Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing resort and food!

Great resort, large pools and amazing food! Beach was red flag every day so didn't get to go in the water but very nice sand! Amazing restaurants! Great for resort for families! Only suggestion would be to have more cabanas and loungers!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful resort!

Very large resort, with trolley transportation to various points. There was beautiful sand onthe beach, but the sea here is not so beautiful, with a small sectioned off area for swimming and some stones underfoot. The pools,on the other hand were really nice, the food was good and there were snack bars at the pools and not too far from the beach ,which were like small restaurants, with a good variety of food, so you never went hungry and you didn't have to return to your room to get dressed [... read more] and go to the main buffet. Just put on a beach cover-up and your flip-flops and you're set. There were no shows on some nights; they would have karaoke instead, at 9 PM The a la carte restaurants were great, especially the Mediteranean and the Gourmet.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Royalton Riviera Cancun - Hideaway

This hotel was fantastic. Everything about the visit was top notch. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left the staff was warm, welcoming and went above and beyond to help us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, especially the bed. I read a lot of reviews that the mangrove facing rooms should be avoided, however we loved it. One small criticism is that perhaps they could install some sort of shade which can be pulled down on the balcony as it does get excruciatingly hot out there during the day. The food was fantastic and there is a lot of choices of places to eat, we went during the U.S spring break so without Diamond club reservations it can be a long wait, however this wasn't really an issue if you went right at opening. Also likely not an issue if you avoid spring break. Beach is great, it was windy so there was some seaweed but the resort is great about going ahead and getting it cleaned up, not a big deal. The beach could use some more shade, there isn't a lot of places where it is shady and unless you are diamond club you need to pay 75.00 U.S to rent a day bed. One hint....if you ask the beach butler after 4 you can chill there for free, but need to find your own way until then. One other small note, if you make friends with the staff they will go out of their way to find you a shady spot, even when there are none to be found. Towel game doesn't really matter here, they remove people's things if they have not come back for awhile. Normally they do this when other arrive and cannot find a spot. The butlers at the pool and beach hold onto their things and keep them safe until they return. If you are looking for adults only, I would suggest staying at an adults only property. The Royalton is good for offering the best of both worlds, but most of the amenities are on the adults only side and there are a lot of children and teens on the main side, so if you want a quiet kid free vacation try and the VIM instead. That being said the property on the side of the adults only portion of the resort was starting some construction while we were there, it is our understanding that they are expanding the property, so it may offering more in the way of adults only in the future. Still overall it was a great stay, the property is amazing and I haven't seen better entertainment anywhere in the area! One night there was a sea doo in the main pool and a man with jet boots flew around the pool, it was awesome! Additionally do check out the fire show and the Mayan show, they were a must see. From the staff, if you have the chance to meet Estoban, Emilio, Elizabeth or Ashanti ...take some time to get to know them. They were our favorites and went WELL above and beyond for us!

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: great resort Gran Porto Resort and Spa

The rooms are spacious and very clean. The hotel is not huge but big enough. The lobby is small but very homey. The people who works there are very nice and help you with any questions you might have.Enrique Vazquez at the restaurant is excellent with the people... he will help, guide you any way he can. If there is a table you like he will always make sure you get the same table. It is not a big beach or a big pool but the workers at the hotel make it work. I like this hotel because its small and cosy. You are close to 5th ave. one block away.

El Dorado Maroma: Paid a lot and got very little.

