Melia Marina Varadero: Bad experience at the Melia Marina Varadero

I am very disappointed with my stay at the Melia Marina and being the fact that I was over charged compared to other guests at this resort. It is ridiculous everything I had to go through and let me start explaining to you my review. I hope something can be arranged to compensate this stay as this was the worse vacation I have ever had, and it is not okay to send your customers at a resort that states being a 5 star. Upon arrival we were put at the other end of the resort in the apartment no [... read more]t the apartments close to the resort but far enough that it will take you half hour to walk. At this point, we had waited almost 2 hours in our shuttle bus at 10pm because the bus couldn't leave due to a family not being on the bus, so make everyone else wait! Very frustrating. Not to mention the long waits already at the airport. I was very frustrated with hotel for being put in the wrong room, not to mention it was the dirtiest room I had ever seen in my travelling years. The sheets were dirty, with white spots all over it and the headboard as well plus the toilet wouldn't flush. Note that this is all at around 12:30 a.m. Then next morning we go to the lobby and let them know that we are in the wrong room, they offer us an "upgrade" in which is what we truly paid for so I wasn't impress. They then offered us a dinner at the level restaurant and we took the lobster that taste like rubber and potatoes that were who knows what. It can't be that hard to make mash potatoes! If you like good food, please do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere. The buffet food is repetitive as well and every day is the exact same items as the day before for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you like meat, not the place to go, if you're looking for seafood not the place to go either. It is repulsive after a couple of days and you start wishing you were either elsewhere or home. The service, was slow, the drinks were never the same from one server to the another, and I am not sure if it's because we are a lesbian couple but everyone always seemed to be served before us until someone would finally say, these ladies have been waiting to be served. Our new room (apartment), had a broken screen and window, the mosquitos kept coming in, I mentioned this several times and it finally got fixed after day 5. The washer dryer was also broken and was told it would be changed in 20 minutes and after waiting for over an hour I decided not to waste another day and left, they finally came several hours later. The coffee machine was also defective, wouldn't brew unless you held the pot up high. The bed was not comfortable, again stained and the room was full of patches on the wall which never got painted over. There was a mold smell in the room which was disgusting and thankfully when we weren't there to sleep we were on our balcony. The first bathroom was never cleaned, hair all over the floor and the shower was filthy so we never used it. There was nothing functional in the room, everything was broken and we had to call to get everything fixed which is very annoying. There are no activities or entertainment and quite boring unless you like to just sit around and drink/socialize all day in the lobby. The beach area is narrow and everyone stacks their chairs anywhere they can squeeze, which means you're practically sitting on the person next to you. Lots of bugs also, we got a few bites on our legs. The snack bar near the main pool... The worse service ever and they are so rude when they do serve you, I couldn't believe my eyes/ears. Also, we paid 1500$ a person to be here, and while speaking with other guests they all paid 900$-1000$ max based on about 10 people we spoke to, talk about being totally ripped off, disappointed and need another vacation to get some rest now.

Mar Del Sur: Le Tout-Inclus à peu de frais.

L'air climatisé et l'eau chaude dans les chambres. Bar ouvert 24h Le buffet était bien, plus de choix que j'aurais cru. Pour le prix (moins de 550$CAN) je ne pouvais demander mieux. Le staff sympathique et aux petits soins pour nous. La plage à 2 minutes à pieds et le bar qui vient avec, super!

Hotel Los Cactus: Breezes Veradaro, Cuba

Loved the hotel --- close to a wonderful beach and across the street from a great golf course. Staff was very friendly and very helpful.. Food at the buffet was extremely good ---rooms were excellent ---a little tired, but excellent. Pool and grounds and facilities were very well maintained Nightly entertainment was superior. My sister and my son and I are planning on going back next Christmas. Mike Mills

Hotel Villa Cuba: Be Live, Varadero - good experience

I was happy with the Be Live Resort. The villa rooms were not a spacious as I would have expected (but saw the villa room of another guest and it was very good on space). I was alone in a two bed room and that was OK but for two or more people tit would have been cramped. All the other resort amenities (pools, food, bars, beach, activities) were great. Would stay there again.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing resort

This resort definitely exceeded my expectations...it was beautiful, clean, staff was nice, fun and accommodating.The beach was gorgeous with many shelters for shade. I have already recommended this resort to friends.

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort!

This resort was excellent. Beautiful view of the pool and ocean. I enjoyed both beaches. The quiet beach was close to the snack/beverage bar while the larger busy beach was busy and more of a party scene. Entertainment was non-stop. Very interactive. We stayed a the main building which was close to everything. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Melia Varadero: Would not go back

We were moved 4 times, first room king sized bed, second room no hot water, third room a king sized bed, 4th room was dirty, they were going to move us again I said no come and clean this room. The Manager Oscar made our a la carte reservations, gave us a bottle of wine and free massages. The sheets were never changed there was sand in my bed. The bathrooms on the main floor stunk like rotten sewage for 2 days. The bathroom in the pool area was nice -but too small, only 2 stalls and there [... read more] was often a line up. We hired a driver to go into Havana - we were also supposed to get a tour guide. We got no tour guide and when I asked Oscar about it he checked and said that was wrong and the cab company will give you back $30. I said fair enough, then he said $30 Canadian dollars, I said I paid in CUC's and that is what I should get back.

