going to Punta Cana with Pesos because all they take is American so we got ripped off huge! The airport was a complete nightmare as they only accept American or credit card! Well when you don't have either and have to exchange Canadian to American, they ROB you! Which happened to us because we were starving because 6 hours of waiting because our plane was delayed we were starving and [... read more] dying of thirst so we had to spend money! Would love compensation from Air Transat as well because they were horrible! Won't be flying with them again! Not too sure if I want to go back to Dominican again unless the American dollar is good and we can exchange it here! I wish we knew better! But again, the resort was great and I would stay there again if we went back!

Punta Cana Princess: Fabulous Resort

Resort, staff, food, beach all amazing! Would certainly recommend this adult only resort to anyone who is looking for a small, quiet and friendly resort to relax. There is little to no nightlife at this resort, but able to take trams to sister properties.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect Resort

There is nothing I would change in the resort. Rooms, beautiful, large and with everything one would need. Clean and fresh with an east facing balcony to allow the morning sun. The food was perfect and plentiful. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Lacking in many areas

If you are looking for a cheaper resort and not picky about food or service, you might be OK. here is the good and the bad... PROS clean rooms beautiful beach and pool areas great outdoor activities and staff excellent massage and spa lots to do CONS 1/ We were told we could not make dinner reservations before we arrived. After checking in, we went straight to the concierge only to find out that we couldn't get in to most of the restaurants, as they were fully booked. Well, unless of  [... read more]course you wanted a 10:45pm reservation!! 2/ We tried to show up at the Italian restaurant one night just to see if there were any tables available or any no shows. The hostess just kept walking by us and didn't acknowledge us at all. There were a few empty tables. 3/ Staff at all the restaurants and buffet were not interested in serving anyone! It took 30 min for us to get coffee one morning at breakfast in the buffet area after asking several times. And this was the case everyday for breakfast and lunch. no napkins or cutlery, waited for water fill ups etc. Many of the staff did not speak English and even though we had someone in our group who spoke Spanish, they ignored us. 4/ Food was mostly cold; not just in the buffet but also the nice restaurants we were able to get into and not just once, but EVERYTIME. The quality of the food was OK, not great! You would think at the specialty restaurants, it would be better but it wasn't. 5/ When you check in, they give you a coupon for 25% off services such as early check out, spa etc. We made massage appointments but then went to have our coupon applied, we were told the 25% was included in the price. Uh NO! there was nothing on the coupon or the spa menu that stated this. False advertising for sure. 6/ The nightly entertainment was bad. I mean really bad. The sound system was awful and you couldn't really hear the singers; maybe a good thing as they were out of tune. The dance numbers were not well choreographed and dancers were out of sync. There was one woman’s dance number that was AMAZING, but that was all. It was not entertaining! Overall, like I mentioned above, if food and service are not important, you will be OK here. This resort is marketed as a 4 star, so that is what we are expecting. (and yes I realize 4 star in Dominican is not like the 4 star we have at home) I would say it is a 3 at best.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Very BIG but AMAZING RESORT!!

We loved the Grand Bahia Principe "Punta Cana". it takes a couple days to familiarize yourself with the grounds as they are HUGE! but tons to do. The property is extremely clean, staff are very polite. Drinks are abundant. Beach is one of the nicest we have visited. Food was just incredible (at the buffet), each night features a different theme. If you would like to reserve a specialty restaurant, try doing so the week prior to your visit as they book up fast. Paradisus Palma Real Golf and Spa Resort: Beach very beautiful

The food was great,beach was marvellous except for some locals approaching the tourist to sell something but they don't force you.shows and activities wonderful...room was clean but supplies sometimes not there so we always phone the service for supplies,mini bar not fill with water,pops and beer and we. Did not get a welcome bottle of alcohol nor the birthday presentation on our room for my wife..definitely coming back in punta cana,but I will make sure that I will do my research and look  [... read more]for good reviews on the resorts...

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Disappointed

Rooms very dated. The sister resort which allowed children was much more updated in terms of the room etc. First time I have Been to a resort and paid for adults only and the people who did not pay for adults only could come over to our see of the resort ? The main thing that stuck out for me s EVERYONE on staff was very unhappy. I have travelled extensively and I have never experienced such an uncaring,unresponsive staff ..... Management issue????

Punta Cana Princess: Amazing resort

We really enjoyed that resort the beach is beautiful . The food very good, lost of good fish and the restorants are very good.If you want lost of intertaning its not a good resort. They have good shows for the evenings but for us it was perfect because we went to that resort to rest and thats what we got.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Beautiful Beach, Unhappy Staff

Bavaro beach is beautiful in every way. The property is very nice. Not much in the way of entertainment or night life. The biggest downfall was found in the staff. Overall seemed disengaged and not very happy. Rare that they would say holas as they passed by. It's safe to say that 1 in 20 were happy and service minded. Barceló needs to assess the employment engagement level. So if I had lower expectation of the staff my rating for the resort would have been higher.