This was my 12th visit to the Cancun/Mayan area and my first ever review on a travel web site. Felt compelled to write this. Best thing about the property it is very clean and well maintained. It all ends there. From the time we arrived to the time we left, it was as if someone was always trying to sell you something. If it wasn't time share, it was spa, the need to buy a $$75-$100 bottle of wine on the beach to get food service (ridiculous) or indigenous jams in the front lobby and most  [... read more]restaurants(very weird). For the price we paid they should have given them out as a departure gift. Couldn't get food at the beach or the pool. That's a first. The resort was under staffed for the entire time we were there. I'd recommend they shift their labour investment to less management/sales agents and more wait and kitchen staff to serve the guests. The wait staff that they did have on were just not set up for success. Felt sorry for them, especially in the Italian restaurant. Far too many tables to serve. I understand you will need to wait from time to time, but when a restaurant is only seating 40% of their tables at peak dinner times, again ridiculous. Notwithstanding this, they have the advantage of knowing exactly how many guest that are on their property every day, not being staffed/prepared is unacceptable, especially as it hails itself as a gourmet dining experience. Property was at 82% occupancy. Can't imagine when it hits 100%. The fitness center was very small, and always far too hot and humid. Many people noted this on the sign in forms, in the comments section. again nothing was done about it. This room was definitely an after thought. The food overall was ok, not gourmet. The Mgt. should do a bit of competitive shopping to see what some of the other resorts are doing re "gourmet" and the quality of the food offering. They have a lot to learn. The best restaurant on the property was definitely the near the beach, served up great lunches. The ala carte's were disappointing, except maybe the Asian. The biggest disappointment we experienced was with the front desk mgt. and staff. Upgraded to a presidential suite. When we viewed the room and the upsell was happening, it had a full stocked bar with 5-6 bottles of alcohol on the TV credenza and a full compliment of snacks. confirmed the upgrade, went back to the room to unpack, asked the bellman where the bottles and snacks went?? wasn't included in my $150 per night upgrade, REALLY??!!. This service is standard in most resorts for a lot less and without an upgrade. Never met my "concierge for the first 3 days!! Weren't introduced at check in.When I did happen to run into him to discuss my absent room turn down service, he commented ...."oh I have been calling your room, where have you been??!! I guess he could have left a message, which is why it was bs. Never heard of voice mail I guess. a useless service at this property. Even after this connection never saw or heard from them for the rest of the week. I understand they have a pillow service and other customizable services????? Missed our turn down service 4 of the 7 nights, even after pointing it out to the front desk team. One night they came to do the turndown at 10:25!! No one took ownership, a constant complaint around the pool. Yes the beach is beautiful. The seaweed is even more grand and it stinks all day long. They do their best to clean it up. One pile was left down towards the 14 block for 2 days. The front desk staff are dealing with conflict all day long, of course from disgruntled guests. When we checked in someone was complaining quite vigorously about not being happy about something in particular. Seemed to be non stop. This was a precursor for the week. Not worth the money. Never go back

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: An amazing trip

The resort was wonderful. The staff did everything they could to pamper us and the food and drinks were more than adequate. The resort was clean neat and tidy. The buildings were all impressive and very useful.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Truly a 5-Star Resort

This was our first time staying with Bahia Principe Akumal. Every aspect of our trip was 5-star all the way. The restaurant meals were delicious and artistically plated; almost too beautiful to eat. Our room was exactly as we'd asked for with an amazing view of the beach and water and infinity pool. With a resort this large, they had shuttles going all over to the sister resorts. I don't think we ever waited more than 5 minutes for one to come by. I must say that the staff was professional [... read more] and super friendly; so eager to help with anything you needed. The beach was so pretty with swarms of fish to entertain everyone very close to the beach. We are big beach walkers and this resort had no restriction on how far we chose to walk. This was by far the nicest resort we've ever stayed with. We'll be returning to this one.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Worth the money but a bit too big!

This resort was clean and welcoming. The grounds were well taken care of and the staff were mostly pleasant. We found the bar staff unable to keep up to demand and would frequently disapear, one time it took nearly an hour to get a refill. The food was okay, not fantastic. The pools were well maintained and fun! The resort itself is huge, so going anywhere took a ton of planning in order to not have to walk back to retrieve anything forgotten. The babysitter and kids club were amazing!

Grand Sunset Princess: One of our Favourite Resorts!

The resort was great! Rooms were spacious, service was great, grounds fantastic. Looks of poolside engagement, and lots of pools to choose a more relaxing setting. Downfalls, had to be up very early reserving your pool lounges, and many lounges would sit empty all day with no use, but reserved with towels. There was a lot of repetition for food, not a lot of variety especially breakfast. Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Dissapointing

Travelled with my boyfriend on our first trip together, excited to go to Mexico for the first time. Booked through trip central with marnie, who was amazing and very accommodating. We have stayed at royalton resorts in the past so we had an idea what to expect. We wanted to take advantage of the room selection service offered on the website but it kept stating our reservation was not available and I would recieve an email once it was. I never received this and we emailed and called royalton man [... read more]y times with no response. Upon arrival at the airport we had no idea what was going on, taxi services were hounding us and we almost got into one until we saw an air Canada rep ago advised us we had a bus that would be taking use taking sunwing in the past, this was all communicated via email. Upon arriving at the resort, everything was beautiful and we were excited that we got an early flight, arriving at the resort at 12pm. Check in advised that the room wasn't available until 3 and there was no possibility of room selection, we were very disappointed and wanted to speak to the manager Sylvia. She advised that there was nothing she could do, but she would contact us in a couple days when something was available, she never called. We then needed to wait, with our baggage for 3 hours until our room was available. Finally arriving in our room, realised it was exactly where we did not want, facing the mangrove. The rest of the trip was good, with the except of the staff. Overall resort, food and entertainment were great but bartenders and servers weRe rude and unaccommodating. We booked a 400 Canadian spa package and they forgot to add two services. Check out was stressful as they forgot to give us a check out slip so when trying to get on the bus the bell boys wouldn't allow so we had to go back to check out.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: A disapointment

