Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Best Cuba Vacation.

This year was our third vacation to Cuba. Once to Cayo Coco and twice to Varadero. Bar far this was the best vacation of all three. The resort is older that the other two we visited but the resort is so well maintained and the staff go above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying your vacation. Ever staff member that walks by you at the resort always acknowledges you and often asks if you are having a good time. The food was amazing...there was even season which we had previously heard wa [... read more]s lacking in Cuban food. The Beach BBQ every day at lunch was fantastic. The after dinner performance and the evening shows were amazing. Often when asked whether I would return to a resort, my response is usually no...only because I often want to experience new places and new hotels. However I definitely know I will be going back to Iberostar Playa Alameda.

Barcelo Solymar: First Trip out of Canada

My experience at Barcelo Solymar was beyond words. The night colors and friendly staff were so welcoming and made my stay feel safe and happy. I will definently be back again! There was always so much to do, especially with downtown just a fee feet away from the hotel. A must stay place for your vacation!! Highly recommended :)

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good time

Resort very nice. Got quite a few bites from what I don’t know. The bathrooms in the resort need more attention as they were always out of paper. Food was good plenty to eat. Need more entertainment during the day. Booked a beachside hotel room. Surprised to find out it was beachside and not beach view. We looked onto a field. My fault just assumed. Staff very friendly except one rude person at front desk who walked away when he was asked a question

Club Tropical: Good resort

Everything was good. the grounds were kept clean. Nice beach the food was good. I like the location of the resort. The pool was clean the workers were friendly. The entertainment was good. It is a small resort

Blau Varadero: Very good Resort

Room was very good(select Ocean view). Beach is fantastic, ...... enough lounge chairs everwhere, ..... beach, at pool, in shady areas. The cabanas at the beach are a nice treat(15pesos/day). Staff are generally very freindly and helpful. I suspect the staff that are not freindly don't speak english well. The odd thing is that the least freindly staff were at the front desk!! Room was always cleaned well by the maid, who did speak very good english. Other than the couple of grouchy front de [... read more]sk staff people the only negative is the food, ..... lots of it, looks good, but ..... much of it was not to our taste. There was always something on the buffet that we liked though. Best place we have been to yet in Cuba(3rd trip).

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Wonderful vacation

Everything at this resort was perfect. Our fourth time and wont be the last! Staff are friendly and attentive, rooms spotless, beach and pools clean, food amazing! Great place to relax if you want or be as active as you want. Lots of walking or golf cart rides!

Melia Marina Varadero: Not bad

Not a 5 stars definitely Personal very lazy Short of everything food alcohol No brandy no whiskey open late Close early We been in Cuba many times Varadero its worst Sorry to say that Varadero 5 stars anywhere else in Cuba 4

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great vacation

This resort was beautiful. The rooms and everywhere actually was super clean. The staff were so friendly. The food....well I know you don't go to Cuba for the food, that being said it wasn't wonderful. It wasn't bad. I feel like they do the best with what they have and they are having trouble getting many items that I feel like they were getting years ago when I was there. So I do recommend this hotel as I feel it's not a hotel problem. Beaches are beautiful .

Melia Jardines del Rey: Overcrowded resort

The resort itself was spacious but needed more greenery...the beach was amazing so were the personnel...the lobby was vast and could host a lot of people. The shows left us unimpressed but the entertainment itself with the music was fun and great. The food wasn’t good...we were lacking service in the buffet area as well as plates....from Thursday to Saturday when I left the hotel was overflowing and overcrowded by Cuban people...which in itself is not a bad thing but we were left with no spa [... read more]ce to get food or food itself in the buffets area. I have nothing bad to say about the cleaning staff or the bartenders or baristas ..they did an awesome job . I am going back to Cuba in March and taking my sons and I won’t take them there because of the food.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Great resort!

This was our first time to Cuba and we will definitely be back! And the resort was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food and entertainment were superb. This was our honeymoon trip and they gave us a lot of extras. We were sad to leave. Also, our travel agent Dianne Abrey was great and handled everything wonderfully. We will be booking our next trip with her.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Melia peninsula was a pleasant surprise.

The room was spacious and clean. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. Not all the staff at the desk were helpful some were outstanding and made up for those who were less helpful. We actually ate at theJaponese restaurant twice because we enjoyed it so much. Of course the beach is beyond reproach. In all I give it a 4+ rating.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Gorgeous beach!