Hotel Villa Cuba: A very nice resort, very clean.

The resort is very clean and well looked after, some parts needing repair. Bathroom fixtures needing replacement in our room. Resturant's were very good, food was fresh and varied. All staff very friendly and helpful.

Melia Marina Varadero: Very Large

Nice Hotel. Good rooms, food is good but the same. Enjoyed the A La Carte restaurants. Hotel is very large and its far away to everything. Staff is great. Last hotel on the Peninsula so a long bus ride to go anywhere too. Beach is good. Water is clear. :)

Resonance Blu Varadero: nice resort

the resort was clean and well taken care of,the beach was fantastic. The resort was a little large for walking to and from the 1 buffet at that front of the resort everyday a couple times and never found a 24hr snack bar anywhere. The pools are beautiful but could use a little more cleaning after windy days as many tree's are around them.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Fantastic vacation!

Beautiful Resort with the friendliest staff! Rooms and facilities were clean and well organized. Nice beach and pool area with lots of chairs. We found the best part of this resort the wonderful staff that work there, all very friendly and always willing to help make your vacation better. Would recommend!

Melia Marina Varadero: Good time

Hotel was nice. Stores to walk to. Not enough information given on when and where the nightly entertainment was. Food was actually ok! Beaches were clean and staff friendly. Never felt like we had to leave a tip either.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Motel needing repair

The hotel my friends and I stayed at was in need of repair and I would not recommend it. My friend's bed had bed bugs, my other friend had fecal matter on the ceiling of his bathroom. There were several tiles missing from the pool and a part of a tree was in the pool the duration of the time we were there. Many guests were also complaining about the hotel and we seen people leaving for other hotels because of the quality of the hotel. One man stated that he was leaving because the first room [... read more] he was given didn't have a front door and the second room he was given didn't have a door on the safe.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Resort Paradisus

This hotel has a star rating that is higher then it should be. Grounds are nice, but service is only good when you first arrive. After that, it is on a steady decline. The last day room maintenance was only making beds up and provide some clean towels.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful scenery and gracious staff

This resort is probably the best in Cuba. We enjoyed the fabulous long and beautiful beach. Our room was spacious and very clean. The staff were nonintrusive, friendly, and very helpful. One of our waiters/waitresses invited us to visit their home in Cardenas (a nearby city). We took a taxi there and our waiter/friend introduced us to their (humble) home, and their mother and nephews. Our new-found friend (who I choose not to name as it could cause her/him some trouble?) arranged for a horse [... read more] and carriage tour of the city. Touring the city was such an eye opener, re. how the Cubans really live. I would highly recommend that tourists check out some of the local surroundings - it enhanced our knowledge and awareness of how the Cuban people live. The live entertainment at the resort was really quite good, the Cubans are such musical and athletic people. We would definitely recommend this resort to folks who want to enjoy a holiday in Cuba.

Melia Marina Varadero: Fantastic Vacation

Thank you Lisa for helping us with our trip. Melia Marina was amazing. From the airport to Melia ,from the check in to check out, everything was quick and efficient. The food was great with plenty of choices. the room was clean and with only steps away from the pool my wife and I really enjoyed everything. The pool was top notch and the service at the bars was outstanding. we met lots of people and made new friends. We would definitely go back to this resort in a heartbeat. Hotel Bella Costa: Leisure rest

This resort consists of two parts: main building and several smaller (2 storey) buildings grouped together. The main building looks a little too big and "city-like", we stayed in one of the smaller ones and the accommodation was really great: we had a two level suit - huge living with balcony and 2 bedrooms higher up. All very clean, room service VERY good, everything worked. Beach great for beach lovers: sand and shallow, sandy, gradually deepening water entrance - great for small kids. Catam [... read more]arans (you have to sail with a hotel staff member), kayaks. Sea life - close to nil so snorkelling non-existent (one can as well snorkel in a swimming pool), hotel staff was ferrying people with small catamarans to a small snorkelling site about 15 minutes sailing. Did not go so cannot comment but the whole layout of the ocean did not look promising for snorkelling enthusiasts. Food plenty, some good but generally I would fire their chief:) the food preparation was not imaginative, good professional chief could have done much better with the same ingredients. Menu restaurants - not recommended. Coffee absolutely ATROCIOUS in all places. If somebody goes there I recommend to ask for double expresso and then dilute with hot water:). In summary: good place for lazy days on the beach, walks to the small town of Varadero, possibly a trip to one of Cuban Cities.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Quiet Resort

This resort is for family with kids, couples that like to relax, and old people. If you are looking for party dont think about going there. Food is decent. Personel people are friendly. Rooms are okay for Cuba not for Canada.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Friendly staff

Great staff and beautiful beach and pool. The food was terrible - would not return because of how poor the food was. The dishes were not kept warm before serving. Had to live on fries and pizza for a week.

Mar Del Sur: Good,this trip is match the price.

This is the second time I stayed this hotel ,everything is almost same,including the staff's work ,but,maybe the room is old than before,like my age. I change 3 times room,because I want a quiet room,the last one is good(the first one is ok,but bathroom was block for somedays,the second is close the highway,the view is very beautiful). The last but important,I am very appreciate the service of Tripcentral.ca,they give me so many helpful information and advise.
