Riu Palace Riviera Maya: Loved the RIU Palace Riviera Maya!

We loved this hotel, but especially the service. Especially the kitchen staff under the watchful and personal eye of Rueben, Chef de Chef! He was especially attentive to my needs for gluten free food and personally directed his staff to make different foods that suited my dietary requirement. Then everyday after, the staff would remember who I was and quickly accommodate me with toast, pasta and even pancakes! This Queen of Resorts is starting to show her age, especially in the rooms and the the tile floors around the pools, but Her grace and majesty far outdo these small items. I truly hope when they renovate this RIU Palace, they somehow keep the glorious traditional décor. Maybe a mix of traditional Mexican with the Modern that is so in fashion right now... shall we say "Spanish Modern"? This was our first time to a RIU Palace....love, love, love this Resort brand and will make every effort to try out other RIU hotels in the future!!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great hotel

The hotel aria is great: the pool nice, rooms are clean and the restaurants are perfect. The hotel representatives are professional and friendly. The beach has rooks and when we stay in hotel on the last week of March the ocian has a lot of weeds.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Our favourite place so far!

We are Azul Fives fans to say the least. We just returned from our fifth visit to this beautiful resort. We love the grounds, the rooms, the food, the staff.....the margaritas! We like the Karisma chain of hotels in general and have never been disappointed. In our minds, one of the main reasons is that there are no reservations required in the restaurants - if there's room, they will seat you. The food is outstanding at Azul Fives and their servers are so polite and friendly. Our "thank you [... read more]s" are always met with "it's a pleasure". After this many visits, this place feels like a second home to us. We will definitely be returning!

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Overall good family vacation

In general this resort met our expectations. It was clean, the staff were very friendly, and our room was plenty big for our family of five. The beds were not overly comfortable however, and the food was just acceptable

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Beautiful property

It was a clean, well manicured property. The room was well serviced, including a turndown service every night, and mini bar replenished daily. The beds are very high and we had to have it lowered, there was no difficulty having this done. There was no shade outside our room, therefore we could not use the bed and hammock provided for our unit; we had to seek shade elsewhere.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Awesome

We just arrived home from the Ocean Coral Turquesa on Saturday April 1. This resort is beautiful with a great layout. It is very clean and well maintained. The staff work hard to make everyone happy and are very accommodating. Xavier met us upon arrival and told asked us to meet with him so he could give us a welcome package. I was a bit sceptical regarding this as we were not interested in meeting for a couple hours regarding a time share proposal. The next day we met Xavier for a ten minute meeting when he explained to us he was representing the Hotel and was there to do anything to provide a great stay for us. He was awesome and every time he spotted us asked how things were. He was great. Thanks Xavier for making our stay relaxing. The pictures provided on the Internet for the Ocean Coral Turquesa are great but do not do the resort justice. It is everything you see and more. We really liked the size of the resort and it's layout. We stayed in building 5 on the 3rd floor with a view of the ocean. It was quiet with great working AC. The hot water in the shower was not working on two occasions during the first couple days of our stay. I spoke to guest services and they immediately had a service guy come down to repair it. It was merely minutes. That's service, just ask. The food is great. No booking of restaurants required other than the Japanese one. It can be booked at 11 am the day you would like to go. Just be there to reserve your spot as it does fill up. There are four pools one being a kids pool. We spent most of our pool time at the pool which had the volleyball net. It never seemed to be real busy with lots of room to enjoy the water. You can always find a chair in this pool. The pool which has the swim up bar is much busier which can be expected. The location of the resort is great only 20 minutes from the airport. It has probably the best beach of any resort we have stayed at in the Rivera Mayan. The beach goes forever. We walked for over an hour down the beach and came into the town of the area which provided a public beach. Say hello Carlos at the lobby bar. He was great to chat with. The young waiter in the lobby area during the evening is also a great kid, Raoul☺. These people all work hard to make our vacations great. Don't be shy to tip occasionally they appreciate it. Don't be scared to book a vacation at this resort, it was everything we were looking for and will definitely return. Thanks to Jenn Black from trip central for the recommendation. Catalonia Playa Maroma: Awesome trip all around

This hotel has great food, great staff and a beautiful beach. We all had a wonderful time and by the looks of the pictures the tequilla must"ve been awesome. The rooms are very clean and the grounds just simply amazimg.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Ocean riviera paradise - awesome resort!