This was our first trip to Cuba. The beach was gorgeous, the ocean was warm, calm and lovely. The resort grounds were well kept, the pools were clean and large. The food was only ok. We knew it would not be fantastic, but were disappointed that there was not more seafood, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The rooms were large, beds were ok. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Decent value

Amazing beach, wonderful staff and tons of entertainment. Resort is older but charming. Gym equipment was broken and plumbing wasn’t the best but overall had a great week. There is a dolphin exhibit within walking distance and the flamingos were right next door. Good value for your money

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Adequate

Very large resort. Three story buildings with no elevators. Grounds finally mowed after reaching about 15" in height. Bar staff alright but sterile. No atmosphere. Had to have permission from manager to change channel therefore subject to eternal commercial for Iberostar. After 2 hours waiting for flight, 4 hours on flight, an hour waiting for bus to leave and a one hour bus ride, it would have been nice to get a welcome drink. Mini fridge should be re-stocked every day not every second day. All [... read more]-in-all a very nice resort with good food and good buffet and maid staff but lacks feelings.

Playa Pesquero: Mixed feelings overall

Beautiful beach and pools. Rooms are a bit dated and in need of some basic repairs. Public areas were clean and the grounds were well maintained. Food and drinks were disappointing. There was a serious lack of fresh fruits and vegetables. I think this hotel is a reflection of life in Cuba overall. Staff were hard working and friendly. Enjoyed the omelettes at breakfast, the Caribbean restaurant and the crepes flambé. Decent snorkeling off resort. Loved the espressos and cappuccinos.

Sol Palmeras: Beautiful

I found the hotel to be clean with 2 beautiful pools along with a large Beach area. Plenty of chairs for sunbathing at pool along with beach area. Lots of choices at the buffet. Staff very helpful. Entertainment very good

Brisas Sierra Mar: Great Resort

Rooms were clean, staff friendly, food was definitely better than on our previous visits. Eco ala cart restaurant was excellent as usual. There is something magical about eating outdoors, in a lovely garden, with excellent and personal service by wait staff and chef, with only 4 tables. NOT TO BE MISSED, if you have the chance.

Hotel Los Cactus: Lovely resort

I enjoy this hotel mainly that we can golf. The grounds are kept well and clean. The food was good. The bathrooms not so clean. I enjoy going to this resort as the staff are friendly kind and very efficient. The resort Never had wine most days. We had to buy it in the gift shop. They should have a notice explaining the reason for only having a few bottles a day instead of us asking all the time. We have been to Los Cactus 5 times. We paid more to upgrade our room to a suite.

Sol Cayo Coco: good place to visit ONCE

This was the first time we ever went to the Sol Cayo Coco. We have been many times to Cayo Coco but to Memories, Melio and Pestana to name a few. When we arrived the receptionist at the desk was very polite and we got our room in a timely fashion and someone was available to help with our luggage. The room was clean and appropriate to Cuba standard I would say 3 star. There is only one elecart at this resort but we were able to attend two times but the food offered was exactly the same. Ther [... read more]e was no dress code in place no table clothes flowers or candles to make the atmosphere different then the buffet and the food was ok. The service was ok. The pool was clean as well as the beach. The buffet lacked a variety of food. There was no bananas no potatoes and beer was in short supply. We were there on Feb 14th and the resort was opened to many Cubans coming for the day. We were in a group of 7 and we found that day particular over crowded and unfortunately the staff catered to their own people over the guests already at the resort. eg: there was a line up for the buffet on the 14th we were at the front of the line and the door man spoke in Cuban and took 3 guests (2 times) until I spoke up and said hey we are needing a table for 3 as well. I felt he was upset when I mentioned this however he then got us in. This really turned me against the Cubans as a whole. I used to take t-shirts, sandels and personal items to give away because I always thought the need was there. This will not happen again and I feel bad the way I feel but seeing is believing and what I saw did not impress me. I would definitely go back to cuba but would hesitate going back to the Sol We were anxious to leave to come home and trust me that is the first for me

Melia Jardines del Rey: GOOD LUCK!!!!

Just don't go - only good thing is the beach if you can get a chair - be prepared to get up at 6:00 am to claim your spot at beach if you show up any later than 8:00 am no chairs left - showers went from scalding hot to freezing cold within seconds, toilets did not flush properly, food from the buffet was not even fit for my cat or my dog.... over an hour wait for a hot dog at 24 hour snack shack..... beds were like cement..... I could go on and on ...hopefully you haven't booked this resort ... [... read more].SOOOOO DISAPPOINTED ..... first two nights no water from 5:00 pm until the morning.... been to Cuba over 15 times and Melia resorts over 5 times this resort was worse than 3 star resorts we have stayed in .. could go on and on but why bother .... if you have booked this resort and can't get out of it GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