The hotel was completely overbooked. Don't believe what you hear about the restaurants - you can't actually get into them unless you pay extra to become part of the diamond club (unless you want to wait at least an hour and a half). Even so, we put our name on the list for Zen, were told it would be an hour and a half wait, and then had people slipping the staff money to cut the line. We ended up having to eat in the jam-packed buffet every night. Note, we paid extra to stay in the adults on [... read more]ly section, but it was often full at meal time, meaning that we had to sit among hundreds of families in the cafeteria-style room full of tables. The room was clean, but we didn't get the king bed we were promised (two queens). Unless you put a towel down on the lounges by the pool first thing in the morning, like everyone else, you will not get a seat. Unless you are a young, drunk woman in your 20s, you are unlikely to be brought drinks by the beach. The hot tubs were usually lukewarm, and there was often no hot water in our room shower in the evenings (including our jacuzzi).

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Family oriented

Serious lack of cushions for lobby furniture. Japanese restaurant was so hot we had to leave before finishing meal. The over all theatre productions were very good. The buffet food was good and varied. Children should not be left to shop the buffet unsupervised as they were handling food and then putting it back when they decided they didn't want it. The housekeeping staff was outstanding and the rooms comfortable. You do not go there for the beach because it is extremely rocky and huge amounts  [... read more]of sea vegetation clogging the shore. That being said, the pools and water park are excellent.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Enjoyable Vacation

We enjoyed the green surroundings and the local wildlife around this resort, we found the food in the buffet and other restaurants very good plus excellent service everywhere. Beach is approximately 2 km away but can easily be reached by tram. Our room was comfortable but could use a little more drawer or shelf space and better lighting in the bathroom

Grand Sunset Princess: Above Average Mid Tier Resort

Stayed from March 28 - April 4 in the Platinum Section of the resort. Large spacious rooms and clean. Resort overall is extremely cleaned and maintained. The staff is great and accommodating. Food is average, drink service is great. Spa service is great and priced reasonable. Chill out beach is worth the extra cost for the private beach and drink service have dinner on the first night and it is complimentary for the entire week. The shuttle runs from the lobby to Platinum lobby every 15 mins. Great resort for family and groups. For couples stay in the Laguna villas or Platinum suites. Adults only in Laguna Villa's. Family area is great for kids from 2-10. Main pool is party area depending on time of year and if you are not looking for loud music and into overindulging on the beverages then try a different part of the resort for the week. I would return if with a large group or staying in the Platinum Section. As couples then the Laguna Villa.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Over the top!!

Just returned 2 days ago and are already discussing that we MUST return! Everything you want from a vacation all in one resort: free dolphin shows, theatre shows, poolside entertainment and games, kids splash pads, kids pools beside the adult pools, water slides, white sandy beach (with some rocks), delicious food and a la cart restaurants. The grounds are constantly being cleaned and gardens are beautiful. The Caribe is in the perfect location on the resort as it is central to all the amenities [... read more] that everyone wants to see. No need to use the the on site bus service that travels the grounds when staying at the Caribe.

The Reef Coco Beach: Wonderful Resort!

Super nice resort! Clean, friendly and good food...(no sign of tourista) shows every night at 8pm, different activities throughout the week, if you're interested and located close to 5th avenue (shopping) as well as 12th street (dancing bars). Safe!!! The beach is small and lots of boats park in front of resorts. We didn't mind it, was actually picturesque and for a bigger beach, just walk to the left...

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Best resort we have ever been to, bar none.

The rooms were spacious and they were always clean and well stocked with all the necessary amenities. We have returned for the third time and it definitely will not be the last. We enjoyed the pools and we are impressed with the way your staff are constantly cleaning and catering to our needs.

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Fantastic!

Beautiful resort, beach to die for, multiple salt water pools, amazing food and service, fun show's every night. Only 30 minutes from the Cancun airport. This is one to book for your next family vacation.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very nice resort

Beautiful resort. Impressed with beauty and cleanliness of the grounds. Loved the palm trees on the beach and throughout the resort. Solid food and generally friendly staff. Two big thumbs up from the entire family including kids.

The resort is lovely grounds, very big, use of shuttle a must. Pools were great, lots of them. Sports Bar was very disappointing, staff did not care about patrons, service was terrible!!! Everywhere else was fine. Service was fine, food was ok. Room was adequate but far from everything. Overall nice vacation but not sure we would return.