We recently stayed at ocean riviera paradise and it was such a great resort! It is brand new, clean and modern. There is a shuttle that brings you throughout the resort which is nice on very hot days. A bunch of restaurants to choose from which you do not need a reservation to get into and the wait is not long. You can go to a restaurant every night and return to the same one. Buffet was very good as well. The staff is very attentive and kind. The rooms are gorgeous, clean, beds are comfortable  [... read more]as well. The beach was nice with a lunch restaurant that overlooks the beach and a lot of huts for shade and a few beds. What we loved the most about this resort is that it caters to every age and every personality. A variety of pools for the party type, the quiet relaxing type, kids and more. It was nice to have a bunch of excursion options and photographers along the beach to help you capture great souvenirs. Nightly entertainment was great as well. We will definitely be back!

El Dorado Royale: Not worth the money

Where do I begin? The rooms are dark and dingy. The a/c could not keep up with the humidity, our clothes and bedding were always damp and the room smelt musty. 3 of the 7 nights that we were there our room was not cleaned. The food is good, what little you got. Room service was a must and used it regularily to get enough to feel satisfied. The beach is terrible, the week we were there it was a sea weed battle. The beds are very uncomfortable and unable to get comfortable. The mattress was a mess [... read more]! The resort was far too large for us. They need more smorgasbords during the day hours.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Would never recommend!

Sold to us as an adults only resort. Was disappointed in every area due to this. Resort was okay, nothing to set it apart from other resorts. Wait times for restaurants was on average over an hour and reservations were not accepted. Most meals ended up being served cold.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing

we enjoyed our stay at the Bahia Principle Akumal resort. The Grounds were very well kept, the staff was very friendly. The rooms I thought were damp for sleeping would be nice to have open windows for a cross breeze at night.. The beach and the pools were fantastic. We enjoyed all of a la carte's except the seafood one. Was not enjoyable at all.. I loved this place and didn't want to come home. We will be going back again..

Catalonia Yucatan: Catalonia Yucatan

For my first trip to Mexico it was a very enjoyable experience, the resort was well maintained and the staff were great. The weather was awesome for the 7 days we stayed. Would I visit the resort again most definitely.

Speedy check in the rooms were clean and the grounds were beautiful felt very safe in this gated community we walked to the Marina a few times seen the sea lions, dolphins, Mantees for free watching the trainers work with them...The staff was very friendly and the food was really good and being at a small resort they had a lot going on they had live entertainment at night before the shows which was good...Really liked having WiFi everywhere. Only thing though buying things there were expensive confusing trying to figure out the money exchange .. We went on a couple of tours they were both great Emotions native tour the side by side tour with zip lining and swam in a cenote.. and the other was EKBalam Cenote Maya which was amazing as well.a great experience..

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very large resort

We found the reception area needs to be better staffed as it's always so busy. That was the only thing but it is the first impression so that's why we felt it was important to mention. We were a bus full of people arriving at the hotel and reception was not fully staffed. We stood in line to get checked in for approx. 20 - 25 minutes to get checked in. People with children were getting as kids were antsy. They did not give out room keys but told us to come back in 30 - 40 minutes to get them [... read more] (that was fine as we went to enjoy a cool drink and a bite to eat). They said it would be fast just handing out the key to us later. About 45 minutes later we went to stand in line again to get the key. Once we got to the front of the line the staff person who was giving out the keys just walked away without saying a word. After a few minutes all of us in line started wondering what happened was he sick, did he go for a break? Finally, we asked a supervisor that was just standing there the whole time if someone was coming back as there was still a line up to get our room key. It was only then that he said something to a staff person and she started handing out the keys. The hotel was clean, we had a very nice room with big bathroom. The hotel grounds were beautiful. We loved the gym and the exercise classes. There was lots of selection at the buffet all the time. The beach was beautiful.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Quite good if don't like swimming in the ocean, otherwise poor.