Riu Republica: Beautiful and Great Entertainment

For such a new resort it was a great vacation. Few little flaws as in there could have been more bathroom facilities especially around the pool areas. But really no other complaints. We had a fantastic time. The entertainment staff was great. Would defiantly recommend this resort to others

Occidental Punta Cana: Occidental Punta Cana

The hotel was was ok but we had no TV for 3 days. We had a problem with the door for one day my husband had to stay in the hot heat to wait for the repair man to fix our door handle. No huts on the beach as it showed on picture and my husband and I had no shade and husband has lupus of the skin!! The front desk was not helpful at all. The advisors were more helpful then staff not organized at all just empty promises!!!The rep for Air Trans were not helpful at all!!! No wifi always problems. Tropical Deluxe Princess: Great Place

Very happy ,good choice I made ; I liked the whole set up, the room are far away from the lobby so you can relax when you wanted, you can be driven to your room or you can walk through ponds .The rooms , swimming pools ,the beach,etc. are kept clean.The food is so good and no shortage at all ,loved the entertainment; very good shows every night .What I liked the most was how friendly most of the staff is ;specially Johanna at the front desk,Rene and everybody at the buffet ,too may nice people  [... read more]to name.I complained about a small detail ,next day the problem was fixed.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: As advertised

Great service, clean facility, great food. Spent lots of time on the beach with drink service. Lots of neighborinng beaches for nice walks. Would definitely go back. Ignore the sales pitch for the loyalty club.

Resort is beautiful and well maintained , Lots of pools and large wide beach, TOO MANY BEACH CHAIRS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER !!! Could hardy get out of chair without falling on person beside you. The place was infested with tiny flies that bite like crazy, My legs are still red, swollen and itchy, Not the resorts fault but inconvenience still exists. Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Amazing Resort!!!

Everything was so clean! The food and drinks were amazing 😃 The beach was clean as was the water park. The weather was also amazing! I can't think of anything we didn't like. We would happily return in the future for another vacation!!

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Five Star Resort!!!

We really loved the Majestic Mirage. Everything during our visit was top notch from the room, the pool, the beach as well as the restaurants. The only restaurant that still requires some fine tuning would be the gourmet restaurant. The service was great but the food still needs some improvements. We were staying in the Mirage Club and I have to say that the check in was amazing. We were brought to the club lounge upon arrival where we were offered drinks as well as some small snacks. We en [... read more]joyed this while completing all of our forms and then were taken on a short tour of the resort and brought to our room. Our luggage was delivered approx. 60 minutes later so please ensure you have a swimsuit in your carry on if you want to make your way to the pool immediately. We did so all was well. We really enjoyed the martini bar located just outside the Italian restaurant for cocktails every evening before dinner. Our butler Pablo was the best butler was have ever had. We have had many butlers on our travels throughout the years and he was by far the best so far. He organized a 75th birthday party for my aunt while we were there. He had a collage created on a canvas for her with the pictures we provided from that night. He always ensured our dinner reservations were done promptly. He would find us everyday on the beach or around the pool to ensure that everything was good and if there was something additional we required that day. During our stay my daughter left her cell phone on the bus when she was returning from Coco Bongo. The concierge in the Mirage Club went above and beyond to locate her phone and have it returned to the resort. The only information we were able to provide him with was the name of the bus company. The only constructive criticism I would have for the resort would be that they need additional air conditioning in their gym. I am a runner and used the gym 4 times during our 7 day stay. By the end of my 1 hour run, the heat was too much. Otherwise I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for 5 star service and a very relaxing vacation.

Riu Republica: Amazing place & people

The resort is great, very clean and well managed. The buffet should be open later. There wasn't any choice in beer, only 1 draft beer. you need a variety of beer like Coors Light , Corona would have been nice to have a choice. My husband will never return to any resort with a limit to only serving draft beer. When you pay for all inclusive you expect more for your dollar. Our luggage was beat up on this trip

Caribe Deluxe Princess: AVERAGE RESORT

The grounds and beach were very well kept. The buffet was average but the ala carts we went to were great , Asian, Italian and Brazilian. along with the seafood . The rooms are old and the workers were not friendly. We had trouble 2 days in a row with our room and they did not care . Excellence Punta Cana: Excellent Vacation

Just returned from the Excellence Punta Cana. As per some previous reviews, I would agree that the resort was a bit tired. We had an amazing time and would return if the price was right but I will say it didn't compare to the Excellence in Playa Mujures Mexico. The food was good but not great. Service was good, not great. And even alcohol wasn't top shelf like in Mexico. That being said, the weather was much hotter - which we liked and had more of an island feel that Mexico. Had we not be [... read more]en to the Excellence in Mexico, I'm sure I would have given this resort a 5 star review. But, I can't help but compare and so would rate it 4 stars. They are about to undergo a major renovation in July. We will look forward to returning when that has been completed.

TRS Turquesa: 4-4.5 star

The hotel was nice but paid a lot of money and expected the rooms to be nicer. After first night asked for a room upgrade which they did no problem for $20 per night fee. Much better room and a view. Beds were extremely hard and asked twice if they had a mattress pad .. twice they said yes but never received one. Food at restaurants was very good. I recommend you make dinner reservations first day you are there otherwise you could have a long wait. Some restaurants don't have staff that speak E [... read more]nglish so that was a little challenging. Lots of restaurant choices. Butlers weren't on hand as mentioned in the package. Most staff were very good but some staff clearly did not like their job. Tips are included but naturally you do however pool staff seemed to disappear once they got a tip. Beaches were beautiful and they keep vendors off the beach but you step one foot off and every step you get a vendor trying to get you into their store. The grounds were well kept and always staff working on site. All in all a nice place. We will go back to Punta Cana but would not go there again. We will try another resort. Oh & stay away from the free game at the casino. That will only cost you money. Read up on gambling in PC before you do it.