Almost everything about this resort was quite good except for the following: 1. I like to swim in the clear pristine ocean waters. The water was absolutely awful, no swimming, at most wading. Black murky water only about waste deep at the buoys. Couldn't see your feet. Broken coral/rocks strewn around, and a mud type bottom, not sand as you'd expect. The sand beach area was fine however. 2. Exchange rate in lobby was horrible/pirates. In Canada I could buy 14 pesos for $1 Cdn. Lobby was 10 pes [... read more]os for $1 Cdn. In Canada 20 pesos for $1 USA. Lobby was 15 pesos for $1 Cdn. Lobby taxis and resort stores also gave this horrible conversion. I wish I had known these 2 things before going. Beach/pools question: Very poor because of ocean water/swimming. Pools separately were good, and sand beach was good. Location: would have been good except location for swimming/ocean water is very poor.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: March 22 Oceam Riviera Paradise

Hotel is new and is great shape.....Although too large for My personal preference, would highly recommend for families as lots for young children to do. Beach not the greatest with some rocks in water. However good long stretch in either direction for walking and exploring.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Great Trip!

The resort itself is beautiful. Absolutely stunning. It's very clean and all of the employees are professional and polite. Our room was spacious and luxurious. Food was great, although more lunch options by the beach would be nice. The pools were great, but the main pool was loud and at times, did get inappropriate. The hotel is very chic so I was surprised by some of the behaviour that was allowed by the guests. All in all, we enjoyed our stay!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Most beautiful resort!

Our small family went to this resort with our 2.5 year old son. We loved the rooms. The beds were very comfy, the rooms were very large and spacious. The balcony was a great way to spend late nights to have a romantic time together while our little one slept. The food was the best we've had anywhere. We did a few of the special restaurants but we loved the buffet more sometimes. The staff were very friendly. The beach was rocky in the beginning but we knew this so we brought water shoes that helped. But it was beautiful. The water slide pool area for my toddler was so convenient and fun most times he could be on his own since the water was only a foot deep. We also loved the fact that we could sign out push cars for him so that we didn't have to bring a stroller We want to go back next year. We felt 7 days wasn't enough to enjoy it all. Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Amazing family resort

I highly recommend this hotel for families, Food was great, and lots of stuff to do with the kiddies super pleased with this hotel and will absolutely go back. The service was great there was a concierge at every other building which made making dinner reservations easy easy. loved that/

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Fun Family-friendly Resort

Sandos Caracol Ecoresort was a really enjoyable place for my family of 5, including three children under 8. Lots of natural forests and wildlife all around and despite the large number of people there, it wasn't difficult to find a quiet place to relax. The children loved the waterslide park, especially my toddler who splashed in the 30 cm deep kiddie slide area. The other pools were nice but not exactly suitable for young children as there were typically 1.4 m deep with small shallow led [... read more]ges. The main pool, beach-side, was packed all day long, and consequently quite noisy with thumping music and waterpolo dominating the area in front of the swim-up bar; okay, if you want the party atmosphere. The ocean was spectacular - pristine turquoise blue with a view of Cozumel 18 kn across the straight. The beach sand was white and soft, perfect for sand castle building. Unfortunately, the shore is rocky all along, so the little ones weren't able to sit in the shallows with an adult - it hurt too much. Found a small sandy area on the far east of the beach where you could walk right in between the coral - too late of a find for us. Kids Club was well managed and supervised and the children (ages 5 and 7) loved it. Giant climbing structure, ping pong tables, pool, movies, and organized games were all awaiting them. The room was large and comfortable (Jr. Suite) with a terrace, overlooking the jungle, that featured a spa tub. No view of the ocean from here, but it was a perfect place for private sunbathing, and for the children to play when at the room. Room Service was thorough, if a bit late in the day. Italian restaurant was excellent, especially the lasgana and steak. Buffet had a huge range of food options that were tasty and fresh, and enough Mexican flair to last a lifetime. Definitely will go back.
